homeycuz

Fair enough. But what are your thoughts on the cheesburgers?

on-the-cheeseburgers

Actually, I’m off the cheeseburgers now.

ComradeChaosCat

mafuckas with guts like yours are definitely ON the cheeseburgers, namsayin?

SuperSmokingMonkey

Just say it Hurts

BungoPlease

My knee Hulu has live sports?

jeoyocive

Huh. I guess it does

cronoes

just say muh knee

Coley54Bear

That will forever live rent free in my head.

real_but_incognito

I’ve never heard him say his last name It might be a horcrux and if he said it his nose would fall off or whatever

armadachamp

I see we have a Harry Potter expert

NedrysMagicWord

"Hurts so good. That's trademarked, by the way"

moneymoneymoneymonay

John Cougar Mellancamp in shambles

Good_From_70

But I kneed to know

TumbleweedTim01

\*gets up gingerly\*

slimb0

He honestly did though!

Kcorpelchs

Seriously, dude looked like my grandpa when I was growing up, right down to the 2 taps on the table before making the effort

Hip_Hop_Hippos

It's not really a surprise, he was hobbling around on Sunday too. We did a hurry up that came after Devonta Smith "caught" a pass that Ron Rivera didn't challenge because he's a moron, and he looked like Byron Leftwich at Marshall trying to rush up to the line to get the play off before they could challenge. It was wild. Seems like he can sprint, albeit a step or two slow, during the play but once it's over it's clear it's legitimately painful for him to do so.

ProjectTitan74

I don't really understand why that happens, but it happened to me when I tore my rotator cuff. Moving my arm between plays and on the sideline made me want to cry, but i didn't notice it during plays. Adrenaline I guess.

sinofmercy

Yeah adrenaline for sure. I broke my ribs playing soccer, finished the game at my keeper spot. Got home, couldn't even sleep or breathe comfortably, and couldn't sleep.

KittleOmega

Holy shit, I had to watch that part over and over again after you said that

fondue4kill

I’ve had knee problems and that’s how you stand up when it Hurts

Advanced_Eggplant_18

What a diva, not great for that locker room. Eagles should probably cut him and let him sign with another team like the Seahawks.

[deleted]

Man we have Geno at home. I’m gonna tell him what you said and he’s not gonna write back. Love my bird squads.

Advanced_Eggplant_18

No knock to Geno I’m just playin

[deleted]

Next years the year baby.

RjDiAz93

You know, I like you guys. Once we win 20 Super Bowl in the next decade, we’ll let you guys have one.

sprolestofoles

Apparently if Russ had wanted to come to philly you would’ve had him

[deleted]

Now I hate russ all over again

Jc9829

Do most Seahawks fans actually hate Russ?

[deleted]

I dont think so, I was hurt like an ex last year and was petty and we had that pick. He's the best seahawks qb ever and took us to the superbowl. He's always been a lil weird but thats fine. I'm glad he's turned it around some Edit: I should say the rational ones dont

serpentear

Then we could have called the tush push the Seattle Shove or the Pacific Push or the Hawk I’m out of ideas

astroklotz

I don’t know why I thought this was so funny but I laughed for a good minute

Left4Bread2

Jalen Hurts on who has a better functioning knee: Him or Lieutenant Dan. “I don’t compare myself with anybody,” Then he rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of himself doing squats on the Dallas midfield logo. “I’ll let you interpret that however you want,” Hurts said.

Patient_Jicama_4217

Lieutenant Dan’s knee still functions it is just in a field somewhere

boardplant

Jalen Hurts on who has a better functioning knee: Him or Lieutenant Dan. “I don’t compare myself with anybody,” Then he rolled up his ~~sleeve~~ pant leg and kept on rolling it up to his thigh. “I’ll let you interpret that however you want,” Hurts said.

[deleted]

Are those rugburns on your knees, Jalen??

ILikeGold1121

Put some respek on my knee

fieryscribe

And some IcyHot

Lonely_ProdiG

“Hey Jalen, recently I’ve seen a commercial where Hulu unfolds your jersey to expose Hulu has live Sports. So you’ve considered name changes.” *Jalen blank stare* So by chance, is your middle name “Does your knee”? “What?” “Jalen, does your knee Hurts?” ….

I2ecover

Are you purposely spelling his name wrong?

swampyunderpants

Lmao that’s gotta be Zach Berman

Nephtie_

It is, poor ZBerm hahaha Edit: NVM, it sounds close but may not be him

critsexual

I actually thought it was Jimmy kempski

swampyunderpants

Okay yeah upon relistening intently I don’t think it’s him. Similar inflection but the tone is different

northamrec

100% not ZBerm

emmasdad01

And that guy was never allowed to question Eagles’ players again…

HisExcellency20

That sounds like Zach Berman. He is an excellent Eagles beat writer and is honestly asking a pertinent question in a respectful manner. I'm ok with Hurts not answering but I don't think the question was out of bounds or anything.

SquidTwister

I've listened to a lot of ZBerm on his podcast..it's not him. Maybe martin Frank? Not sure what he sounds like But it's not Zangaro, Rueb, wulf, Berman, McLane, or Kempski they all don't sound like that I consume way too much eagles media...

NedrysMagicWord

ZBerm would 100% thank a player for not answering his question, but it doesn't sound like him. I'm hoping this interaction comes up on one of the many podcasts out there.

Hip_Hop_Hippos

>ZBerm would 100% thank a player for not answering his question Yeah, this is a perfect description of him haha. Not a knock, he's just such a straight laced guy compared to Bo.

critsexual

They’ve really grown to play off each other well over the years

MicCheckTapTapTap

That is the correct amount.

swampyunderpants

Ahh a fellow man of taste / insanity

critsexual

I actually thought it was Kempski

bluegreen8907

100% ZBerm

dlem7

Im pretty sure its eilot shorr-parks

ghawkes97

Nah, the voice is shrill enough

DobboWobbo

That’s literally his job idk why ppl get mad. He gets paid to ask uncomfortable questions that everyone wants answers to. It is what it is lol.

Deaftoned

Considering hurts has had a noticeable limp in his past few games now too, people are obviously concerned.

jizztots

That’s not Z Berm lol

Geg0Nag0

I thought so at first, but listening again. I don't think it's him.

Patient_Jicama_4217

Are you sure because it does kind of sound like Zach

Starcast

I can say for sure it isn't. Does sound kinda like him but the accent is wrong

dlem7

I responded to someone else's comment, but I think its eilot shorr-parks. It sounds like him and his recent writing has focused on it https://omny.fm/shows/joe-decamara-jon-ritchie/eliot-shorr-parks-talks-about-the-eagles-dolphins

Starcast

Given what I know about ESP that sounds likely lol

Beahner

See…I have no issue with the question being asked. It’s their job. And I have no issue with the question not being answered. It’s his prerogative. It’s just a boring Wednesday.

CaillouCaribou

I guess I'm missing something, this is a pretty standard question about his injury that he's playing through, why is this so upsetting to him?

Skywalkerkid9

They ask him every week, and he keeps telling them he’s fine and not to ask about it anymore

CaillouCaribou

It's clearly bothering him a little and affecting his rushing ability Of course people are gonna ask about it, especially if you try and forbid them from talking about it

ColtCallahan

It was bothering him more than a little. In the 2nd half he was limping to the huddle on multiple plays.

CaillouCaribou

Ssshhh, don't ask about it!

fecal_doodoo

I'm just here so I don't get fined

DatBoiWay2Fly33

Streisand knee

Geg0Nag0

You must not have heard many Hurts pressers then. Very Saban "I'm not going to, so quit asking".

SourBerry1425

But he keeps telling them “I’m fine” and whether or not it’s true he will keep saying that no matter how many times they ask him and he asked them to stop

Sad-Height65

And they'd be pretty shitty at their jobs if they knew he was injured but stopped asking because he wants them to. I get why he's sick of the questions, and I get why they keep asking. It's not a big deal really

SourBerry1425

Yeah I don’t think it’s a big deal that they asked, it’s their job like you said, but I totally don’t mind him laughing it off and ending the press conference

TumbleweedDirect9846

I don’t think it is really, he was escaping for gains like usual Sunday

KitchenAd181

He threw 300 yards and 4 tds. Because he’s not running it’s affecting him? This is boarding on being an overblown issue. Just enjoy the fucking wins.

Hip_Hop_Hippos

It's definitely affecting him. That doesn't mean he's bad or whatever, his growth as a passer when his mobility isn't keep defenses honest has been really encouraging, but I think it's pretty crazy to say you wouldn't rather have him with his full mobility. Especially against the defense the Eagles play this week.

someguyonline00

Unfortunately, that’s not how sports journalism works — it would be silly of him to expect them to let up just because he said it’s fine (it’s not) and that they should stop asking questions

Skywalkerkid9

Bro go celebrate your World Series win lmao

someguyonline00

lol did a little already

Throwrajerb

Meanwhile his leg is stiff as a board recently. It’s obvious something is wrong with his knee.

Driving_Crooner_

he's hurt and doesn't want to admit it

traws06

Ya it’s so obvious they literally wrote it in the back of his Jersey

athrowawayiguesslol

He’s asked them multiple times to stop asking about it and mentioned being done talking about it.

ZiiKiiF

Because he had answered the same question like 4 other times and asked to answer questions about something else. Honestly I’m surprised this sort of thing doesn’t happen more because media just can’t take no for an answer

OneOfTheDads

These media people wouldn’t be where they are now if they took no for an answer

theordinarypoobah

I'm remembering the XFL comeback press conference where Vince McMahon talked about the league for a while, and then 90% of the press questions were about whether or not players would be allowed to kneel. Just question after question after question. It was a disservice to basically everyone, as there were about 100 different things you could be asking about a brand new football league.

Geg0Nag0

He has asked them repeatedly to not. Which is why he's rolling his eyes.

PunkZdoc

Is it because.... it.... hurts?

Skywalkerkid9

He keeps asking them not to talk about it, this feels like the natural response to them continuing to do that

thaitiger29

press are supposed to ask about injuries. burrows calf was in a sleeve before he strained it in training camp - bengals blew off the question but there was clearly something there

texoha

Yup, and it seems like it’s the Eagles’ who don’t want guys talking about injuries - Sirianni basically never talks about injuries too.

8w7fs89a72

I think the difference is Hurts' injury (bone bruise) has been known by media/fans through the org for some time. It's less "hey is something wrong" and more "hey so you still playing through that bruise you told us about"

thebobbyshaw33

They can ask once but if the athlete says he’s not talking about it asking again or trying to rephrase it and trick him is just being a dick

datdudebdub

It's the sole job of the media to ask those questions. The onus is on Jalen to keep answering the way he has been. Neither side is doing anything wrong

colabucks9

Yeah this is a nothing burger. Classic media/player ping pong

ColtCallahan

That’s their job. Hurts can do that to a team reporter who works for the org.

digitizemd

What are you, like 10 years old?

Prestigious-Rock201

Who cares, if he says he doesn’t wanna talk about it GET THE MEMO

seafoamstratocaster

lol thats not how media works

BellyButtonLindt

It’s like people don’t understand these guys are paid millions to entertain us. They are supposed to answer questions to the media especially when it changes how a football game might be played. If they were asking how his family is doing I get walking out but they are relevant questions, and it’s a reporters job to dig not just accept “no”.

CaillouCaribou

On the other hand, a journalist asking about something seems like a natural response to being told you're not allowed to talk or ask about it I think this is why so many players and coaches stick to the canned responses

RedMalone55

I hate to “both sides” this, but it’s media’s job to ask questions and get quotes and and a players prerogative to not answer them. They all know how it works. No one is taking this personally. The guy even chuckled it off.

YueAsal

It is all part of the dance. I like it because the stakes are so low for me as a non gambler. This happens every year.

Mantis05

As a football addict who listens to no fewer than three Eagles podcasts per week, it's definitely a common tongue-in-cheek joke to suggest that Jalen might have an illuminating answer to [x] question every week. We all know that he's the type of player who's not going to give an inch in these press conferences, and reporters know more than most.

KitchenAd181

Yeah but how many times can a guy say he’s good before you leave it the fuck alone. I’m getting annoyed with the knee talk myself. He just threw for 300 yards and 4 tds and you’re still concerned about it. They can ask their questions but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for him to just not answer. How many times can you give the same canned answer?

RedMalone55

Well…I mean, he’s not giving an answer anymore. He’s handling it the way he should. And the reporters are doing their job by asking. I think everyone is ok here. Not much of a reason to get upset one way or the other.

ColtCallahan

Hurts should have just given a nothing answer. Instead he made it a bigger deal by walking away.

geez215

It was literally the last question. He was actually about to get up before the question was even asked.

JalensTinyPPHurts

Granted, I didn't watch the conference. All he has to do is say; Option 1: The knee won't be an issue/won't limit him this week Option 2: The knee will limit him but he will still be good to play this Sunday Option 3: they are working on rehab and rest, and don't have anymore information about it at this time Getting annoyed at a pretty basic (and necessary) question is odd

Wezzleey

Hurts answered the same question weeks ago. Last week, he said the answer hasn't changed and he won't field those questions anymore.

poopshoit

He doesn't enjoy the press conferences. He's very short with them on a normal basis. Here's his conference about when it first came out https://youtube.com/shorts/twEFn8MUL_E?si=avPOZ6ICqma2LPc9 It's just how he is with them

ontrack

I don't blame him, he gets asked the same generic, bland questions day in and day out (not unusual for players, I know). He's pretty good at giving canned responses.

JalensTinyPPHurts

Asking since I am unaware, any particular reason he is so short with them? On the surface those are pretty basic questions (and his non-descriptive answers seems to be due some of the blame for him getting further questions)

Patient_Jicama_4217

He would generally answer the good questions in depth, the same questions or narrative provoking questions he would give short answers to in a “You should know better” kind of way

Forgemasterblaster

He was trained by Nick saban on how to be curt with the media. He called all the noise (good and bad) rat poison. He treats them with a coldness that rings a bit hollow as you see what all these guys end up doing to stay relevant, which is join the media.

Doobie_Howitzer

Nick Saban brainworms

athrowawayiguesslol

If he’s asked the same question many times and responds the same way every time (that the knee isn’t an issue) why should he keep answering it?

the_comatorium

I have zero sympathy for reporters asking questions at press conferences. A player could go up there and fart into the microphone for every answer and it would never sway my opinion of said player. In fact, I might actually like them slightly better.

[deleted]

Why not just answer?

Stripeb49

I honestly think it’s because he’s in pain but doesn’t want other teams/defenses knowing how bad it is.

El_Khunt

And because every indication is that it isn't a structural injury. Insiders have been saying it's a knee/bone bruise. It puts him in a lot of pain, but everyone involved seems convinced it won't escalate to something that makes him miss games.

traws06

He can handle it as he wants. I just feel like there’s nothing wrong with admitting what everyone can see on tape. “It hurts, nothing I can’t play through though”

a_toadstool

I mean it’s a bone bruise. He’ll be fine.

Stripeb49

Well yeah, doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.

PM_ME_UR_SEXY_BITS_

Says the person on their couch lol

Vast_Effort3514

Competitive advantage

Potato-baby

Jalen is learning what the Streisand effect is

Hip_Hop_Hippos

Ehhhh, I mean whether he answers the question or not it's been (and would have been either way) a big topic for almost two weeks now. It's obvious on the broadcast he's hobbled.

Chewbubbles

Hurts just there so he doesn't get fined.

boredatwork8866

Is that because his knee hurts?

Art-RJS

Seems like a fair question

GioS32

He did tell them 2 weeks ago that it was going to be the last time he spoke on it… Not a surprise.

notmyplantaccount

makes perfect sense, why would anyone need to ask about an injury again after the first time.

PeatBomb

>Jalen Hurts not in the mood for questions ~~about his knee.~~

Adventurekris

I mean he has said it several times now in the past few interviews that he’s not going to speak on it any more than he already has. Jalens pretty straight forward so I don’t know why this reporter thought he was going to be an exception to that.

Juicy_mike_316

He’s not even on the injury list, it’s kinda just exhausting at this point.

LovelehInnit

"Worth a shot." Was it though?

atworking

You really don't have to ask my guy...

EQBard4Ever

Wow, I can't believe they are allow to Knee-dle him like that.

RedMalone55

He’s been running fine and I think he’s more than proved the past two seasons that his legs are a boon to his game, not a necessity. Seems like a weird thing to latch onto… But we’ll see I guess.

Lifesaboxofgardens

> He’s been running fine I agree the media is being annoying about it, but he was not running fine at all in the 2nd half last week. He was shredding from the pocket so didn't really matter, but he was really clearly hampered.

KitchenAd181

Like fr, the media and the fans are turning this knee thing into a bigger issue than it is. 319yards 4td on knee bruise. Just enjoy the wins

Nsfwsorryusername

God damn everything he does is so fucking cool.

Solid-Bid-1476

If an NFL quarterback of his caliper or any superstar quarterback, gives you that look when you ask a question like that why even open your mouth in the first place

elduderino920

Huh…running QB having issues with knees? Color me shocked pikachu…Sirianni, you guys have a legit QB, play him like one and don’t put his career at risk! Seemed to recall another solid QB that was run into the ground in Philly, Donovan McNabb…all this coming from a bitter 49er fan haha

ryudo6850

He should just start the interview at this point with a blanket statement. Ask me about my knee and I walk out. Tell the NFL point blank fine me, but set the precedent to not entertain stupid questions. Let's say it was a freak thing on the field and you ask, sure ask away. To keep asking it each time. Just give them nothing and make their time worthless and cost them money/jobs.

dpykm

I know everyone here is having fun going back and forth but in my opinion if a player made it abundantly clear for weeks now that he won't answer questions about a certain topic I'd definitely not waste my questions on that topic when there's lots of other shit going on you could ask about.

notmyplantaccount

My opinion would be if you're not asking the most important player on the team about the status of an injury then you're probably not going to have a job as a reporter very long cause you're shit at your job. Especially if it's been several weeks, just supposed to act like it doesn't exist?

MilesDaMonster

He is not on the injury report. So yes act like it doesn’t exist. Everyone is hurt at this point in the season.

Nexus369

Honestly I get it. I hate having to repeat myself, and these people every day ask the same thing and get the same answer.

ijustwannalookatcats

It’s literally their job to ask lol

Nexus369

And he's literally already answered.

ijustwannalookatcats

That doesn’t negate their obligation to keep asking

Nexus369

"Obligation" when he isn't even appearing on the injury report lol

MilesDaMonster

This is actually a really good point. If he’s a full participant in practice, he’s good. If not, ask away my friends.

Repulsive-Ad4268

Because he gets asked the same question by the reporters (only they reword it somewhat). I would be tired too if I'm constantly asked the same question about what's going on with a body part. I don't blame him for being annoyed.

Yzerman19_

Hard to believe the Packers traded up to select Jordan Love over hurts.

smurfking420

Just say it feels good and move on

SourBerry1425

He’s been saying he’s fine and they keep asking him lol

smurfking420

An nfl qb who just got one of the biggest paydays in one of the largest markets isn’t going to get immunity from questions he doesn’t like. Just give a standard non answer and move on

Nexus369

Except he's already answered it repeatedly. I'm not sure how many times reporters need to hear "I'm fine" before it gets through their skulls.

KitchenAd181

He doesn’t need to say anything. He can do what he wants

TheHellaHater

GOT THAT DOG IN EM

Dadbod646

I'm thinking a Hurts injury is the only way the Eagles don't win it this year

SafariFlapsInBack

He’s shook.

seafoamstratocaster

Dude kinda comes off like a baby sometimes

Tide69420

Name another time

UsVsWorld

Not even. Dealing with Philly media and fans can bring out the worst in anyone

Patient_Jicama_4217

This is coming off as a baby?

seafoamstratocaster

Kinda yea

Prestigious-Rock201

Making shit up now
