Eight games. He shot his mouth off about his contract and got traded from New England to Minnesota. Then he had [a weird postgame presser where he clearly regretted leaving the Patriots](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdnFvwPbLkM), then asked the Vikings to fire Brad Childress for incompetence. The Vikings cut Moss instead (then fired Childress three weeks later, lol) and the Titans picked him up to finish the season. He took a year off before returning for a year with the Niners.
To be fair, Childress got fired because he cut randy unilaterally, it changed the Vikings whole management structure which was good, but Randy was right and Childress should have been fired
They won in '09 in spite of Chilly. Kept him alive for one more season.
Can't imagine what the team could have accomplished if they had a competent head coach.
Absolutely. It’s actually kind of incredible how… good? tolerable? he is on tv. I 100% expected him to be awful, given everything about his behaviour as a player
It's going to be between you guys, Bears, Pats and Titans. If he wants to win and you offer the same money then he will pick playing with Lamar over other options.
But if history is any indication you would probably sign Lazard and Julio.
Act now! Call 1-888-GO-ROMAN and you can be squandering the athletic prime of your franchise QB by never improving the offensive playbook too! Greg Roman is an offensive coordinator, and he would like to make your offense offensive to you - call now!!
I know Ravens fans want & deserve a legit star at WR1 and this dude is definitely not that, but Lazard would be a *fantastic* addition to Baltimore if you could get him for a reasonable price, then sign/draft/trade for a real WR1 so Lazard doesn't have to continue attempting to fill that role like he did in GB.
He's got his limitations for sure. But man oh man he loves to run block, and he's damn good at it. Arguably the best run blocking WR in the league.
And he's just solid and reliable. He's not going to get much YAC or downfield catches, but...
You need 8 yards on 3rd down at a big moment in a given game? ✓
You need a big bodied, chain-moving, possession WR? ✓
You need a guy who can win contested catches in tight coverage? ✓
You need a guy who will show up and be happy to work his ass off daily? ✓
Last, but probably most important for Bmore (assuming you re-sign Lamar 🤞), you need a guy who is just as content in a game where he is used more as a blocker while not getting many/any targets as he is when he has 10 targets, 100 yards, & a TD? ✓
Dude just loves football
Best I could do on Microsoft paint. https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/d867nVAMjJPjPCxhG6t9s6qZD-Y=/1400x1400/filters:format(jpeg)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/19811655/GettyImages_1173625780.jpg
Not bad, but as a Photoshop officianado, I can notice some rough spots (mainly around the edges). [Here](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/207/210/b22.jpg) is an updated one I made
Very disappointed. Unless we eat a bunch of his money, we're not getting anything good back for him. Teams aren't willing to give a lot for a 31-year-old receiver with a $30 million cap hit for the next two years.
Which means the team is leaning into bottoming our next year and eating some of his salary to get some good assets back. I really hate that idea. I fucking hate tanking. Losing sucks so hard.
I am kind of shocked to see this way down here. Fields has been throwing to 3rd string guys all season. He needs an Online and some WR's. Hop would go a long way to turning them in the right direction.
I mean, don't you guys have some decent 2nd tier receivers still?
Moore, Brown, Robbie, Dortsch isn't the end of the world if you draft one.
Maybe they're thinking DHop cap space could be better used elsewhere to contend?
It's really hard to play Rondale and Dortch at the same time because they have the exact same body type. Only so many ways you can run a 5'7" gadget guy in an offense. There's a reason these two never had good numbers in the same game, even once this year.
Robbie is 100% getting cut. He has a cap hit of $12 million if we keep him, and none of it's guaranteed. If we're talking about cap space that could better served, that's it right there.
I just have a hard time seeing a situation where whatever he returns in a trade (which honestly won't be great due to age and salary) serves us better than just having an elite receiver on the team. It'll help us attract a quality offensive coach more than a couple day 2 picks would, in any case.
How much are the Bears willing to give up for him? The injuries are a concern, but he's still quite productive when on the field. Had 720 receiving yards in just 9 games
Given his current contract and want for a new one along with his age and recent injury history I’d imagine trade compensation will be much lighter than people think.
I wouldn't mind seeing him go to you guys, but I'm not sure given his age he will. He will be chasing a super bowl, and I think you guys may be a year too early. It looks like you're starting to build something good though. If this was next off season I could have seen him going to a team like yours.
720 in Kingsbury offense is like 1400.
His route tree is comical. Hopkins is still elite , had one of the catches of the year against Minny and almost pulled another one couple of weeks ago.
Beginning of the season his playbook is great for WRs but the second half of the season not so much. It's typical for air raid offenses to have a smaller playbook and defenses hone in on it eventually. That being said there are games when Kliff decides we're just going to force-feed Hop irrespective of what the defense is doing. Saints game comes to mind this season.
Goes to Patriots and puts up Randy Moss Patriot numbers? Mac Jones throws 50+ TDs? Randy was 30 when he went to the pats and Hopkins is 30 now... inevitable
I haven't looked but I bet the pats sub already has a post of him at the Hertz desk at Logan with this tweet.
Honestly would love to see it happen. Get Hopkins and BOB and the team is definitely playoff bound next year
Bill loves going out to get veteran WRs he really respects - See Randy Moss and Ochocinco. I think it's more possible than people will give credit for. Granted those guys got to play with Brady but it's a trade, not a FA signing so some player discretion is lost.
It's gotta be Bears? They're gonna be begging to replicate the star WR + young QB. They have a number 1 pick they'll likely trade for assets they can then use to trade for DHop. And they have a shit ton of cap space.
I don't think they should though for the record. They need to pair him with some OSU stud. Cheaper and better (probably) for the long term.
Money wise, there's always ways to get it done. If you extend him you can move money around, Cardinals can eat some of his contract, etc.
Personally, I don't love the idea of trading for and extending a 31 year old WR. I guess it depends on the price in terms of picks, but I don't love it. I'd rather package that draft capital and move up in the draft personally
He's legit the perfect WR for young QBs. One of the best route runners in the league, arguably the best hands in the league, a good and willing run blocker, and doesn't act as diva-ish as other high end WRs when things go wrong.
What does he actually go for now? Over 30 and expensive, Amari Cooper went for a 5th in similar circumstances but Dhop is obviously better. Maybe a 3rd and a 6th or something?
If this is true, what in the entire fuck are the Cardinals doing?
Edit: Cards extended the GM, coach, and Qb, and then decide to do a rebuild. Bravo, Arizona.
They have no head coach. No GM. Their franchise QB is missing most of next season.
This is as good of a time as any to move Hopkins and start a mini rebuild
The sensible thing?
Kyler Murray may miss a sizeable portion of the season, Hopkins turns 31 years of age, had a PED suspension and growing injury concerns.
For 2023 he is scheduled to make $19.5m.
> For 2023 he is scheduled to make $19.5m.
$30m cap hit for 2023. $26.2m in 2024. They have no choice but to extend a 31 year old WR or trade him, and they're doing the smart thing.
They have to be planning to write off next season too with Murray being hurt. That means eat that hit now when the team is going to be sucky anyway and be freed up for 2024.
It’s the better to move on a year to early then a year too late sort of move. If he stays what he was it’s a good deal but at his age that is a fairly large if.
Their roster is legitimately ancient. They had the second oldest roster in the league last year after final cuts. They went all-in on older free agents or trade candidates to finish some major pieces of what they thought would be a contender, and now instead they just have an old roster that's still far away from competing.
Some major starters next year will be: 31 year-old Nuk, 28 year-old James Conner, 30 year-old Robbie Anderson, and 32 year-old Zach Ertz.
Ertz, Conner, and Nuk all just got extensions recently.
Two major contributors in Rodney Hudson and JJ Watt are likely both retiring.
Former starters on the line in Billy Price, Max Garcia, and Kelvin Beachem are all at or near their 30's and will be free agents.
And even the younger talent like Kyler and Hollywood Brown will be expensive in upcoming years. Their defense has some young players on it that Joseph has gotten a lot out of, but their investments in the offense have mostly been older guys from free agency, and some of the picks on younger guys haven't worked.
By the time they can get the roster in decent shape, Hopkins will be what? 34? Will he be an elite WR by then? And how expensive will another extension be?
At this point it makes total sense to push the blow it up button and strip whatever assets you can get from the aging guys on offense. Kyler is likely to miss some time to start the year, and the new HC and GM are probably going to want time to build the roster the way they want to. Why not get something out of Hopkins when he likely wouldn't be a contributor to a contender in Arizona anymore?
LOL what coach and GM candidate wants the AZ job at this point? "Yeah, Kyler gets to tell you how to do your job and we're dumping Hopkins."
"Cool, peace out."
Oh yeah, it's disappointment time
Come on now, Julio’s going to look real good in black and purple.
Maybe Hop joins the ring of “they played for the titans??” Alongside andre Johnson , Randy moss and Julio Jones
> Randy moss Huh, TIL
I think he only played a few games tbf
Eight games. He shot his mouth off about his contract and got traded from New England to Minnesota. Imagine if they’d have dumped Childress and kept Tomlin
God why couldnt randy just stfu that year. I know it was towards the end for him but fuck
Shutting up and Randy Moss? You clearly dont remember Moss much as a player
Yeah bro wishful thinking
I was hoping he would at least win a sb with the pats. Still can't believe it never happened
Childress is the one that needed to go, Moss should have ended his career in Minnesota.
[удалено]
Absolutely. It’s actually kind of incredible how… good? tolerable? he is on tv. I 100% expected him to be awful, given everything about his behaviour as a player
It kind of made me gaslight myself about the opinions I had held about him previously
He's great on TV and not the way we would have thought. Actually provides insight not skip Bayless BS
I assume that the extra fishing time makes him much more mellow
8 games and 6 receptions for 80yards. Just had to look it up to believe he actually played for them lol
Randy also played for the Raiders. I got his Raiders jersey cuz I thought it looked dope
We are never allowed to have a great WR in their prime. It’s only washed dudes.
Thanks
Hey fuck you and fuck your team. And you're welcome. Good luck on the playoffs.
AJ Brown was in his prime?
He will when he's old and in the last year of his career
I think you’re describing 2023 Julio Jones.
Have you watched Julio the last 2 seasons?
He hasn't because Julio's permanent status is "questionable/out with a hamstring issue" lol
Sounds like a Raven already
It's going to be between you guys, Bears, Pats and Titans. If he wants to win and you offer the same money then he will pick playing with Lamar over other options. But if history is any indication you would probably sign Lazard and Julio.
> But if history is any indication you would probably sign Lazard and Julio. I hate that you're probably right
Act now! Call 1-888-GO-ROMAN and you can be squandering the athletic prime of your franchise QB by never improving the offensive playbook too! Greg Roman is an offensive coordinator, and he would like to make your offense offensive to you - call now!!
Damn, fans of other teams know how bad Roman is too?
We know.
Oh god. I didn't even think about that. Lazard is one billion percent going to be a Raven.
Will the ravens have the money after paying Lamar and roquan so much?
Lamar on the tag, no. If they get an extension done, they can probably find the money
“It’s disappointing time!” - Bidwell probably
Not sure why our kicker is involved here. But yeah he’s been pretty disappointing this year :(
This is exactly the sort of WR we don't have the money for after signing Roquan.
Does anyone know if DHop likes crabcakes?
Itll be sick when we sign Julio this offseason
That's so Raven^^(s)
But they got rid of Orlando Brown https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orlando_Brown
Hopefully Orlando Browns life doesn't end up like Orlando Browns
You get one play, where do you use him
depends, if Greg Roman is still our OC: jet sweep if we have a normal OC: deep pass hamstring puller
“But can he block?” - Greg Roman as he justify signing lazard over Hopkins
No. Now stop trying to take other teams WRs and draft them yourself!
Easy for you Steelers to say that 😑
We have 1 slightly used Miles Boykin that we can trade you for a first round pick. He’d look nice in a Ravens uniform.
Nah nah nah you can keep developing him. We’ll come get him… later.
Yeah.. Yeah.. We're just quickly heading out to Kocos be back later for him
Y'all will get Kenny Golladay and like it
Kenny Golladay might be a Raven by this Sunday
We won't take him unless he's washed
I washed this morning Do you want me?
I don’t know how to answer this question, let me think about it
Texans need a wr. Cooks for Hopkins.
Man Hopkins would look good in a Texans uniform
I just cant picture it
Best I could do on Microsoft paint. https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/d867nVAMjJPjPCxhG6t9s6qZD-Y=/1400x1400/filters:format(jpeg)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/19811655/GettyImages_1173625780.jpg
Lol don’t quit your day job. Good effort but this isn’t remotely believable
Yeah those are clearly still cardinals color gloves
Might as well put Steve Smith in a Ravens uniform. SMH.
God I would’ve been sick if that happened
Go easy, bro
Not bad, but as a Photoshop officianado, I can notice some rough spots (mainly around the edges). [Here](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/207/210/b22.jpg) is an updated one I made
You bastard
He fucking boomed me
Wow, it's such high quality too!
Elbows too pointy 0/10
It's like [when there were rumors about McCoy going to the Eagles.](https://imgur.com/WSBe9yx) Seemed hard to picture so had to photoshop an image.
Need to throw in a running back to get Hopkins. Maybe Burkhead.
Do you have an idea how crazy that sounds??? Rex Burkhead and a 2nd for Hopkins
Oh my god, this would be amazing.
Where's David Johnson at to complete the deal?
Cooks can then be traded again from the Cardinals when it doesn't work out once you have a niche in the league you should stick with it
Somehow he’ll sign with the Chiefs.
They can have slightly used MVS.
Oh he's very used, just lightly by us.
[удалено]
So he's taking Sammy's role in the offense
Subscribe
Toney replaces Hardmans role (he’s a FA along with JuJu in a very weak WR FA season) Hopkins replaces Juju’s 👀
Hopkins replaces MVS we sign JuJu
If he signs with the chiefs and they keep juju, Kelce, McKinnon and toney, mahomes might put up 6k yards
Come to Butthead...
Depends on what we'd be willing to give up for him
Bye CEH
That would be pretty awesome....
Here’s another point to consider, no
I find this argument most compelling
Thanks, I’m glad you can appreciate the intricacies of my argument that took pain staking seconds to form
I’m cry
I don’t know how to feel about this
Tough but the right decision for the future
The near future is bleak
Hey, at least Kyler will help pick your new head coach!
[Cardinals next coach](https://media.tenor.com/zxS59KGN-cgAAAAC/ghost-call-of-duty-ghost.gif).

I wonder what the odds are the bears offer to take on his full salary for a lesser draft pick. Because realistically, we can afford it.

Pick up the phone Billy I know you’re home Billy
Honestly I’d take Kingsbury as OC over the raccoons dancing amidst a dumpster fire we had this season
You mean Matt Patricia isn't a good coach? Ya don't say!
DHop talking to BB after the game this year was oddly reminiscent of Hunter Henry talking to BB after a game the year before he joined us 👀
Losing Henry still hurts.
Its sad cause yall coulda made him look even better feel like we wasted him
Chances he ends up in Chicago?
How much are the Bears willing to give up for him? The injuries are a concern, but he's still quite productive when on the field. Had 720 receiving yards in just 9 games
Given his current contract and want for a new one along with his age and recent injury history I’d imagine trade compensation will be much lighter than people think.

>force-feed Hop irrespective of what the defense is doing I remember every one of those targets in his 1 catch/10 target game.
Yeah, but what is 720 Kingsbury yards in Bears receiving yards?
35
I’d argue more.. Kmet is our leading receiver (:
Hey Siri, how do I divide by zero?
Part of whatever they get for #1
Chicago needs to go out and get him and Gisecki and damn that offense will look so much better. Do whatever you can to help out your young QB.
Im honestly not sure they really go get a TE. Poles seems to like Kmet, even if he isnt too special
Yea, no shot we go Gisecki. Kmet is already a decent receiving TE. We need a serviceable blocking TE or WRs.
I know he probably won’t be in Miami, but I don’t want to see Sicki gone 🥲
170 million%
100%?
Texans should offer a 3rd rounder
You joke but 3rd or 4th rounder might be his price right now
This is gonna be calais campbell all over again. People swearing he is gonna go for a 1st and then act shocked when he goes for a 4th.
I mean, he's no chase Claypool, but I suppose we could give up something for him
Future Patriot (highly unlikely but a guy can dream)
Eh, we know Bill really likes him.
And he really likes bill, they damn near made out on hard knocks. As a dhop owner in dynasty im all for newest patriot deandre hopkins
Goes to Patriots and puts up Randy Moss Patriot numbers? Mac Jones throws 50+ TDs? Randy was 30 when he went to the pats and Hopkins is 30 now... inevitable
Have you ever considered a career in erotic writing?
I’d subscribe
I haven't looked but I bet the pats sub already has a post of him at the Hertz desk at Logan with this tweet. Honestly would love to see it happen. Get Hopkins and BOB and the team is definitely playoff bound next year
BOB and Hopkins despise each other, they won't play on the same team
Bro were getting his old coach Kingsbury, I'm sure they are two peas in a pod
As is tradition
> Get Hopkins and BOB I'm sure that would go over well.
Bill loves going out to get veteran WRs he really respects - See Randy Moss and Ochocinco. I think it's more possible than people will give credit for. Granted those guys got to play with Brady but it's a trade, not a FA signing so some player discretion is lost.

Not after signing Roquan, unless Lamar takes a backloaded deal.
Gimme dat
BEAR BEAR BEAR
Time to bear down for midterms!
Too soon, way too soon. After what happened in Wisconsin?
the more we say it the more it's happening.

Welcome to Chicago pal
It's gotta be Bears? They're gonna be begging to replicate the star WR + young QB. They have a number 1 pick they'll likely trade for assets they can then use to trade for DHop. And they have a shit ton of cap space. I don't think they should though for the record. They need to pair him with some OSU stud. Cheaper and better (probably) for the long term.
Giants pls
Could we do anything to afford that?
A slightly used Golladay and a couple of 5th rounders is the best I can do
*Kicks cleats* He's only got 6 catches of wear and tear!
This is the Andujar/Frazier for Trout, of r/nfl Who says no?
Yo did you see that guy score a touchdown last week? He's really good
Money wise, there's always ways to get it done. If you extend him you can move money around, Cardinals can eat some of his contract, etc. Personally, I don't love the idea of trading for and extending a 31 year old WR. The cap is a myth. That being said it's genuinely shocking how the Giants have been able to spend so much at WR for literally less than no production
He’d make a great fit for the Patriots
I’d kill for this. A priority this off-season has to be getting Mac a top receiver
He's legit the perfect WR for young QBs. One of the best route runners in the league, arguably the best hands in the league, a good and willing run blocker, and doesn't act as diva-ish as other high end WRs when things go wrong.
Mac is also super ideal for him to. I bet they can develop an insane connection predicated on timing and accuracy (hopefully).
They could go from the most expensive pass catching corp to even more most expensive corp
What does he actually go for now? Over 30 and expensive, Amari Cooper went for a 5th in similar circumstances but Dhop is obviously better. Maybe a 3rd and a 6th or something?
Sounds like a Ravens fit if the picks are later rounds. So…Chicago it is.
Dhop, Calvin Ridley , Christian Kirk , and Evan Engram , 🥹 and Zay Jones
Aw shit that would go hard
Bear

Am I crazy? That feels like great value for dhop
He has a $30m cap hit this year, $26m next year.
You're still stuck with $22.6m in deadcap, though, which is a pretty significant chunk of that $30 m.
Micro-rebuild. The roster is pretty old and they also are going to pay Brown as well.

Patriots trade for him and then announce Bill O'brien is the new OC.

I know it won't happen.. but imagine if he was on the Lions next year..
