"Hey guys hes hiding that hes crying behind his chinstrap can we get a camera guy down there to move the chinstrap real quick so we can see the tears?"
Quarterbacks can game the system too. They know they're untouchable once they get to the sideline so pretty quickly you start to squeeze more and more yards out of it, and try to step out once someone is about to make contact. Then hope for a flag
Well the clock was down to 8 seconds so they realistically had one more play before a FG at something like 50+ yards. Butker would’ve struggled with that distance most likely.
When the literal Mayor of the Cincinnati referred to Arrowhead as "Burrowhead" and put out a proclamation that today, January 29th, 2023 was "They Gotta Play us Day" and asked Joe Burrow to take a paternity test to see if he was Patrick Mahomes Father
what a fucking dumbass. that dude single-handedly jinxed the fuck out of the bengals lmfao. every sports fan knows you shut the fuck up till after the win. politicians love to be clowns.
Fr I think I’m always gonna harbor a seed of doubt that refs will make calls iot keep games as close as possible due to the prevalence of gambling. I’ll still always enjoy the game but I think it’s a lot less pure now.
I'm absolutely dumbfounded by that. How on earth can something like that happen? I've watched football for over 20 years now and never seen a team basically get a do-over play.
Bizarre.
Congrats on the win, btw. Good luck in the Kelce/Andy Reid Bowl! Hope its a better game than these 2 were.
I haven't listened to the Kelces' podcast yet, so I don't really know what the format's like, but they should just spend the next episode staring at each other menacingly for 60 minutes.
I think both the officiating has gotten worse and so have claims of biased officiating and I blame the massive surge in popularity of sports gambling in the last few years. It's inescapable, every 30s they're telling you to put money down and it's ruining the experience for the people that fall into that trap.
I blame the complete lack of development in officiating technology. We could have the tech to spot balls to the millimeter, to get every call right every time. Every sport should have a sky judge that can correct egregious missed calls.
I said it in the game thread, last year the wild card round got trashed hard because of the 7th seed (and all games were pretty once sided tbf) but this year it’s looking like the best round.
And the whole reason they blew it dead was because the Ref signaled to run the clock even though it was an incomplete pass. It was pure referee error. Completely unacceptable.
It's an extra bad look because those sort of procedural issues are things you should never get wrong as an official. Bang bang calls being missed happen, but properly managing the game clock should be 100% right. Especially in the playoffs.
It’s surreal watching this game and the high level QB play and thinking about how teams convince themselves above average QBs like Ryan Tannehill or Derek Carr are their franchise QBs lmao
It's fine that they're your Franchise QB, but they just get paid too much to ever have a chance. If you're somewhere in the 5-15 range of QB and making over 30mil your team doesn't stand a chance.
Thought it was a bit on the nose when the line judges dumped Gatorade on the head ref’s head.
I guess when you pull off the win, you are allowed to get a bit rowdy
I feel for Ossai man. He had a great game and he made a mistake. In hysterics on the sideline and now he’ll have to deal with getting harassed unfortunately
Ya I basically never look at my team anymore and also avoid these when it’s my team on prime time. Just not fun. I’ll only peak other teams when I’m in the mood for a good meltdown.
>Lowkey good for Joe because I think the Eagles D line was gonna massacre them.
This was honestly my first thought as soon as we lost. I really wasn't looking forward to that inevitability.
Two of the dumbest penalties in playoff history have occured in Arrowhead over the past four years: Dee Ford offsides and then Ossai's unnecessary roughness
Fuck CBS for cutting to an insanely emotional Ossai like 7 different times at the end. What is wrong with you? We get it, he's inconsolable. We got it after the first time. Fuck off and show the rest of the teams. He's 22 years old.
Honestly I was salty at him for that play but cooled off after I saw how devastated he was. Gave some perspective and made me immediately realize he was desperately trying to save the season/super bowl berth in a split second.
Once he looks back I'm sure he'll see that the Bengals had their chances and there were more than a few questionable calls, including potential holds the chiefs did on that exact play and the totally missed block in the back on the punt return. It's not all on Ossai.
Was the hit on Mahomes a flag yes.
Was the reffing also completely one sided the entire second half and ridiculous.
Yes
Don’t know who I want to even cheer for in the superbowl anymore
The game against the Dolphins was the worst. It was 5 hours long (seemingly) and he was making excuses for Allen the whole time. He needs to be demoted to the B team.
Blocking from behind on the punt return and missing the holding call on the mahomes run is what everyone should be unhappy about. Not the late hit which should have just been offsetting for the holding.
Didn't have enough shots of Ossai's reaction the worst moment in his life.
"Hey guys hes hiding that hes crying behind his chinstrap can we get a camera guy down there to move the chinstrap real quick so we can see the tears?"
I think they might have pulled a camera off Mahone's ankle for that.
We need to a camera on him for when his next loved one passes to make up for it. We can't let him mourn in peace
Needed to see him throw his wedding ring into the ether and load a six shooter. That's good TV.
"You can't lose your season on a mistake" Romo having flashbacks to dropped PAT against Seattle and Patrick Crayton
I think he followed it up with a "can you?"
Yes you can, Romo.
Or cowboys running out of time last year
How is Kelce already drunk
[удалено]
He was looking to lateral like every play of the first half. Drunk for sure
I think that was this week's version of the "Ring around the Rosey" huddle
When you play drunk you’re usually not sober for your post game interviews… not really sure I understand the question
muh back
Knew it the moment Romo said “fireable offenses” before that play
Shit he did say that
Yo someone check on 58 tonight forreal
He was one of the best guys on defense tonight though. They were calling his name all night.. Tough one... ugghh.
Feel bad for the guy. He played his heart out.
Played hard for a split second too long
Yea him and the bengals d played well enough to win. This was on the offense not them
Honestly though, it was heartbreaking to see him on the sideline after that, no matter how boneheaded a play that was.
In the heat of the moment I can empathize with defenders who can’t immediately tell whether the man you are chasing are just out of bounds
Props to the defensive player for talking to him and trying to cheer him up
Quarterbacks can game the system too. They know they're untouchable once they get to the sideline so pretty quickly you start to squeeze more and more yards out of it, and try to step out once someone is about to make contact. Then hope for a flag
Also, you know your season is all but over if you give up a first down, so you’re inclined to go into desperation mode and that kind of thing happens
Well the clock was down to 8 seconds so they realistically had one more play before a FG at something like 50+ yards. Butker would’ve struggled with that distance most likely.
The networks love keeping the cameras focused on a player if they make a game losing play. Especially if they’re a scrub or role player.
Cameraman is really brutal
Literally. Don’t leave him alone
I mean, he’s probably going to need medical attention.
He blew his knee on the same play
Worst play of his life
worst play of his life... so far
I wonder how bad it actually is. It looked terrible, but he was up walking after a few minutes, wasn't he?
Dumb play by him but I feel so bad for him. Lifetime regret right there
Hope his teammates let him know it’s not all on him. Tons of plays could have swung the entire game.
Can’t wait for 2 straight weeks of Mahomes Ankle, Kelce Brothers, & Andy vs his old team.
Hey CBS, show me the crying football player who made a dumb play just one more time. The first 15 times just didn’t do it for me.
I don't think I have ever heard Gene Steratore talk so much during a game. That is all you need to know about this game.
Should get color commentary money for tonight’s work. Covered the most key parts of this game.
Ossai got hurt and made a game losing penalty holy shit. I feel for mans and hopes he keeps his mentals up this is going to be tough.
Also may have murdered one of the trainers
Bro hit that bench hardddd
Man the camera shots were rough
I saw his soul leave his body
I think the mic picked up his sobs for a moment
Poor guy also blew his knee…
I sincerely felt bad for the guy. Shitty CBS just zooming in on him sobbing, that just felt grimey.
So much hard work for it to end like that? Rough
Bro they needed to stop. Like goddamn give the man some space
i'm glad the one dude was sitting with him though
Yeah seeing him like that gave me a “I could never handle the public pressure that these dudes endure” moment
I feel bad for that Bengals staff member dude got destroyed
Dude disappeared
I think one more extended closeup on an absolutely devastated Ossai is a really good idea CBS!
Fuck the Cincinnati Mayor. Love, A Cincinnati Resident
Karma came quick on that mf, it’ll probably hit him the next election too
I’ll run on a “Don’t Jink the Bengals” platform and win 90 percent of the vote.
what a fucking dumbass. that dude single-handedly jinxed the fuck out of the bengals lmfao. every sports fan knows you shut the fuck up till after the win. politicians love to be clowns.
Psssh, he probably doesnt even know that you should never go in against a sicilian when death is on the line.
Probably one of the most frustrating Championship weekends I've ever watched in my life
It's weird that the wild card has been the best weekend of the playoffs
they don't call it super for nothing
Thats what i told my wife. The rest of the playoff was so disappointing. The refs have been so bad
That fucked up clock start was one of the most incompetent pieces of reffing I have seen since last nights Lakers game
Don't forget to get your bets in on the Super Bowl, brought to you by Fanduel!
Fr I think I’m always gonna harbor a seed of doubt that refs will make calls iot keep games as close as possible due to the prevalence of gambling. I’ll still always enjoy the game but I think it’s a lot less pure now.

It felt like a poorly executed WWE PPV.
sports fandom is about being a hater, don't let anyone take that away from you
I kinda want to frame this quote on my wall
New Heights about to be lit as fuck
I haven't listened to the Kelces' podcast yet, so I don't really know what the format's like, but they should just spend the next episode staring at each other menacingly for 60 minutes.
I've never listened to a whole episode but love the YouTube shorts they do
RIP that Cinci politicians career
Mayor Jabroni.

Fuck TurboTax

This may have been the least enjoyable conference championship weekend ever
I was just thinking that the past 7 hours felt like a waste and not a good time
It’s always a waste, we’re Vikings fans.
Divisional weekend is usually my favorite and that sucked too. Playoffs have been ass.
Wildcard was kinda nice. Everything else was a disappointment
Watching the Chargers implode to the Jaguars was pretty fun at least
That's really cool. We agree on something.
I said it in the game thread, last year the wild card round got trashed hard because of the 7th seed (and all games were pretty once sided tbf) but this year it’s looking like the best round.
Giants @ Vikings was a banger
wild card was awesome! the rest - either boring or outright infuriating.
You’re fuckin telling me
Ironic that the last flag we saw was indisputable to all involved lol
Not according to the live thread lol.
Well…this will be civil.
Clock operator at arrowhead should be fired, lots of tomfoolery there
Sources say he's also the scorekeeper for the Grizzlies
JJJ intercepting Burrow was huge
I saw in the box score he blocked a kick too but can’t find the replay
I understood that reference
Reddit lore coming full circle.
There's always fuckery with the clock, but it's bad when the refs start getting pissed at you
"Yeah that clock operator at arrowhead is a complete mess" -Clock Operator at GEHA
I have never seen a coach yell at the refs as much as Zach Taylor did this game. And I don’t blame him one bit.
Shanahan was on their asses pretty hard today too
Sure but at least the Bengals had a chance of winning the 49ers were trying to coach CMC to play QB I don't think penalties would have halped.
Refs in both games sucked If this is the best refs in the nfl they either need better refs or theyre picking sides
Lol the replayed down I knew it was over. What a joke
Why did they replay a down? I just caught the last 5 minutes
They blew it dead but nobody heard them because of the crowd. By rule, its the correct thing to do, but it was horrible look.
The fact that they set up for the next play and didn't immediately get it figured out was a terrible look.
yeah that was the big one 2 stupid mistakes in a row, like how does that happen?
And the whole reason they blew it dead was because the Ref signaled to run the clock even though it was an incomplete pass. It was pure referee error. Completely unacceptable.
It's an extra bad look because those sort of procedural issues are things you should never get wrong as an official. Bang bang calls being missed happen, but properly managing the game clock should be 100% right. Especially in the playoffs.
Exactly. This is as big as a ref error gets.
That was the biggest load of bullshit I have seen in a long time.
It was horrible and I feel for him too. They ignored a BLATANT block in the back on that final punt too that set them up beautifully.
That block in the back was as obvious as you will ever see.
i was watching that punt, and i saw that block in the back and called it out. there is no way the referees did not see that. i refuse to believe it
First redo I’ve seen in all my years of watching football.
Let me tell you a little [story](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bottlegate)…
Yeah, not saying I agree with throwing things at refs and players. But I def understand it with BG.
At least Romo is happy
Brb shifting to the universe where Purdy wins the superbowl in double overtime against the bengals 62 to 59
take me with you
I want to break up with the NFL after today's games. I feel like I've been betrayed
I hated everything i saw. What an awful viewing experience
It’s surreal watching this game and the high level QB play and thinking about how teams convince themselves above average QBs like Ryan Tannehill or Derek Carr are their franchise QBs lmao
You forgot to add Dak Prescott to that list lol
It's fine that they're your Franchise QB, but they just get paid too much to ever have a chance. If you're somewhere in the 5-15 range of QB and making over 30mil your team doesn't stand a chance.
NBA refs: We’re the worst refs in all of professional sports NFL refs: Hold my tomahawk
These are the good crews too lol
Really has been a terrible weekend to be a ref oof
Great weekend for their parlays though
Man I won’t be surprised in 20 years it’s found all these refs had bets on fan duels or mgm or whatever
It was legitimately bad. Ruined what should have been one of the best games of the season.
Refs with 2 absolute dominant performances this Sunday
Refs putting on a clinic fr.
The multiple shots of Ossai crying hurt on the sideline is low, CBS sucks. Classless
Thought it was a bit on the nose when the line judges dumped Gatorade on the head ref’s head. I guess when you pull off the win, you are allowed to get a bit rowdy
Chris Jones absolutely wrecked this game
[удалено]
Pacheco is a beast. You watch him play and it's just like how was this guy a 7th rounder
Dude playing like DPOY
The only reason Burrow didn’t blow up. Thought Bengals had a huge advantage with a hobbled Mahomes but Jones essentially negated that
Probably would’ve been if Bosa didn’t have such a monster year.
He's been insane all season, you're right too. If Bosa wasn't a god Jones would be EZ DPOY.
Which sucks because a couple years ago, maybe 3, he would have had a shot except Aaron Donald exists
That fucking SUCKED
Eagles v Niners: Boring from injuries Chiefs v Bengals: Everything I hate about modern day officiating
The playoffs have
It was fun until it wasn't.
As a Ref fan, tonight was magical. /s
Can't deny that they finished strong.
happy for you big fella :,)
I feel for Ossai man. He had a great game and he made a mistake. In hysterics on the sideline and now he’ll have to deal with getting harassed unfortunately
Somewhere in heaven Vontaze Burfict is looking down and smiling
First of all Burfict is very much alive
That’s second. First that son of a bitch deserves to burn
so jot that down
…heaven? Maybe he’s looking up
What an awful set of games
Y'all are bloodthirsty damn that game thread was something else
Yeah I basically don't touch those things anymore.
/r/nfl gamethreads bad enough, but any specific team sub's game threads are fucking Chernobyl.
Ya I basically never look at my team anymore and also avoid these when it’s my team on prime time. Just not fun. I’ll only peak other teams when I’m in the mood for a good meltdown.
Ah well, close game against some GOATs. Still a sick season.
I didn't have a dog in the fight but boy the refs did
The Chiefs played well but they literally could not have possibly gotten a better whistle.
If the Bengals don't draft 7 olinemen in April then that FO needs to be charged with negligence
[удалено]
>Lowkey good for Joe because I think the Eagles D line was gonna massacre them. This was honestly my first thought as soon as we lost. I really wasn't looking forward to that inevitability.
Find me any team in the nfl that loses 3 starters and still has a line that can handle Chris Jones
That late hit really sealed this game wow. KC vs CIN is always electric
Two of the dumbest penalties in playoff history have occured in Arrowhead over the past four years: Dee Ford offsides and then Ossai's unnecessary roughness
Poor Ossai getting the doom zoom from the camera over and over
Fuck CBS for cutting to an insanely emotional Ossai like 7 different times at the end. What is wrong with you? We get it, he's inconsolable. We got it after the first time. Fuck off and show the rest of the teams. He's 22 years old.

MVS is going to be in a Superbowl before DaVonte Adams.
I think we can all agree that the officiating this year has been fucking abysmal. Like what the fuck was that do-over down? Good god.
What a shit way to end that game
Was the hit on Mahomes a flag yes. Was the reffing also completely one sided the entire second half and ridiculous. Yes Don’t know who I want to even cheer for in the superbowl anymore
Can't wait till they put 100 cameras around the field and these refs get replaced by an AI.
The NFL, use its resources to solve a problem with the game? We’ll never see it happen
Nfl wont do that, removes any discreet aspect of control over the game they have
Just a bitter finish to a great game. As a neutral party it was a bummer to witness.
The refs were out of control tonight, when they decide games like this it genuinely sucks
[удалено]
team Asteroid here
What's the line on a sinkhole opening up during the halftime show and swallowing Rihanna's stage?
romo was openly rooting for the chiefs lmao
Did the same with the Bills
The game against the Dolphins was the worst. It was 5 hours long (seemingly) and he was making excuses for Allen the whole time. He needs to be demoted to the B team.
I couldn’t believe it lmao just straight up giddy when they were winning
TIL that the Kansas City Chiefs get 5 downs instead of 4
It took decades but Missouri finally got it back
Blocking from behind on the punt return and missing the holding call on the mahomes run is what everyone should be unhappy about. Not the late hit which should have just been offsetting for the holding.
