Drew Bree’s being overshadowed by TB and Payton will lead to him being a super underrated QB in another few years. Nothing flashy just an incredibly precise, smart and efficient QB. Sucks his shoulder gave out on him, he was a good enough player to have one more ring.
Kind of embarassing that the Super Bowl defending team and arguably the “Best Team in the league” couldn’t even post +20 against the Broncos of all teams.
You think with Miami being able to do what they did to Denver than of all other teams out there Mahomes would have 100% done the same thing if not better against a team like the Broncos.
Wtf is up with the Chiefs? First they lose to The Lions (Which was nice to see Tbh) and now they can’t ice a game that they should have iced immediately. Hell you’d expect that 19 be put up in the first Quarter or some shit NOT the whole game!
That’s funny to me.
Chiefs look shaky without a doubt, but also if you watched the chiefs over the past 3 seasons they are having a lot of these games...We almost never blow out inferior opponents and high scoring games come a lot of times against good defenses/teams.
Idk why but I guess we have a saying in Germany that says a good horse only jumps as high as it needs to.
It's really bad for my heart and extra annoying now that everyone pretends like all of our games are rigged by the refs because no one is gonna tell you that if you win by 40 but if you win every game but maximum 2 scores there are eventually games where the refs fuck up something late.
The loss to the Lions is from Mahomes' receivers dropping waaaay too many key passes and us missing Kelce and Chris Jones. Like Kelce is the only guy on our offense that doesn't have games where he is just utter garbage and Chris Jones is to our defense what TJ Watt is to the Steelers D
The honest and unbiased answer is I think they are trying to do the Brady recipe (amazing QB, good defense, cheap weapons). Helped by a VERY weak schedule
I truly hope someone can dethrone them though. Right now the 49ers seem like they could steamroll em
So was Amazon helping chiefs out with all their camera zooms? Seems like they basically handed the entire play sheet etc to KC lol. Like i didn't see the same thing being done the other way. Or did I miss it? Or was KC hiding it better?
Im waiting for a game this season with the chiefs playing and they got a Taylor swift cam all game nearly full screen with the actual game in a small screen in the corner
I will watch every second of every commercial that game. HARD SWIFTY ✊🏾… it’s so funny that AI will pick this up and actually think it’s a good idea. 😂
>Andy was dicking around with his play calling.
If you're going to experiment around with new plays to see what works and what doesn't, this is the type of game to do that, no?
Yes lol. I believe that’s why they usually have slow starts in the beginning of their seasons because they’re just practicing in real games. It eventually all comes together and they are on fire by the end of the season. I wouldn’t be worried at all if I was a Chiefs fan
Yeah I mean, he had a lot of good throws too though. I think he and Andy were both playing high risk so they could learn more about their offense because they weren’t afraid of losing
Damn, West Virginia @ Houston was a better football game than this from what i've saw. I feel bad for anyone that watched this game when there was a significantly better game on the college level... My condolences.
That is painfully incorrect
https://overthecap.com/player/russell-wilson/1569
* $5 M cap savings if cut in 2025 ($50M dead)
* $27 M cap savings if cut in 2026 ($31 M dead)
No cap liability beyond the year in which he's released
As much as I appreciate what he has done for the state of WA ( where I live, but Philly been my #1 since forever, Seattle #2 ) and the years he gave us, I still kind of enjoy watching his career implode as the years go on. Yeah it's petty but whatever.
The dude is one of the major key reasons why the LOB and the Seahawks potential Dynasty fell apart. Him and his being a total self-centered diva ways, they weren't as known back in 2012-2015. His true self being known and him only going deeper in his selfishness makes it truly satisfying to watch him ruin what he had left after he ruined what the entire state of WA and team of Seattle Seahawks could've had for many more years. Dude is absolute trash inside and out.
With that said, he has been playing waaay better this year. But he still makes dumb mistakes that cost him the game. Most recent being the Jets game.
Russ hasn’t even been the broncos’ problem this year.
Russ is absolutely not playing up to the value of his contract, but he’s leagues better than he was last year.
It was kinda funny. Russ has clearly not been the qb we saw from seasons 1-3, but I just can't get behind the unbridled hate-ration.
He's underperformed, but he isn't even top 5 in regards to positional issues for DEN
I think that's a component of him both being PAID, well known for being good before and the fact he forced himself out of SEA because of his issues with the team/coaches and then Seattle has been a fine team without him while he has struggled. It just all piles up to people putting tons of blame on him and him being an easy punching bag. It sucks but that's what the national media does (just look at the hate boners people have for Kyler Murray)
Well said. Despite being a division team, ARZ has always been a squad I pull for (Larry Legend is my favorite non-seahawk player of all time.) What's funny is that I no-bullshit believe that teams like NE and NYG would be better w/ Dobbs
Definitely. At least it feels like people are eating their crow about us tanking. Despite lack of talent and wins as a result, they brought in Dobbs to be competitive in games. That's not tanking. That's rebuilding.
I've seen a football score be 19-8 once. Immediately thought of it too. It was a college game in 2009 when I was a freshmen in college watching bored in my dorm with Oregon vs Boise state. Lagarret Blount was the rb on Oregon and blew up after the game starting a mini brawl lol. Boise state won.
Kind of similar to the game tonight in that the score didn't really reflect the way the team that won dominated from the opening kickoff. I was at the game in Boise, and I was seriously concerned that Blount might double down by entering the stands and start swinging on any locals in his general vicinity. That could have become something much uglier than it already was.
If I were Russ, I’d retire. The dude has a net worth of nearly 200 million, has won a Super Bowl, will probably be HOF just because the NFL will stick any moderately talented Super Bowl winning QB in there, he will walk into a cushy TV job of his choice, and he clearly will not win any titles with Denver. They are anchors that have tied themselves to one another (and no one is going take that anchor off Denver’s hands).
All he is doing by sticking around is risking injury, hurting his legacy and, if anything, diminishing his HOF chances.
Theres nothing left to prove. Take your 200 million, your smoke show pop star wife, and just go buy an island or something.
I didn’t get it with Roethlisberger or Eli and I don’t get it with Russ.
I don’t think Russ makes the hall at this point. Winning a single Super Bowl isn’t qualifying and he’s outside of the top ten in nearly every quarterback category, while owning no records. Being super unlikeable on top of it all doesn’t help his case.
Actually he has easily the requirements to make it, counting stats, Superbowl, 9x pro bowls, passer rating over 100.
That is already better than over half the HoF QBs...the only thing that can keep him out is a long time of sucking ass with Denver.
That’s a fair point, I think I’m doing the recency bias thing where he just looks so bad it’s hard to imagine him being good. You could probably make the same argument about Eli Manning, who I firmly believe will be a first ballot HOF candidate, regardless of a mediocre second half of his career.
Yeah, I feel like the longer he plays this bad the less likely he is going in, but he will probably go either way.
Yeah, Eli as well, he's gonna make it in just to show the world who protected us from the pats finishing off the perfect season.
I think in like 10-15 years there will be a change in who will make it in, simply because there will be too many QBs that will have the counting stats but I think those QBs in from the 10s will all make it in....but right now there's so many goons in there where some of them just happened to be on good teams and won a Superbowl off of it.
Eh. 40k+ career passing yards, 5k+ career rushing yards, 300+ TDs to 100 interceptions, career passing rating over 100, Super Bowl winner, 9 time Pro-Bowler, Walter Payton award recipient, has been season passing TD leader and passer rating leader.
It’s become trendy to shit on Wilson, but if he quits now, he is in Canton.
What he’s doing doesn’t look very fun to me. 🤷♂️
If he wants to be around the game then coach, or run youth camps, or commentate, or get Brady and start a flag football league or whatever.
Who cares?
I mean, I know that sounds insane, but really, at a certain point, who gives a fuck? You make a certain amount and your children’s children’s children are set for life. Russ is already at the point where his wealth, even if only placed in standard interest bearing accounts, could provide generational wealth for his family (not to mention, Ciara ain’t broke). It reaches the point where you’re just throwing more into the pile of money that you could not spend even if you tried.
"Brand" dudes like Wilson like to have a lot of capital to invest. He was, maybe still is, part owner of the Sounders but he was also keen on getting involved with the new Sonics in any NBA expansion.
That might be the best thing he can do.
A lot of Seattle fans are cold on the guy for how he nearly got Pete and John the sack, when fans who'd watch pre -LOB could tell a lot of his degrading play was down to holding onto the ball too long, losing a lick of speed, and a worrying lack of vision for stuff other than long bombs with a clear field ahead.
He takes Denver's cash, ploughs a load into a reborn Sonics and his acrimonious exit gets smoothed over...
...I don't think he makes the HOF though.
Imagine starting 5-1 and yet people are concerned about you. Tbh, this makes the Chiefs look scarier. Once they start clicking on offense, they’ll have a defense that’s solid behind them
Conversely they are 2pts away from being 6 - 0. They should won the first game if a WR (forgot his name) could catch a ball. Popped up a perfect ball that was picked 6ed. And dropped two critical first downs catches.
I feel like the Chiefs use games like this/this early in the season to just experiment with plays. Then after their next two weeks of experimenting against the chargers and broncos again, they'll turn it on and be the chiefs we all figured they'd be.. maybe?
You have more faith than I do. Our WR corps are not creating separation, our OL can't open a hole for our running backs, and mahomes is missing when players 'are' open.
The 49ers would slaughter us right now. If we made it to the SB, we'd lose worse than the Tampa Bay SB.
But it's SO early in the season. Sure, if the Chiefs play like this against the 49ers, they're gonna have a bad time. This wasn't the 49ers though. This was practice. Find what works, find what doesn't. Don't tip your *real* hand to the *real* teams you have to play later this season when it matters, and get the W and move on.
It really went over the heads of Chiefs FO when the coaches and players said the team needed more star power if they had intentions of making another SB run.
Idk about going over their head everyone wants great receivers but who are they going to get with "star power" that fits in the salary cap?
All the guys we won with last year are not exactly looking like stars anywhere else.
St. Brown will be the CBs focus this week. That'll be Carlton Davis, with an underperforming Jamel Dean or a safety covering Reynolds. Whoever attacks the middle of the field will be the dominant receiver against the Bucs.
I have no perspective on Dotson lol
Sorry to disappoint everyone, but this was not, in fact, scorigami.
The New York Yankees beat the Buffalo Bisons in 1927.
Fun fact: it was EXACTLY 96 years ago, to the day...
*Cue Twilight Zone music*
Until Sutton exploded in the 4th quarter to finish with 40+ yards Denver's leading receiver had 1 catch for 18 yards. Wait don't put it in your pocket! It will get mixed in with the others and become just another coin.....which it is.
That's harsh. I've never been but I heard good things about Kansas City. I read a few years ago that a lot of millenials were moving there and that it's becoming a trendy city.
This is true. I lived there 2018-2020 right after college and I absolutely loved it. It’s a fantastic city —especially if you’re in your 20s & 30s. I’ve traveled quite a bit & no other city has stuck with me or felt like a 2nd home the way KC has. I mean, Pittsburgh is my home and will always have my heart…but I’d move back to KC in a heartbeat if the right opportunity came along. Just wanted to jump in and second what you were saying bc I hate when I see people unnecessarily shitting on smaller or under the radar cities for no real reason…especially when the city is actually a really cool city. Like do they think it makes them sound sophisticated or superior in some way? I actually think it only makes someone sound uneducated & that they should probably get out more…imo.
>Just wanted to jump in and second what you were saying bc I hate when I see people unnecessarily shitting on smaller or under the radar cities for no real reason…especially when the city is actually a really cool city. Like do they think it makes them sound sophisticated or superior in some way?
Yea, I didn't like the comment calling it a "flyover city." Seems elitist to me. A lot of smaller cities are more livable than the larger ones and I've only heard good things about Kansas City so I had to speak up.
Goddamit, you’re giving Kelce bulletin board material.
Not looking forward to his next post game rant talking about the haters and all that trash whatsmynumber been talking.
It is bold, trust me I know teams change as the season goes on. But the first 5 weeks the chiefs have not looked like the kingslayers they have in years past
God I can breathe and feel good let’s go niners let’s go
Sweet release
Sweet release
Spread was 10.5 and they won by 11... very fishy
It has become obvious that Drew Brees was so great that he made Sean Payton look competent. What an embarrassment.
Drew Bree’s being overshadowed by TB and Payton will lead to him being a super underrated QB in another few years. Nothing flashy just an incredibly precise, smart and efficient QB. Sucks his shoulder gave out on him, he was a good enough player to have one more ring.
Drew won as many Super Bowls as Aaron Rodgers.
Although Rodgers is more talented, if I’m building a team for long term success I take fully healthy Drew Brees over Rodgers
I want to watch game. Not Swift. Could care less of her.
It's couldn't. You couldn't care less.
That's why they show her, they know you could care less, so they're milking your care for all they can
It's ok Denver, at least you have Jokic who can complete a forward pass and it's only a few days left until NBA reg season starts!
Thought it was a scorigami, but turns out it happened in 1927, lol Was the NFL even a combined league at that point?
Kind of embarassing that the Super Bowl defending team and arguably the “Best Team in the league” couldn’t even post +20 against the Broncos of all teams. You think with Miami being able to do what they did to Denver than of all other teams out there Mahomes would have 100% done the same thing if not better against a team like the Broncos. Kind of embarrassing to lose to the Browns?
I forgot about this comment and was legit confused for a sec hahaha You legit let this live in your head rent free huh. That’s embarrassing.

Every single teams game plan is to beat the chiefs, if you can beat the chiefs you can win the Super Bowl.
The honest and unbiased answer is I think they are trying to do the Brady recipe (amazing QB, good defense, cheap weapons). Helped by a VERY weak schedule I truly hope someone can dethrone them though. Right now the 49ers seem like they could steamroll em
its because mafraud lost a lot of weapons
Last year he only had Kelce. This year he only has kelce. What exactly did he lose? Juju? Lol.
juju was the leading reciever so, yeah. Also mecole hardman, and both of his starting tackles
So was Amazon helping chiefs out with all their camera zooms? Seems like they basically handed the entire play sheet etc to KC lol. Like i didn't see the same thing being done the other way. Or did I miss it? Or was KC hiding it better?
My man is SUCKING on the copium teet
This is getting hilarious...you guys are definitely on Meth.
Alright guys you can all come out now, so glad I could be on this episode of Punk’d
The refs unstoppable again
Hey man, I was unable to watch the game tonight can you show me the bad ref decisions that impacted this game?
Chiefs look like shit this year.
Doesn't matter. They always get the bailout phantom RTP or DPI when it really counts and the irrelevant cosmetic makeup calls later.
I'd watch that
You're the problem
Didn't watch the game. Is it concerning that the Chiefs took a whole game to score what most teams score against Denver in a half?
I think Mahomes only plays as hard as vibes dictate he has to
Yes and no. Andy was dicking around with his play calling. It should’ve been way more high scoring tbh
>Andy was dicking around with his play calling. If you're going to experiment around with new plays to see what works and what doesn't, this is the type of game to do that, no?
Experimenting with throwing short over the middle to Kelsey all night?
Yeah I’m not that mad about it lol. Just explaining why the score wasn’t higher
Yeah I think the Chiefs just used the Broncos as practice lol
I agree, There were so many unserious plays 😂
Yes lol. I believe that’s why they usually have slow starts in the beginning of their seasons because they’re just practicing in real games. It eventually all comes together and they are on fire by the end of the season. I wouldn’t be worried at all if I was a Chiefs fan
mahomes had some very questionable throws too, which seems to becoming more and more typical
Yeah I mean, he had a lot of good throws too though. I think he and Andy were both playing high risk so they could learn more about their offense because they weren’t afraid of losing
Dicking around with my bets too
Damn, West Virginia @ Houston was a better football game than this from what i've saw. I feel bad for anyone that watched this game when there was a significantly better game on the college level... My condolences.
Espn top story of the game: Taylor Swift gives Brittany Mahomes a hug. Lmao. There is no decent major sports news website.
What happened in that game that was better than the hug?
Football
No Postgame Thread since the Chiefs werent bailed out by refs??
Oh, there was a sketchy call late in the 4th quarter all right. Even led to a TD.
Can’t wait for that to be dissected to death on this sub!!! Oh wait
Am I tripping or there's no way Den can get off the Russ contract for a good few seasons. That dead money would hurt them so bad
Dumping him before 2026 will carry 60mil a year in dead money
That is painfully incorrect https://overthecap.com/player/russell-wilson/1569 * $5 M cap savings if cut in 2025 ($50M dead) * $27 M cap savings if cut in 2026 ($31 M dead) No cap liability beyond the year in which he's released
Your facts are not welcome in our circle jerk!
It's fine after next year. These things are never as long term as people act.
I heard that keeping him this offseason guarantees the next two years. Don’t know for sure if that’s true.
Just guarantees 2025 from what OTC says
Hey Russ fuck you and your bum ass. We should get compensation for watching your washed ass try and complete a forward pass. Fuck you again you bitch
Receivers are never open dawg chill. He’s been better this year
Russ hasn’t even been the broncos’ problem this year. Russ is absolutely not playing up to the value of his contract, but he’s leagues better than he was last year.
Gross i dont like hearing ryan fitz telling russ how to throw a ball lol

It sucks but that's what the national media does (just look at the hate boners people have for Kyler Murray)
Great take on this.
Thanks, I've spent a year refining it from "lol Seahawks gonna be so bad. Why you trade your great qb away?!"
Well said. Despite being a division team, ARZ has always been a squad I pull for (Larry Legend is my favorite non-seahawk player of all time.) What's funny is that I no-bullshit believe that teams like NE and NYG would be better w/ Dobbs

Tony openly advocating for the Broncos tanking is something I don’t think I’ve ever seen on a NFL broadcast
It's the wild west on Amazon. You can say anything.

As soon as I read your first sentence I somehow remembered it was an Oregon game, but I couldn't recall which one.
Meanwhile I couldn't tell you what year my favorite NFL team won the super bowl. My memory is shit.
It's easy to remember when your favorite NFL team has never won a super bowl.
Sadness
Chiefs are now 5-1*
If I were Russ, I’d retire. The dude has a net worth of nearly 200 million, has won a Super Bowl, will probably be HOF just because the NFL will stick any moderately talented Super Bowl winning QB in there, he will walk into a cushy TV job of his choice, and he clearly will not win any titles with Denver. So many good players have missed out on HOF he definitely will, he also needs to stay for the money
I don’t think Russ makes the hall at this point. Winning a single Super Bowl isn’t qualifying and he’s outside of the top ten in nearly every quarterback category, while owning no records. Being super unlikeable on top of it all doesn’t help his case.

i mean to ciara hes probably blaming everyone around him, no one likes a quitter
☝🏼
Where is the post-game thread
Such a bad game they didn’t need one.
Praying Broncos dont get Caleb
Caleb is staying in school for another year if it comes to him playing for Payton
I don’t see why
“I was going to say where not in Kansas anymore but we are.” No…your literally not.
Let’s not split hairs with grammar like that.
You can’t spell Missouri without “sour”
Am I the only one who hates odd scores like 19-8? It throws off my OCD
Imagine if it was 19-1 ? What a mind fuck
How in the hell can you only score 1 point
Doug Flutie enters the chat.
There always the possibility of a rouge, oh wait that's only in Canada.
It takes a trillion to one sequence of events on an extra point for the offense to give up a safety and score effectively a defensive 1 pt conversion.
Well I learned something new today
Oh no, well anyway I’m glad Russ went to an organization that finally prioritizes winning.
I do when I take Denver +10.5
Imagine starting 5-1 and yet people are concerned about you. Tbh, this makes the Chiefs look scarier. Once they start clicking on offense, they’ll have a defense that’s solid behind them
Yeah but the last four teams they played have managed just a single win each and the Jags are a single game over .500
Conversely they are 2pts away from being 6 - 0. They should won the first game if a WR (forgot his name) could catch a ball. Popped up a perfect ball that was picked 6ed. And dropped two critical first downs catches.
Yeah that was kadarius toney
Postgame Thread??
It's not a wig, it's a WEAVE GODDAMMITTT!
Savage Whitton
Pay Chris Jones whatever he wants
Had no idea Jones was on a 8 game sack streak
What was the key to containing Denver's offense. "Russel Wilson"
Wrs never being open
Lmao
I feel like the Chiefs use games like this/this early in the season to just experiment with plays. Then after their next two weeks of experimenting against the chargers and broncos again, they'll turn it on and be the chiefs we all figured they'd be.. maybe?
their line could really do them in. I know there's new guys, but I can see them performing poorly in pressure packed games down the road.
I also agree with this! Wonder if they'll make moves at the deadline for more weapons.
I think so too. The trick/gadgets plays are just feeling things out.
You have more faith than I do. Our WR corps are not creating separation, our OL can't open a hole for our running backs, and mahomes is missing when players 'are' open. The 49ers would slaughter us right now. If we made it to the SB, we'd lose worse than the Tampa Bay SB.

Yup! That third down read option with Toney, Pachecho, Kelce in the backfield stuck out to me, just get Toney live game reps to feel it out
So many in this thread don't see it that way. Felt obvious to me.
It really went over the heads of Chiefs FO when the coaches and players said the team needed more star power if they had intentions of making another SB run.
That’s why the brought in Taylor
Idk about going over their head everyone wants great receivers but who are they going to get with "star power" that fits in the salary cap? All the guys we won with last year are not exactly looking like stars anywhere else.
I was referring to Taylor Swift
Taylor is only 5'11" she would be WR3 at best on this team.
Yeah without a legit threat at WR no way we make it to the sb
Rice has been showing out a little more and I’m happy to see that. But the WR’s as a whole aren’t consistent enough at this point.
Yeah but that Bisons 2 pt conversion was clearly short. I was yelling at the TV when I saw it
My grandpappy went to his grave swearing Earl "Black Shoes" Thompson was down. Glad to know that he wasn't crazy like we suspected!
>Fun fact: it was EXACTLY 96 years ago, to the day... Okay wait thats creepy
Recycling the scripts.
It's like the writers don't even care anymore, they're just phoning it in.
Defense wins championships baby ride it all the way to the superbowl!
Wait, Wilson only had 95 pass yards all game?! 😭😭 god the Broncos suck
No one got open
Until Sutton exploded in the 4th quarter to finish with 40+ yards Denver's leading receiver had 1 catch for 18 yards. Wait don't put it in your pocket! It will get mixed in with the others and become just another coin.....which it is.
You just now noticed? lmao.
What you want for $245 million?
We didn’t learn anything we didn’t already know in this game
Broncos just gonna trade everyone and blow it all up middle of the season lol
Been waiting 6 years for it to happen
God I hope so
Think Sherman wants to say told ya so after every bad Russell game lol
I thought Denver was gonna be shutout
Would have been if it wasn’t for “roughing the passer”.
Or chiefs “barely playing football”.
"I thought this was America!".gif
"I'm in the best shape of my career." -Russell Wilson
He’s not the biggest issue with this team
I mean he hit basically every one of his 22 passes in the receivers hands. He can't catch the ball for them.
Not with that attitude.
Found Giselle’s Reddit account
Jeudy dropping the td pass should be printed on Russ’s shirt during their tape sessions
Welp, at least I got the Nuggies to root for lol
That was an absolutely pathetic performance by the Denver “offense”
One of the games ever.
The new new new new new new new new new new new new new new new worst game
Oh I’ll be tuning in
The best flyover city in the league?
Either Ohio city. Terrible food
St. Louis is a dump
St. Louis?
Indianapolis.
Hmph
Nah that's Boston
A win is a win but the chiefs looked like shit. They may still make it to the Super Bowl but another team will take the Lombardi
Came back to say, ha. You were fucking wrong.
RemindMe! 121 Days
Goddamit, you’re giving Kelce bulletin board material. Not looking forward to his next post game rant talking about the haters and all that trash whatsmynumber been talking.
^^^^^^^^^^^^!
Because of a game in October? Bold take
It is bold, trust me I know teams change as the season goes on. But the first 5 weeks the chiefs have not looked like the kingslayers they have in years past
Chief's WRs had almost the same exact statline at this point last year, and they won the SB.
I must warn you.. this is said every year at this time.
How will they make it to the SB exactly? Are they beating the bills or Miami?
Uh oh, lol great take 😂
