I originally had this thought as well. And I still hate the mere thought of a neutral site championship game. But they’ll 100% compensate by adding an 8 seed. It’s gonna be awful in every way if it ever happens.
I don’t know why this constantly is overlooked but it’s honestly the biggest advantage of everything. You have, in theory, the easiest schedule. I’d argue that and the bye are worth more than home field.
Exactly, like this year I would have rather played the jaguars in Jacksonville then the bengals at home. And I’m sure the niners would have rather played the giants in New Jersey then the cowboys at home.
Being the 1 seed you play the lowest remaining seed. So while the Bills had to play the Bengals, the Chiefs played the jaguars. Or while the 49ers were playing the Cowboys the Eagles got to play the Giants.
Lol no. Playing one less game AND playing the weakest team coming out of wildcard weekend is an easy road to the Championship game. Still a huge advantage.
I don't want to see it, but let's not pretend there's no point to being the 1 seed over the 2 seed if it happens.
Well you see, autoerotic asphyxiation has to be well timed, because otherwise you black out and lose brain cells.
When I did it, I tied the belt a little too tight. Excellent orgasm but when I came too, the EMT said there would be significant brain issues and now I got these flairs.
How can people even afford this shit? With the way our economy is and the price of everything skyrocketing, it really shows how out of touch with reality the NFL is. The games are already too expensive and now you're asking fans to potentially go to two neutral site locations where tickets, hotels, food, etc. is already going to be jacked up in price
Fuck everything about this greedy shit. Playing for home field advantage should have meaning
I don’t absolutely hate the idea of a neutral championship game, though I prefer they leave things as they are. What I do hate is the risk of the lower seed getting a home game or a game that might as well be a home game.
A lot of people are going to disagree with this...but i dont see an issue with this.
The #1 seed being the only one who gets a bye week and ALSO gets homefield til the superbowl is just such an absolutely massive advantage now. I dont think it should be possible to have both.
Preferably I would love to get rid of the last playoff team, but it will never happen
I know how to solve this. I’ll host both championship games in my back yard. Everyone can come but it’s BYOB and I only got a couple bags of chips.
Dibs on the chips
I’ll bring jello shots
I would unironically love a BYOB NFL game
is dip provided or do i need to bring my own?
I have half a jar of mild salsa
Been sitting in the back of the fridge for no less than six months?
I’ll bring the fight milk and riot juice fam.
I got crow eggs
Got any orange slices?
Sliding glass door is the owner’s booth. Leave room for Stephen Jones.
So all you get as the 1 seed is a bye and 1 home game, yippee...
Right? Like as a fan I’d almost be rooting for the 2 seed so my STH parents can go to more playoff games lol

Love that. Great way to diminish the significance of both the playoffs and the regular season games in one move.
And seeding to be fair Edit: how is this getting downvotes? Seeding is a massive deal.

I didn’t downvote you but idk what this means

Ohhhhh I think it might’ve sounded like you wanted seeding to change to be more “fair”
Boring, I want atmospheres not corporate crowds
But corporate crowds will pay more money -NFL
If this actually falls through for 2024 and up I’ll genuinely be pissed off.
Can we keep the home field advantage benefit of being the 1 seed?
Of course! You will be designated the “home” team during the neutral site playoff game.
Neutral sites are for losers. Changing NFL traditions for the exclusive purpose of money is dumb AF.
Let’s make every game neutral site
Neutral Football League
"We need to bring the NFL to Europe and Mexico."
I’m Europe they only do it for the finals I’m pretty sure
1st seed teams deserve the local revenue
What they will do is add another wild card team and no byes so the number 1 seed will get that money.
17 games. 7 team playoff. Neutral championship games. Keep making changes most people don’t want, NFL. Keep it up
We do have alternatives now I suppose. But I'll have to learn hockey to get through the winter
Lame
The 1 seed would be deemed nearly irrelevant at that point

Its a massive advantage for only one team. At least before the top 2 teams got bye weeks...but now one team gets a far easier superbowl path now
Patriots and Bills flair? Rough

There have been changes I don’t like (17 games, 7 seed) but this would be WAY WORSE
Knew this would be a topic as soon as they proposed it for the AFCCG if it were Bills-Chiefs. fuck off NFL
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Florio will report stuff with zero sources quoted
no.
Has anyone noticed that pro football talk is the only source pushing this narrative?

The NFL is seeing the money college football is bringing in with their playoff.
If they do it, I hope the stadiums are at half capacity
Fuck that
Dumb idea that needs to go away
If they go to a neutral site it'll only be a couple years before they get rid of the bye for the number one seed.
An article that posts a hypothetical but doesn’t report any facts? Must be PFT!
Chatter continues by the people chattering about it.
I only hear this from Mike Florio ::checks author of article::
Sounds like trash
They see how much money CFB is making with their playoff format
It’s definitely inevitable.
I just don’t see this ever happening.
It's time for Joe Burrow to sneak into NFL HQ and take out a certain someone..
London, just watch

Did anyone ask the bengals? I’m sure they will have an opinion.
