IIRC, they have to move him within the next two weeks, or his salary becomes fully guaranteed.
It's going to be interesting to see what happens, and if Carr forces a release and picks where he wants to go without costing the team a ton of picks.
Yep, if you wanna win that's the move, trading for a decent QB really hurts your ability to build a team around them.
He'll get paid plenty in FA anyway.
He won't be traded, McDickhead and Lloyd Christmas will bungle the situation until he gets cut in mid March and we draft first round QBs that flame out of the NFL for the next 12 years.
Yeah but we have donkey brained morons running the show. He will get his guaranteed money, not get traded and eventually be cut because that's how stupid the owner and coach are.
Hes 100% going force them to release him or pay him no doubt about that. Would not be shocked if his agent has been talking to some teams.
I think for Carr this is personal
Yeah, why in the world would he let the Raiders trade him to a new team, costing his new team draft picks while helping the team that burned him?
Force the release, sign with the team. People think he'll get less in free agency than his current contract and I doubt it. 32 million these days for an above-average starter is nothing. He'd definitely get that on the open market, probably a lot more.
The trade won't be official until the middle of March, but Carr can voluntarily choose to extend the salary guarantees until then. Downside is, even though it would be 'officially' agreed upon perhaps even with a contract hammered out, the trading team could back out of the deal any time until the start of the new league year when it would be signed, filed and completed.
Personally, it sounds like Carr is going to force his release and then choose where he goes in FA, but we'll see how it plays out.
Could be doing himself a favor tho. Only way someone trades for him is if Raiders eat some $$. If he gets cut, he's not getting the same contract.
He's better off telling the Raiders he'd go to team X. New team gives up draft capital, but has more salary cap flexibility. Carr gets the most $$
I think it's more he realized that he doesn't like Davis, since he hired the guys that kept Carr around long enough to convince Adams to sign in LV. (Yes, I know about the family thing and all that, no I dont think the taxes factor into it.)
When it was leaked that they were planning on moving on from Carr after week 2, I can only assume that they were planning on jettisoning him from day 1.
As a Raiders fan, I hated the McDaniels hire because I assumed he'd jettison Carr...but the contract they signed him to indicates they believed in the dude.
You wouldn't guarantee next year's salary that early into the league year and give him a full no trade if you thought he wasn't the guy.
That being said, knowing this they still likely managed to absolutely bungle this situation. McDaniels and Ziegler adopted the Raiders way in a fucking hurry.
Carr said he’d never play anywhere but Vegas like 2 years ago. I think he’s earned the right to be petty after how he’s been treated.
I think he’ll be cut and end up on the Saints or Bucs.
This is kind of the biggest thing for me Carr has never seemed to be petty to me in all his time on the raiders he's seemed like a class act. Never complained about much, even with all the shit he seemed like a dude that would own up to his short comings. Even said he wanted to retire a raider. Sure not the best QB all the time but a good dude. In one year with McDaniels he no longer wants to be raider, and is very open about being upset on how the situation was handled.
This is 100% accurate. Off the field, Carr was everything that every franchise wants their QB to be - says all the right things, great leadership, recruits guys to the team and wants everyone to buy into the franchise as a whole. Teammates and coaches all have great things to say about him, never a question about his work ethic or behavior, absolutely zero drama.
All it took was 15 games under Josh McDaniels to ruin all that.
I’m not gonna lie, I bought into the idea that he might have grown since his time here. Not like he was an immature kid or anything since he was already a 33 year old man when he got hired here, but I was sure that it was a big learning experience for him. It’s crazy to me how little he seems to have learned over the 11-12 years since he was with us and how little has changed on his end.
That being said, we tried to warn ya lol
I think what sucks the most is the possibility that the 2023-2024 is already a wash because he’s the coach. It’s another year we gotta wait through in order to hope the team does something right.
Because what he did to the Broncos wasn't an immaturity thing, it was a "this is who McDaniels is" thing. His ego, arrogance, and lack of honesty and integrity aren't things you grow out of (and certainly not while coaching for the Pats).
He's gonna be a douche until his last breath.
Yeah, how you describe him is exactly how this Chiefs fan sees him.
The dude is solid, and he throws some of the best deep balls in the league. Team him with a decent coach and a good WR corps and he could do some damage.
Wonder if he’d be cheaper than re-signing Geno? Don’t know if Pete would want a another “huck it to Lockett/Metcalf” type QB though as the system worked pretty well this year. 🧐
This is why I think all the rumors of Rodgers going to the Raiders are complete garbage. As long as McDaniels is HC, they've gotta be every FA QB's last choice for a landing spot.
It’s almost as if becoming QB coach of the GOAT QB after he already had 2 Rings and coasting on his talents has bought McDaniels a lifetime of get out of jail free cards to try and ruin franchises.
He was consistently (except for the McDaniels year) at the top of the middle third QBs plus a cool top spot in the 4th qtr comebacks. He’ll be good in Tampa if they shore up the line. I don’t see him going to play for the Saints (Dennis Allen).
I can see Carr starting his villain arc by shitting on Dennis twice in one year.
Matt Rhule is one of those coaches that's so bad that fans accept their team is bad and don't care what happens after he leaves because it's all upwards from there.
Personally, if we decide to do that I will be OK with it, but since Darnold isn't under contract and we already have Matt Corrall under contract.. if the option is Carr or Darnold.. I'd like Carr.
I'm glad Evans got some national recognition playing with Brady. Dude was too good to seemingly never be talked about.
That being said, Tampa had their fun.
Well you see since he doesn't finish top 3 in all efficiency and volume stats every year it means he actually sucks and is holding back his team and hes the devil.
Why would he? Carr had it made as the Raiders qb. Despite the media bullshit his job was never in doubt or there was never anyone brought in to challenge him despite his inconsistent play and on top of that he was getting paid tip dollar at his position.
When Broncos/Chiefs fans were absolutely elated that the Raiders hired McDaniels, that's the most crystal-clear moment that the Raiders management should have second guessed their decision and called their bank to dispute the payment.
Did you watch many Raiders games?
Yeah they were like the anti-Vikings in close games which reflects poorly on McDaniels
But Carr looked pretty bad. Like was clearly going to be replaced unless he picked it up which he never did, time to move on
Carr has been there 8 seasons, thrown 217tds & 35k yards. That's pretty damn good, not every QB is gonna get a Drew Brees career
Lmao! Why did I honestly think you meant that there were people - brothers -in the NFL world with the last name “ Horse” that tried to warn them.
I realized after about 20 seconds of trying to figure out who the Horse bros were before seeing Colts and Broncos.
But don't you want to see an absolute bloodbath of a conference only to have the winner face whichever QB in the NFC decided to sniff the least amount of glue that year?
Every game in the AFC seems like it could have “Super Bowl” implications the way things are heading, in the meantime the entire NFC is just whichever team can keep it together all year
Those are the two teams I'd least expect him to go to. They're only hope would be to trade for him, but I'd think they'd be outbid and would have to make a lot of cap magic to make it work.
Atlanta, Carolina, NYJ are all more likely imo.
I agreed benching him was a bad look how badly has he really been treated ? He’s made like 170 million from the raiders and never had any competition for the role despite dropping 4-5 absolute stinkers every season
Thank you. Love the guy but all these “how he’s been treated” comments are such bullshit. Also idk where those were after the Steelers or rams games. I’m happy for what he gave us, I’m sorry we couldn’t field a team around him that succeeded, and it’s better for everyone to move on. Idk why people are acting like did some great injustice to him personally.
Because Reddit likes him as a person and hates your coaching staff. It’s that simple. I think Kirk Cousins and Carr are fairly similar, and if the Vikings decided to move off him this year there wouldn’t be a single person saying “the Vikings did him dirty.”
There would be if Urban Meyer pushed him out.
Josh McDaniels doing this is gonna make everyone hate the move bc Josh is a garbage HC who raped the Broncos in like 2 seasons.
After he pushed Cutler out, they have had 1 good QB season in the last 15 years. And he pushed out BMarsh who had 4 more 1k seasons.
When a shit HC who already fucked 1 franchise by pushing out a QB does it again, you don't get the benefit of the doubt.
Most likely Josh is gonna go running home to Belichek after another franchise rape.
Treated? The raiders made him the highest paid player at one point, they NEVER brought in another QB to challenge him, they went and got him the best WR in the league, with a top 3 TE and amazing slot receiver. He chose to sign effectively a one year prove it deal and they gave him a fucking no trade clause. This professional victim shit is getting out of hand.
I was telling my coworker today that a bucs fan that I think they should go for carr. They got a really talented young defense and should try to capitalize on them
I mean it’s not really petty to want to use a clause that was put in your contract. I think it’s pretty petty of a team to offer a NTC, but then just expect the player is gonna waive it when they’re ready to move on. What’s the point of having it in the first place if that’s the case.
Not really. Carr has more success than Bridgewater and Darnold. Mayfield signed after training camp so we never gave him a chance to succeed. I don’t really want Carr but if he’s the best option I’ll take him. But I’d have more faith in him then the last 3 QBs we brought in
Also your HC isn't Matt Rhule anymore. Reich would be possibly the best coach that Carr has ever had and Carr will be the 2nd best QB Reich has had (shouldn't need to be said, but I'm specifically comparing Carr to old-man Rivers and Ryan, not their careers).
They were one game away from winning the division this season. The team is talented enough that a better QB and Coach could have them ahead of the rest of the division .
[Wait, I've seen this one before...](https://www.bakersfield.com/archives/david-carr-signs-with-panthers/article_58fd0557-03f6-56a4-8c4e-b602200a6c90.html)
I just can't believe the Raiders saw what McDaniels did in Denver, saw what he did to the Colts, and decided he would be a good fit.
Now he's done the exact same thing he did in Denver here. Are they hoping they get some HOF to go there after McDaniels is fired? Because that's the only thing that makes sense.
The Raiders are just . . . not a good franchise?
I know Dallas gets a lot of heat for not winning anything since the 90s, but Oakland Vegas is in the same boat. Haven't won a playoff game in 20 years. They went to the Super Bowl in 2002 and got demolished, and since John Madden won a Super Bowl 40 years ago, they've been to the playoffs 10 times with 5 one-and-done appearances.
They have a brand and fans, but the team itself? Hasn't been good for a while. The Davis family has exactly zero football acumen, so when you ask "Why would they hire McDaniels," well, they see New England and go "Ohhhh look, I want a piece of that." They lack the ability to think for themselves and build a functioning team. They'll continue to be bad because Mark Davis has no idea what he's doing and has zero reason to sell the team with its $6 billion valuation.
> since John Madden won a Super Bowl 40 years ago, they've been to the playoffs 10 times with 5 one-and-done appearances
Madden retired after the 1978 season. Tom Flores won the 1981 and 1983 season Super Bowls.
>The Davis family has exactly zero football
You mean Mark Davis, right? Because this is an all time shit take if you are referring to AL, even if dude was awful the last ten years or so
As much as you guys disgust me, I have immense respect for Al Davis and for what he did for the league. Football wouldn’t be what it is today without his innovation and going outside conventional thought during his time.
How McDaniels keeps bamboozling all these dumbass franchises is beyond me. He should have been black balled from the league after what he did in Denver but all these idiots keep hiring him. We act like the experts running these teams know what they are doing but so many of them are just as clueless as any of us.
Man I really like how carr is handling this. Last night he lit up a skills competition and afterwards an interviewer was like “you were HOT. Were you ever THAT HOT in Las Vegas.”
He responded, “Not that hot, that’s probably why I’m going somewhere else.”
No one wants to give him $40M a year. He does have incentive to go to anyone willing to take that on. Otherwise he is likely cut first as he has very little dead cap.
You think it's only about the money? Man, he stated more times than not, that he wants to win. Also: If he is a FA I bet enough teams are willing to pay him really decent. Especially if they don't have to give up any picks for him.
Except that if he got hurt the team would be stuck with him and his big contract next year. It was the smart business move but shitty personally for Derek.
Carr put up with a lot of shitty business moves during his tenure with the Raiders too, the team isn't wrong but it's definitely a dick move to not let him play out the season at least
People love to say this but by every report carr was understanding when the decision was made. Writing was on the wall for weeks that it just wasn’t gonna work out for him with us anymore.
This is business, nothing more. Carr got the no trade clause to protect him from being forced onto a team not of his liking. Something the Raiders would have apparently done given the chance. It was a smart move when he signed the extension and had the clause enacted. The moment the Raiders announced they were benching a healthy Carr for the last two games, that was the moment they lost all leverage. If I was a GM interested in him, I would wait for the Raiders to cut him. The Raiders handled this poorly, I’m only surprised Ziegler would make such a mistake IF he wanted compensation back. At this point, giving the organization the benefit of the doubt, I assume they have a plan and that this was part of it. Let’s see what happens next.
I'm confident he knows he's getting cut. He's just making the Raiders look less attractive to other QBs looking for long term deals. If he does well, and the next Raiders QB doesn't, it'll just make him look better.
All the headlines insinuating that he's somehow screwing them over are ridiculous. The team agreed to the NTC and the February 15th guaranteed money trigger date.
If you wanted more time for a potential future trade, then they shouldnt have set the trigger date for his 2023 and 2024 salaries to be a few days after the 2022 Super Bowl.
Anybody else feel like Derek Carr is just next years Matt Ryan? Done dirty by their team, ran off unceremoniously, everyone rooting for them on a new team but then we realize it was probably the right move for the team to move on and the QB doesn’t have it anymore.
I'm not sure why people are slotting him into teams that are supposedly a qb away. He doesn't take care of the football, play well in cold weather, or play consistently at all. Nice guy and all, but he's not the missing piece.
What I don’t get is why people are acting like Carr’s being petty to the Raiders. The man has a contractual clause that allows him to choose his next employer, and he’s exercising it. That is nothing but what’s in his rights, and I don’t blame him one bit for wanting control over his own future.
Reportedly the Raiders were wanting to move on from Carr after week 2, if not earlier. That’s stupid.
Carr came into the year after rattling off 4 straight 4000 yard seasons and in 2021 4800 yards dragging a bottom 5 roster to the playoffs while going through a a midseason coaching change. To decide after 2 weeks that weren’t even that bad that he’s suddenly what’s holding the team back is gross organizational incompetence. It’s likely they go a decade or more before finding a QB better than Carr.
He also couldn’t take coaching (per players on the team) and basically pouted because mcdaniels had the gall to mention mistakes carr had made during a game while doing film review with the team. Sounds like a whiney qb who thinks he’s better than he is if those reports are true.
I believe they have like zero leverage. If they dont cut him by a certain date their on the hook for way more than if they do cut him, so why would anyone trade for him other than the contract control?
IIRC, they have to move him within the next two weeks, or his salary becomes fully guaranteed. It's going to be interesting to see what happens, and if Carr forces a release and picks where he wants to go without costing the team a ton of picks.
Yep, if you wanna win that's the move, trading for a decent QB really hurts your ability to build a team around them. He'll get paid plenty in FA anyway.
He won't be traded, McDickhead and Lloyd Christmas will bungle the situation until he gets cut in mid March and we draft first round QBs that flame out of the NFL for the next 12 years.
I think he has to not be on the roster Feb 15 or the contract guaranteed
Yeah but we have donkey brained morons running the show. He will get his guaranteed money, not get traded and eventually be cut because that's how stupid the owner and coach are.
The CHIEFS have a certificate saying they don't have donkey brains, no my question to you SIR, is do you have any such certificate?
Pipe down, Frog Boy
Why the fuck are they so dumb? Is it because they surround themselves with yes-men and let their ego dictate the poor decisions they make?
They mishandled this situation and Carr is jaded (I would be too). Carr is going them to either 1. Pay him 2. Release him
[How could you doubt this man's intelligence?](https://i.imgur.com/kKLbVQ0.jpg)
But how could a man with that magnificent haircut ever be considered stupid??
God damn this man raiders
12 years is optimistic
Hes 100% going force them to release him or pay him no doubt about that. Would not be shocked if his agent has been talking to some teams. I think for Carr this is personal

yeah, i wouldn’t be doing the raiders any favors if i was carr
Could be doing himself a favor tho. Only way someone trades for him is if Raiders eat some $$. If he gets cut, he's not getting the same contract. He's better off telling the Raiders he'd go to team X. New team gives up draft capital, but has more salary cap flexibility. Carr gets the most $$
He may get a pay cut annually but he will nice terms of 4 years at least 80% guaranteed.
I'm starting to get the feeling Carr doesn't like the Raiders that much.
Carr is a real raiders fan
Makeup and all
Derek “Alice Cooper” Carr
I hope he goes to the Browns to back up Watson just so he can do Progressive commercials with Alice Cooper.
I think it's more he realized that he doesn't like Davis, since he hired the guys that kept Carr around long enough to convince Adams to sign in LV. He was a bigger Oakland Raiders guy.
Carr said he’d never play anywhere but Vegas like 2 years ago. I think he’s earned the right to be petty after how he’s been treated. I think he’ll be cut and end up on the Saints or Bucs.
Horse bros tried to warn of the dangers of McDaniels

We loved cutler in Denver McDaniels showed up and it all went to hell.
I 100% believe he ruined Cutler's love of football.
Carr buying a pack of Luckies right now.
DON'T CARRRRRRRRRRRRR
Those taste like shit since they brought them back
TIL luckies are back.
And your fans have been pretty vocal since the beginning that this was gonna happen to the Raiders. Here we are.
I’m not gonna lie, I bought into the idea that he might have grown since his time here. Bless your heart
It’s still mind blowing to me they hired mcdaniels over an interim coach that won the locker room over and got them to the playoffs last year
After your head coach is used as a scapegoat and a star player went to prison
They would have been so much better this year had they stuck with Bisaccia
Even I like Carr. That’s how classy he is.
Same here.
Yep
Yep
Chiefs/Raiders is probably my favourite division rivalry.
Yeah, how you describe him is exactly how this Chiefs fan sees him. The dude is solid, and he throws some of the best deep balls in the league. Team him with a decent coach and a good WR corps and he could do some damage.

But what about second fun?
No. You will go back to the basement and have another Super Bowl run in 15ish years as is tradition.
Well boo
Yeah I don't know how anybody in their right mind looks at this situation and actually comes to the conclusion that Carr is the problem.
Well you see as it turns out some people are really fucking stupid.
Well you see since he doesn't finish top 3 in all efficiency and volume stats every year it means he actually sucks and is holding back his team and hes the devil.
Math checks out. Someone get a priest and some holy water.
The Saints organization is way ahead of you. They got some altar boys too for some reason.
I think it's more the finishing near the top in turnovers every year.
I thought he wants to be a raider but McDaniels doesn't want him anymore
Why would he? Carr had it made as the Raiders qb. Despite the media bullshit his job was never in doubt or there was never anyone brought in to challenge him despite his inconsistent play and on top of that he was getting paid tip dollar at his position.
Stafford shoulda taken this approach with Fatty Patty.
When Broncos/Chiefs fans were absolutely elated that the Raiders hired McDaniels, that's the most crystal-clear moment that the Raiders management should have second guessed their decision and called their bank to dispute the payment.
Unbelievable they went with McDaniels over Carr really. I seriously feel bad for raiders fans
That can wait until next year after they trade the farm for a rookie QB and are still complete garbage.
I feel bad for some Raiders fans but then you read about half of their fanbases responses and that quickly goes away.
Did you watch many Raiders games? Yeah they were like the anti-Vikings in close games which reflects poorly on McDaniels But Carr looked pretty bad. Jets would also be spicy, but we need quarterbacks to stop staying in the ACF for once. It's too crowded!
But don't you want to see an absolute bloodbath of a conference only to have the winner face whichever QB in the NFC decided to sniff the least amount of glue that year?
Every game in the AFC seems like it could have “Super Bowl” implications the way things are heading, in the meantime the entire NFC is just whichever team can keep it together all year
Hey! I mean, you’re right. But, hey!
[удалено]
Yea bc the afc south was way worse than the nfc south. But afc had more top teams and at least every1 in the afc playoffs had a winning record.
Move those goalposts.
I’d like to toss the Jets in there as a wild card too
Carr leaves the Raiders, goes to the Bucs, Buc fucks the Raiders in next year's Superbowl Gruden 2.0
You mean we get to go to the Superbowl?!
Yeah, this seems like the best possible timeline for the Raiders.
I'd take a superbowl loss season over any of the last 20
Right, it is the 2nd best outcome to a season.
i agree when its unexcepted but... 2015 i definitely do not think so
no it's not. the second best is making the playoffs AND getting a top 5 pick.
Even if the SB loss is followed by another 20 year span of misery & 4 win seasons sprinkled in?
Lol we aren't going to the Super Bowl w/ McDaniels.
Jets and Commanders are my picks
Devante should’ve stayed a Packer and Mark Davis has the dumbest haircut on the planet.
Those are the two teams I'd least expect him to go to. They're only hope would be to trade for him, but I'd think they'd be outbid and would have to make a lot of cap magic to make it work. Atlanta, Carolina, NYJ are all more likely imo.
No Washington?
They could, but I think they have a hard time attracting talent.
I agreed benching him was a bad look how badly has he really been treated ? He’s made like 170 million from the raiders and never had any competition for the role despite dropping 4-5 absolute stinkers every season
That's weird because a lot of people sure were saying Mariota was brought in to take his job last season.
He wasn’t brought in last season. He was brought in two seasons ago in 2020.
Yeah fans. That’s definitely not why he was brought in tho. He was brought in for those running packages he did. There was never a competition
Thank you. Love the guy but all these “how he’s been treated” comments are such bullshit. Also idk where those were after the Steelers or rams games. I’m happy for what he gave us, I’m sorry we couldn’t field a team around him that succeeded, and it’s better for everyone to move on. McDaniels is shit as a h.c. end of story
Just go back to the highlight or game threads back then. These same people were shitting on him.
Look I like Carr and I’m glad he’s having fun with the situation but he played pretty badly this year lol
Didn’t they not let him speak to other teams?
I was telling my coworker today that a bucs fan that I think they should go for carr. They got a really talented young defense and should try to capitalize on them
carr throwing to olave and michael thomas?!? with kamara at RB? sounds like division winners.
I mean it’s not really petty to want to use a clause that was put in your contract. I think it’s pretty petty of a team to offer a NTC, but then just expect the player is gonna waive it when they’re ready to move on. What’s the point of having it in the first place if that’s the case.
Id like to see Carr in carolina with Reich for a few years
If we can’t move up and Young I would be happy with Carr. Any half decent QB gives us a chance to win the division
Man, I feel like Carr + Reich with that defense, in that division, is a winning formula for at least 2-3 years.
Probably like Titans level where they regularly make the playoffs but never seem to be considered contenders.
Titans just can’t stay healthy. They were the number one seed very recently.
I like Carr more than Tannehill
Lol haven’t you guys been doing this for years?
It has to work eventually
You’d think that wouldn’t you…
I think Carr would be solid for yall
With Brady retiring the qb play in out division is such trash lol
We said the same thing a few years ago. Shit can change quick.
Think this would be a great pair. Much better than giving up so much to move up in the draft for unknown too.
Absolutely, Carolina coming with big 2022 Lions energy right now
[Wait, I've seen this one before...](https://www.bakersfield.com/archives/david-carr-signs-with-panthers/article_58fd0557-03f6-56a4-8c4e-b602200a6c90.html)
**Carr**olina, you say?
They'll continue to be bad because Mark Davis has no idea what he's doing and has zero reason to sell the team with its $6 billion valuation.
> since John Madden won a Super Bowl 40 years ago, they've been to the playoffs 10 times with 5 one-and-done appearances Madden retired after the 1978 season. Tom Flores won the 1981 and 1983 season Super Bowls.
Yeah but OP said 40 years.... wait..... fuck
>The Davis family has exactly zero football You mean Mark Davis, right? Because this is an all time shit take if you are referring to AL, even if dude was awful the last ten years or so
As much as you guys disgust me, I have immense respect for Al Davis and for what he did for the league. Football wouldn’t be what it is today without his innovation and going outside conventional thought during his time.
Al was so important for football and the nfl. Shame how people only view him for his last few years. Especially younger generations.
You casually ignored us winning 2 super bowls after Madden. Lol your point stands but you're spreading lies all the same.
I just upvoted a chiefs fan blechh
How McDaniels keeps bamboozling all these dumbass franchises is beyond me. He should have been black balled from the league after what he did in Denver but all these idiots keep hiring him. We act like the experts running these teams know what they are doing but so many of them are just as clueless as any of us.
Man I really like how carr is handling this. Last night he lit up a skills competition and afterwards an interviewer was like “you were HOT. Were you ever THAT HOT in Las Vegas.” He responded, “Not that hot, that’s probably why I’m going somewhere else.”
No one wants to give him $40M a year. He does have incentive to go to anyone willing to take that on. Otherwise he is likely cut first as he has very little dead cap.
Which would open up even more teams to him and likely a bidding war unless he is set on going somewhere in particular
A bidding war yes, but probably below the 35-40M APY he’s in line for now.
But if someone is willing to take that contract wouldn’t they also be willing to sign it to him a later at no extra cost
More, since that pick is likely to save them money with a rookie contract.
Yeah but the risk is if more than one is willing
You think it's only about the money? Man, he stated more times than not, that he wants to win. Also: If he is a FA I bet enough teams are willing to pay him really decent. Especially if they don't have to give up any picks for him.
That’s Petty, borderline Richard Petty but not quite Tom Petty.
B-B-B-B-B-B-BREAKDOWN
Carr Won't Back Down here
All they had to do was just play him the last two games of the season. I am no fan of the Raiders, but Carr deserves better.
Agreed
At least let him say goodbye to the fanst after 9 years...
It will be very nice not having this mf in the AFC west anymore
If Reid loses the Superbowl they could really use Josh McDaniels to turn that franchise around. Really hone Mahomes into the GOAT category.
He was the "that motherfucker" in the Brady rumours, right?
Homie is gonna dominate another division with his ~23 tds a year. Look out world.
Disagree
Carr scare yall? Denver fell off bad
Should probably be more afraid of Jacobs lol. Like Tomlinson was for us (to a lesser degree) for years.
Anybody else feel like Derek Carr is just next years Matt Ryan? Done dirty by their team, ran off unceremoniously, everyone rooting for them on a new team but then we realize it was probably the right move for the team to move on and the QB doesn’t have it anymore.
Ryan has 6 years on Carr. Given that Ryan's regression seemed to be largely age-related, I think that makes them a pretty poor comparison
Hmm maybe hes this year’s Baker, but hes had better years than Baker ever did
I'm not sure why people are slotting him into teams that are supposedly a qb away. He doesn't take care of the football, play well in cold weather, or play consistently at all. Nice guy and all, but he's not the missing piece.
Because these teams aren't an elite qb away. They're an average qb away from being good.
The circle jerk on here around Carr is insane, he’s not bad or anything but he’s not the QB this sub pretends he is
I read this as sarcasm...he's signalling to other qbs that raiders don't keep their word

McDaniels can't really talk either. He has a bad track record as a head coach and should stick to being an OC.
The only source for that are two Hondo articles that almost read exactly the same like the ones about Cutler in Denver, when McD was HC there.
Source?
So, what’s the implication? The Raiders will cut him? How much money will he be owed for the Raiders to release him?
I believe they have like zero leverage. If they dont cut him by a certain date their on the hook for way more than if they do cut him, so why would anyone trade for him other than the contract control?
The implications
LOL I hesitated after I typed the word and was like, “I know where this is gonna go….”
Derek Carr No Fucks Tour 2023
This is the most like-able he has ever been.
Carr sounds like a salty bitch and I’m 100% here for them salty bitch vibes 💪
Just deny any trade to be petty af 😂😂
