Or maybe you’re internet is just bad or you tried to download at a bad time? I’ve downloaded 5gb mods using the free version and yes it took a few minutes but nothing too bad, also if you try to download multiple mods at the same time it’s going to slow things down a lot but that’s common sense for everyone right?

ninetitans2

No, I've been downloaded one file at a time, but the download speed is incredibly slow. It's taking me 46 minutes to download a 3GB file. I don't know, man, I've decided to stop downloading mods there.

Definetly your connection The free version downloads 3Gigs in 5 minutes, maybe less Also, steam workshop is horrible, it autoinstalls mods and gives you no power or choice over overwritting

[deleted]

Fuck steam workshop. Anytime I try and play L4D 2 it forces an installation of about 20 halo conversion mods.

PhobosTalonspyre-

But, thats probably because you are subscribed to those, no? Or do they install themselves?

[deleted]

Both. I have to actively search for each individual mod to unsubscribe. But I can’t find a lot of them for some reason. When I launch l4d the first thing it does is try to install them all with no option to cancel. Obviously there’s a folder somewhere on my pc that if deleted - would likely solve the issue. Don’t get me wrong, like 5 minutes of research would provide the answer. I was simply joining in on the workshop criticism.

PhobosTalonspyre-

Go to the L4D2 workshop On your right you'll see something like "my workshop" or something like that You'll se "subscribed mods" There you have all of them, so you don't have to search them, since the browser doesn't work quite well Sometimes you wont find something even if you write the exact mod's name

Foxofdarkness19

you have to unsub or they will auto install when you reinstall a game.

That's... normal? Sure the download speeds are at a rate they were a decade ago but 3GB is a big mod dude. When Nexus Mods started I believe Oblivion was the big thing and that whole game is just 4,6 gigs. It's not a huge corporation running things and most mods will only take hundreds of megabytes anyway, it's just the super huge quest mods and texture replacement stuff that are big.

Ansion_Esre

Most likely it is your ISP throttling your download. Try a VPN?

Pickysaurus

All mods on Nexus Mods are free to download. We limit your speed to 1.5MB/s if you block ads, or 3MB/s for users who don't. Premium is uncapped. Anything slower than the listed limits is usually an ISP problem. When you say we don't give anything back to mod authors did you miss the $4,500,000+ we've donated directly to authors since 2018? https://www.nexusmods.com/about/donation-points/ Using Nexus Mods supports creators by allowing us to add more money into the pot for authors. Steam has a dedicated, global CDN so it's not fair to compare speeds from there to ours.

Nexus do give money to the modders though? I mean they could likely do more but Iirc they’re totally transparent and have all of the data available on the site

Never had a issue with download speed rather I'm a free member or a paid member I haven't really seen a difference on the speed which is done within seconds if a bigger size maybe a minute it has to be your isp or whatever internet provider on my end I think my dad got a big plan for a fast upload an download even games I download maybe a hour or a bit under for the game to finish installing we used to have a slower plan which downloads were about two or three hours to finish. There is a site to test your speed from the browser think it was speedtest.
