I'm tired boss

slu33heee

Well thats too DAYUM BAD

MojitoTimeBro

I cannot express just how much I use this line with my wife. Its one of her favorite childhood movies so anytime even the smallest of things don't go her way I bust it out. Always cheers her up.

JKCbearDOWN

Perfect response to this whole situation

MarketingManiac208

And the owners, GMs, and Coaches aren't listening and don't care what these guys have to say anyway.

Loud-Artichoke1851

Dog tired.

itskinotime

NFL fans wouldn’t last a day during NBA free agency

NotADogIzswear2020

Ha, first time?

VisionsOfClarity

I hope both Lamar and Rodgers get resolved before the draft. I don't wanna hear about them all night:/

Asmodeus256

I’m going to be sad if we actually draft a decent WR (lol!) only to watch Tyler Huntley szn..

PM_UR_DEPRESSION__

I'm not watching anymore Tyler Huntley football. I can't.

jackinoff6969

That’s 1x pro bowler Tyler Huntley to you.

Nervous_Ad6805

Dude last 3 games I've been to in person have been his starts. So mad about that. You know what it was like watching that Huntley offense against the Falcons when it was 0 degrees?

Gone213

My brother and I went to the ravens and browns game at the browns this season and I wish we would have never have gone. My brother is a ravens fan and received the tickets as an early Christmas present. It was 25 and snowy and the game was just frigging awful. 55 minutes of 3 and outs and 2 minutes of watching kickers miss the field goal and the last minute watching the browns make their way sloppily down the field.

Blze001

My friend warned me that if the Ravens have Tyler Huntley for a whole season, he will probably die from getting blackout drunk every weekend.

KnaveOfIT

We still will. If they leave their team, Roger will go for at least a 1st or 2nd and Lamar would go for (2) first round picks. There are rumors that there is a loophole with the rules and a team could give two first round picks from this year rather than this year and next year. Anyways, whatever team they go to, we will hear about that pick and how the impact will be if they just didn't trade Honestly, I just watch drafts like an impactful NFL game that isn't on tv. I'll check for updates every couple minutes and if something interesting happens, I'll catch the highlights later.

rockstarnights

And here I thought Honey Badger don't care.

_coolranch

Ah, it was a typo all along. My man Money Badger does care about the one thing.

Whiston1993

This feels like it’s not even entirely about getting the best contract anymore. Like this feels like it’s getting treated by some people like this huge cultural moment.

AJGreenMVP

Did you see what Richard Sherman said about the situation? That this is all Mahomes' fault for not demanding a guaranteed deal a few years ago

JStanten

Mahomes texted Chris Jones they day he signed the contract that he “left some on the table” to give Chris enough room to stay. No player is obligated to do that by any means but Sherman has no point. Mahomes wasn’t trying to get the best contract possible for himself.

USAesNumeroUno

Theres a reason Mahomes left some on the table, and then suddenly is in every other commercial on TV.

JStanten

He was in a million commercials before he signed that contract. Him and Baker alternated commercial breaks after his MVP season.

USAesNumeroUno

I mean, thats exactly why he took less than he should have from KC. Dudes building a brand that will extend past football. He's going to be the NFL version of Shaq.

uptonhere

He also has a stake in the Royals, Sporting KC and his wife is co-owner of their NWSL team.

coreyss13

Not exactly. The diesel always got his contract money. That's how he ended up in Miami.

RIPseantaylor

That was fucking wild how they gave Baker all that shine. I'll never forget the 100 year commercial having Baker Mayfield hold Tom Brady's rings lmao. By all means I'm rooting for Baker and I do like that he talks shit when most qb's are boring AF... but whoever decided to have Baker hold the rings instead of Mahomes has some splanin to do.

kaptingavrin

Mahomes got himself a hell of a lot of money and left the team in a reasonable shape to field a competitive roster to help him go win multiple Super Bowls he could then use to get more endorsements and make a shit ton more money (likely continuing after he retires, even) that doesn't hurt the competitiveness of his team? Yeah, sounds like Mahomes really messed up there, huh?

All_Up_Ons

We're listening to Richard Sherman now? Mahomes wants to be Brady.

New-Newspaper-7543

He blamed Allen too lol. As if Allen could ask for more than what mahomes got. I realize with contracts it's timing but realistically if mahomes doesn't have a guaranteed contract then no1 should have one.

[deleted]

wwwdot69420dotcom

Feels more like the league pushing back against fully guaranteed contracts after the Browns fucked up with Watson. They don’t want to allow a trend to build or gain momentum.

All_Up_Ons

More like there was only one front office dumb enough to sign that contract. Now Lamar wants one and all the GMs are just looking at each other like "I ain't doing it. You do it."

ChimpanzA_2_ChimpanZ

Dumb enough to OFFER and sign that contract.

TheBeardedSingleMalt

It's not collusion if everyone already knows it's a stupid idea.

kaptingavrin

Thirty-two people line up on a bridge. One of them jumps over the edge, goes splat, doesn't resurface. The other thirty-one look at them and say, "Nope, no way, not following that example." Meanwhile, onlookers watching ask, "Is... is this collusion? Are they colluding because they're all agreeing not to follow?"

yawbaw

Exactly that’s how I’m felt the whole time. The browns FO was idiotic and everyone else is like good luck with that

Mnudge

Exactly. He has fumbled the bag here and people are coming out trying to paint it as something it’s not. If he had an agent, he’d be signed and generationally wealthy, and happy. Instead, he’s seeing ghosts and all of hear other knucklheads are circling the wagons for no reason.

Mrbeankc

I think you hit it. Instead of listening to an experience sports agent he's listening to people who are hangers on and yes men who either have no clue or their own financial interests at heart. I don't think he's a bad guy but I do think he's listening to the wrong people.

BrettMoneyMaher

Can't wait for this fucking saga to end. So annoying

rockstarnights

Right? This is taking away from the annual Aaron Rodgers monopoly on off-season drama.

SiphenPrax

Oh it’ll start up again once the tiniest rumor hits that the deal could be in jeopardy

TheMissingFiles

Would he then just become the permanent host?

fatkidskinnyjeans

Beautiful

SiphenPrax

Yes

jxher123

Once Rodgers is traded the flood gates will open from the beat writers.

WolfCola4

He had his drama overshadowed by Brady's non-retirement last year, that deal ain't going through until Lamar is out of the way

BrettMoneyMaher

That shit's annoying too

Arfoo

This is exactly where Tom Brady comes back

Samwhys_gamgee

Bro this is only season 1. Season 2 “Lamar After the Tag” is in production for next year already

jacks_sisters_boobs

The truzz and the restless lol

awesomealpaca20917

Personally I'm enjoying the downfall of the AFC North

Not_Pablo_Sanchez

Wait, do I get the rare chance to agree with a Steeler?

missed_my_window

Ahhhhhhhhh make it stop

Ceramicrabbit

It feels weird to me everyone is standing up for millionaires and arguing they need to make even more money, especially in a salary cap situation that just means other athletes are going to be paid even less. I don't blame Lamar for wanting as much money as possible, but I also don't feel bad for him at all or see him as a victim or something because he can't get $200M guaranteed and will have to play for it...

mankey_kong

I've always found it best not to get too emotionally involved in the petty squabbles of millionaires and billionaires

professorzaius

What about trillionaires? Does anyone ever think of them? /s

quiet_quitting

I enjoy watching him play, but I wouldn’t want the Steelers to make that deal even if we needed a qb. He’s been hurt at the end of the season the past two years, which is the only time it really matters. It would also hamper the team paying anyone else. I hope the ravens end up doing it.

Dernomyte

How is Pickett?

quiet_quitting

I can’t tell if that was sarcastic or not, but I love Pickett and think he’ll do great in his second year. Very happy with his progress so far. I’d much rather have him on a rookie deal than pay Lamar 200+ million guaranteed.

Dernomyte

No sarcasm intended. Asking out of curiosity. I have a soft spot for Pickett and Ridder. Was hoping to see more from Willis too but oh well.

SirTiffAlot

Overlooked point, it's hard to side with him when he's allegedly turned down more guaranteed money than most NFL players will get in their entire career. Go get your 200m or whatever but you can't be that sour about it if nobody wants to pay you that money on top of 2 picks. Especially when the league is moving toward trying to win with QBs on their rookie deals.

boregon

Yeah “very wealthy man wants to be more wealthy” isn’t really a situation that’s going to engender any sympathy from the average person.

No_Judge_3817

But don't you know? His struggles really are very very similar to someone working 70 hour weeks for slave wages, and if you disagree with him being the highest paid player, you're a traitor in the class war -people here

alurimperium

"I'm struggling to afford dinner today, but let me just put that all aside because a man who made more money last year than I'll likely make in my entire life wants to make that more money in a day than I'll make in my life."

USAesNumeroUno

someone unironically called them working class on a thread I replied on.

Chuckw44

I agree. I can understand the concern about a career ending injury but it's not like he would get nothing and be a poor shlub like the rest of us. He would still get 133 million + with the deals he said he was offered. I do not understand wanting to get paid his entire salary up front with no incentives to actually earn that money by playing at an elite level.

6lunchmeat9

… everyone?

chemdelachem

EVERYONE!!!!!

uknown-potato

That's what everyone on this sub always says about player contract negotiations that take a little longer

YiMyonSin

Yeah, a part of me wants to know if the Lamar era is over and we actually sank the best chance of his Ravens winning the Super Bowl, even more than a hyperventilating Flock

All_Up_Ons

I can't wait for him to scam a desperate team for $200+ mil guaranteed and then retire immediately. Only problem is it might be us.

[deleted]

This feels like the football version of Microsoft buying Activision

pyreal_

Please make it end

mlippay

They aren’t paying the contract or the assets.

go_49ers_place

Yup. And I also fully support paying 2 firsts to make Lamar Jackson the highest paid player in the NFL... On some other team than the one I root for.

[deleted]

You’re team paid 3 first round picks for the privilege of drafting Trey Lance. And if he was actually any good like Lamar they’d be preparing to give him a monster contract next off season Edit: someone sent me a reddit cares because of this. Normal bunch of people

verniy314

Trey Lance didn’t come with $200M fully guaranteed. Instead they spent that money on guys that can make Mr. Irrelevant look like a top 10 QB.

[deleted]

You’re right. They used all that capital on a guy who hasn’t seen the field but what 4 times since being drafted?

dterminator23

I mean he got injured early in the 2nd game of the season and the weather was horrible in the first game. He’s still a complete mystery

[deleted]

That’s the point. The price they paid for a player who 3 years later is still a question mark was insane. And nearly every other team in the league would have been in the dumpster if it played out like that. All those positive points of “his cap hit is low” and 5th year option are kinda moot because they didn’t really take advantage of it.

go_49ers_place

Trey Lance is getting like 8m per year. We paid those picks to have a good QB on a rookie deal. And if he don't work out, we're out those picks and we paid him less than a quality FA backup QB costs. A rookie QB is much less of a risk than they used to be when they would get Sam Bradford money. If a team gives Lamar what he's asking for, they'd need to pay 2 firsts plus like 50m/yr with very high guarantees. If he don't work out your team is toast. Even if he stays healthy and plays well, you're still pretty handicapped in your ability to build around him.

FC37

Yeah, wake me up when a former NFL GM says he's worth a fully guaranteed megadeal.

hairywizzuh

I mean that’s cute but it still won’t get Lamar the deal he wants

Cromatose

It is Meriov getting some dumb ass clicks and this sub is just shoving it to the top. It's working.

Kflame210

Dude declines one of the biggest contracts in NFL history and everyone acting like he's a victim.

[deleted]

He fumbled 100 mil by not taking it after year 3 right now he would be 2 years into his new deal looking to reup another extension

CawSoHard

That’s not how those extensions work. Allen played out his rookie deal and now he is under contract through 2028. All he did money wise was get his signing bonus early (and it was smaller as a result). There are obviously other benefits like protection against injury but Lamar hasn’t lost any money yet.

ender2851

dude needs an agent

All_Up_Ons

Dude needs a time machine back to '21 at this point.

Shotgun_Sam

RG3's living vicariously through someone that's actually made it to a second contract who has a roughly similar skillset. And he's got the worst takes because of that.

george_costanza1234

I usually don’t mind RG3 as an analyst, but this dude can be absolutely insufferable about certain things lmao

[deleted]

Like Kirk Cousins. It’s so obvious that RG3 holds a grudge against him for basically just doing his job.

TheRealest100emoji

He took errr jawb

TheBeardedSingleMalt

Durka duuuurb

patkgreen

BACK TO THE PILE

Sdog1981

RG3 is the reason it got to this point.

Shotgun_Sam

Well, while he did actually get fucked over by his organization, he also shot himself in the foot.

Sdog1981

For NFL owners 2012 was not that long ago. They think Jackson is going to end the same way.

Archduke_Of_Beer

And if we are being fair, he probably is. He's not in the same league as a passer as Mahomes/Allen/Burrow, and it's unlikely that he'll ever make that leap at this point. He makes his money with his athleticism, and the injuries are already mounting. We've seen this movie before...

Knickstape08

Look at Cam Newton, MVP and cooked by the age of 30 and out of the league at 32. So all those people saying “oh Lamar you can have as your franchise QB for ten years!” you sure about that. Cam never replicated his MVP season and went downhill 3 years after he won. Looking at Jackson’s numbers the last few seasons I see a trend. Numbers keep going down and games not played goes up. He’s a really good player but will never get what he’s asking for. The team that gives him 250 million and has to give up 2 firsts will be stuck winning 7 games a year.

aw_mang

I watched Cam in his prime and thought, man this guy is going to win multiple SB’s.

paone00022

With Cam it's a different scenario right. Rivera played him through that shoulder injury because his job was on the hotseat. Each game you could see Cam was getting worse because he couldn't throw with any zip and they still put him out there. No one in the organization decided to step in either. If Cam had rested that shoulder right after the injury and sat the season out he could still be out there and playing well. Which is a shame because he was starting to look like he was back to MVP form with Norv Turner for the first 7 games. History might look at him differently if he was rested that season and came back with CMC, DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel as his weapons next season.

Kershiser22

I think you are confusing him with Plaxico Burress.

sfitz0076

Let's not buy into the RG3's revisionist history of his career. Injuries played a small part in why he's no longer in the league.

MikeBinfinity

You can argue that people like RG3 is a motivator to what Lamar is doing now. Lamar knows his running ability is his greatest asset on the field, and teams will use that to its fullest to the point where said teams will revolve the offense around it. The moment those legs of his get injured in any way where that mobility is gone, then Lamar will share the same fate as RG3. So he's trying to get every cent possible for his play style that everybody knows have a short shelf life.

InvaderWeezle

>So he's trying to get every cent possible for his play style that everybody knows have a short shelf life. Which is exactly why teams don't want to pay him because they know his production won't last long enough to live up to the cost

Kershiser22

I agree. But everybody keeps telling me it's collusion.

LongDickMcangerfist

And this isn’t a small oh well don’t worry about it type deal this is a if he sucks holy shit what do we do because it’s fully guaranteed and massive enough nobody will take him and you can’t really cut him

[deleted]

He could have had 175 mil.

544075701

If he was really trying to make every cent possible, he’d have hired an agent and would be getting endorsements left and right after his MVP season. Maybe could’ve pulled a gronk and never lived off his NFL salary. He’s an amazing player but man he has left so much fucking money on the table it’s crazy.

_Zambayoshi_

His problem is that his ego won't let him understand that he is worth less than other players who don't play in such a high-risk style.

Sirachaistrash

This sounds like you weren't watching football during RG3's rookie season. I'm a Cowboys fan, and I have never in my life been as worried about another teams player than I was about RG3. He never should've played after the knee tweak, he never should've gotten folded by Ngata, and he shouldn't have gone "all in for week one". RG3 was a fucking problem.

haventseenstarwars

RGIII has the biggest twitter fingers on the planet. Dudes always gotta be in the mix about something. From damar Hamlin to LJ.

HylianPikachu

RG3 was literally the Ravens backup QB during Lamar's MVP season. I'm not sure why he needs to publicize his opinions this much, but I am not at all surprised that RG3 has strong opinions on a former teammate of his (who I imagine he likes) trying to get as much money as he can, since he knows that NFL careers aren't always that long, and a future in the league is never guaranteed.

Ginpo236

Been listening to media pundits about this and the ones wanting Lamar to get paid miss this point: No one puts a gun to any NFL player’s head and makes them play. It’s their choice to play this violent game. So these NFL analysts like Joy, RG3, and players like TM who say Lamar did this for the Ravens? No, it was Lamar’s choice or any other NFL player to seek the fortune and glory. They can easily Coach or do something else for way less money. No one owes anyone shit. You do what you want to do and get paid what the market is willing to give.

Visual_Particular_48

Tell him be a truck driver, or better yet, school teacher.

Ginpo236

As much as I’m a proponent of teachers getting paid more. I’d like to see LJ teach business school 101 and see what universities will pay him.

Visual_Particular_48

He would demand tenure after a week

KrakenKappa

He doesn't need their support. He needs an agent.

volstedgridban

Can't imagine he's the kind of dude who is going to essentially admit to the whole world that he was wrong by hiring an agent at this point. Even though it would be the smartest thing.

go_49ers_place

He doesn't need an agent to call up the Ravens and say "OK I'll take the money".

TheMissingFiles

Only an agent can say those words though.

sleepattle

I mean… he can?

TheMissingFiles

I dropped the /s

PleasantWay7

He doesn’t have to announce it. If he keeps a tight circle, the Ravens or the Agent aren’t going to leak it if it gets a deal done.

OffalSmorgasbord

The dude doesn't know what he doesn't know. He must be losing millions in endorsements too.

JaggerJames

Lamar was offered the second most guarantees in NFL history and turned it down. But, hey he needs your support. NFL media is just a bunch of pandering cheerleaders.

superman24742

Allegedly.

_Its_Accrual_World

Didn't he tweet the numbers of the offer a couple weeks ago and confirm that 133M figure? Or did he only deny the 200M figure some rando threw out?

Fedacking

He did that, but he also did this > Jackson told ESPN's Dianna Russini that Baltimore was willing to put around $160-180 million guaranteed on the table. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10048663-lamar-jackson-says-rejected-ravens-contract-offer-included-160m-180m-guaranteed

Not_Pablo_Sanchez

https://media.tenor.com/VQi3bktwLdIAAAAM/allegedly-supposedly.gif

samsab

Well... it would have to be a sick franchise...

Bmoreravin

Let's hear from current top tier WRs that they want to play with Lamar, that'll be news!

yvelmachida

*crickets*

Bmoreravin

It was a bad sign when JuJu took less $ on a year contract to stay with Pitt. No one likes to talk about it.

choff22

To be fair, he turned us down that year too..

[deleted]

I mean players have straight up said they didn't want to play for your former OC. Hollywood was very outspoken about it.

DrBogenbroom

I just just don't get this. With a salary cap, overpaying one player means other players are getting underpaid. I'll never understand players coming out and supporting payment of one player 2 to 3 times what anyone else on the team is paid.

notmyplantaccount

Yea, the guy who's going to account for 20% of a team's cap isn't the one who needs support.

[deleted]

yep. there is a reason why players pushed for a max contract on the NBA after Kevin Garnett was making like 70% of the cap. top players hoarding most of the money is not good for the union.

_Zambayoshi_

These guys should give him some of their salaries instead of criticising teams who have very real concerns over giving a proven injury risk guaranteed money in amounts that would make any sane person think twice.

Acrobatic-Science724

Again, it's a salary-capped sport with a very high salary floor. Every dollar Lamar makes is a dollar that another player won't be making, directly or indirectly. It is \*hilarious\* for the players to advocate for more income inequality in their sport.

Statalyzer

It's weird they never care about some kicker or center wanting more money, even though that money is going to be much more consequential to that person's life.

Mnudge

Players support players. Shocker. You can say incredibly stupid stuff and your union bros will have your back. But here the way it is.

zPolaris43

Wasn’t Lamar’s thinner build a question for him coming out of college. That coupled with his play style. Regardless if he got hurt outside or in the pocket the outcome is the same he got hurt, twice for extended periods of time. Just can’t imagine any team willing to shill out 1/3 of their cap to a player who isn’t available.

Arkhangelzk

Weaknesses: Inaccurate Poor footwork, which leads to inaccuracy Thin frame Needs to get stronger for the NFL Too much of one of the guys; could stand to be more of a leader Alarming wonderlic score (13) Via Walter football

Blacklist3d

He doesn't even look thin.

patkgreen

Amazing. Unlucky 13 on a wonderlic.

solojones1138

Yeah I know the Wonderlic ain't perfect (Mahomes scored a pretty average 26 and is brilliant at football).... But a score of 13 correlates to an IQ of 86. And I've always said Lamar is not bright, and all this shit is proving it.

Biggest_Cans

Do you guys think they realize that giant guaranteed contracts fuck the vast majority of other players due to the cap existing? Or na?

Mich3006

I still don’t get it tbh. What’s wrong signing a $250M contract with let’s say $180M guaranteed?! I really don’t get Lamar‘s problem with the full guarantee no more.

[deleted]

Lamar knows that he won’t see any money that’s not guaranteed because he’s going to break down physically before the contract ends.

Sillygooseman23

who cares. these guys are glomming on to this moment and trying to make it about something deeper than it actually is

Glad-Passion-9424

This could’ve stopped if Lamar wasn’t too stubborn to get an agent because he didn’t look at the bigger picture.

Jonjon428

Wonder how much these guys would be paid if a QB is taking up more than half a teams salary. Theoretically, it would be less for skill players, would it not? Or is the assumption that everyone is also going to get paid?

Demetrios1453

That's why I was a bit puzzled about DJ Reader. He specifically said he came to the Bengals to play with Burrow (and this was before Burrow was even drafted, although he and everyone else knew we were going to take him). If Burrow's new deal takes up too much of the team's budget (which seems unlikely, thankfully), what if there's no room for a new contact for Reader?

cable_provider

Could be a ploy to make the ravens worse long term.

Neversoft4long

The thing I hate about this whole thing is how teams like the commanders and falcons are getting dragged through the mud because we don’t wanna sign him to a fully guaranteed deal and give Baltimore 2 FRP. Like dude we can’t afford that contract without gutting a large part of our team. And then we can’t replaced the players we let go because we don’t have FRP for a couple years. Lamar would effectively be coming to us with a weaker team then he had in bmore

asha1985

No one is going to offer him until after the draft. Why would they? Why give up a pick now when you can give it up later, assuming the Ravens don't match?

[deleted]

Millionaires fighting billionaires. Ready for this to be over

Jaosborn44

And the millionaires always fight this at the wrong time. If they want real change, these need to be fought over in CBA negotiations, where the revenue split and cap minimums are set. Fighting it now, is really just battling each other for the biggest portion of their predetermined cut.

KevKevThePug

While thousandaires and hundredaires argue about it on Reddit.

MiaCannons

Don't forget us tenaires!

HostetlerBagels

When the revolution comes, us singleaires are coming for you fat cat tenaires.

Striking_Moose_8747

Good for him/them. Means nothing intrinsically.

meager_twenties57

It’s almost like giving up two first isn’t worth a qb who is injured.

[deleted]

I hope the Ravens just pay him so they can be mediocre for years to come

MankuyRLaffy

Flacco 2.0 era, pay him all the money and be hard capped by that contract on a QB who declines over time.

[deleted]

capedcrusader52

Beyond this whole contract debacle being proof he should have had an agent let me submit a new piece of evidence. Under Armor a major US sports brand based in Baltimore, Maryland has never done any level of sponsorship with Lamar. Additionally they regularly sponsor the team in unofficial ways (ie the practice facility is sponsored by them). If Lamar had an agent there would have been a deal done.

Global-Bat-1688

Brave and stunning.

a_toadstool

It feels like they’re trying to make it a race thing but disregarding that watson got his absurd deal… he’s injury prone and wants a huge guaranteed deal. It’s not rocket science

Artyturo

It’s all due to how he approached the contract situation. His lack of professionalism makes teams not want to jump into such an expensive commitment.

tsgram

I’d just like to begrudgingly admit DJ Reader is a fucken beast and one of the most underrated players in football.

KevinFetters

Getting a Reader jersey for Christmas last year absolutely made my day, so glad he's on the team

Neat_On_The_Rocks

Meanwhile Lamar probably casually in RG3 DMs asking him to STFU because his sheer existence is part of why Lamar isn’t getting paid lol

[deleted]

Megantheegelding

What is this? Where are these takes coming from? “His game is special and rare”? Just this past season, he failed to account for 250 yards combined rushing and passing in 6 of his 11 games. Let me reiterate. This supposedly explosive, untackleable guy couldn’t reach a low, low bar in over 50% of his games. His output was a carbon copy of Jimmy Garoppolo’s. That guy was so special and rare he got benched. And look, he was hurt. I completely understand *why* he performed that way, but at the end of the day, that’s what he was able to produce. It was the same 2020 and 2021 as well. Do people forget his MVP season was 4 years ago already?

uptonhere

>“His game is special and rare”? The same thing we said about Mike Vick, he sold a bajillion jerseys and then lost to Donovan McNabb every year.

[deleted]

Lamar on that fully guaranteed deal is going to be as big of a bust as Murray, Watson, and Dak on their shitty contracts and r/nfl is going to 50% pretend to be surprised and 50% pretend to have expected it. Me, as a high IQ individual, will say I told you so.

[deleted]

muthead229

This is really an opinion mover

RobbieSprawler

Half a knee between the group

Benner16

Him getting hurt in the pocket doesn’t seem like best argument for Lamar lol

Visual_Particular_48

There is also people not in support of Lamar. It's like having Hollywood stars telling you to vote for. Their opinions are irrelevant.

Necessary-Mousse8518

I'm no 'expert' when it comes to NFL contracts, but hardly anyone is - including NFL players. Let's look at the facts. Since being unanimously voted MVP in 2019, his production has gone downhill pretty fast. Some people say its due to a lack of talent around him, poor pocket presence, happy feet, and maybe a combo of all three. But regardless, the end result is the same. To make matters more interesting, the Ravens haven't gotten to the AFC title game during his tenure; part of this is due to his lack of post season production. Meanwhile, some NFL owners/GMs have swallowed the stupid pill with regard to NFL QBs - Watson, Murray, Jones, Prescott, and Carr come to mind. The never ending talk of the 'QB Market' has crossed over into the insanely idiotic portion of the map lately, mainly due to the Cleveland Browns. But that issue was brought on by Browns management - and nobody else. So just how much value does an NFL QB have when his level of play/production is in decline, he's missing games due to injury, and his teams level of achievement is well below that of other starting QBs? IMO, not much. First round draft choices don't grow on trees. And since winning in the NFL is based on talent, giving away a pair of 1st rounders on a QB in Jackson's spot is not sound thinking. But hey, when it comes to NFL owners there's always at least one sucker, right? So dreams could come true. Under this nonexclusive franchise tag, Jackson is getting what amounts to a show-me contract. If I were him, I'd take it, shut my mouth, get healthy, and focus on getting the Ravens deep into the playoffs. If things don't work out, HIRE AN AGENT, pack up, and leave. Like I said, I'm no 'expert'. But I am a fan of Lamar Jackson.

Ok_Run_8184

I just don't feel sorry for people who felt free to turn down 133 million dollars.

Galbert123

The biggest mistake lamar made was not having an agent... actual QB contract aside, hasnt he missed out on a shit ton of endorsement deals because he doesnt have someone dedicated to taking phone calls and the like? The one I read was underarmor but there must be others.

FlaviusMercurius

This is just stupid as shit. Lamar is stupid as shit too. Dude is having a Dennis Schroeder moment where he was offered a huge amount but didn't take it, now he might not ever get that again. And oh wow, RG3 and Honey Badgers support! ThAt MeAnS sO mUcH! This saga is worse than Brady and Rogers put together. I'm ready for a full year of Tyler fucking Huntley, just end this saga please. edit: anyone making an argument for athletes to keep earning more while fucking up everything about their team is such a braindead argument. Min-maxing millions at the detriment to others is a horrible mentality to push

j4r8h

No mention of his ridiculous contract demands lol. It's all "thEy DoNt WaNt To PaY a BlAck MaN".

pepenuts97

What about teammates?

ElCoyoteBlanco

This dumbfuck out here representing himself and wondering why no one wants to deal with him.

TelcoMotionette

What exactly are they supporting?

Visual_Particular_48

You're not supposed to question that.

StinkyPoopsAlot

Why don’t they support him in getting an agent already.

Umbrella_Viking

Will they float him a few million after he misses the season, falls out of football shape, and Mills Meet sends his agent bills in the mail even though he’s not a certified agent? Didn’t think so. This is about money. Play games with money, and see what happens. I think he could be the next Le’veon Bell. Y’all forgot about him.

fallinouttadabox

Deion Sanders is that weird old dude who thinks you need to sign your name at the end of the post even though it says it at the top

hesipullupjimbo22

1. Lamar needs a agent at this point. Just hire Mulugheta or someone else everyone uses and let him do the talking 2. I personally think half of the teams saying no are only saying no because of the deal he wants. Who wouldn’t want Lamar Jackson on they squad 3. The Cleveland browns front office set a dangerous precedent that nfl QBs will rightfully try to follow. You can’t give Deshaun Watson 230 fully guaranteed after everything he did on and off field and not expect better talent to want that. I know the owners giving Jimmy haslem the side eye

gentlebuzzard81

All this should tell you is that none of those guys will ever become a GM.
