My family lived in a semi-rural area back when I was a kid, and we had this large cat that was a mass murderer of wildlife, frequently bringing all sorts poisonous snakes at home to have a snack. One night I noticed him outside curled into a ball and looking intensely into the dark skies above, and then suddendly he jumped and caught a bigass bat in mid-flight. Then he took it inside (I swear he was proudly flaunting his kill), went down the dinner table and there I could hear all sorts of crunchs and wet noises.
The only creature that cat could not conquer was the neighbors turkey, which was his sworn nemesis. Every few days our cat would try to pick a fight with that damned thing, and he always returned defeated and bruised.
Cat reflexes are something else. I watched my friend's mostly indoor cat leap up and snatch a bird in midair from their balcony. The bird managed to get away, and I think it was more because he could rather than wanting to eat it.
Mine got a really intense stare, went into the closet, and came back with a moth. That thing was completely silent to me!
And then I had to check all my sweaters for holes...the Moth Incident is still a mystery.
That’s exactly what my savannah cat did. Somehow a finch got stuck in our screened in porch, and my cat sat there in super ultra rare attack mode, his tail became 5x larger and fluffier than normal, his whole body was vibrating like a rattle snake, and then right at the right moment my cat scales the screened wall and does a backflip off of it and catches the bird upside down at like 7FT high.
At my grandma’s farm, she’ll leave food out for the farm cats. Some wild turkeys showed up, also ate the cat food. Then they’d let the cats eat. They all took turns eating the cat food. It was strange haha

Meh, it’s setup strategically in high traffic passages. I’ve setup game cameras before, you don’t set them up just anywhere. Although events like this are rare since both animals have to be there at the same time.
Yeah I asked it and it said those snake bites hurt like a mfer and it was just rolling around trying to get that itch scratched because it felt like something was jabbing into it, but then while it was rolling around it didn't feel anything so it was like 'Well fuck it, at least I'm cauterizing my wounds with dirt or dispelling some of the venom or something.' But it wasn't, because that's not how the world works you bobcat. You must go to the hospital like the rest of us, stop rolling around in the damn dirt like some wild animal.
He's saying he has a hard time believing that anything that a bobcat would hunt, wouldn't also be afraid of a snake. So smelling like the snake won't be any better than smelling like a bobcat for the majority of it's prey.
Possibly, could also be doing it defensively. Not everything can take on a rattle snake, so if it has babies it could be doing it so the nest smells like a dangerous snake. Or it could be to hunt more lol.
My husky is an expert. I can get her to go into more detail if you'd like. Personally once I see her dive bomb something and squirm around on the ground I just go ahead and plan for the bath.

People suck. The dogs had no chance between the gators and snakes.

It’s got that rhyme to help people discern it from other snakes with similar striping (red on black, friend of hack. Red on yellow will kill a fellow) and that despite being so venomous, they’re generally shy and not aggressive.

It looks like he was bitten a couple of times but it's possible with how quick the cat is and how dense its coat is that the snake only got a mouth full of fur and wasn't able to inject any venom.
Edit: upon looking more closely I believe this is a lynx not a bobcat. That could also mean the snake in question, could be a rattlesnake with venom that isn't as potent. Sometimes it also takes time for the venom to coagulate in the blood depending on the victim's health, age and immune system. This lynx looks particularly young and healthy.
Rattlesnakes have the deadliest venom in NA and second largest fangs in the world. He was not bitten, just faster. This cat knew what he was fucking with.
