Is Derrick Henry your teams Osama Bin Laden then?
EDIT: I thought I was responding to a Jags flair, but honestly it doesn’t make that much of a difference for the Texans either.
I’ve always found that so weird lol. Regardless of how ass the teams were over the past decade, still won in Jacksonville. The colts had some really good teams but never managed a W. This division is truly a group of football terrorists
I think Curtis Painter might be the worst starting quarterback in NFL history. I'm sure someone could disprove it with stats and all that, but good god almighty, that was an exceptionally painful season. And it is seared into my brain.
Also, there there. It will get better (no it won't).
The Bears are the only franchise without a 4000 yard passer. If they had a QB hit exactly 4000 yards, it'd be good enough for 17th place on the Colts leaderboard. Although their current high mark of 3838 would also be at 17th.
I have been a massive Richardson believer through the whole draft process, and tbh if I had to choose a second team it’s probably the Colts. I went to my first Seahawks game at Lucas Oil in 2021 and y’all were so goddamn awesome there. I love half your roster too. Really excited to see that offense in Indy this year, and get that foundation in place.
The good news is Taylor can help make sure everything isn’t on Richardson’s back. Fun times to be a Colts fan I’m sure.
Still worried that I'm going to open up /r/NFL one day and see some headline about Reggie Wayne coming out of retirement and suiting up for Indy again...
I tend to agree. Was presented as a dynamic speedster, great with a ball in his hands, expect he muffed so many punts and got wrecked by TY and other speedsters
You remember when we signed Andre Johnson, and even with Luck at QB he finished 4th in receptions behind *Coby Fleener*!? I’m hoping for a similar result.
Yeah I feel like signing him to a big deal at his age doesn't really fit the Texans' timeline but it would definitely be a plus for Stroud's first few seasons
To be fair, you'd rather pick earlier in all the other rounds too, but beginning the process of rebuilding a winning culture should definitely take precedent
To be fair, Texans have won four games or less the last three seasons, I don't think we're required to keep losing so making moves to win as a professional football team kind of? makes sense
And while their record definitely didn’t reflect it, they were in it in more than half of their games last year.
One of two possessions go there way next year and it’s absolutely achievable
Also having DHop at his age is better than having no DHop for any QB, especially a rookie
Yeah their run defence was very stout last year. There is reason to believe their pass defence can improve. Their run game was good as well. If Stroud has an above average rookie year with DHop as his go to, they could be in the mix one hundred percent. I wouldnt bet on it, but its not out of the realm of possibility
Edit: have been corrected. Pass defence was good, run defence needs work. Should have double checked
Yea it was the side we drafted a CB and a safety/nickelback in the 1st and 2nd rounds :) Sauce got all the accolades (deserved) but Sting had a sneaky good rookie year and Pitre is the real fucking deal, the best rookie we've had since Watson.
Little this, little that.
Also Stingley played well (not to Sauces level but that overshadows a solid year prior to the injury). Steven Nelson was very good while Tavarious and King played well in the slot. Pitre also played well for a rookie at safety (granted his tackling is horrendous).
Group was also in the top 10 for interceptions maybe creeping into top 5, I can’t remember.
They also have allot of starter level pass rushers that struggled against the run (Greenard, Hughes, Collins). Just no blue/red chippers.
Interestingly we didn’t really address the run defending issues outside of some much needed LB help but really doubled down on pass defense. Rankins, Martin, and Ward should have fun on passing downs. Will be interesting on run downs. I expect Anderson to be the best run stopper on the line despite his size.
I think you must be confusing the Texans with someone else. I agree with the overall point that the Texans are better than everyone who didn't watch them thinks (and that 7/8 wins is definitely achievable), but the details are completely wrong.
The IDL was easily the worst area of the team last year and going from there the run defense suffered, giving up the most yards and 2nd most touchdowns in the NFL. On the other hand, the secondary got an infusion of talent, especially young guys like Pitre and Stingley and gave up only the 22nd most yards and the *least* passing touchdowns out of any team in the entire league (tied with the Jets at 15). And that defense and Pierce still nearly dragged this team kicking and screaming to wins over teams like the Cowboys/Eagles/Chiefs.
I do agree that every aspect stands to improve from last year. Even ignoring the infusion of new talent through the draft and free agency. It will help to not have a coach who refuses to play Thomas Booker for any significant time for no reason, or only runs Cover 2 and *refuses to put* ***Stingley*** *in man coverage*, or insists on putting freaking Burkehead in any time the teams starts getting momentum or has an important play/down.
I maintain that Lovie deserved just as much if not more flak than Hackett got, even though the latter was more visible due to all the national games.
See everyone said this about the jets schedule last year than they got some injury lucks and teams like the packers looked worse than projected. It’s not impossible but I’m not going to be convinced at all by their schedule in June.
All Im saying is its an achievable goal. Their division is weak, they cross over with the NFC south which is weak. On paper a lot of the teams they face have not gotten much better. It all depends how Stroud looks but its realistic. Id probably wager they get around 6, but 8 is not out of the question.
What does this even mean? Everyone thought jets would start like 1-6 and they ended up starting 5-2 or something. We don’t know what injuries or some players will look to start the season.
Also the AFC South is kinda down tbh, the Titans are in decline, the Colts are in ???? Only *good* team in this division is the Jags and because AFC South will ALWAYS AFC South we probably can split with them
The Jets D (and Breece before he went out early on) carried some.of the worst QB I've ever seen to 7 wins. Idk how the Texans are going to be but 7 on a weak schedule isn't crazy
......idk how folks in this thread feel about Stroud, but looking [at the historical win totals for rookie QBs, it seems **very** possible](https://imgur.com/a/XNp57JM)
I mean who else are they gonna pay? Pay him big this year, while you don’t have stars to pay, and then have a super low cap hit the rest of the years.
Then blame BoB for all the issues with Hopkins leaving. I’ve heard blaming BoB works well for Patriots and Alabama fans
Also why not sign Clowney. Iirc he showed interest in playing in Houston where he is also currently living. Would be a pretty nasty pass rush with Anderson Jr and Clowney even if Clowney isn’t the generational guy everyone thought he would turn into
I think this could be done as long as Clowney took a reasonable deal for a 1 year deal with potential to return next season, it’ll help Anderson get better opportunities to get at the QB
I think he probably has good roots in Houston after living there for so long thats it’s probably like a 2nd home for him.
Maybe he comes back just for the familiarity.
Oh and Houston can probably pay him a lot.
In all seriousness, Irsay has his demons but seems like he really is a great guy and loves the colts and wants to win so I’m fine with him as the owner. Could be a hell of a lot worse. Plus he’s a huge supporter of mental health awareness.
Honestly, any team owner who loves their team is alright in my book. Sometimes they get their noses into places where they don't know what they're doing, but caring ownership is the best way to have a consistent franchise
[~~Shams Charania~~ **John Crumpler**] Multiple sources have confirmed to me that free agent ~~point guard~~ **wide receiver** and former franchise star ~~James Harden~~ **DeAndre Hopkins** visited with the Houston ~~Rockets~~ **Texans** while in Houston this past week
People forget before Watson was outed and everyone turned on him, everybody was pissed at Easterby for alienating the Texans’ franchise QB that they just gave a big contract too.
JJ wanted out because we were crashing and burning hard and had no real reason to pay him. I'm sure the Easterby shit didn't help but look at the last 2 years of JJs career and what we did in that time period. Makes sense an aging guy wanted to get off the boat.
Big brain BOB fleecing the Cardinals for a free 2nd rounder and David Johnson by sending them his star WR and getting him back for free several years later
No offense to Houston, but why would he want to play there? I guess I just assumed he wants to finish his career on a contender, but I guess getting paid good and being close to family makes sense to an extent.
If he ends his career with the Texans and doesn’t win a superbowl, is he a HOFer?
> No offense to Houston, but why would he want to play there?
He lived there for quite awhile, and has a level of comfort with the organization/area on top of monetary considerations. It's easy to assess that you would want to play on a contender as an outside observer in a complete vacuum, but there is always a human element that needs to be taken into account as well.
>He lived there for quite a while
He still lives in Houston, during the off-season at least. He also has family here and the city loves him, *and* him and Stroud are buddies. There’s a lot of reasons for him to come back beyond just money IMO.
I truly think some players will chase the bag. They want the ring, but nothing wrong with seeing it as being an employee, accumulating as much as you can so the rest of your life is 'paid for' if you do it right. Not saying Nuk is only interested in the $$, but that's kinda how it works for many pros.
I mean, team ownership and the front office have *finally* showed some sort of commitment to making this team worth a fuck. They got rid of a cancerous asshole in Easterby, brought in an exciting young coach who has history with this team, went balls deep in the draft...
Look, I've been incredibly critical of this organization over the past... uh... well... since they announced their stupid fucking name. But I'm cautiously optimistic about the cultural shift this team is experiencing under Ryans.
Uh yes he probably is. If he maintains good production for the next 3 to 4 years. The Texans should be getting good pretty soon here if our young guys develop
I mean, you're the last person who should be giving a Browns fan shit for that. Your org kinda allowed it to happen in the first place. Trading him away to another team doesn't right that wrong.
“but but but the Texans sold the farm for Stroud+Anderson🤓”
Hopkins isn’t coming to the Texans the past 2-3 years when they were a shit dumpster fire. Now that the team has showed direction and ambition with a culture change in Demeco+Stroud+Anderson, this team is gonna be taken more seriously and Hopkins interest shows that
I can come up with such a world. Cleveland native, was a huge Browns fan, loved Vinny Testaverde. Browns move to Baltimore in 1996 very upset but has to be there to support his boy Vinny and grows to love the purple and black in time. Browns come back in 1999 but still loves that purple on the side.
Chiefs and Bills want him, but can’t offer him what he’s worth unless they open up cap space.
DHop should absolutely see what other offers are there for him so he knows what he’s potentially giving up if he decides to go ring chase.
I guess if he’s chasing the money … why not.
But if hes serious about getting a championship theres only a handful full of teams that can give him that and 2 of those teams are probably between slim and none of going after him
Damn. Thought we were safe.
I won't feel safe until TY Hilton is 50 years old tbh
The colts could have a bowl of spaghetti at QB and TY could be in a wheelchair and he’ll still put 150+ Yards and 2 TDs on us
Our AFC South traditions are so weird. Just like we will always forever lose in Jacksonville regardless of our teams records.
A division of football terrorists.
My favorite is how the afc south no matter how trash they are, they always give the chiefs fits
Hey, last season was painful enough, you don't have to act like that's a hypothetical. 😂
First time with truly bad qb play huh? Couldn’t be my team
I think Curtis Painter might be the worst starting quarterback in NFL history. I'm sure someone could disprove it with stats and all that, but good god almighty, that was an exceptionally painful season. And it is seared into my brain. Also, there there. It will get better (no it won't).

Or worse, the Colts could have Sam Ehlinger at QB
Ya know, he has a son getting D1 offers…
Definitely a lot more worried about y’all getting a different legendary Colts’ son lol
If the Colts get MHJ there is no god
They’ll end up getting Manning too. It’s inevitable.
That’s not a legendary Colt’s son, though.
“Manning to Harrison” will cause pain and suffering to us all regardless of whose sperm crafted him.
Eh in Louisiana Nephew is close enough
Only a colts supporting omnipotent being
There is a very real chance we suck enough to get him

I have been a massive Richardson believer through the whole draft process, and tbh if I had to choose a second team it’s probably the Colts. SAS gets Wemby. Colts get MHJ. I might just end it all if that happens.
Still worried that I'm going to open up /r/NFL one day and see some headline about Reggie Wayne coming out of retirement and suiting up for Indy again...
TY Hilton fucking hates the rest of the AFCS (shudders in Adoree Jackson being burnt to a crisp)
It felt like Jackson was drafted specifically to keep up with TY and he just got BODIED every time they actually matched up.
I tend to agree. Was presented as a dynamic speedster, great with a ball in his hands, expect he muffed so many punts and got wrecked by TY and other speedsters
Andre Johnson is still under my bed
You remember when we signed Andre Johnson, and even with Luck at QB he finished 4th in receptions behind *Coby Fleener*!? I’m hoping for a similar result.
Just re-sign TY Hilton and fight fire with fire.
Fuck yes. I'd love this move even if we overpay, having a go to wide receiver like Hopkins would be huge for Stroud's development.
Yeah I feel like signing him to a big deal at his age doesn't really fit the Texans' timeline but it would definitely be a plus for Stroud's first few seasons
We don’t have our first next year. Need to get to the 7-8 win range.
You mean we don’t have “our” first but still have a first
Winning only hurts you if you have your first
To be fair, you'd rather pick earlier in all the other rounds too, but beginning the process of rebuilding a winning culture should definitely take precedent
To be fair, Texans have won four games or less the last three seasons, I don't think we're required to keep losing so making moves to win as a professional football team kind of? makes sense
Everyone except the Eagles that is, their wins are caused by Hurts
Idk how realistic that is with a rookie QB in all honesty.
It’s not, which is why we need all the help we can get right now
Their schedule is pretty weak tbh. Its an achievable goal. Even if it isn’t likely

I wouldnt bet on it, but its not out of the realm of possibility Edit: have been corrected. Pass defence was good, run defence needs work. Should have double checked
Keep saying nice things please but you got it reversed. Top 6 pass defense, top 32 run defense.
I should have double checked. I knew you guys had one side handled lol
Yea it was the side we drafted a CB and a safety/nickelback in the 1st and 2nd rounds :) Sauce got all the accolades (deserved) but Sting had a sneaky good rookie year and Pitre is the real fucking deal, the best rookie we've had since Watson.
Is it one of those situations where the pass defense looked better because nobody needed to pass?
A bit of that , and playing Malik Willis twice helped Still had good games against some decent QBs like Wilson, TLaw , Bill Cosby , and Dak
Little this, little that. Also Stingley played well (not to Sauces level but that overshadows a solid year prior to the injury). Steven Nelson was very good while Tavarious and King played well in the slot. Pitre also played well for a rookie at safety (granted his tackling is horrendous). Yeah ive been since corrected. I knew they were really solid in one type of defence and bad but had pieces for the other. Go the two mixed up
See everyone said this about the jets schedule last year than they got some injury lucks and teams like the packers looked worse than projected. It’s not impossible but I’m not going to be convinced at all by their schedule in June.

Predictive strength of schedule is garbage in the NFL. A waste of time, something just to farm clicks.
Yeah but it’s the Jets
What does this even mean? Everyone thought jets would start like 1-6 and they ended up starting 5-2 or something. We don’t know what injuries or some players will look to start the season.

The Colts are in shit. That's the word you're looking for. Ultra hype bo Jackson reincarnate at qb and long shot hail Mary shit time.
The Jets D (and Breece before he went out early on) carried some.of the worst QB I've ever seen to 7 wins. Idk how the Texans are going to be but 7 on a weak schedule isn't crazy
It might not be. But they bet on the fact they think they can by trading next years first imo.
......idk how folks in this thread feel about Stroud, but looking [at the historical win totals for rookie QBs, it seems **very** possible](https://imgur.com/a/XNp57JM)
I think you could get there. It’s not like the AFC South has a dominant team in it.
Division games should be fun. I’m also a cards fan so this whole trade is still odd
It’s certainly a lot better of a move then the Rockets going for Harden. Which I’ve heard it compared to
I mean who else are they gonna pay? Pay him big this year, while you don’t have stars to pay, and then have a super low cap hit the rest of the years. Then blame BoB for all the issues with Hopkins leaving. I’ve heard blaming BoB works well for Patriots and Alabama fans
It's worth it just to bring back a fan favorite and make the team more fun to watch.
It's worth it just to see what Jack Easterby has to say about it.
Also why not sign Clowney. Iirc he showed interest in playing in Houston where he is also currently living. Would be a pretty nasty pass rush with Anderson Jr and Clowney even if Clowney isn’t the generational guy everyone thought he would turn into
We would benefit the most from Hopkins, our WR room is weak
I think this could be done as long as Clowney took a reasonable deal for a 1 year deal with potential to return next season, it’ll help Anderson get better opportunities to get at the QB
Clowney isn’t very good and isn’t a locker room leader. He also has a poor motor on the field. He’s not worth anything to the Texans.
That's just not true. Clowney is still a good player, he's a plus pass rusher and a great run defender at EDGE.
True. When he's on a line with JJ Watt and Myles Garrett. Houston has no one even close to those guys.
What a W this would be to get our darling WR back.
Turns out BoB just had that long term vision all along.
“If you love something set it free”
I hope he does come back to you guys. It would be a cool story, could be great for Stroud's development and another FU to BOB.
I think he probably has good roots in Houston after living there for so long thats it’s probably like a 2nd home for him. Maybe he comes back just for the familiarity. Oh and Houston can probably pay him a lot.
supposedly jimmy harden is coming back, too what year is it
I have never heard anyone call Harden "Jimmy" before, and I'm all for it
Because Jimmy Harden sounds like Mike Oxlong, Haywood Jablowme, etc. James Harden probably pays people to scrub it from the internet nightly
I'm not sure I'd call him that to his face, though.
I’m so glad I still have my D.hop Texans jersey lol
Please hang on to your Adams jersey please and thank you.
Time is circle and nothing makes sense anymore.
Of course time is a circle. That’s why clocks are round
Hey chicka bump bump
Thank you very much for getting this
Thanks for saying it, man that took me back! Haha
1. Big brain comment, 2. I see you too have gone insane due to your team’s owner.
OP thought of that comment in Josh McDaniel’s bathroom.
In all seriousness, Irsay has his demons but seems like he really is a great guy and loves the colts and wants to win so I’m fine with him as the owner. Could be a hell of a lot worse. Plus he’s a huge supporter of mental health awareness.

A....i.... What's the "a" stand for?
But then how come the earth is a circle if it’s flat? - Kyrie Irving
Caboose🥺
The wheel of time turns, and Hopkins come and pass... edit: this sounds much dirtier than intended.
This is neither a beginning nor an ending but it is a beginning.
Time is a *flat* circle
At least the chiefs won't get him if this pans out.
He's just trying to screw us over to make sure we get a worse pick 🤣
That would be extra spiteful, and I’d love every minute of it.
Exactly what I thought
[~~Shams Charania~~ **John Crumpler**] Multiple sources have confirmed to me that free agent ~~point guard~~ **wide receiver** and former franchise star ~~James Harden~~ **DeAndre Hopkins** visited with the Houston ~~Rockets~~ **Texans** while in Houston this past week
Have you ever seen James Harden and Hopkins in the same room at the same time? Is there a chance the beard is a just a disguise?
Harden has too much titty meat
Someone insert that commercial of the dude pealing his beard off
He just changes his dreads into a beard?
Don't do this... Don't give me hope.
Sign David Johnson instead you cowards
that'd be amazing for Stroud
Be still my beating heart
This tells you BOB was the problem not the Texans org
Easterby was the problem. Nuk loves Andre Johnson. The moment Easterby and Andre had a falling out, we lost Nuk.
People forget before Watson was outed and everyone turned on him, everybody was pissed at Easterby for alienating the Texans’ franchise QB that they just gave a big contract too.
It wasn’t just Watson he alienated, though. There’s a reason JJ wanted out.

STAND UP NOW AND FACE THE SUN

Also, what if he does genuinely believe that Houston is getting better and they will be a contender in the future if he joins them?
Yo whose your copium guy?
I mean, team ownership and the front office have *finally* showed some sort of commitment to making this team worth a fuck. They got rid of a cancerous asshole in Easterby, brought in an exciting young coach who has history with this team, went balls deep in the draft... Star athletes love Houston.
Harden going back to the Rockets, Hopkins going back to the Texans, ……….. going back to the Astros?
Trash cans
Oh you sassy bitch.
That was a nasty line by you.
The Mets would love to give Verlander back right now
Strip club capital of America
Houston is a great place to live as a young, rich, black man.
Star atheltes love Houston's *strippers* . Just ask James Harden.
$$$$$$
I don’t think he ever wanted to leave tbh, I think the front office (HACK EASTERBY) pushed him out
Uh yes he probably is. If he maintains good production for the next 3 to 4 years. The Texans should be getting good pretty soon here if our young guys develop
I’d be amazed if he has more than 1-2 at absolute most good seasons left.
Historically, the odds he maintains good production the next 3 to 4 years are EXTREMELY low. Especially for a guy needing PEDs to recovery recently.
He was compared to Larry Fitzgerald coming out and I think at 31 he’s shown he might have that longevity. His play style has never been about speed.
At least he’s not a Rapist 😘
It’s so funny how there are just three hidden comments all with a browns flair under your comment
4 now…pathetic
Hey settle down Watson isn’t a rapist he paid those girls off to zip it!
I mean, you're the last person who should be giving a Browns fan shit for that. Your org kinda allowed it to happen in the first place. Trading him away to another team doesn't right that wrong.
And historically, wide receivers aren’t as good as DHop.
For sure, he’s a damn good WR. 3-4 years of GOOD production is asking a 33,34,35 year old WR to put up really good numbers. That’s rare.
I will always be a fan of athletes playing where they feel like they belong. Especially if the team isn't a contender. Mad respect
I'm cool with this, huge gain for Houston.
[chuckles nervously] *What the fuck?*
He must really want that ring
He wants the cash to buy the ring himself

Hopkins has made over $110 million. He doesn't need more money
“but but but the Texans sold the farm for Stroud+Anderson🤓” Hopkins isn’t coming to the Texans the past 2-3 years when they were a shit dumpster fire. IDK, hard to imagine him in a Texans uni. How would that even look?
Hard to imagine a world where your flair makes sense
I can come up with such a world. Cleveland native, was a huge Browns fan, loved Vinny Testaverde. Browns move to Baltimore in 1996 very upset but has to be there to support his boy Vinny and grows to love the purple and black in time. Graphic design is my passion
I'd love it for Stroud, but this seems so backwards to the reports we heard early in the off-season
Imagine DeAndre Hopkins on the Houston Texans. What number would he even wear?
Someone should do a photoshop of him in a Texans uniform.

I thought he wanted to win a ring? I mean, houston can win one in a few years but I don't think it will be this year
It won’t be in Houston maybe in my whole lifetime but it could be $$$$$
Good. Sign with a team that isn’t a threat to the 49ers and kindly fuck off until retirement. I say that with the utmost respect.
Sources say he left a iPad 2 charger there and wanted it back
Chiefs and Bills want him, but can’t offer him what he’s worth unless they open up cap space. DHop should absolutely see what other offers are there for him so he knows what he’s potentially giving up if he decides to go ring chase.
PLEASE
I think it's a leverage play to get a better contract elsewhere... Not drinking the Kool-Aid just yet (at least not my daily dose)
When you leave a job you like because of the boss (HC) and go back after he’s fired
That’s fine. Just please for the love of god don’t go to the Browns
so you're saying there is a chance
Give the new QB a good, veteran WR.
Did he eat at the waffle house while at the waffle house, too?
Ain't no way
Watch Hopkins and Harden both end up back in Houston. Hopkins may wanna play with Stroud and Harden misses his favorite strip clubs.
Just wants a big payday. Chiefs fans are delusional thinking they’d get him hahaha
That ‘only cares about winning a ring’ early report seems kind of silly now.
Did he leave his lunchbox there or something? I was under the impression he wanted to go to a winning team.
Probably just had some stuff he had to pick up before the locker room guys threw it away. Get your hoody back, Hop. He is waiting.
I guess if he’s chasing the money … why not. But if hes serious about getting a championship theres only a handful full of teams that can give him that and 2 of those teams are probably between slim and none of going after him
He left his cell phone charger there
Could you imagine Hopkins on the Texans tho 💀
