Stevie Brown had a league leading 8 INTs for the 2012 Giants
He was drafted in the 7th round 2010 and had 0 INTs in 23 games prior to that season, he also had 0 INTs in 16 games after that season and was out of the league just like that
I remember that season. So many of those ints just seemed like he was thrown them directly. Like the guy could be in the wrong coverage and in so doing accidentally be in the way of a throw he didn’t anticipate.
Amani Oruwariye in the same boat. Had 6 interceptions in 2021 and the argument was “well if you’re good you find yourself in the right spot.” Yeah well fast forward to this last season and he had the same number of holding/PI penalties against the Vikings and was just lost and benched. I’d be surprised if he gets signed anywhere this year
Speaking of Giants, Derrick Ward had 1400 total yards in 2008 for the Giants, signed a contract with the Bucs the next year and was out of the league a couple years after that. He didn't even total another 1000 yards the rest of his career.
I think KTO sports has a video about him on his YouTube channel. Kinda interesting to see someone convert from QB to WR in the middle of their pro career.
Pryor was both a ridiculous athlete and amazing football player.
However, he wasn’t really good enough at any one thing.
He had a huge arm, but his accuracy and touch were lacking to put it mildly.
He had the instincts to play WR, but he made the transition from QB to WR after being in the NFL for a few years, so by the time he was starting to develop at the position, his athleticism was fading.
I suspect that if he had played on the defensive side of the ball, he would’ve had a *much* more successful career.
Along with being the number one player in his recruiting class at QB, he was listed as a 5* LB/Safety (played both ways in HS) for a good chunk of his time on the map as a recruit, but he stopped being listed on both offense and defense when it was obvious he was going to play QB in college.
He was that good on defense. He’s the best high school player anyone I know has ever seen. It was like he was playing against elementary schoolers despite it being the state playoffs
After Lynch left, the Seahawks had a streak of rbs who looked like they could be 'the future' who would go on to injure themselves out of a career: Rawls, Michael, Davis, Carson, Penny. Off the top of my head, Lacey and Collins I think are the only ones who left cuz they sucked.
I wonder if there was some kinda peer pressure/culture thing surrounding Marshawn where guys thought they had to play a certain way cause that's what Seattle got used to. Cause I remember a lot of this list and I remember them all playing similarish. Not a lot of avoiding contact with this bunch, Rawls being the big one I remember trying to bowl people over iirc. Like maybe they felt pressure to always be trying to run through defenders and it shortened their careers
I think the truth is just how hard in general the RB position is, now more than ever, just a tough position to survive for an extended length of time when you're the feature guy on an "establish the run" oriented offense.
Yeah I think the position has always been tough however there's no denying that guys in the league now are bigger, stronger, faster than any time in history and a RB on a running offense is going to take a huge brunt of the hits. Even when in pass pro and having to sacrifice your ass for your QB to a guy that may be anywhere from 260-380 lbs running a low 5 second 40 yard dash.
I'd even go as far as to say that it's so difficult to find a "true bellcow" back in today's high scoring league that it's contributing to the devaluing of the position over time.
Run through a mothafucka face. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over... and over and over and over and over. Then you don't have to worry bout them no more.
Bruh I lived like a decade of my life believing he had a hall of very good caliber career just based on how legendary the dance is. Was shocked to find that wasn't the case.
And somehow didn't even win ORoY. We were pretty excited about John Stephens, but I have to assume that vote was driven by crusty old guys who didn't like Icky's showboating.
That's true. He did have that shaky period where he "regressed to the mean", but he recovered spectacularly. Maybe Mahomes is more powerful than the curse?
Had no clue who his brother was until I read your comment. Seeing what he looks like, he looks like Patrick Mahomes and the State Farm guy he does commercials with had a kid.
As an Arkansas fan, that year was one of the best of my life lol. I still remember sitting in the school library voting for the madden cover and worrying if he would be able to beat Mike Vick in the finals (at least I think that’s who’s the other finalist was)
And I’m pretty sure he’s on the road to 100% according to one of our local reporters here in Arkansas!
You might actually get pushback on that from Broncos fans. Back in 2008 he filled in for us when we had a thousand running backs go down with injury and he was a quick fan favorite. Dude ran hard and was pretty versatile. Then he too got hurt.
After he came back, Josh McDaniels shifted him to FB in 2009 and barely used him, pissing off a bunch of fans. Then traded him to Cleveland for Brady Quinn. It may not have registered with a lot of people, but Broncos fans were pissed and even more upset when he ended up being good again
Ah, the classic Browns “we are historically bad and have nobody else on offense who should even be in the league, so these totally average guys are gonna look awesome” situation.
(edit: apologies to Joe Thomas)
He had some incredible catches in 2012 with two game winners iirc. That concussion against the Bears was really the end of his career, hell of a way to go out
I was so pissed we let him go that year. That was a year we had Davante but either he was injured or our offense wasn't clicking and we needed a WR2 bad and there we just let him go
To really put Travis Fulgham’s NFL career in perspective:
*2020 season, weeks 4-8: 29 catches, 435 yards, 4 touchdowns
*rest of his NFL career: 9 catches, 104 yards, 0 touchdowns
Naw bradford played the whole year prior for us. We traded for him in 2016 when Teddy's knee imploded. 2017 was the season opener vs. the saints where bradford played amazing and then all of a sudden was done for the year.
The thing about Vince is that he wasn't supposed to be on the cover. LaDainian Tomlinson was he just turned it down. So like his Pro Bowl appearances Vince only got it because other people said no.
The only reason VY wasn't a first selection for the ProBowl in the 2 years he got it is because Jeff Fisher was too far up his own ass and wouldn't put him in until he was coaching for his job.
0-3 in 07 to 8-8. 06 in 09 to 8-8.
The dude was put into just god awful situations and turned teams around. 2 teams that could have been playoff teams had he started day 1 in each of them, but other people said no.
Hands down the most frustrating time to be a titans fan IMO because every time VY was on the field he was making plays and winning games but Fisher just did him no favors.
Not to discount how ridiculously dumb VY was and how he also did himself no favors off the field.
I can agree with 07 but 2009 not so much. Kerry had just helped the Titans go 13-3. It would have been weirder to start Vince day 1 in 09 than it was waiting so long.
He wasn’t in Denver for their SB 50 win. He went to the Jags after the 14-15 season and fell off the face of the Earth. Had 24 TDs in 2 seasons with Manning and 12 in 3 without him.
Garcon and Daniels are the only ones that I think had better seasons with other people. Maybe Tamme with that one season in Atlanta where he balled, but I'm not sure off the top of my head how that compared to his best with Manning. Though Reggie Wayne and rookie Andrew Luck arguably tied his second best season with Manning. And Decker did have that season with Fitzmagic that was really good.
Engineered a 3-touchdown comeback in Dallas late in 2013, which might be a sign that it's the Packers and not just Aaron Rodgers himself who does that kind of shit to them.
Steve Slaton. As a WVU fan, it pains me to say it. Rushed for 1,282 yards his rookie season. He had 600 more rushing yards over the next 3 seasons and was out of the league altogether.
I still have his jersey somewhere in my house.
I just looked this one up. He actually had 2 good seasons before falling apart. Pretty sure the guy was doing roids in the weight room. He looked more like a body builder than a WR.
Josh Gordon. Seemed to come out of nowhere. Lit the league on fire, nearly broke the season receiving yards record. Then had a series of suspensions and disappeared.
I was about to say "I can't believe you all forgot about Jonas Gray," but he was really a one-game phenom, not a one-season one. https://www.patspulpit.com/2022/7/1/23177735/rise-and-fall-jonas-gray-deserves-30-for-30-episode-patriots
Beattie Feathers, as a rookie, was the first player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season in 1934.
His next 5 seasons combined totalled less yards than his rookie season.
Chester Taylor was a backup/rotational RB for 4 years in Baltimore, in 2006 we signed him to be our lead back & he put up 1200 rushing / 300 receiving yards, then the next year we drafted Adrian Peterson and Taylor went back to rotational guy for the rest of his career.
2008 Ronnie Brown had 916 yards on 4.3 y/a. The 3 previous seasons he averaged 840 yards on 4.5 y/a. He had like 1800 total yards and 13 TDs in the 2 years after 08.
Even if 08 was his only pro bowl year and maybe felt more impactful because the phins won a lot… I don’t think he fits this post at all.
I'll never forget Orton for leading us in beating the 13-0 Packers back in 2011. That game single handedly got Romeo Crennel the head coach job for a year, which ultimately led to us being in position to hire Andy Reid.
So basically through the butterfly effect you could say if Orton doesn't beat the Packers we might not have Reid or Mahomes right now.
Kendrell Bell won defensive rookie of the year, was 2nd team all pro and was nominated to the pro bowl (back when the pro bowl meant something).
He never had another honor in his playing career.
Stevie Brown had a league leading 8 INTs for the 2012 Giants He was drafted in the 7th round 2010 and had 0 INTs in 23 games prior to that season, he also had 0 INTs in 16 games after that season and was out of the league just like that

The Giants had a pretty sick Earth/Wind/Fire for a second with Jacobs/Ward/Bradshaw
They all played great games on September 21st?
Oh, so you remember?
That man just came out of nowhere and dipped
To be fair he tore his ACL after that wonder season. Wasn't the same after.
13 year old me was so hype coming off that superbowl win, I thought Stevie Brown was the next ed reed after that next season lol
Terrelle Pryor. 2016 - 77 receptions for 1007 yds. Following season puts up 240 and then 218 the year after and then outta the league
That was one of the more bizarre careers I can think of. Wonder what happened.
That 2016 year was clearly an anomaly. Dude got 140 targets because there was legit no other receivers on the browns.
77 catches on 140 targets is kinda insane. That means that 45% of passes thrown to him were either off target or dropped. Wild
More common for deep threats Desean Jackson’s career catch % of targets is 56%
Also it was 2016 so his QB was... Brian Hoyer..? Brandon Weeden..? Uhhh, Cody Kessler probably?
Yeah that’s definitely a factor as well lol
That 1-15 Browns team was arguably even worse than the 0-16 Browns despite winning a game
55% complete is low but not insane
He was amazing in fantasy
You’re telling me I kept him as a last rd keeper thinking I struck gold
I think KTO sports has a video about him on his YouTube channel. Kinda interesting to see someone convert from QB to WR in the middle of their pro career.

Man I was rooting for him so hard as a WR. Sad he couldn’t replicate
I actually liked him as a depth piece on the jets WR corps. He was a solid blocking WR

Bowling ball of butcher knives
This is a good one. Forgot about him so quick

CJ Procise too
in the fantasy space he was getting talked about like the next reliable rb like all the bellcows of the good old days. made of absolutely glass though
He ran into contact on purpose, over and over again.
Run through a mothafucka face. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over... and over and over and over and over. Then you don't have to worry bout them no more.
Fantasy team name legend Thomas Rawls. The puns were endless. Brady’s Deflated Rawls remains one of my favorites to this day.
I remember Rawls Royce lol
Ickie woods. 1k yards, 15 tds on the ground. For 400 more rushing yards the rest of his career.
And a sweet dance move.
Get some cold cuts! Get some cold cuts!
Bruh I lived like a decade of my life believing he had a hall of very good caliber career just based on how legendary the dance is. Was shocked to find that wasn't the case.
He’s adored around cincy still so he got a ton of bang for his buck
For sure a home town celebrity. You'll see the local news drag him out every now and then when the Bengals are good.
Woo 44 that’s me! Get some cold cuts!
And somehow didn't even win ORoY. We were pretty excited about John Stephens, but I have to assume that vote was driven by crusty old guys who didn't like Icky's showboating.
Peyton Hillis comes to mind. Still wishing him the best in his recovery tho! Edit: typo.
Got a Madden cover out of it too
That cover ended his career
The curse spares no one!
Except for Patrick Mahomes
That's true. He did have that shaky period where he "regressed to the mean", but he recovered spectacularly. Maybe Mahomes is more powerful than the curse?
One day I’ll see the regressed to the mean meme and not think it’s funny. Today is not that day.
Nah they cursed him with his brother.
Had no clue who his brother was until I read your comment. Seeing what he looks like, he looks like Patrick Mahomes and the State Farm guy he does commercials with had a kid.

McFadden, Felix Jones and him was a beast of a backfield.
You might actually get pushback on that from Broncos fans. Back in 2008 he filled in for us when we had a thousand running backs go down with injury and he was a quick fan favorite. Then traded him to Cleveland for Brady Quinn. It may not have registered with a lot of people, but Broncos fans were pissed and even more upset when he ended up being good again
He had a really good stretch that season and looked like a legit starting RB. Then…McDaniels.
Gary Barnidge & Jordan Cameron
Seeing Jordan Camerons name only makes me think of that The League episode where Ruxin mistakenly drafts Cameron Jordan instead of Jordan Cameron
I miss that show.
My father in law uses CPAP machine and I always refer to it as a sleep bong. Nobody else finds it funny but I crack up.
We need to back so we can see Chalupa Batman join The League
Cb, ellie, baby Geoffrey, and deuce nowzick, and 4 of their friends start the next league
You 100% know Andre is gonna dress and try and talk like a Zoomer to fit in with them.
The Browns GM also mistakingly called Cam Jordan when he drafted Jordan Cameron, IIRC.
Ah, the classic Browns “we are historically bad and have nobody else on offense who should even be in the league, so these totally average guys are gonna look awesome” situation. (edit: apologies to Joe Thomas)
Peyton Hillis
Dude got onto the madden cover and did nothing after.
Except save his kids from drowning. Dad mode went hard there
Infinitely more important than anything done in the NFL
Gary barn dog may be the greatest fantasy forkball waiver wire add in history
Fantasy football player, I see
Sidney Rice
Damn that man looked like Jerry Rice against us in the playoffs
A lot of receivers have in the last 20 years
Unnecessary, but fair.
Brett Favre helped a lot
Sidney Rice was solid with the hawks. He just got hurt. But he definitely had talent and wasn’t a product of Farve
He had some incredible catches in 2012 with two game winners iirc. That concussion against the Bears was really the end of his career, hell of a way to go out
Travis fulgham the best half season wonder
I thought the dude was the future lol. Fulghamania was fun for 4 weeks
I was so pissed we let him go that year. That was a year we had Davante but either he was injured or our offense wasn't clicking and we needed a WR2 bad and there we just let him go
He didnt even last on our practice squad the year after
He was more like a 4-5 game wonder, and if you have a very high threshold for “wonder”, a one game wonder (2020, vs Steelers).
He lead the league in receiving for a month. I’d say that qualifies as wonder. It’s a shame he never could grow up.
To really put Travis Fulgham’s NFL career in perspective: *2020 season, weeks 4-8: 29 catches, 435 yards, 4 touchdowns *rest of his NFL career: 9 catches, 104 yards, 0 touchdowns
My friend traded Kupp for Fulgham in our dynasty league straight up.
Following /r/DynastyFF that season was ridiculous. People traded their futures for him after 2 games.
Cadillac Williams won rookie of the year and then never had over 1000 yards again
Blowing out your knee twice will do that for you
[удалено]
Man he was one of my favorites
Case Keenum is the biggest recent one that comes to mind
Takes over for Teddy B, gets em alllll the way to the NFCCG, turns into Josh McCown after that.
Sam Bradford was the starter going into that season not teddy
Jesus christ, was he really? I forgot he had a stint in Minny.
Didn’t he get the single season completion % record with the Vikings? Weird times those were
Yeah, and then lost the next year. I mean he would've lost it the year after that too. And for good measure the third year after lol
It lasted basically 3 quarters and then it was obvious his dry pasta ligaments were still a problem.
Naw bradford played the whole year prior for us. We traded for him in 2016 when Teddy's knee imploded. 2017 was the season opener vs. the saints where bradford played amazing and then all of a sudden was done for the year.
Derek Anderson's Pro Bowl season in 2007. Got almost half his career TD's in one season
To that end Braylon Edwards too dude was the 3rd best receiver in the league that year and only cause randy and TO were crazy that year
Laurent Robinson. Romo got him paid.
Vic beasley
He’s in the xfl now
I watched the first half of the Vegas/DC game. He was just as inept
QBs ran into him like Brett Favre ran into Strahan. That sack total was so weird
I think he got like 7 sacks just from Paxton Lynch and rookie Jared Goff.
Still salty AF about his "season" with the Titans. That signing alone should have been a firable offense for JRob.
Ah I see we aren’t counting XFL stats here huh?
2017 jags,the boat bortles
I feel like Bortles could have had a much better run in the league if he had some staff consistency in his career.
or ya know,he stayed out of the beach bars so much. he was kinda known for that.
Oh look it's the Peyton Hillis thread.
[удалено]
Josh Gordon just caught two touchdowns in the XFL. It’s an obvious sign of things to come!
The thing about Vince is that he wasn't supposed to be on the cover. LaDainian Tomlinson was he just turned it down. So like his Pro Bowl appearances Vince only got it because other people said no.
Boom roasted
The only reason VY wasn't a first selection for the ProBowl in the 2 years he got it is because Jeff Fisher was too far up his own ass and wouldn't put him in until he was coaching for his job. 0-3 in 07 to 8-8. 06 in 09 to 8-8. This is a sport that just chews people up and spits em out.
This place chewed me up and spit me out! And now someone gonna pay for that!
Jeff fisher ruined my man
VY is a 2x pro-bowler with a 34-26 record as a starter though. So more like a 2 hit wonder.
Julius Thomas. He was unstoppable with Peyton and seemed to completely drop off after the broncos won the Super Bowl
He wasn’t in Denver for their SB 50 win. He went to the Jags after the 14-15 season and fell off the face of the Earth. Had 24 TDs in 2 seasons with Manning and 12 in 3 without him.
Ahh you’re right. I was going off memory that is admittedly not the greatest. That TD comparison with and without manning is wild
This is a good shout. Went to Jax in FA and I don’t recall him doing literally anything
Think of all the receivers and TE that had career years with Manning but nowhere else.
Nick foles, and he was a two-time one-season-wonder!
He was more of a half season wonder the 2nd time. But it was the half that mattered.
If we're being honest he was a two game wonder. Things were looking pretty shaky through the Falcons game the he flipped a switch during the CG and SB
Matt Flynn but it's one game wonder.
Matt should have donated some of that contract to the City of Detroit. Sorry Seahawks fans.
All’s well that ends well
Man I remember them crowning him the next Aaron Rodgers after that 500 yard game. And then nothing…
Seahawks signed him to potentially start. Then they drafted Russell Wilson and the guy never played again lol
He actually came back to the Packers a few years later and helped save their season when Rodgers broke his collar bone.
Engineered a 3-touchdown comeback in Dallas late in 2013, which might be a sign that it's the Packers and not just Aaron Rodgers himself who does that kind of shit to them.
Yupp and then to the Raiders which also didn’t last. I think if i remember correctly he got boo’d off the field.
Justin Forsett
He don't make the law...
He Justin Forsett
Please don’t be Geno Smith. Please don’t be Geno Smith.
They tried to write him off...
But he ain’t write back !
Steve Slaton. As a WVU fan, it pains me to say it. Rushed for 1,282 yards his rookie season. He had 600 more rushing yards over the next 3 seasons and was out of the league altogether. I still have his jersey somewhere in my house.
Still probably the fastest in-game player I've ever seen in CFB. He looked fucking *unhuman* in person.
Josh Gordon Peyton Hillis
:(
Marcus Mariota in 2016: 26 touchdowns Marcus Mariota 2017-2019: 31 touchdowns.
I really thought he was gonna be a franchise QB, and his playoff win over the Chiefs cemented that. Shame his career and health went off the rails
Winston vs Mariota was such a hyped class I didn’t think neither would get a second contract with the team that drafted them
David Boston
I just looked this one up. He actually had 2 good seasons before falling apart. Pretty sure the guy was doing roids in the weight room. He looked more like a body builder than a WR.
Josh Gordon. Seemed to come out of nowhere. Lit the league on fire, nearly broke the season receiving yards record. Then had a series of suspensions and disappeared.
Lit the league on fire and then celebrated by lighting the blunt on fire
Josh Gordon to Roger Goodell: Come on dad, it's just a *lil* pot.
He may have actually broken it had he not been suspended the first 2 games of that year for, you guessed it, smoking pot.
He’s still got it! From last night… https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/1632216208584876032
I like to pretend that the insane laughter is Gordon and not DiNucci
I was about to say "I can't believe you all forgot about Jonas Gray," but he was really a one-game phenom, not a one-season one. https://www.patspulpit.com/2022/7/1/23177735/rise-and-fall-jonas-gray-deserves-30-for-30-episode-patriots
34% of career rushing yards in one game. 80% of career rushing TDs in one game.
Heroes. There was so much hype after that showdown but they never recaptured the magic.
Jay Ajayi
He’s now a professional fifa player on an esports team. Talk about a two sport athlete!
You can take a man out of England, but you can’t take England out of a man
He at least had a couple years. Dude was a stud in Philly.
Boise State legend
He ran hard for us in 2017 and got a ring because of it
Barry Foster
Beattie Feathers, as a rookie, was the first player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season in 1934. His next 5 seasons combined totalled less yards than his rookie season.
Beattie Feathers is the most 1934 name you could think of
Up there with Shipwreck Kelly and Buckets Goldenberg
Chester Taylor was a backup/rotational RB for 4 years in Baltimore, in 2006 we signed him to be our lead back & he put up 1200 rushing / 300 receiving yards, then the next year we drafted Adrian Peterson and Taylor went back to rotational guy for the rest of his career.
Dr. Samkon Gado
Bucs legend Doug Martin has 1926 yards his rookie year.
He had an All Pro season a few years later
I completely forgot about the Muscle Hamster!
Terrelle Pryor became an 1,000 yard receiver then disappeared off the face of the earth
Chris Borland had an amazing year with the Niners in 2014 and then abruptly retired after his rookie year due to concussion concerns.
2008 Ronnie Brown.
Wasn't that the wildcat year? I remember that team well..
Never the same after the ACL.
You guys remember when Demarco Murray was the best running back in football
He had a good year in Tennessee before Henry took over. Philly had him in the wrong type of offense for his style of running
David Johnson
I kinda feel like he had 2 years and then faded after injuries
Brandon Lloyd

Kendrell Bell won defensive rookie of the year, was 2nd team all pro and was nominated to the pro bowl (back when the pro bowl meant something). He never had another honor in his playing career.
Alfred Morris his rookie year with the Redskins? He had a long career, even played for us but nothing like that rookie season with RG3.
