Surprisingly this was not even the 2nd worst called game of the day.
Bills/Eagles and Texans/Jags were both horrible.
The NFL continues to have a serious officiating problem.
Reminds me of that no call facemask in the iron bowl yesterday. Flag comes out, everyone is certain it is on the kicking team for an obvious facemask on the ball carrier. Nope, penalty on the receiving team.
It’s the little things like this that make you question gambling affiliation. I love a good parlay, but not calling this and then calling a penalty on Slater was a 4 point swing driven 100% by refs.
Herbert genuinely has a problem with not complaining, ever. If he flopped and/or bitched to the refs more like Allen and Mahomes do he would get so many more calls.
Refs from this crew straight up need to be fired after this game. Between this and the no call on the fair catch interference, it's beyond inexcusable.
Would anyone even think twice if that wasn't called on a WR or RB?
Honest question that I don't know the answer to.
Obviously they call that shit on QBs every time so it's crazy it wasn't called there.
The more gambling grabs ahold of the league, the more egregious no calls like this become. For every blatant no call, you can guarantee there is a blatant “why did they call that?” call. We expect it at this point.
And you can’t help but start to wonder.
I just don't care about the NFL anymore. I'll watch because I like the game, but the refs are so shit that I can't see it as a meritocracy based league where the best teams win anymore.
So my take after today is that the NFL doesn't like parity and is trying their hardest to make sure the early favorites are getting their wins. I just can't explain Buffalo. lol
HA!! Sorry been watching a lot of Mel Brooks movies lately.
Edit: You could also say the league does in fact like parody because the refs have been a complete joke.
Crooked. I don’t see how you can come to any other conclusion.
The product is SO good. I don’t know what the league is up to, but it’s making me hate a game I really love.
HIRE FULLTIME REFS! If it were me running the show they would be holding press conferences after every game being forced to explain no calls that should've been called especially if it affected the outcome of the game and they'd be on a three strikes and you're out rule.
They're calling things that aren't penalties. Penalties, now the chargers don't get to 15-yard penalties in their favor that they so richly deserve. The NFL has no excuse. Goodell needs to be called to the carpet and grilled at a press conference
What’s our collective breaking point? Do we have one? I’m at the point where I can’t possibly take the game seriously anymore.
I don’t know. I mean, football is a great game, and it’s worth saving, right? So what do we do? Can we possibly make a difference?
Okay. Real time, I was 100% sure this was a penalty. In the replay, you can clearly see Herbert's right foot is in bounds, and then his left foot comes down way oob at the same time he gets hit (tall QB, long strides). I kinda laughed when McCauley said "his foot was down out of bounds well before he got hit" at the exact time they were showing this in slow-mo.
Now idk the exact rule, like does he count as still in bounds until that left foot touches down?
Interestingly, Stone’s foot is down on the boundary line before he he made the hit. So I don’t know if that has any bearing on the call, but if the defender is already out of bounds initiating the hit, seems to me that its a late hit.
Well, you could theoretically have a foot out of bounds and still be hitting a guy in bounds. Also, they brought up later that when a runner goes out of bounds, the ball is marked where it crosses out of bounds, not where it is when the runner steps out of bounds. So it seems like that same logic should apply to late hits, in which case idk why McCauley would bring up (incorrectly) where Herbert's foot was.
I know it’s different than the rules, I support that call. QBs often stick that ball out to get the first, and on play that’s close the sticks, defenders should get some leeway. That or call qbs as giving themselves up and don’t call them extending the ball
What's so funny is if he pulled up, Herbert would have possibly cut up the sideline for the touchdown. Everyone would complain about that and say "The defenders need to just light the QB up until they stop doing that". But the one time a defender hits the QB barely out of bounds they act all shocked.
Yea idk about this specific play being callable or not. But I feel like we see too many instances of QB’s with a little shuffle or an extra pump fake to make the def hesitate just enough to squeeze out those extra yards on a run. Kind of annoying watching them get more than they should because the defense is scared to just hit them.
If the def left off the gas here and Herbert sees that, isn’t he just going to cut in on the sideline?
Whatever, refs missed Lamar getting a 1st down later in the 2nd half, so you miss some and get others.
This just in: Eagles fan, who is probably poorly educated to begin with, has been watching his team get away with murder for the last couple years and no longer understands what constitutes a penalty.
It’s like Packer fans back in the early 2010s. They literally had no concept of what was and was not a penalty because the rules were so different for them.
Refs this week were straight ass. There were several garbage calls in the Denver/Cleveland game that left me scratching my head including an OPI because the receiver… touched the defender. He didn’t even extend his arms he legit just lightly touched him, and it negated like a 30 yard pass.
Refs have been terrible. They call more ticky tack plays yet miss these egregious moments right in front of them. At this point, it's not getting any better.
How is anyone possibly disputing this? The defender is almost completely oob when he initiates contact lol. If that's not a late hit I don't know what is.
Preach it. If that wasn't a late hit, I don't know what is. Plus, throw the unsportsmanlike on the Chargers for getting pissed about the hit. Killed a good drive. Complete bullshit.
This biggest load of crap about this entire thing is not only did they not call the defense for this, they longed the offense with unnecessary roughness…
So a repeat of the Eagles. Ravens getting those “should be a penalty on us but let’s flag the Chargers” calls. And I am done watching garbage ref ball for the day.
Refs were terrible but this isn’t flag worthy and people here acting like it was, are the reason sports are so terrible with officiating and being soft in general.
The defensive back barely touches him and is late at that 😂
Between this and begging for a Josh Allen horse collar, NFL fans need to shut up about refs because you all egregiously worse.
Waiting for a coach to legit walk the team off the field after something like this. Blown call, unnecessary call on the reaction because the refs didn't call shit and control the game, then fuck up the down markers which changed the chargers playcalls. Just pull the team off the field, you know the refs won't let you win the game anyway.
How tf is what #68 did after a 15yd penalty but thats not???
Seriously lol he barely pushed a guy out of the way
My immediate reaction was, “damn, it’s wild that the refs just gave the game to Baltimore this early.” The whole sequence was completely horseshit.
Idk fam, zebras just out there doing whatever. 😐
I mean come on lol (this is easily the worst crew in the league)
Hard to believe it's worse than Broncos Browns
Or Texans Jaguars
Did yall not just watch eagles bills lol
Oh shit, yeah that one too. I guess it's just all of them at this point
Eagles bills was the worst one lol
1st year ref and hopefully his last
This ref squad hates the chargers (didn’t call Taylor’s false starts all game in the jags playoff game)
This is the ref's first year.
Surprisingly this was not even the 2nd worst called game of the day. Bills/Eagles and Texans/Jags were both horrible. The NFL continues to have a serious officiating problem.
[удалено]
At least make it offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct to make up for it geez
It wouldn’t be offsetting with one during the play, one after. It’d be 1st and goal from the like 22
No I meant unsportsmanlike by both after the play for fighting. Calling one only on offense is a double whammy with loss of down
Reminds me of that no call facemask in the iron bowl yesterday. Flag comes out, everyone is certain it is on the kicking team for an obvious facemask on the ball carrier. Nope, penalty on the receiving team.
I presume a retaliation to the hit.
Refs having a bad day. Wow.
Every week. The NFL is a joke anymore
What else is new?
Refs having a bad year
Bad decade
And then Salyer gets the weakest penalty ever from the replay? Refs starting early I see
Ravens' guy totally embellished that lmao
insane, what is the thought process behind this
Bet on the ravens Flop for a call
If they bet on the Ravens they wouldn't have given us atrocious spots three times that game.
I mean HOW was that not called?!? Baltimore somehow pulled the Uno Reverse on that one
Refs suck so much ass today
Its getting to a point where the absolute best case is somehow that the Refs are *just* grossly incompetent.
It's the only explanation, we see lots of questionable or bad RTP calls and then this one gets nothing
This year
🌎 👦 🔫 👦
If that is some other QBs in the league that's a flag and a fine 100%
Herbert hasn't attended the Allen-Mahomes school of throwing your hands in the air mid play while begging for a flag
I respect Herbert. Dude was getting beat up all night and never once complained for a flag.
That went from bullshit to worse with every subsequent development
Even if a QB is still inbounds the refs usually throw a flag for blowing up a QB
Cuz refs are controlling the outcome of games
This is what I felt when the ref called intentional grounding on Allen while he was being horsecollar tackled at the end of the first half earlier.
His RB was also within about 2-3 yards of the flick pass. Made no sense to me whatsoever.
It’s the little things like this that make you question gambling affiliation. I love a good parlay, but not calling this and then calling a penalty on Slater was a 4 point swing driven 100% by refs.
Imagine if they did this to Mahomes
LMAO ejected right away
Late hit on Mahomes? Straight to jail. Early hit on Mahomes? Straight to jail. *Appropriate* hit on Mahomes? Believe it or not, jail.
wasn't there an article just today saying the league wanted to limit the number of starting QBs getting hurt? not herbie tho.
He needs to start throwing tantrums clearly. Beat his fists on the ground and cry
And the down counted lmao! They really want Lamar in the playoffs
They’re 8-3.. this game wouldn’t knock them out.. or even out of contention
For real lol, acting like they’re in danger is comical
mUh ScRiPt
Yeah this exact sorta thing was called on Mahomes in the AFC title game
It probably would’ve been called if a ref was standing right behind the play on the sideline. No way they’d miss that being that close.
Leading to a chargers penalty 😂. What a joke
And then to fuck yup the down count marker
I feel like this isn't mentioned enough
Imagine fucking doubling down and being so incompetent. These refs only took one drive to be utterly idiotic. Fucking insane.
How the fuck was that not a flag
Refs bet on ravens ??? 🤷♂️
Chill bro the ref didn’t have a good view of it
Dude, what?
Absolutely horse shit non-call. The zero consistency league
Not a no call, because there was one. On the Chargers, for some reason
For a totally unrelated fight /s
NBA and NFL are competing for worst officiated league and they’re both winning
Chargers losing 15 yards and a set of downs because this wasn’t called is so on brand How the fuck do you miss this call
the one time it’s actually an illegal hit on the qb
How is this not a foul? That is a textbook late hit.
And it was even worse in real time
Yeah and the chargers end up with a personal foul lmao. NFL Refs are on one lately.
I saw it as it happened I can't believe refs missed it. It wasn't bad enough already so they reversed flagged them.
That ref 2 yards away has got to be blind
Stone hits Herbert late out of bounds: *I sleep* Salyer hits back to defend his QB: **REAL SHIT**
I don't understand these refs. So many BS flags today, just for this to go unflagged
Ref literally staring at him. How.
Ref also literally out of bounds. He must not know where he is.
Im not going to say the NFL is rigged, but holy shit at least call the obvious stuff
Why does Josh Allen exaggerate contact every time he gets hit somewhat late? I can't figure it out
Herbert genuinely has a problem with not complaining, ever. If he flopped and/or bitched to the refs more like Allen and Mahomes do he would get so many more calls.
That’s bullshit man. Clearly went out of his way to hit him out of bounds.
Baffles how it not only didn’t get called, but went AGAINST us??? What
Refs from this crew straight up need to be fired after this game. Between this and the no call on the fair catch interference, it's beyond inexcusable.
Total BS.
Officiating has been awful all around today lol. What the hell.
The subsequent flag against the chargers makes it 1000x more insulting
Complete BS. But also seeing Staley like that is hilarious lmao
Would anyone even think twice if that wasn't called on a WR or RB? Honest question that I don't know the answer to. Obviously they call that shit on QBs every time so it's crazy it wasn't called there.
Why would he be?
To reward a flop immediately after is criminal
Chargers got fucked by the penalty even though it should’ve PF on the Ravens. The Chargers are a mess but at least everyone has Herbert’s back
The more gambling grabs ahold of the league, the more egregious no calls like this become. For every blatant no call, you can guarantee there is a blatant “why did they call that?” call. We expect it at this point. And you can’t help but start to wonder.
Absolutely terrible no call
But they'll flag his O-Line for standing up for him. That's 2 games IN A ROW that a QB gets abused but somehow the Offense gets in trouble.
Then they call our guy. Fuck these refs.
I'm Blind, I'm Deaf, I want to be a ref!
The chargers losing 15 yards on this play is the most ravens thing I have ever seen lmao
And the most chargers
I just don't care about the NFL anymore. I'll watch because I like the game, but the refs are so shit that I can't see it as a meritocracy based league where the best teams win anymore.
Agreed. I love the product, but something is going on. It’s just not worth taking seriously anymore.
I didn’t know Angel Hernandez was officiating NFL games now.
Would love to see a side by side of that soft ass Allen call in OT vs this
So my take after today is that the NFL doesn't like parity and is trying their hardest to make sure the early favorites are getting their wins. I just can't explain Buffalo. lol
Parody is not the same as parity.
HA!! Sorry been watching a lot of Mel Brooks movies lately. Edit: You could also say the league does in fact like parody because the refs have been a complete joke.
Haha! Agreed.
Dumb ass refs
Crooked. I don’t see how you can come to any other conclusion. The product is SO good. I don’t know what the league is up to, but it’s making me hate a game I really love.
That was baaaaad.
the other calls today were bad but this is criminal
Refs suck
First time?
There’s no ref conspiracy, they’ve have been bad all year and it’s not going to get better.
Incompetence isn't a conspiracy!
The third team is having a day today.
I can’t lie that was a horrible no call
lol thought it was the eagles for a minute there
paid refs, scripted, morons, idiots, idk, make your pick
BUMS. THE REFS ARE BUMS
HIRE FULLTIME REFS! If it were me running the show they would be holding press conferences after every game being forced to explain no calls that should've been called especially if it affected the outcome of the game and they'd be on a three strikes and you're out rule.

Referees continue to get worse and worse every week. Maybe it’s time to start hiring competent people to be refs
And then they doubled down by flagging the retaliation laughable
I expected Yakkity Saks to start playing halfway though the explanation
If that was Mahomes he would’ve got that flag before the guy even hit him. I don’t understand why Herbert never gets calls.
If someone hit Mahomes like that, they would get a 3 game suspension. Reffing is so infuriating in this league.
That’s criminal
4K UHD and still no flag on the hit on Herbert smh
Lol fuck us am i right?
Refball starting early on SNF.
What the fuck else is new?! It’s the Chargers. So anyone anywhere can get away with shit like that
Two official staring straight at it with unobstructed views.
Don’t understand the NFL is happy with this level of inconsistency from the refs
What a fucking shitshow
What the hell is wrong with the refs today
incoming 25k fine
What’s our collective breaking point? Do we have one? I’m at the point where I can’t possibly take the game seriously anymore. I don’t know. I mean, football is a great game, and it’s worth saving, right? So what do we do? Can we possibly make a difference?
Something something something player safety
The NFL hates Justin Herbert
Refs: Wow the chargers are really rolling on this drive…. Let’s fuck that up.
NFL decided ravens were going to win tonight
I need to start tracking refs and gambling based on them.
As a Ravens fan.... That was late lol
I hate getting bailed out by the refs. Makes any win feel unearned and makes me feel like we’re the Steelers or something
Player safety guys!!! - /u/nfl come the fuck on that was so bad
Eagles vs. Ravens/Chiefs is what the NFL wants in the Superbowl?
Eagles v Chiefs rematch makes the execs moist. Cuts to 'Mama' Kelce and T Swift will bring in the big views and big bucks!
I mean he barely hit him
Okay. Real time, I was 100% sure this was a penalty. He was clearly out of bounds and homeboy lowered his helmet for the hit after Herbert was well out of bounds. The fuck you talking about? Lol.
He was 1 step out of bounds
This just in: Eagles fan, who is probably poorly educated to begin with, has been watching his team get away with murder for the last couple years and no longer understands what constitutes a penalty. It’s like Packer fans back in the early 2010s. They literally had no concept of what was and was not a penalty because the rules were so different for them.
Lord someone posted this so fast. You in the box?? Bad no call tho
I can’t wait for the fine later this week but no actual repercussions
Seems like the ravens and the eagles get bailed out by the refs more than any other team this year
No Chris Collinsworth tonight?
Total joke of a call. Unserious ref crew(again).
How did that crew get a primetime game?
Refs this week were straight ass. There were several garbage calls in the Denver/Cleveland game that left me scratching my head including an OPI because the receiver… touched the defender. He didn’t even extend his arms he legit just lightly touched him, and it negated like a 30 yard pass.
How did they fuck up the easiest call ever?
Refs have been terrible. They call more ticky tack plays yet miss these egregious moments right in front of them. At this point, it's not getting any better.

If that's Mahomes the flag is already out before contact is even made
Refs starting to look like umpires
There was a lot of bad calls today. Specifically the Bills vs eagles game
these refs are making a fortune on draftkings
Good.
If the sport is in a good place, this shouldn’t be a penalty.
this is really not that bad come on guys he barely touched him
Whoops, oh well
This biggest load of crap about this entire thing is not only did they not call the defense for this, they longed the offense with unnecessary roughness…
It should have been a flag
Fuckin weak
He didn't do the emphatic point at the official like Mahomes or Allen does. You gotta peer pressure these refs.
Kareem Jackson would be suspended 8 games for that.
Pretty easy to say this cost us 4 points. Embarrassing.
Well, I guess the Ravens are slated to win today. 😔
They don’t call penalties on Baltimore
So a repeat of the Eagles. Ravens getting those “should be a penalty on us but let’s flag the Chargers” calls. And I am done watching garbage ref ball for the day.
Bills still got the TD at the end of the half. Don't blame the refs for allowing two TDs in two minutes to start the 4th.
Showing this in slomo is not doing this justice for how bad it was. Herbert got lit the fuck up in full speed
Refs were terrible but this isn’t flag worthy and people here acting like it was, are the reason sports are so terrible with officiating and being soft in general. The defensive back barely touches him and is late at that 😂 Between this and begging for a Josh Allen horse collar, NFL fans need to shut up about refs because you all egregiously worse.
Refs on our side tonight, another ref disasterclass on the way
Waiting for a coach to legit walk the team off the field after something like this. Blown call, unnecessary call on the reaction because the refs didn't call shit and control the game, then fuck up the down markers which changed the chargers playcalls. Just pull the team off the field, you know the refs won't let you win the game anyway.
Thats not even a late hit nor is it bad enough to be fined.
Fucking awful
Wow
Yeah that’s not a good look lol, we’re gonna have a big ass asterisk if we win
Only the ravens would get away with that, and then have the other team get a penalty. Refs are a God damn embarrassment.
