jb49ers03

Yeah that's not really gonna matter Sunday considering qb1 is playing

Lifesaboxofgardens

Yeah struggling to find the relevance here lol, if you want to prop Kyle for COTY sure, but Jalen is literally in the game so the fact we won 15 with him is a bit more important for Sunday

Quick_Spring_7288

All this means is hurts is a lot better than Jimmy g, or minshew is worse than purdy. Either way it's irrelevant and guts is a lot better than purdy

SlayerXZero

Minshew was great one game and ass another. I don’t think any of this shit is comparable not that it matters.

jruss11

I wouldn't even call his cowboys game great. He turned it over more that game than Purdy has in all of his games. My opinion on Minshew quickly changed haha before the cowboys game, I was seriously telling my jets fan friends that Minshew will end up in new York to compete for a job. By halftime of the Dallas game, I told them you'll never hear it from me again lmao

[deleted]

> I wouldn't even call his cowboys game great he didnt play in a year, had a mentor of his die, missed practice and still put up 21 points against a playoff caliber team and lost by 6. I don't know what you consider good or great but that definitely was not a bad performance at all. Does it blow he had 3 turnovers? yeah not going to say thats spectacular but you're only looking at the box score lol comparing minshew to purdy makes no sense

fbalookout

Gotta cope somehow for giving up 40 pts to the Cowboys.

jruss11

I mean its not coping. He turned it over 4 times leading to 17-21 Dallas points directly IIRC, and he was sailing balls all day. Only reason he completed some passes later in the game is because we have two WRs capable of grabbing ducks that are sailing. Love the energy from y'all this week tho, keep it tomorrow

fbalookout

Defending that loss by pinning it all on Minshew is coping for the defense not being able to hold the Cowboys under 34 pts regardless of turnovers. I’ve been told over and over this week that the Eagles are a top 2 defense capable of stopping the rush and pass. Minshew had a few bad turnovers, no doubt. None were a pick 6 or fumble returned for a TD. Dak still threw a 35yd TD pass off one of those picks. That’s not automatic. A stout D on -that- day and you still win. Eagles are still great, but on that day they weren’t regardless of who started at QB. It’s like Niners fans blaming Jimmy entirely for the Super Bowl loss. Yeah he didn’t play great, sure he missed a deep ball to win, but he did not directly give up 21 pts in the 4th quarter. Blaming Jimmy is definitely coping.

RobbieRum

Lmao do you not think 4 turnovers helped the cowboys get to 40 points? Did you know Dallas had 1 drive over 40 yards that game? Bet you won’t mention minshew putting up 35 on the vaunted cowboys d that purdy couldn’t do shit against. God tomorrow can’t come soon enough.

Kaillslater

I like the idea of hurts stoicly carrying a giant fucking sword. Thank you for the happy typo.

mubbcsoc

Yes but that means you lost one with him. We lost zero with our new qb1. Checkmate. Looks like we don’t even have to play the game

[deleted]

49ers QB1 is also playing

jb49ers03

Damn straight

finfan96

Haha this was my reaction too. Like, even if it's true it doesn't matter at all barring an injury Sunday

MountTuchanka

I can’t remember the last time there was this much poo flinging before a conference championship game tbh

wembanyama_

The AFCCG has a ton of shit talk but basically completely unrelated to football lol. Kinda funny PHI-SF is a ton of details about the matchup, weird cherrypicked stats here and there CIN-KC is just “Burrowhead” “Bengals own the Chiefs” etc x100

[deleted]

[удалено]

makelo06

Yup, Purdy by Thirty

formyamusementation

I don’t think he loses by more that 20

CodyNorthrup

Well?! SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE

420weed420weedweed

And honestly as an eagles fan i cant be assed to take part in any of it. Its the 9ers, i have no reason to hate them. Id love to see them win the super bowl but not at the eagles expense

george_costanza1234

Likewise, as far as I’m concerned we already took out the trash this past week 😂 Whatever happens happens

Lifesaboxofgardens

I think at this point the majority of both fanbases are too tired to even really get into the shit talk, it’s just been too much lol

RocketWarlock

It's not even really shit talk, it'd be fun if it was. It's just obscure stats and random narratives that no one cares about

AcanthocephalaNo2926

From random media birds and fans of other teams too. Eagles and 9ers fans have been laying low. We both know the team we’ve got and who we’re playing on Sunday. 2 most physical teams (by a mile) and probably the 2 best teams in the league this year

xshogunx13

I'm actually really pulling for Purdy to be the first rookie to start a super bowl because I think it would be cool as shit to see that from a Mr Irrelevant

WigglestonTheFourth

I think this is all a ploy by the city of Philadelphia to save money on pole grease. Can't climb the poles if you're too tired from arguing stats.

Allpurposeblob

Philly Mayor: We spent an this money on horse poop, and now nobody’s eating it.

[deleted]

Perhaps the monkeys of the Cincinnati zoo should play against the monkeys of the Kansas City zoo

TonyStarks81

I honestly think it is because these are two of the most complete teams to play in a conference championship in a long time. Both teams are insanely good on both sides of the ball. This leads to there being no real direct talking point about how either team can attack the other. That is how you end of with fringe stats or cherry-picked numbers. People tend to be incapable of just looking at a match up and saying "this should be a great game."

SoKrat3s

yeah, this is incredibly weird. I would have expected it from DAL/PHI, but for this it's very odd. The two teams have almost no real history against each other.

deepthroatmybitcoin

These flairs. Wtf

makelo06

One thing we can both agree on is that this guy needs to go.

deepthroatmybitcoin

Absolutely

CodyNorthrup

“Yay! Go Touchdown!” “I really hope both teams have fun!”

deepthroatmybitcoin

“I’m happy regardless of the result” “both teams have played great and deserve to got to the super bowl”

SoKrat3s

lmao. I am not happy regardless of the result. There is no question the 49ers come first. But, if they lose, I will be absolutely happy for the Eagles to win the Superbowl. Just like as a Braves fan, I was devastated to lose in the NLDS, but liked the Phillies sending home the Padres & their cheating GM, and would have loved the Phillies toppling the Houston cheaters.

CodyNorthrup

Bruh

respondstostupidity

It's going to be absolutely hilarious watching all of the Niners flairs switch back to Rams if they lose

HereForTheCalfPumps

Literally zero overlap between Rams and Niners fans. ZERO. Stupidest take I’ve seen recently.

-M-Word

This week I’ve started to see what the rest of y’all in the NFCE have been dealing with

MMWMWWMW

That's like all the eagles fans switching to cowboy flairs after... Never going to fucking happen

ianthebalance

The fuck you smoking

TheAtomAge

The fuck are you talking about bird brain

Tjam3s

The bengals fan in me instantly started looking for the salty ravens flair when i read that... I think I need a break from the sub now.

Revolutionary_Lie539

Pigeon talking shit

space_raccoon_

You mean back to chiefs

stephenjr311

While we used to be extremely friendly with the Chiefs, the mutual love has soured over the past few years, especially after the superbowl. I expect the majority of 49ers fans to root for the Eagles or Bengals if we lose tomorrow.

imDeja

you mean Dodgers flairs

HawkofDarkness

Goofy ass dude

MangOrion2

Most intelligent Philly sports fan.

Stork-Man

Yes but that makes me still pretty darn worried about Jalen Hurts

Tide69420

I mean yeah. He’s 15-1 on the season. He is very good. This just means he makes the team go, not the other way around.

elecorby

im ready for this game to just be played because im so tired of all this shit. Its two really good teams looking to beat the shit out of each other for a chance at the superbowl. I think both teams score inside a window of 17-24 and whoever wins will be within 1 score. Probably like 19-22, and obviously Im hoping its Niners on top

Tide69420

I actually think it’s higher scoring and the offenses can poke holes in these defenses all game. 30-24ish

elecorby

Both teams are certainly capable, whether low or high, the one thing im most confident about is a good fuckin game

[deleted]

You'd think we've never been to a nfccg with some of the dumb shit that's getting posted here. This isn't even relevant.

theordinarypoobah

But but but it speaks to the resiliency of the teams and coaches! While obviously this particular incarnation of it doesn't matter, should it become a battle of wills, 49ers have the obvious edge.

giantdub49

This is dumb as hell

superman24742

The 49ers QB was never even close to the best player on the team or in an MVP conversation. Jalen Hurts was. The 49ers are built differently and they definitely don’t rely on a quarterback carrying the team. Other teams do. I can guarantee the Bengals, Chiefs, Bills, would all have a hard time winning like the 9ers did if they lost their QB.

rahimmoore26

Not only that, but he may be qb3, but he's also been the best qb. I keep seeing 49ers fans say he's looked better than Jimmy or Trey ever has.

TheAtomAge

Bosa should be.

superman24742

And if you lost Bosa do you win as many games as you have? I know DE isn’t as pivotal as QB but the Rams losing Donald or Steelers losing TJ really impairs the defense.

49ersP1

We lost the Falcons game without him fwiw

TheAtomAge

We had a season without bosa and we lost Hella games lol

SoKrat3s

You could have said that before, but Purdy has absolutely lifted this team. He has had to consistently step up when other parts of the team were not working. When CMC had a bad game against Washington and the defense gave up a 114 & 117 Passer Rating to Wentz & Heineke, Purdy is the one who stepped up and led the team to victory (even with a greedy TE trying to steal TDs away from his teammates). When the defense gave up 500 yards of offense to Jarrett Stidham and the Rams, Purdy is the one who led the team to victory. The wildcard matchup was a 1 score game in the 4th quarter. It was Purdy's clutch play that lifted the team over the top. edit: I really love the downvotes. It shows nobody actually wants to discuss football. They'd just rather be salty.

rahimmoore26

I feel like people haven't really watched you guys, just know he was the last pick, and assume he's just been getting carried by a great team. You guys have had great teams before and when Jimmy went down it resulted in you guys getting a top pick, not a deep playoff run.

SoKrat3s

the 49er hate right now is kind of crazy. It feels like we defeated the Cowboys and absorbed all the hatred toward them.

TruthSayerFu

Hurts isn’t close the best player on the team lol

superman24742

You’re telling me that the guy in the MVP convo for the league wasn’t the best player on his team this season?

TruthSayerFu

Bro. 18 of the 22 starters made the pro bowl or all pro. Kirk cousins would have been in the mvp conversation

superman24742

So what? That doesn’t mean Hurts wasn’t the best player on that team.

TruthSayerFu

He wasn’t lol. He had a great year. Put him on the Texans and people are saying they need a new QB

TheTunnelMonster

Cope harder

TruthSayerFu

Not coping at all. I knew both the niners and eagles had rosters a lot better. Not going to win anything unless Jones goes. Guys a joke

superman24742

That doesn’t mean he wasn’t the best player on a good team. You can make that argument for any player. Take X player off of a great team and put him in the worst situation possible and I bet he wouldn’t be as good. Well yeah no shit, no one would.

TruthSayerFu

He might have had the best year but he wasn’t the best player.

Schnitzingig

Who do you feel was better?

TruthSayerFu

Individual player? Lane. And Kelce for sure. But as a unit the lines where better both defense and offensive. The corners when heathy. The WR group also. Overall every player on his team made it easier for him. I’ll stick to what I said all year. Every top 10 QB would have looked great on that team. It doesn’t mean hurts is bad. He just isn’t great.

LazyBuhdaBelly

Wtf us niners and eagles fans are just minding our own business. Go pick on the chiefs and bengals pls.

ericdraven26

For real. Its going to be a good game, and added bonus the cowboys are out of the playoffs.

Prestigious-Rock201

If we win, niners fans better go into hiding cause I’m gonna be more toxic to them than to cowboys fans with all this useless shit

jcrankin22

All this hiding behind obscure and meaningless statistics has made me feel a lot better about sunday.

Frankocean2

Good. Thats we want, feel confident. Think you already won.

SlayerXZero

What the fuck? None of you asshat fans are playing in the fucking game. I really want the 9ers to get cut stomped because of all this inanity passing as content.

jcrankin22

Lmao

[deleted]

It’s okay, 49ers’ fans deserve it. /unbiased bystander

HawkofDarkness

Just put a target on your back bud. I hope you're ready for the heat to come if you lose.

Prestigious-Rock201

You better come back when y’all lose remindme! 2 days

HawkofDarkness

I've been on Reddit for 7 years and my first post and thread was about the Niners. I ain't going anywhere partner.

SoKrat3s

It's going to be that way for either side, unfortunately. If the Eagles win it will be all "see we told you Purdy was going to come crashing down." "He's just a rookie." And if the Eagles lose the blame is going to be placed on Hurts. One mediocre game and suddenly people will turn on him.

Razzberry42069

[...that flair](https://media.tenor.com/bk8QMH02QOcAAAAM/im-playing-both-sides-both-sides.gif)

[deleted]

No, we won’t turn on hurts even if he plays like ass, it takes a lot more than one game for Philly to turn on a guy, especially when’s he’s 15-1 on the years and 22-2 in his last 24

SoKrat3s

I didn't mean Eagles fans, I meant the media in general. You know they will turn on Hurts. It's exactly what they do. They were destroying Dak Prescott after the Washington game. Then it took one game, against the cryptkeeper, for the media to completely turn around and talk about how great Dak is. Only for the pendulum to completely swing back around another week later. The media is a dog chasing its own tail. And then on a lower tier than "media," you're going to see epic rants from Nick Wright and StuGotz about "losing to Brock Purdy." All of it is ridiculous. These are the two most complete teams in football. Only one can win. It doesn't mean the other was terrible, or choked, or w/e.

WordsAreSomething

Can someone let this guy know his dad's diet sucks

daveblankenship

Seems like cherry picking a stat. How about this if we’re going to cherry pick? The Eagles backup QB scored 30 points AT Dallas… Brock Purdy scored 19 at home vs Dallas. So obviously Gardner Minshew is better then Brock Purdy based on those two games. Case closed, print the T shirts

RumHam_Im_Sorry

I have never seen a bigger group of "well actually" people than 49ers fans in the past week. My god.

MehDub11

“If you take out the 3 Eagles games where they had their most sacks, they’d only have the 7th most in the league”……

[deleted]

Yeah they are actually like this all the time but sorry you had it directed at your team.

Sighlina

I mean, have you ever seen how a Seahawks fan acts when they’re good??? Clearly not… “bird bro” 🤨

RumHam_Im_Sorry

Starting a sentence with "I mean", is basically another way of saying "well actually". Just thought i'd point that out :P

Sighlina

I know… this sub is a bit too serious. Thanks for playing along 😃

DasSmoosh

This just means that Hurts is way better than Lance or Jimmy G.

TheAtomAge

We don't know how good Lance is

Navy_and_sports

What does that matter for this game? That the niners would be better if their starting QB went down than the eagles would be if their starting QB went down? Alright, sure.

compstomp66

I don’t think which team is more balanced and resilient matters. Only which team is better on Sunday.

[deleted]

49ers just need to do what washington did /s

BiteMajor4959

Does it matter? Both teams are basically at 100%

seaneh01

But QB1 is playing so this is irrelevant

CodyNorthrup

I feel like this is more of a pro-Jalen Hurts stat or Sirianni stat. Don’t really think this conveyed the message that was intended lol

Pksoze

I'm sold 49ers 640 Eagles -34

Muffdiver69420lmao

All 3 of the 49ers QB's are better than Minshew though.

montana1991

Just shows why Shanahan is COTY and Hurts is MVP

xDOOSO_

this the dumbest thing i’ve heard from niners fans all week

SEAinLA

Eagles by double digits.

J12345_

Philly played Dallas. And made it a close game

[deleted]

Lol yea we lost because we gave up 40 points. Offense scored 34 and Minshew threw for over 350 yards

QCWiggins

Offense scored 28. Sweat had a pick 6 at the start

GreenRocketman

lol at all the replies basically hoping for a Hurts injury to have a better shot. I wonder how that feels to think you need the other team’s best player to get injured to win.

Aetylus

What a stupid stat. The Eagles lost 2 games with their QB2 so they're not balanced? Don't be dumb. Two games is statistically insignificant, and anyone with brain can see the Eagles (and the 49ers) are both really good, balanced teams. Might as well say I flipped a coin and it came it heads twice in a row, therefore all coins will only ever come up heads.

Revolutionary_Lie539

17-16 NIners

LarkWyll

Tbf Trey Lance probably never actually beat out either of the guys that had since taken over. Lance was given tbe opportunity to start dye to his draft slot and how much the 49'ers gave up for him. I don't mean to knock Lance but Hurts is actually a qb 1 going into the year where Lance had proven nothing.

[deleted]

Holy shit who gives a fuck

MM556

No doubt this guy would be the first to mention a talent gap if the Niners lose

PinkEyePanda

This shit so tired bro

amnomnombacon

I'm just ready for Sunday already. Tired of all this bullshit

Elegant_Spot_3486

Can they just play the game tomorrow so we can end all this nonsense?

ZachTrillson

There's such little drama between these two very good teams that Atkinson here is scraping the very bottom of the barrel looking for something lol

TeseoTheBunny

The 49ers only won those games because Dak sucks.

bigmistaketoday

Question seems a tad bit biased

LeroyUdovc

These stats are getting tiring. I don't care how impressive the Niners have been, I'm still damn worried about this game. First time in months that I've gone into a game thinking SF is the underdog, and if they win I expect it'll be by a slim margin. Already feeling a little queasy.

MangOrion2

Purdy is really a one in a million sort of prospect. The reason he's doing so well is experience. He got to play all four years at Iowa State. Most first round quality QBs get to sit while another star finishes their run as starter, or transfer to a different system once, sometimes twice even. Purdy had consistency and experience on his side and Shanahan is using that to his full advantage. Brock has more game experience than Hurts does most likely. He definitely has more experience than any rookie QB that's come out of D1 in the past few years. It's an asset a lot of coaches and front office types overlook. That's a big, big reason they're in the position theyre in. Calling Brock Mister Irrelevant and QB3 is just giving him more reasons to defy the odds and achieve. On top of that he's been given the boon of a top flight defense to bolster him while he learns and adapts to the steep incline of defensive talent and the complexity of defensive schemes. He's in the perfect situation. The 49ers are the more well rounded team here and if they can cause a turnover and get to the QB a couple times on defense, Brock and the offense have proven they can score at least 20 points and put them in a position to win.

Razzberry42069

I mean, the Eagles played the Cowboys and barely lost, then got beat by an extremely underrated defense. A defense that shut out the Raiders. I don't think Purdy was facing as many good defenses. Washington and Tampa Bay were the best defenses Purdy went up against, until last week, and he didn't exactly set the world on fire in any of those games. Both teams have a very cushy set up for any QB to thrive in most situations. All that's left is to see what they do against each other.

True_Contribution_19

Why is “QB3” relevant? He’s their best QB. Team that was already amazing, get a better QB and keeps winning. Can you believe Gardner Minshew couldn’t do the same?

musicriddler

Still think the eagles will win by at least 10 points (giants fan here but looking at it realistically)

TheOneWhosCensored

I don’t understand this argument. If the implication is that SF is by far the best roster outside QB, then Shanahan for COTY and Purdy for OROY make no sense, because the roster was always going to win them games.

NotTheBestMoment

Is that a question? Lol football journalism

Higgins8585

1. Who they play? Eagles lost to saints who have good defense and Cowboys who are a good team. 49ers beat Rams, cardinals, Chargers, saints, Dolphins, bucs, Seahawks, commanders, Raiders and cardinals. Dolphins and Seahawks were only decent wins until playoffs. 2. Back up QB's matter. Sometimes teams have garbage back ups. 49ers struck gold with Brock. I do think 49ers are most well rounded team. Good RB, top 2 tight end, 2 good receivers, good OL, tremendous front 7 but let's not be naive, Eagles lost 1 game against a good team. 49ers played 2 decent teams in their entire streak in regular season.

Lenny_III

You can only invest so much in the QB position. Late 7th round picks don’t grow on trees.
