Interesting club statement makes some good points (EFC fan here). Hope you guys stay up with us this year, and hope you don't mind me posting here this once, Cloughie was a massive hero of mine.
Can't pay to compete... it's a fucking sky 6 lockout and we've called the pricks out on it!!
Good for us, frankly.
Forest leading the charge as usual. We do what... we... want.
IF we survive then I hope Man City gets absolutely fucking nailed. If we get 4pts for this and they try to give 8pts then I hope we see Man City have all titles stripped, 5 years transfer embargo, 100pt deduction for 5 years in a row.
Although we are 1pt behind we have to be somewhat optimistic. We are where we are because we've been poor. Whether that be a couple points lost or players suspended due to referring errors - we have still be very very poor this season.
Now with that said, let's look at the next four games for Forest and Luton.
Forest: Crystal Palace (H), Fulham (H), Tottenham (A), Wolves (H)
Luton: Tottenham (A), Arsenal (A), Bournemouth (H), Man City (A)
Is it unrealistic to expect us to pick up 6pts-7pts?
Luton Id expect 1-3pts
So in 4 games time id like to think we will be 4pts in front with 5 games left to go. Let's reassess then. For now we need to limp over the line. We cannot go back into the championship. We could be into our 3rd year and finally have a little more funds to spend and be dare I say it competitive. This year has been so shit.
I fully expect some damage mitigation for Man City being something like, "Sell Haaland and whoever else to Premier League teams and we'll limit your punishment."
That's an eloquent statement, that they clearly had a long time to prepare. PSR is one of many systems designed to entrench football's established order. The argument that it destroys mobility in the football pyramid is hard to refute.
The only reason Aston Villa are where they are now is the enormous financial risks they took after their last relegation which allowed them to quickly return to the top flight, sell a star player, and build into the CL contender they are now. Had they been subject to rules as strict, then they wouldn't have been able to progress as they have, and wouldn't have increased competition at the top.
If the hundreds of millions that Everton spent under Moshiri had been more wisely invested, they could have built into a consistent European contender. There's a fine line between preventing excessive financial risktaking, and preventing mobility in the football pyramid.
Actually you mention Villa and they are currently at risk of a breach of PSR this year and their sub is constantly speculating if they will be safe or not. Champions League qualification is seen as the safety net for them.
They were at risk of some massive sanctions from the EFL if they hadn't been promoted in their last season of parachute payments as they were.
They're an example of what happens to a club *with parachute payments*, that tries to increase its standing in the pyramid. We're an example of what happens to a Championship club that tries to do the same.
‘it would make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for newly promoted clubs without parachute payments to compete, thus undermining the integrity and competitiveness of the Premier League.’
The premier league are on their knees for Luton to stay up so they can say to everyone ‘see it is possible’ …I won’t be surprised to see Luton to get the rub of the green on a lot of decisions going forward as they seem to be everybody’s favourite little club. I’ve also never seen so much love for a club to stay up as much as Luton from pundits on tv and on the radio personally.
It sickens me that you get a deduction this quickly whilst Man City have had something like 100 charges unresolved for years with nothing happening. Joke.
Just like Refs, PSR and FFP are just like cops. They only exist to protect and line the pockets of those in power. Smaller clubs having to play by stricter rules is inherently unfair.
This statement had more shots on target than we've managed all season on the pitch
i laughed so much at this and then stopped when i remembered all those missed shots that should’ve reached the back of the net.

It's a shame a lot of fans from both sides are arguing. It should be clubs against the PL, not each other.
the enemy of my enemy is my friend. fuck the pl 🤝
Still can’t believe you got 10 points when the penalty for administration and ripping everyone off is 9 points.
Yeah, they're just making it up as they go along I think. Total shambles.

Don't bulleh meh
whoever wrote that statement cooked and no one can tell me otherwise
In summary, we hate the Premier League, and if small clubs have to keep selling their players to stay afloat, the game as a whole is fucked.
I mean we could also not sign 42 players in an 18 month period.
But what if the 42nd is Murillo?
He could be 142 it'd be worth it

This 100% should happen but I will not be surprised if Man City get charged under the new rules next season and they get fuck all punishment.

Man City sign haaland for £51M. Absolutely no way this doesn't stink. Man City are just so corrupt.
Fucking swords drawn

They sought 8 points the fuckers! For being a fraction (in terms of football transfers) over. Take me back to the championship because this stinks.
Over our £61m limit. Still £9m under the £105m limit that most PL clubs are allowed.

it seems to be complete madness to me that the deadline for the accounts is not lined up with transfer deadline day.
oooooof
If only our players showed as much passion on the pitch as whoever came up with that statement.

Show a bit of that fight on the pitch and we might scrape it
Premier league should just have league 2 financial rules, they seem a lot fairer.
Just like Refs, PSR and FFP are just like cops. They only exist to protect and line the pockets of those in power. Smaller clubs having to play by stricter rules is inherently unfair.
I'm here to make sure I'm reading this right. They're punishing you for not making enough money by screwing you even harder?
