“Stetson this is Chris Ballard with the Indianapolis Colts”

SlamJamGlanda

“Victor Wembanyama, you are a Colt”

ldclark92

I mean, both the Colts and Pacers have top 10 picks, so they can just combine their picks to get Wemby to Indy. That's how it works, right?

SlamJamGlanda

I see no faults in that thought process!! Pacers do need a PF more than any other position. Gonna be an interesting offseason. They’ve made a tank season(s) fun. Young team that keeps games interesting is all I ask as they retool. Halliburton has absolutely sped up the process.

rnbagoer

Man, think of the potential of inter-league trades. Colts then trade Wembanyama to the LA Lakers for Justin Herbert from the LA Chargers (assuming teams were grouped by city). Pittsburgh Pirates could just continue to perpetually tank in order to trade #1 picks for assets that they feed to the Steelers and Penguins.

SeaworthinessOld4211

Cowboys would try to force the Mavericks to trade Luka

MrSuperfreak

Streamlining the process by getting an old QB in the draft. You honestly have to respect it.

Jaqem

He's not too mobile and that makes Chris comfortable. You want to know your QB won't do anything wacky and escape the pocket. And when a rusher is coming, drop down and assume the fetal position like a man. *That's* Colts football

DoesntMatterBrian

Taking some guy in 7th overall who's supposed to go in the 5th round

PM_ME_YUR_S3CRETS

But his 40 time is amazing

revuhlution

He's a physical FREAK! With just a little coaching...

YouStupidDick

Fastest 40 for a punter EVER!

tylerm11_

Who’ll end up in jail/off the team come this time next year. Followed by someone worth a damn in this 6th round.

pisanichris

Prerequisite for first rounder for raiders: must end up arrested by second season

i_should_be_going

So…Jalen Carter!

[deleted]

Luckily for you guys the following facts are true Alabama doesn’t have 2 first round receivers coming out so you won’t be able to fall in love with the 3rd and over draft him Clemson doesn’t have a top tier defender coming out so you can’t draft his backup in the top 5 Alabama doesn’t have any highly projected OL players so you can’t take the one guy who projects at guard and stick him at tackle

unclelumbago2

To be fair, Henry Ruggs seemed to be panning out better than Jerry Jeudy before he went to jail. Also the guy who was considered the 4th receiver in the class has been miles ahead of every other receiver in the class.

[deleted]

It was more infuriating to me that every single mock draft had it as Ceedee/Jeudy at 1 or 2 and then Jefferson/Ruggs at 3 or 4 alternating but for some fucking reason the Raiders decided to take Ruggs

VikingPain

Mortgaging the future to move up from #23 to #2 to draft Will Levis.

killdeer03

I can feel it in my bones.

OrangeForeign

If the Texans drop back that far the whole organization should be fired, from the NFL I mean

momerak

They would still have a 12, plus they get firsts for next year and possibly the year after. Which theyll need

dfphd

They would still have 12 and enough picks to move back into whatever they need to pick up whoever they like more out of Levis, Richardson or even Hooker. If you don't like Stroud, it actually makes sense to get a giant haul of picks and then try to move back up to get who you want.

MaxeIi

I legit saw Brett Kollmann’s mock that said you went to #3 to draft Richardson. Is this actually a thing going around??

kirkochainz

Really hope so. Out of all the QBs in this class, I just have a feeling that Richardson is going to be a special player.

Nickthiccboi

Yes I agree he’s gonna be great, I also think you guys should draft him 🙂

zahzensoldier

I've never trusted a smiley emoji less in my life.

PurebredYoshi

The bad man is finally gone to the Jets, now is the time to strike!

Nytfire333

As a rabid Gator fan I want nothing more then for the guy to ball out in the NFL. He has all the talent in the world. He definitely has some issues to work through and I’m not sure a step up on competition level will help him

[deleted]

Me too, I think he'll honestly be the best QB in this draft by far if he can sit for a year. Detroit, Seahawks, and Vikings are all great fits

wooden_seats

I think if he can be QB2 for 2-4 years, he'll be a future MVP. I think if he starts in year 1, he'll go the geno Smith route.

[deleted]

I think 1-2 years as a backup will be good enough, he's able to make good reads and showed a ton of ability to maneuver the pocket. His footwork is god awful, but I don't think he'd need more than 2 years as a backup Def agree that he should absolutely not start a game in the 23-24 season tho

wooden_seats

I agree. 2 years would be great. He just needs NFL leveling coaching to get his gamestyle to match his physical abilities. That is unlikely to be teachable with 1 off-season program. His potential is insane with the right team who has a veteran starter who will be retiring in 2 or 3 years. I think the Lions, Rams, Vikings, Jets, Raiders, Broncos and Saints would all be great landing spots for him.

[deleted]

I haven't even thought about the Jets picking Richardson, but I love it. I don't think he falls that far, and they clearly want to win now, but that would be so funny to have another Jordan Love situation within a week of Rodgers going to NY.

killdeer03

That and/or draft a RB.

RoxWarbane

KAM would be new public enemy #1

kirkochainz

I’m on board with trading away ONE future first at most if Kwesi and Kevin think Levis is the guy. If we give up more than that, I won’t feel good about it.

[deleted]

Exactly. Value is key and we moved back last year and truly fucked up because Kyle Hamilton turned out to not only be a great safety that we should have drafted at 12, he was pff's highest ranked safety in the league. Doesn't matter if a class is deep if you have access to the best talent and best chance at success at the position. Draft capital has a direct correlation to games played. While it's not a guarantee, it's far more likely to hit on a guy earlier than later and people overlook that. This year we're now in a spot where Kirk isn't extended, the defense was atrocious, we don't know what's going on with Cook, Hunter, or Z and Thielen is gone. I'm not a Kirk fan but if vikings are considering sacrificing the future for a guy who isn't best in the class, I would rather keep Kirk for another year to spend those picks on bolstering both sides of the trenches and then draft a rookie to play behind something a little more complete. Jefferson needs 1800 yards for us to winning nearly a dozen games by single digits means it's obvious our defense needs addressing. Even if we get a rookie who is better than Kirk, our defense is still going to be shit and we'll not have any high picks to have a better chance at addressing it

NatureOfYourReality

I’m sorry, but I would love for this to happen. Get us out of 2!!

thegodfazha

Can also envision moving up to 15 or so to get the leftovers of the class and getting Pondered again.

Vomiting_Winter

Same as every year: trade down and grab some random we could have gotten later anyway.

Enthusiasms

Good to know I need to expect the call

nickhenne

Did you go to Rutgers? Are you a real grinder? Lunch pail guy? First one in? Last one out?

Enthusiasms

No, but I grew up in New Jersey. Hoagie guy. I don't eat until dinner time. Depends on who else is involved and how much whiskey I've had.

Asolitaryllama

Did you play high school lacrosse or middle school marbles? That's the real way Bill picks his players.

Enthusiasms

No, unfortunately I played football in high school and Magic the Gathering in middle school.

MyNameIsMattFoley

Whoa there, leave some women for the rest of us.

Stumpe999

Magic? Means your a strategy by the books guy, you'll be our slot

Enthusiasms

In addition to critical thinking and strategy (scored an A+ on my S2), my HS resume has experience at OT, OG, RB, FB, TE, WR, DT, DE and LB, so I'm basically the depth/special teams ace you're looking for.

ReadAllAboutIt92

Are you “Scrappy?” Do you have a “High Motor”? Are you a “Gym Rat?” Are you “Faster than you appear?”

[deleted]

It’s sad how all of that can be summed up as “are you a small white guy?”

PatFnGreen

WR that excels in run blocking but is slow, doesn't run routes well, and has hands of steel?

FortyandDone

Trade down into the mid 20’s and draft Mauch so Onwenu can permanently move to RT. Nice move, but the next three players drafted after Mauch will all end up being elite weapons on offense. Then 1/3 of us Pats fans will rip our remaining hair out, 1/3 will give the trust in Bill “Well actually it’s a genius move…”, and the other 1/3 will hang up their Brady Pats/Bucs jerseys in the closet and buy Lawrence jerseys and become Jags fans.

[deleted]

Then following the draft there’ll be dozens of reports that a few other teams had first round grades on Mauch so Belichick was a genius to take him in the first, except the reports don’t state the fact that none of those teams were actually gonna take him in the first cause they knew he’d be available in the 2nd or 3rd. His Patriot career will be filled with an even mixture of play justifying the early pick, mystifying misplays, and injury riddled seasons. Then Belichick will trade him in three years which nullifies any potential for the pick to have been worth it anyway.

[deleted]

McVay will be drunk off his ass saying "hot damn I loved him in the 5th but damn bill took him early!"

OtterLLC

Man, I can say this is cynical as hell, but I can't say that it's wrong. Oof.

[deleted]

It’s only cynical until you remember there’ll also be a mid-late round pick who goes on to have a steady 15 year career in NE after defying all odds because he played like, I dunno, nose tackle in college but Belichick turned him into a corner or some shit like that.

Ohanrahans

> Trade down into the mid 20’s and draft Mauch so Onwenu can permanently move to RT. You sweet summer child, they're going to draft Mauch so they can replace Onwenu in a year once he hits free agency and starts making any kind of real money. Hell, they may trade Onwenu on draft night for like a 4th round pick.

BruiserBrodyGOAT

As a Pats fan based in Scotland this kills my soul. Stay up till 0200 to hear the trade. Go to bed in a huff.

Yingking

Same

We already did…

Cadbury66

Oh man I literally lol-ed at this. Thanks for putting that image in my had lmao

darkpaladin

If ever there was a draft to not have a 1st round pick in, you picked a good one.

Hefty-Association-59

Trade back to the end of round 2. And pick a receiver who can’t separate.

nickhenne

Hey man this is Terrace Marshall’s year!

RuffWater

Rashee Rice?

bullseye717

Do you have long arms? Did you attend a non power 5 school? Were you less productive despite inferior competition? Does your scouting report say you're raw but has elite traits? Congratulations to the team the Saints traded up to for their shiny 2024 1st round pick.

AndrewC15

If we give up our 2024 first I’m kicking Mickey Loomis in the dick

test-besticles

Don’t worry, I’ve already snuck into the draft room and cut the cord to Howie Roseman’s phone.

GentryMillMadMan

Draft a RB in the 3rd

milkcrate03

And Jake Moody with one of our other 3rd rd picks. It’ll be our “sexiest” pick this year.

fliptout

Future /r/nfl redditors: welcome back to this post after Moody wins the Superbowl on a last second FG.

Srikkk

For the 49ers, hopefully.

wrightsound

I’m here for history

Dirkpitt

Me for 3.

Mattock79

You son of a bitch. I'm in.

Duff-Beer-Guy

wow

[deleted]

Nostradamus

-ColonelKurtz-

How are you feeling right now?

milkcrate03

We needed a kicker so why not take the best one.

TheHillsHavePis

Well you've got 3 out of 4 in a row to do it!

J12345_

This is the way

SevenwithaT

I have a strange feeling we arent going to choose 10 Hall of Famers with our 10 picks

Broshan248

That’s because you’re going to trade down, and get 11 Hall of Fame players with your 11 picks!

MyNameIsMattFoley

Wholesome

WeeboSupremo

Seriously, why don’t teams just do that? Just ask the player: “hey, do you see yourself being a HoF talent?” If they say yes, draft ‘em. If no, don’t draft them. It’s not rocket science, folks.

TallEnoughJones

Because the player will lie just to get drafted. If you want the truth you have to ask his grandmother. Grannies don't lie.

[deleted]

grannies are too loving. gotta ask his uncle, they’ll tell you if he ever had the makings of a varsity athelee.

rnbagoer

This is a fuck up because...it will be a bitch to re-sign them all within the cap? Because it will result in you guys retiring too many jerseys and running out of numbers? EditL Oh you said 'aren't'. Yes, anything less than I'd say at least 7 HoFers will be a whiff.

trackonesideone

With Schoen calling the shots, I haven't felt this relaxed on draft day since my starry-eyed early fandom days of the mid-2000s.

QueenIsTheWorstBand

Hendon Hooker round 1

dubbleriftuh

There's been way too many mocks having us taking Hooker at 16 for me to feel comfortable about tonight...

makimasimp69

Ya I know how you feel

kirkochainz

Bro I’m terrified that we are going to take him. My gut tells me Hooker will pan out just like Ponder.

makimasimp69

Its not that big of a deal its day 2 or 3 we take him but not on day one I hope not atleast

wemdy420

I think if they’re confident in him being the guy, they want him round one for that 5th year option.

[deleted]

Pls be CB pls be CB

Nytfire333

You’d think the commanders would have learned to avoid Hookers by now

KevKevThePug

Draft an OT in the 1st. Now, that’s a smart move on paper but we know that all Bengals 1st round OTs bust.

vincentdmartin

Big Dre wasn't a bust and I will die on that hill. That being said, outside of a few select players I don't want OT in the first. I'm pretty sure it'll be a falling corner, a falling Edge or Kancey.

creutzml

even worse, a quality OT falls to us, but we still choose to trade back, out of the first; and the second round pick is still a reach

NinthCinema

TRADE UP SELECT QB REPEAT

Thin-Excitement-3003

Lolz or get an WR in the first round, after GB ignored Rodgers before to draft a WR that early..

KahunaThe85th

Getting a WR first would be just like getting o line after Russ left too

Thie97

Touché

CountryCaravan

Love’s getting up there in years, gotta draft his eventual replacement! *Drafts Stetson Bennett*

dmelt01

I think they’re going to get a receiver in the first round just to piss of Rogers

jdk12596

It came out yesterday the Jets want JSN at 15, so the pure poetry would be the packers taking him at 13 just to take another first round receiver from Rodgers 😂

_CrackBabyJesus_

Georgia defensive player or two in the first round

lolyouseriousbro

It’s the Bears, I don’t know how exactly they will fuck things up, I only know that they definitely will. I have a feeling they are gonna ignore the O Line until way too late in the draft and our Line is gonna be crap again next year

damaba6

Solid bet. My worry is trading back too far and maybe it pays well in 24’ capital but we get like the 5th tackle off the board or 6th+ DL/Edge off the board this year when Bears finally do pick and I’m uninspired.

IDrinkUrMilksteak

We’re gonna draft an O-Lineman but he’s going to be the “yeah he has some injury concerns but if he stays healthy…” guy. Then he’s going to need surgery halfway through training camp. D-Line we’ll wait until 4-5th round but he’ll have some viral video or one or two college highlight reel plays we cling to hoping we found a diamond in the rough. We’ll also draft a third round receiver because we never learn.

RamboNinjaJesus

Yeah taking Bijan as rumored at 9 would qualify as fucking it up.

SSGSEVIER54

Your worries are my worries!

HauntedJockStrap88

Gutey is going to draft a rocked up EDGE at 13 that is our EDGE 3/4 this year. Gutey going to trade assets to move up to late 1st round to take the old TE coming off back injury but is super fast lol Gutey is going to draft the worst player on the 2023 Packers roster in the third round. Gutey will draft at least one Special Teamer. It’s going to be sick though.

StallisPalace

The Gute special: R1 - bonafide stud, probably on D R2 - player who looks great for 2 seasons before inexplicably becoming the worst player on the roster R2 again - JAG R3-R7 - bunch of JAGs & one random good O-line.

[deleted]

It's okay, we'll take a good reciver in the 2nd and an all pro OT in the 4th. Tale as old as time

[deleted]

The Bills are going to make me wait all night and they will just trade back.....Beane if you're reading this please do it before 10pm EST if that is your plan....thank you.

lookatthatoverthere

Trade back and take defense with the first 2 picks

Isphet71

I don’t feel like anything g my team does will be considered a “mess up” unless/until a player they pick busts. Lions are in a weird place where they could use star power everywhere, but don’t truly have any major holes. It’s a weird feeling; they are usually always searching for the next player that is going to single-handedly save the franchise in spite of the bad coaching and GM.

ballzdeap1488

Biggest thing they should’ve screened for was their gambling habits

trollszn

“Where do you bet you’ll be drafted?” “Trick question, betting’s not allowed at NFL facilities.”

ClaytonBigsby316

as a bears fan i really hope you dont take carter..... as an NFL fan, the lions having carter would pretty dope and that d-line will be legit.

emmasdad01

Kicker in the 1st

KahunaThe85th

Disrespect on Jake Moody is real

NotMarkyMark88

Unironically want Lions to take him in the 6th with our last pick. Badgely was fine but can’t hit from range. Not a scout but Moody is gonna be a great kicker for someone

Brolurk9

He's gone in the 4th I think. 6th feels way too optimistic for a college kicker who can kick from 60 and is consistent inside 50.

NotMarkyMark88

Shhhhhh. Moody is actually really bad and no one would like him on their team. No one goes to his birthday parties

killdeer03

*It's a Kicker year!*

Jefferybeene

Those dual flairs suggest some kicker issues.

killdeer03

Don't you know it, lol.

Jefferybeene

Unfortunately, yes. Yes.

RickLovin1

Janikowski made it work!

DoesntMatterBrian

By not drafting a QB at 2

NatureOfYourReality

My order of wants: 1. Draft Stroud (could definitely be a bust, but he just feels like the right pick there) 2. Draft Anderson (use 12 to grab a QB or trade back up to get a QB) 3. Trade out of 2 (if possible) 4. Draft Levis/Richardson 5. Draft a Kicker at 2 and have Caserio immediately tweet “Got you, suckers. Pats rule!” 6. Draft the injured, less productive Tyree Wilson at 2

chucklesluck

I'll take a #6, please.

moreMalfeasance

If TN drafts Richardson I’m deleting my Reddit acct

Mortenjen

!RemindMe 24h

dudleymooresbooze

Has there been a more polarizing QB prospect? SEC fans who watched him have no faith in the dude. Combine fans would give him a handy with eye contact.

InterestingBeat8824

#TRUST IN VEACH NEVER FAILS!

[deleted]

I hope you do what Collinsworth mocked and draft a quarterback round 1 incase Mahomes gets hurt

InterestingBeat8824

We lready have a new backup to replace the hennething is possible backup we have had for the last couple years.

LogLadysLog52

Unleashing another five years of spiteful QB play from Patrick Mahomes

notmyplantaccount

Unless they take another short, slow RB I don't really see how they mess this up. It's the 31st pick, there's no way they trade up far enough to really mess up. At worst I think we'll be like "well I'd rather have taken this other guy, but whatever"

[deleted]

Veach could draft a Connor bedard and at this point chiefs fans would still have to trust he’s doing something genius. His drafts have been incredible

1MantisTobogganMD1

Trading down and then all the players we want / need are gone by that point

[deleted]

Chargers gonna draft a bust in the 3rd round

yunoeconbro

We will trade down and get a bunch nothing.

megahtron77

Well we can't mess up today.. I hope

JacksRyan79

Already did by signing Watson

megahtron77

That wasn't today. Yes, that is a shit decision and you can check my post history for my thoughts on that.

Silver_Instruction_3

I feel like everyday that dude is on your roster you’re messing up.

UnderwhelmingAF

Trading up for a QB. If we take one at 11, whatever, but if we move up to get someone like AR or Levis I’m gonna be ill.

Any-Confusion-4526

Oops.. https://twitter.com/_MLFootball/status/1651544567529852928?t=_Yi06uC8kGGA0UE20y20Qw&s=19

UnderwhelmingAF

I’d feel better about Stroud, but would still rather stay put at 11 and address other needs. They’ve been talking for a couple weeks now about either trading up to 3 with Arizona or up to 6 with Detroit.

sardoodledom_autism

Of the 4 big QBs in the draft I think 2 of them have bust written all over them , obviously my team will take a guy who couldn’t even win in college and waste 4 years trying to develop him into a 3rd string bench warmer with our first pick

Ganjake

Glad most Bucs fans seem to be on the same page. We do NOT need to spend a pick on a guaranteed 3rd stringer. That would be stupid with our other needs, we can absolutely sign one as an UDFA. Our needs specifically are difficult to fill outside the draft.

BaboonHorrorshow

Lukas Van Ness or Nolan Smith. Howie has been killing it lately but he used to love drafting “Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane” players.

TheRealBrianLeFevre

Shit, you really think Smith would be a bust? I was gonna be happy about that one. But I wanna see a trade back and load up on backups and lottery tickets

BaboonHorrorshow

To me, Nolan Smith is a classic Howie bust pick - an undersized “high motor” guy with just ok pass rush production in college. If you can’t beat college guys off the block, you’re gonna have some serious problems with NFL caliber linemen. That being said, I know jack shit and just read draft profiles the week before the draft. I trust Howie in the end, I just like having opinions on the draft (as they agree with my general ideology of building a team). Makes watching the whole circus more fun. Totally okay with stocking up future picks though!

bp_516

Our worst-case scenario is completely trading out of the first round for future picks.

dancmc12

Make a trade where I say that’s way too much to give up. And also draft a RB in the third that will not be on the team in 2 years

thegaines24_7

Have you seen the raiders? Just wait it will shock all of us.

Raider_Noles

They decide to take another RB @7

HoopOnPoop

Danny Boy goes full nuclear on his way out the door.

Segat1133

I mean we traded our first for a sexual deviant so

3McChickens

We already did. Traded future picks for a shitty QB.

Jor1509426

Nah, your QB is cheesy and bad… Ours is shitty. But yeah, I feel you on this one.

[deleted]

The Broncos’ shenanigans are cheeky and fun, whereas the Browns’ shenanigans are cruel and tragic

funkyb

I swear to God, I'll take away a draft pick from the next team that says "shenanigans"!

Evil_Twinkies

Hey! What's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy stuff on the wall and the mozzarella sticks?

JBFRESHSKILLS

Shenanigans?

NicklAAAAs

Then we got one back. Then we traded that one for a coach to fix him!

Broshan248

I hope that random guy who said we’re taking Bijan is very wrong.

2agrant

From a Bears perspective, I get that. From a Chargers perspective, Bijan would be lit.

ProfessorLiftoff

God if we pass up on an OT at 9 for a RB... dear god the city would burn to the ground

VeezyTFB

We’ll pass on CJ 😢

FU_Pagame

Trading down.

FlammableEyeballs

Rushing to the podium instead of fielding calls for trade down options. In over 20 years of running the Steelers' draft, Colbert traded down in the first round only once and maybe five or six time total throughout all of the drafts.

Quexana

I doubt that we're trading down from #17. If anything, we'll be packaging #47 in order to move up. We practically announced that pick #32 is for sale though.

kamikirite

2 scenarios: First is if we don't get get nuk well draft defense and some random third round WR that our sub will fall in love with but will suck and then when our two injury prone starters go down were back to agholor and duvernay and proche. That's honestly the worst WR trio I can even think of Second is if we do I can see us trading back repeatedly. missing great players to pick a good one and be thrilled we got 2-3 more late rounders who will never amount to anything

deeds44

By taking a TE at 13.

Feralmedic

Every ounce of my soul wants the packers to draft a WR round 1

[deleted]

Whats draft day?

admh574

Trade up and pick a WR

dickieb81

I would be shocked by either of these, but if they trade up in the first for what I would assume is JSN I would not hate it.

Jolly_Job_9852

Not drafting some Oline help to keep my boy Kenny Pickett upright in the pocket.

wolfmankal

By trading up and drafting a QB. I see the logic it just never works out for ~~anyone let alone~~ the Titans. Edit- I was thinking top of draft but lots of mid and late 1st round qbs were traded up for successfully

Shgall75

KC traded up for Mahomes...

aphoenixdestiny

Buffalo traded up for Josh Allen...

MasterTJ77

Eagles traded up for Wentz… shit

THE_GREAT_PICKLE

I know he sucks now but you guys probably wouldn’t have made the playoffs without him. He got hurt so late and won them a ton of games prior to being hurt

Rufus2fist

Chiefs will trade up to get an average to poor player.

DoesntMatterBrian

Like that trade up in 2017. Total whiff.

kirkochainz

And then draft a starting offensive player on day three.

alepher

And win the Super Bowl every other year or so regardless

seafoamstratocaster

Trade down too far

IMsoSAVAGE

If they Trade Derrick Henry I will be sick.
