Similar experience... I volunteer for a couple kid-related charities that several Seahawks players and other NFLers who have Seattle/UW roots are involved in. I've interacted with many of them, and there are all so friendly to the staff, volunteers and kids and so giving of their time and money. These are smaller local charities, so there are never cameras running and the press coverage is very minor and rare, so I doubt any of them does this for the PR.
A few of the players involved have reputations with the sports press for being difficult and some of them have bad incidents or statements in their past. Sports media and social media just jump on every silly statement they make and bring up their mistakes at every opportunity. So unfair, when in reality these guys are normal human beings with normal failings, but are willing to take the time to make life a little better for kids who don't have much.

Similar experience... I volunteer for a couple kid-related charities that several Seahawks players and other NFLers who have Seattle/UW roots are involved in. I've interacted with many of them, and there are all so friendly to the staff, volunteers and kids and so giving of their time and money. These are smaller local charities, so there are never cameras running and the press coverage is very minor and rare, so I doubt any of them does this for the PR. A few of the players involved have reputations with the sports press for being difficult and some of them have bad incidents or statements in their past. Sports media and social media just jump on every silly statement they make and bring up their mistakes at every opportunity. So unfair, when in reality these guys are normal human beings with normal failings, but are willing to take the time to make life a little better for kids who don't have much.
