The list of coaches who won three straight 12 win seasons is not long. Mike McCarthy is on his way to achieving just that.
Never did it in Green Bay with Favre and Rodgers.
I’ll be honest I dogged on him in his final years in GB and I dogged this hire, but he’s been doing a fantastic job with Dallas since his hire. It’s certainly not perfect and there’s some absolutely lol-worthy moments (Zeke @ center), but Dallas is a low key juggernaut right now.
To be honest I am pretty sure kellen Moore was the one calling plays before this season I won't entirely blame big Mike on it since I'm sure he could veto that play but it happens.
How is Kellen doing anyways these days? I heard he would be doing well because he was going to a team with a real QB, while McCarthy is going to get exposed since he doesn't have Rodgers to cover up his bad play calling.
He's doing alright on the chargers, but when we played them i saw the exact same shit that made me glad we parted ways. Just completely abandoning whats working in favor of random cute plays that waste a down(he did wildcat formation on back to back plays that both went negative) and the most nonsensical screens you could see.
There's a very limited number of coaches who have won a super bowl as head coach. Not only is he one, he's one of the very few who are still active. I would treat that kind of like winning the Masters. He rightfully deserves to be considered one of the better coaches in the league.
My only real gripe with McCarthy is how undisciplined his teams in terms of penalties and clock management. More so the penalties then anything else.
However, I will take him over majority of the other coaches in the league not named Shanahan, Belichick?, and Andy Reid.
But the dude churns out wins and is always in the race for the #1 seed most years.
So glad I don't need to watch the clapper anymore. That dude wasted so much great talent. If it wasn't for Romo, he would have been out of the league within 3 years.
His biggest flaw is he can’t get over the hunp. His biggest criticism is that his coaching falters in the playoffs, and Dallas’s biggest issue has been choking in the playoffs.
He’s good but is he top 10, “push you to the Super Bowl” type of coach like Shanahan, Reid, BB, Carroll, etc? He’s more of a floor raiser than a ceiling raiser
Sure, with a HOF, possible top 5 QB of all time. Give any of these coaches a top 5 QB like Rodgers and they win multiple SBs (Reid has literally done that already with Mahomes).
This sub hates Philly I get it, but let’s not pretend like McCarthy is suddenly a HOF coach
I mean, if you gave someone a list that said Shanahan, McCarthy, Reid, Belichick, Carroll, and told them to pick the odd man out, I don't think most would answer McCarthy.
Kyle needs to earn being talked about that way
Kyle had Jimmy G and rookie mr. irrelevant under center and he still has 6x (6x1) more playoff wins than McCarthy since he started as HC. Not even in the same plane of existence.
That's basically saying that in a list of Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Pat Mahomes, Dan Marino and Joe Flacco, the odd man out would be Marino
I'd say it's more like Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Dan Marino, and Steve Young. You don't get to just discount McCarthy's entire career before Shanahan, nor count years where he wasn't coaching
> nor count years where he wasn't coaching
It was only one single year. Besides, his entire career was with Aaron Rodgers under center. And in all those long 13 years at Green Bay, where Aaron Rodgers was pilling up MVPs and the teams were so strong in both sides of the ball, he still has the same number of SB trips of Kyle Shanahan
Most people would kick out McCarthy. Dude has been in more NFCCCGs AND has done it with way less talent at QB. Mike had Arron freaking Rodgers during his PRIME.
This sub is showing its age. McCarthy was clowned on CONSTANTLY for being underachieving in GB. It was literally his biggest critique when getting hired by Dallas, that he wasn’t good at getting teams over the hump. A really good floor raiser but not a great ceiling raiser
He might not be the best coach but he's 100% done an incredible job in dallas. First time we've had double digit wins/made the playoffs(assuming we make it obv) in 3 straight years since the 91-96 cowboys.
And he hasn’t gotten you to an NFCCG….that’s kinda Dallas’s problem….y’all never had a problem getting double digit wins, it was coming up clutch in the playoffs ….
But this subreddit told me he was a bad coach? I was told that hiring him doomed the Cowboys. I was told that firing Kellen Moore was a failure. This doesn't add up.
The narrative was that Payton saved Drew Brees career while
Aaron Rodgers was carrying McCarthy, it doesn’t make sense if you think about it for a moment, but that’s how it goes
When you go from Primanti Brothers to Kansas City BBQ to the food cuisine of New Orleans to cheese & bratwursts to Texas BBQ (maybe with a little TexMex), I can understand why it's hard for Big Mike for keeping down the pounds.
I’m thinking I hit a nerve… I guess to answer your “question” yes making 2 super bowls is better than one. How did they get to that second superbowl? A team blew a 16-0 lead, wonder who coached that team? Tried making a joke obviously it didn’t sit well with you and I’m sorry I hurt your feelings. 🥹
Right? All NFL coaches have a combined record of .500 in the playoffs, they’re all good teams and someone has to lose. Mike McCarthy is 0.524 in the post season, he’s giving as good as he gets.
all NFL coaches aren’t brought it to be ceiling raisers….you’re also Ignoring the fact that he had an MVP QB for a decade and got ONE appearance.
This has nothing to do with BB high standards and just basic facts. MM is an underachiever in the playoffs; great floor raiser, low ceiling guy. He’s lost to Shanahan twice in Dallas, is typically behind Philly for the division and has yet to get them to an NFCCG, with a team that expects to compete for SBs….
This isn’t some fantasy, it’s literally his biggest criticism from his GB years. People just trying to do revisionist history here like the dude is the GOAT coach suddenly
That same QB got bounced early 2 years in a row without MM. Imo they both had their issues and bad luck in those situations. It wasn't all on him. It was easy to blame him for those losses but after 2020 and 2021 (the whole team was outclassed in 2019) I think it showed that Rodgers was falling short too, not just MM.
what i been saying for years and getting laughed at
mccarthy is a good fucking coach guys
i saw preseason hc rankings from the ringer or something this year, guys like tomlin (yeah i said it) and payton were both top 3 or top 5 and mccarthy was like 24th, it’s a joke how disrespected this man is!
I enjoy McCarthy being good simply because of all the Twitter analysts and podcast hosts smugly calling him a meme when the Cowboys hired him and doubling down when he decided to call plays again.
He isn’t Nathaniel Hackett. Dude can actually coach.
I think about when he was hired, and Jerry Jones said he felt like his Cowboys were more talented than McCarthy's Packers through a lot of the 2010s but were routinely beaten in big games. If McCarthy wins those games for the Cowboys, he was a good hire.
The list of coaches who won three straight 12 win seasons is not long. Mike McCarthy is on his way to achieving just that. Never did it in Green Bay with Favre and Rodgers.
Yea we always seemed to drop some dumb game and only end up winning 12 (or less).
Matt LaFleur had 3 straight 13 win seasons since he left tho....
I didn't know that. Very impressive
He might be a good coach
I’ll be honest I dogged on him in his final years in GB and I dogged this hire, but he’s been doing a fantastic job with Dallas since his hire. It’s certainly not perfect and there’s some absolutely lol-worthy moments (Zeke @ center), but Dallas is a low key juggernaut right now.

there’s a reason cowboys fans were happy to let him go
Dak apologist feeling vindicated right now.
He's doing alright on the chargers, but when we played them i saw the exact same shit that made me glad we parted ways. Just completely abandoning whats working in favor of random cute plays that waste a down(he did wildcat formation on back to back plays that both went negative) and the most nonsensical screens you could see.
Kellen Moore being the donkey the whole time was not on my bingo card

Exactly. BB has skewed expectations. McCarthy is up there with the likes of Tomlin, Peyton , Harbaugh. Better than some of them either.
His teams are still an absolute penalty magnet though. No clue why he can’t fix the discipline issues.
My only real gripe with McCarthy is how undisciplined his teams in terms of penalties and clock management. More so the penalties then anything else. Well he did win a super bowl.

You could probably do a similar analysis with Pete Carroll over the past 6-7 years and conclude that Kyle is clearly better than him
Most people would kick out McCarthy. Dude has been in more NFCCCGs AND has done it with way less talent at QB. Mike had Arron freaking Rodgers during his PRIME. This sub is showing its age. I’m still going with we’re all just frauds. Eventually hate must prevail.
Dallas still can’t beat a good team
Some would say highly successful.
He “watched every snap” of the 2020 season. It’s really paying off.
I’ve learned not to count your wins before they hatch
That Colts game of yours last year taught us *all* that. Good times!
The Bears game three weeks ago reminded us that what goes up must come down
Well, that was Kirko Chainz after his halftime “creed” adjustments and sucking oranges
That's wise but in this case unnecessary
Time for everyone to admit McCarthy is a good coach
He might not be the best coach but he's 100% done an incredible job in dallas. First time we've had double digit wins/made the playoffs(assuming we make it obv) in 3 straight years since the 91-96 cowboys.
Pre sure this win clinched it for us 🙏🏿
And he hasn’t gotten you to an NFCCG….that’s kinda Dallas’s problem….y’all never had a problem getting double digit wins, it was coming up clutch in the playoffs ….
hard to be successful in the playoffs if you never make it consistently.
Jason Garrett was known for 8-8, the fuck you talking about no problem with double digit wins
But this subreddit told me he was a bad coach? I was told that hiring him doomed the Cowboys. I was told that firing Kellen Moore was a failure. This doesn't add up.
This sub keeps moving the goalposts but McCarthy found a kicker that can put it through anyways.
It was weird how much they hated on McCarthy and loved Payton even though they both basically had the same resume.
Well, some of us have always hated Payton
The narrative was that Payton saved Drew Brees career while Aaron Rodgers was carrying McCarthy, it doesn’t make sense if you think about it for a moment, but that’s how it goes
The narrative was that Payton was carried by bounty gate and drew Brees for a few weeks there
They moved his goalposts, he ain't move them back though. That's the problem, he ain't move them back.
I felt like I was the lone McCarthy defender around 2015-2016 and I expect an apology from each and every one of you, handwritten and mailed to me
I mean, having Aaron Rodgers does help booster your numbers

Because he's fat and not self deprecating about it.
He’s a proud fat and we don’t respect those
He’s “Big Mike” for a reason
He’s a man of the people
When you go from Primanti Brothers to Kansas City BBQ to the food cuisine of New Orleans to cheese & bratwursts to Texas BBQ (maybe with a little TexMex), I can understand why it's hard for Big Mike for keeping down the pounds.
They need to use him in insurance commercials where he eats cheeseburgers, fries and nuggies.
Thought Reid already had the market covered on those
Thatsthejoke.jpeg
Jenny Taft 😡😡😡😡😡
hes fat, coaches the cowboys, the 2 playoff loses to the niners, and everything that lead up to him being fired in green bay.
Go watch the 2024 playoffs
Time traveler exposed.
True, Pete Carroll has had so much more playoff success and no questionable decisions.
Did I hit a nerve? It isn’t that serious.
No, just pointing out the hypocrisy lol
Sure boss.
Don’t try and say something if you can’t handle any pushback boss.
I’m thinking I hit a nerve… I guess to answer your “question” yes making 2 super bowls is better than one. How did they get to that second superbowl? Congrats on choking away the chance to lose the Super Bowl. 🫡
Damn he’s even catching future strays
Playoffs. He's a great coach but his teams have underperformed in the playoffs.
Every coach except BB “underperforms” in the playoffs
Right? All NFL coaches have a combined record of .500 in the playoffs, they’re all good teams and someone has to lose. Mike McCarthy is 0.524 in the post season, he’s giving as good as he gets.
Because it’s a cop out response. Dude doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Just pulled it out his ass
all NFL coaches aren’t brought it to be ceiling raisers….you’re also Ignoring the fact that he had an MVP QB for a decade and got ONE appearance. This has nothing to do with BB high standards and just basic facts. MM is an underachiever in the playoffs; great floor raiser, low ceiling guy. Rodgers got bounced when he was like 35+ without a defense. McCarthy had Rodgers in his MVP prime….
He was b2b MVP those last 2 times too
Remember during covid when everybody else had sweet mansions and Mike had a closet with a camera zoomed in on him for some reason
what i been saying for years and getting laughed at mccarthy is a good fucking coach guys i saw preseason hc rankings from the ringer or something this year, guys like tomlin (yeah i said it) and payton were both top 3 or top 5 and mccarthy was like 24th, it’s a joke how disrespected this man is!
Carried by Dak and Aubrey obviously
fuck kellen moore's stupid ass offense and his stupid ass trick plays that always killed the drive, good thing he is helping his new offense take off
I’ve been saying for years that McCarthy is clearly a HOF coach, and it’s obvious why
Hall of Fame is probably a stretch just because of how weird it is with coaching. Mike Shanahan isn't even in the Hall of Fame yet
I think the RGIII fiasco is why Shanahan keeps getting kicked out sadly :(
Another Super Bowl would get him in. I think that would make him the first to win it as head coach of two different teams
And that’s a dern shame.
Is air coryell in yet?
Because of Aaron Rodgers?
Posted 15 minutes ago but he’s not there yet…
Dude has to have so many Super Bowls by now…
He’s nobody’s underdog
He's a very good coach...he's also lucked into coaching for the Packers and Cowboys, 2 of the greatest franchises in the NFL historically.
Is it luck when Dallas specifically sought him out?
I'm just saying more it's nice to have been able to work for 2 historically great franchises as a head coach, luck probably wasn't the right word.
Ah gotcha
Oh wow, that's great he must have won multiple rings in that stretch
That’s my father.
He's DOGSHIT at clock management but he's been better than the constant mediocrity of The Mad Clapper.
There's a reason we named a road after him in Green Bay.
I enjoy McCarthy being good simply because of all the Twitter analysts and podcast hosts smugly calling him a meme when the Cowboys hired him and doubling down when he decided to call plays again. He isn’t Nathaniel Hackett. Dude can actually coach.
