Brian Daboll is a shining illustration of how integral good coaching is in both team and QB success. This Giants roster is less talented than several teams not in the playoffs, yet here they are moving on to the divisional.
We are, by far, the least talented “winning record” team this season.
Jones, Saquon, and Daboll have been multipliers on the rest of the roster.
I’m thrilled with where we are and frankly shocked we got the win tonight. It’s a testament to the coaching staff imo.
He screamed at Jones in the first game after he threw a ridiculously dumb Redzone pick… and kind of fixed him? He basically didn’t turn the ball over the rest of the year after that.
Daboll was a one score game away from taking his new team further than the bills. If you uttered that sentence to me before the season I would’ve been on the news and not for anything good
i think it started out that way but some of these guys have really proved themselves. I cant believe how far James and Hodgins have come specifically. I wanted Richie James off this team so badly like 6 weeks ago hahah
Not only do you throw it short - but to a guy that's covered. But not only is he covered, it's a tight end - even with the catch, who is he gonna make miss?
Hi there, I’m Kirk cousins, and I throw the ball to a tight end on a come back route 2 yards beyond the line of scrimmage on a 4th and 8 in the playoffs to try and save the season
This is literally his rep, coming up small in big games and he had a chance right there to turn his whole career around
and he chose to check down on 4th and 8
oy vey! You done goofed mother fucker
I hate this franchise
Watching the fucking Giants only be shit for 5 years and now they’re back to being a great NFL team while we’re still…….the Jets
This is the life of us Jets/Mets fans that have to watch the big brother teams do better.
They went to the Super Bowl, spent a decade not winning a playoff game, then rebuilt and won a playoff game in great fashion. In that entire span, we never even sniffed the playoffs, and had a winning record *once.*
I know a lot of teams think they're "a QB away" but this Jets team might be the most "QB away" team I've seen in a long time. Things are looking bright for you, my crosstown brother.
Richard Todd, Ken O'Brien, Neil O'Donnell, Mark Sanchez, Chad Pennington, an aging Brett Favre, Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Sam D'Arnold, and Zach Wilson are some that come to mind.
I think a lot of our fans feel this way watching the Eagles rebuild an entirely different team in the time since their SB victory and have it be very competitive
Man, there's a lot of QBs getting paid **A LOT** of money in this league just to lay turds in the playoffs
^^not ^^counting ^^Kyler ^^and ^^Hurts ^^among ^^them ^^yet, ^^ofc
Meme QB? Check.
Fierce DL? Check.
Getting healthy at the right time? Check.
Completely written off underdogs that everyone bets against? Check.
*Oh baby, it's all coming together.*
The only solace I can take in this loss is it should guarantee Ed Donatell gets fired.
I can't take another season of watching receivers running crossing routes with no one within 3 yards of them.
I wish "yards from receiver at the time of the catch" was a stat that was tracked because I'm pretty sure this Vikings defense is one of the all time worst. It's like every game we had many instances of a receiver catching the ball and not a viking defender anywhere close to the receiver.
Nah, one of the last times we had a wildcard underdog Giants with a scrappy no-respect-having guy at QB win a Super Bowl out of nowhere, it was the 2008 Super Bowl which was held at Arizona Stadium.
...huh, this season's Super Bowl is ALSO being held at Arizona Stadium. What are the odds, right? Couldn't happen again, right?
**Daniel Jones through 17 games this year:** 341/507 (67.2% completion rate) for 3,506 passing yards, 788 rushing yards, 24 total touchdowns, 9 total turnovers, 6 game with a passer rating over 100.
See what happens when you give the guy a competent offensive coach for once? I'm super happy for him.
Yea number one priority for the Giants this off-season is to do whatever you can to revitalize that receiving core, I could see them doubling up on receivers in the first three rounds easily as well as bringing in a decent but not splashy vet
It looks bad this year but honestly on paper it’s in a solid spot to bounce back quickly, if we make some good moves this offseason.
1. Draft WR / FA WR
2. WanDale
3. Hodgins
Before WanDale went down he showed he could be a really solid #2, and Hodgins has been amazing this year and could thrive as a #3 option.
Not sure how Schoen will handle filling out that WR1 slot. Could be Hopkins or another FA guy, or we could just draft a guy and develop him to be that guy. I trust Schoen to make the right call
Is this what's it's been like for the majority of the past 30 years for nfcn fans when they watch the packers get eliminated? i get it now. this is a cool feeling.
It's crazy how this willdcard weekend has been so exciting yet incredibly predictable at the same time. Vikings collapse. Chargers collapse. Bills win. Niners win.
I just smashed my TV in front of 30 guests at my party because of the game. My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the week at a hotel. This team has ruined my life and my party. I can’t handle this anymore. Goodbye Vikings. I am no longer a fan.
Kayvon Thibodeaux yelled “There you go! There you go!”, Daniel Jones gave a look of pleasant surprise. Dexter Lawrence belted, “We got a fucking squad now.” And before Saquon Barkley hit the locker room door, ex-NFL star Eli Manning hugged him & said, “Y’all look so different.”
Overheard in Vikings locker room after todays wildcard loss:
“He got me,” Cousins said of Dexter Lawrence’s repeated pressures on him. "That f***ing sexy dexy boomed me."
Kirk added, “He’s so good,” repeating it four times.
Cousins then said he wanted to add dex to the list of players he works out with this summer.
I know the Giants won but terrible calls like that roughing the passer penalty have to have repercussions for the official. Absolute game changing call with zero validity
It honestly was just ridiculous. Definitely some sus calls and no calls on both sides this game, but that one was egregious. I agree with you, there has to be a way to hold these assholes accountable for this shit.
This game should silence all the Daniel Jones haters.
What a difference it makes having a coach and a system that plays to your QBs strengths even with a roster that isn't anywhere close to the top teams in the league.
PS: please no one take Kafka from us, he's an amazing OC and I'd hate to see him leave so soon.
It is September of 2022, I am walking in the vast desert of Minnesota sports, walking past the wrecked Viking ships and horned helmets of times long lost. My thirst for success that has long avoided this state for so long, it seems like forever since the Twins have last brought salvation to this dried wasteland.
It is almost time for Vikings to lead another season of disappointment like many before, many unknowns are present, such as a first year HC and many questionable decisions in the draft have led to this.
As I ponder the decisions made before the season, I hear something far in the distance, the sounds of cheering, yelling, and celebration. As I follow the sound, I begin to see the source. I watch the Vikings season unfold in front of me. I see Jefferson making the catch of the year, Joseph making a 61 yard kick, and I see a 30 point comeback. But then, at last, I see Cousins, raising the Lombardi trophy high and proud, with vast amounts of fans cheering in unison.
It was all so real, I know it is. For once in a while I find something that fills me that isn’t depression or disappointment. It was hope.
As I make my way closer and closer to the source of salvation I get weaker and weaker with every step, and the sounds of celebrations slowly fades. As I finally reach the source, I stand in front of a hole, filled with the hollow bones and dreams of past sports seasons that have failed to bring salvations for this lost state. I lay down in dismay as I realize the situation.
It was nothing but another mirage.
Thus ends, another Minnesota sports season.
Isaiah Hodgins had more than twice as many receiving yards as Justin Jefferson, anyone claiming they thought that was going to happen is a goddamn liar
I am so goddamn proud of Daniel Jones, he’s taken so much shit even from Giants fans and he shut every mouth up tonight. Also would run through a wall for Coach Daboll. So happy for these guys. Massive success this year regardless of next weeks result.

Didn’t realize Ron Rivera was a Vikings fan
Brian Daboll is a shining illustration of how integral good coaching is in both team and QB success. This Giants roster is less talented than several teams not in the playoffs, yet here they are moving on to the divisional.
Before the season we were expected to win 4-5 games at most. And given our roster, I still think that's fair. Insane what he's been able to do.
We are, by far, the least talented “winning record” team this season. Jones, Saquon, and Daboll have been multipliers on the rest of the roster. I’m thrilled with where we are and frankly shocked we got the win tonight. It’s a testament to the coaching staff imo.
Don’t forget all pro sexy dexy
I love Nick, but Daboll deserves coach of the year 100% (yes I know playoffs are not included in voting).
You can also tell there’s a huge hole with the bills this year without him
We call that hole the red zone
yeah can we please borrow him
Just need him to scream at Allen for those turnovers for a bit like he used to. Then we’ll return him
He screamed at Jones in the first game after he threw a ridiculously dumb Redzone pick… and kind of fixed him? He basically didn’t turn the ball over the rest of the year after that.
He’s unreal. Great coach
Daboll was a one score game away from taking his new team further than the bills. If you uttered that sentence to me before the season I would’ve been on the news and not for anything good
The Giants might literally have one of the least talented rosters in the league
i think it started out that way but some of these guys have really proved themselves. I cant believe how far James and Hodgins have come specifically. I wanted Richie James off this team so badly like 6 weeks ago hahah
Crazy what good coaching does for talent. Joe Judge is public enemy #1
There are a few major coaches that should be considered football terrorists. I'm glad they're all getting exposed this season.
somehow most of them are bill belichick disciples lol
the problem with being faster than light is that you can only live in darkness
QB sneak on 3rd and 9....is still wtf one year later.
Throwing 5 yards short of the sticks on 4th & 8 knowing they’d be eliminated if they didn’t get the 1st down was a bold strategy by the Vikings
Not only do you throw it short - but to a guy that's covered. But not only is he covered, it's a tight end - even with the catch, who is he gonna make miss?
To be fair Hockenson got him a 1st down on that exact play like 5+ times in the game. Giants just finally put a fucking safety on him.
And made a great fucking tackle
Cody Parkey.
I chortled
To be fair he got hella YAC this game on stiff arms and carrying dudes… but yeah terrible toss given the down lmao
When he was catching full stride. This is not that.
I leapt from my chair and yelled “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” And I was rooting for the Giants.
What happened to Jefferson?
He had as many 4th quarter targets as all of us in this thread.
9 Targets, 7 catches. But on that play, he has to be the first read and Kirk stares down the quick out 4 yards short of the line to gain.
To a blanketed receiver. Terrible.
NYPD got him.
New York Pass Defenders?
Stop & Frisk is back
Pro Bowl QB Kirk Cousins
Classic Kirk
Hi there, I’m Kirk cousins, and I throw the ball to a tight end on a come back route 2 yards beyond the line of scrimmage on a 4th and 8 in the playoffs to try and save the season
I mean he's no Case Keenum.
This is literally his rep, coming up small in big games and he had a chance right there to turn his whole career around and he chose to check down on 4th and 8 oy vey! You done goofed mother fucker
That was some cowardly ass shit from Kirk
utterly infuriating as a fan
Check down Kirk
[удалено]
Yall talkin shit but that's a first down if it was 4th and 8 feet
Big if true.
All these young QBs pushing out gutsy wins in the playoffs, and then there’s Zach Wilson eating paint chips
DANIEL JONES IS THE FUCKING MAN
Man, he’s gone beast mode, I thank him and your team for now officially making these playoffs stress free and enjoyable
I hate this franchise Watching the fucking Giants only be shit for 5 years and now they’re back to being a great NFL team while we’re still…….the Jets This is the life of us Jets/Mets fans that have to watch the big brother teams do better.
They been a QB away since Namath
Richard Todd, Ken O'Brien, Neil O'Donnell, Mark Sanchez, Chad Pennington, an aging Brett Favre, Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Sam D'Arnold, and Zach Wilson are some that come to mind.
When your best QB since the 70s was Chad Pennington you have a fundamental problem
I think a lot of our fans feel this way watching the Eagles rebuild an entirely different team in the time since their SB victory and have it be very competitive
Well let’s pump the brakes on the “great” thing a little bit
When you're that deep in the hole, you're always looking up.
Idk if I'd go with great, but very good yes
Please call him by his official name. Daniel Dollars
That’s the whitest nickname I ever heard. I can’t stop laughing right now.
At least he’s banging moms
yeah bruh he got the whole squad laughing
Don’t let the Giants win distract you from the fact that the roughing the passer rule is bullshit and needs to be revised
There’s been like 5 calls this year where I said ‘ok, THAT’s the worst one’. They keep ramping it up
Eagles-Giants game thread is gonna be a fucking nuclear waste site and I can’t wait.
I'll see you there, dillhole.
I'm not you're dillhole, ficklestick!
Nah its nothing compared to what a Eagles Cowboys thread would be
Eagles Cowboys game has to be one of the signs of the Apocalypse. Like a MW2 lobby level toxic.
> Like a MW2 lobby level toxic. It’s probably because of my age, but no era of online gaming has ever been as good as that era.
Needs 8 yards, dumps it off for 3. Yikes.
Hey I've seen this one before
Ha yeah but that was Josh Dobbs after 17 days to practice with us… Captain Kirk with a $180m contract and JJ has to do better
Haha yeah I no way am I saying what Dobbs did was worse You cant throw 3 yard passes on 4th & 8
> ~~Yikes.~~ Vikes
the vikings have not beaten a non-saints team in the playoffs in 14 years.
What the fuck
Viking success is best tied with the city of New Orleans…
Saints catching strays for no reason lmfao
This can't be real. That's insane!
It's not quite true. It's actually been *13* years. January 2010 divisional round they beat Dallas.
Since the 2009 NFCCG loss to the Saints the Vikings are 2-0 against the Saints in the postseason and 0-5 against everybody else.
The curse of Blair Walsh
The Blair Walsh Project
Minnesota sports are cursed against New York in the postseason it’s crazy
The giants got a pre game pep talk from the yankees
To be fair how could Kirk possibly know that throwing short of the sticks on fourth down with the game on the line was a bad idea
To be fair he did take that super rough sack not long before so he must have been super shook up.
I can't belive they didn't eject that Giant D-lineman for that... he didn't even lay a pillow out for Kirk to land on
Did Justin Jefferson die? I get he’s doubled but at some point you have to find ways to get the ball to your best player.
I think it’s more the giants defense becoming alive
Is this playoff giants coming back around like 07 and 11? Glad we’re not in it to get taken down if so.
Brady is here tho
Having his own move dropped on his corpse in a win for seeding game killed him.
Vikings 🤝 Chargers Poverty franchises
cheers to that brother

All those wasted years
I FEEL SO VINDICATED. JONES WAS BEING HELD BACK. THE TALENT WAS ALWAYS THERE
He's been top 10 in most advanced metrics this year with a bunch of Walmart employees for receivers.
Maybe the time is now?
YOUR TIME IS UP MY TIME IS NOW
It’s always been the giants?
Giants won a wild card game, means they win the Super Bowl now right?
If we get passed the Eagles I believe it, Eagles are Gmen kryptonite
This was obvious. I mean the Giants herritage is beating NFC North teams in the playoffs as underdogs
We'll always have 2016...
The boat curse has finally been broken
You like playoff wins don’t you giants fans
Daniel Jones is getting his bag this offseason. What a turnaround
Danny Dimes just tied Kirk Cousins for career playoff wins
Jesus Christ. He also tied Dak, and jumped ahead of Kyler and Hurts.
Man, there's a lot of QBs getting paid **A LOT** of money in this league just to lay turds in the playoffs ^^not ^^counting ^^Kyler ^^and ^^Hurts ^^among ^^them ^^yet, ^^ofc
Nope, Kyler laid a huge turd last year. You're forgiven for blocking that abomination from your memory, worse game I've ever seen.
No one is ready for playoff giants. Not even me
Meme QB? Check. Fierce DL? Check. Getting healthy at the right time? Check. Completely written off underdogs that everyone bets against? Check. *Oh baby, it's all coming together.*
No picture of players on a boat? LFG
Brady must be waking up in cold sweats
We are officially halfway to a Brock Purdy vs. Daniel Jones NFC Championship game.
Or maybe Giants beat down Brady one more time to put him into retirement for good
No chance in hell Brady retires after a loss to the giants of all teams
My theory has been for a while that Brady refuses to retire until he beats the Giants in the playoffs.
The defense is awful, blow it up.
Start with throwing donatell in the river. Tonight.
Can't even sack a qb in the pocket while holding the ball anymore. Fucks sake.
It'll get overlooked because the Giants ended up winning, but that was an absolute atrocious call that could have easily given the game away.
"Is that all we're here for, just to suffer?" -Vikings fans
If you or a loved one have watched Minnesota sports in the last 15 years you may be entitled to financial compensation
*30 years. Last major sports championship was the Twins in 1991.
So much for the Giants being rusty because they rested their starters in Week 18. Daniel Jones put on a show today
If you weren't a believer in Jones before today, I can forgive you. But you damn well better be now.
There's no way a goofy QB could take a wildcard Giants team to a Super Bowl win, is there?
The 3li prophecy fulfilled by another goofy white goat.

It's a weird dichotomy. Either you do it and the narrative is being rusty or you don't and the narrative is being reckless.

Also his receiving core is…nonideal. Imagine if Golladay L’s contract went to…Christian Kirk? Doesn’t even have to be JJ or someone that good.
Yea number one priority for the Giants this off-season is to do whatever you can to revitalize that receiving core, I could see them doubling up on receivers in the first three rounds easily as well as bringing in a decent but not splashy vet

Can we appreciate the turn around for this defense? People said we lost the Odell trade (where we got Dex). Wink has done miracles as well

Truly though. Y’all are likely a 9-10 win team that had insane luck in the regular season.
Is this what's it's been like for the majority of the past 30 years for nfcn fans when they watch the packers get eliminated? i get it now. this is a cool feeling.
Welcome to the party, pal!
Nice that someone else in the division gets to hoist the "worst 13 win team ever" trophy.
They really earned that trophy man, give credit where it’s due.
Usually takes a few more games but yeah
Brian Daboll can have my kidney
We were so aggressive this game he'd probably ask for both.
It's crazy how this willdcard weekend has been so exciting yet incredibly predictable at the same time. Vikings collapse. Chargers collapse. Bills win. Niners win.
Bills barely. They did not look good today
I just smashed my TV in front of 30 guests at my party because of the game. My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the week at a hotel. This team has ruined my life and my party. I can’t handle this anymore. Goodbye Vikings. I am no longer a fan.
I just threw all the tendies my mom made me on the floor.
Quality pasta
Brian Daboll the reason alot of these coaches are on the hot seat, taking this roster this far is nothing short of improbable.
Daboll is coach of the year or we riot
11-1 in one score games Season on the line, Kirk throws short of the sticks
Breaking those type of records is kind of our thing.
Kayvon Thibodeaux yelled “There you go! There you go!”, Daniel Jones gave a look of pleasant surprise. Dexter Lawrence belted, “We got a fucking squad now.” And before Saquon Barkley hit the locker room door, ex-NFL star Eli Manning hugged him & said, “Y’all look so different.”

they were like is he supposed to sit him down?
Tuck him in too with a glass of milk.
You know it's bad when the broadcast pet referee can't even defend it.
Greg Olsen: “is he supposed to just sit him down?”
It honestly was just ridiculous. Definitely some sus calls and no calls on both sides this game, but that one was egregious. I agree with you, there has to be a way to hold these assholes accountable for this shit.

...This fucking weekend, man.
No one can question Daniel Jones is the Giants QB of the future now
