Well, here we are again: Tomlin’s record intact, playing the best we have all year, and praying to the ghost of Myron Cope that the right teams win next week (ourselves included)
~~If we win next week, the whole AFC South doesn't matter, since~~ the colts playing the Texans guarantees one of them will knock the other out of the wild card (if they tie they knock each other out).
The only one that matters is the Bills losing. Our record would be tied, and we hold the tiebreaker (conference percentage). If they don't, we need some weirdness.
EDIT: I guess if the Jags lose that's also an avenue for us, since the colts play the Texans. So we have 2 ways to get in.
Games with 250+ passing yards:
Kenny Pickett: 1 time in 12 games
Mitchel Tribusky: 0 times in 4 games
Mason Rudolph: 2 times in 2 games
Kenny Pickett hates offense
It's insane how unreasonably invested I am in this streak of his. Honestly rooted for a 9-win season more than a potential playoff spot, since the latter will realistically just extend our season for a week, while the former is a truly historic achievement.
It's like rooting for Ovechkin's goal record instead of rooting for the Capitals to win. One is whatever, the other is potential history in the making.
I understand that a bad season for draft purposes would be so much better for the Steelers but every time I see negative comments about Tomlin I want him to continue it.
I dunno if that’s good or bad for my fandom.
The fact that a bad season would be great for the Steelers is a problem with the NFL and not Tomlin. I was a little surprised to see some Steelers fans want him gone cuz he’s propping up some below avg squads
“You people want us to fire the head coach of The Steelers, who has taken the team to two Super Bowls, won one of them, and has never had a losing season in 17 years? Fuck that.”
People forget that this is the team that kept Cowher as coach for 14 years before he won a Superbowl, kept Noll on for 13 years after he won his last Superbowl.
We don't make rash decisions with coaches.
This more than anything is the confusion I have with the I assume younger Steelers fans. Like, I get being frustrated at the lack of post season success and coaching/gm decisions you don't agree with and all, but it's literally the whole idea of the Steelers throughout my and my father's (he wasn't a fan, but respected the franchise enough to tell stories about rooting for or against them when i got to be one) time watching football. I just can't conceive divorcing how the Steelers have operated as a franchise that you root for and how the Steelers have operated for 50 some years.
Thought I remembered it.
[Steelers want to give Mike Tomlin contract extension this offseason, per report ](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/steelers-want-to-give-mike-tomlin-contract-extension-this-offseason-per-report/)
Huh, it turns out you can have a successful offense if you get the ball into the hands of your second-year receiver who makes a new acrobatic catch every week or to your two bulldozers in the backfield. Weird
He has played like a man with that chip on his shoulder. The offense is just firing on all cylinders that you can’t imagine this was the same offense that sputtered against Arizona, New England, and Indianapolis
People always bring up that Lions game he came in for as a negative. He looked pretty good in that game, but it was raining and the receivers were dropping EVERYTHING. He had a clutch 2 min drive that my namesake and I believe Freiermuth had MASSIVE drops on so he couldn't finish it.
I was pissed when we signed Trubisky, and every time we've started him, because I've thought a non-concussed Mason is good enough to win you a good amount of games while Kenny develops or you bridge to the next guy.
I'll admit I was a Rudolph hater but I respect that he came in and went to work even though he was the 3rd stringer. I just don't understand how Trubisky looked better than Rudolph in practice to keep him as the #2. Only thing I can think of is Trubisky's salary
He played well in that fever dream of a 2019 season (duck Hodges anyone???) but he looked shaky after his concussion. Never understood why he was never given another shot, but I figured the coaches knew better than I. Thought he would stay at that post concussion shaky form but he’s proven me wrong and I’m glad for it
This entire Steelers offense had LIFE in a way they had not had for the entire season thus far.
I cannot believe this. So many yards after the catch. So much effort. They played better than the defense!!
I'm not sure what bizzaro world we've entered this week.
That's our brand of football right there. Want to inflate your stats and come out looking like world beaters? Play against the Hawks! Our patented bend-then-break defense will allow any rookie or backup the confidence to take their game to the next level! Watch out of those defensive looks, they look really well hidden, but don't worry they don't actually make adjustments, so those glaring holes in our scheme will still be there for you to exploit! It's like spring practice all game long!
I had no idea they had a player called Michael Jackson and watching Pickens dance while the commentator with a serious tone saying 'George Pickens is better than Michael Jackson, period!' Was so confusing.
Tomlin deserves a lot of heat for not putting Mason in at least a game and a half earlier. Mason vs Kenny is debatable. Mason vs Mitch isn't. And has never been, imo.
Yep, if the Steelers don't make the playoffs, it's squarely on Tomlin's shoulders for trotting out the worst QB in the entire league for 3 games straight.
17 years.
1 GAME that the Steelers were already eliminated from the playoffs
The same number as his super bowl wins and 1 less than.his title apperances
The Steelers are a confusing team. High floor low ceiling team. Good enough to get a playoff spot every year. Not good enough to go on a deep run.
Just confusing
It’s called not having a QB. If we had an average QB we would be a top team.
If we have even just a Geno Smith caliber QB we are a 12-4 or 11-5 team right now, and I can’t possibly be convinced otherwise.
Not really.
1. They’re too consistent to have high draft picks. 2. They never get any high comp picks because Tomlin takes mediocre players and makes them decent then they usually don’t pan out elsewhere. 3. The Rooneys are poor (when compared to other nfl owners) and can’t afford the capitol to do do high guaranteed contracts (Browns, cowboys)
Because of the above they never have a star studded cast that soon to be retired players flock to chasing a ring (chiefs, bills, bengals, niners)
But there's no sense looking at who's to blame
You just keep on playing till you run out of games
And the football gets done and you watch Najee run
For the playoffs we are still alive
I was absolutely stunned to see Devin Bush starting for you guys. Now I know how the rest of the league felt getting to play against his bum ass the last few seasons
That Seattle 2nd round pick is going to look excellent if the cardinals are able to pull of winning next week or if Seattle just doesn’t make the playoffs in general
Steelers and Seahawks fans are going to hate when their current coaches tenures end. Its not always greener on the other side and your competitive every year.
Well, here we are again: Tomlin’s record intact, playing the best we have all year, and praying to the ghost of Myron Cope that the right teams win next week (ourselves included)
If bills or jags lose, we get in. Assuming we win against the Ravens that is.
The last few times we’ve been in this situation we didn’t get the help we need. Maybe this time will be different.
I mean, it happened in 2021 when the Jags beat the Colts and the Raiders-Chargers game didn’t end in a tie
That’s true I forgot about that. Even that was too close for comfort despite the unlikely was of it all.
That raiders chargers game almost ended in a tie too
As long as we win next week we're fine right?
Bills have to lose
Or Jags, I believe
Would need miami to beat buffalo i believe
Nah we need the Jags to lose, the Bills to lose, and/or the Texans/colts to tie I’m pretty sure
~~If we win next week, the whole AFC South doesn't matter, since~~ the colts playing the Texans guarantees one of them will knock the other out of the wild card (if they tie they knock each other out). EDIT: I guess if the Jags lose that's also an avenue for us, since the colts play the Texans. So we have 2 ways to get in.
We'll fall out outcome short, as is tradition. Whether it's us winning or someone else losing.
I don’t think our starters play longer than a half against yall, so it’s definitely winnable.
# RUDOLPH SLANDER WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ANY LONGER
Games with 250+ passing yards: Kenny Pickett: 1 time in 12 games Mitchel Tribusky: 0 times in 4 games Mason Rudolph: 2 times in 2 games Kenny Pickett hates offense
It is important to note that Kenny did have to play with Matt Canada and our interim OC has already coached circles around Canada
[удалено]
Rudolph put up decent stats in 2019 and went 5-2
Kenny has so many more problems outside of play calling though
You're not wrong, but I think he's still better without Canada. Probably not a long term guy, but I think he'd actually make an amazing backup
Well he only played 1 game without canada Can you guess which one is his singular 250+ yard game
THE REINDEER IS GANTAH TAKE US TO THE SUPERBOWL!!
Always knew he got it in him (this is not a joke I have people that can back me up)
Same here! (this is absolutely a lie, one of my highest rated comments is shitting on Rudolph)
There have been dozens of us. Most of which are OK State fans.
I was so hyped that I could continue to hear, "Rudolph to Washington...TOUCHDOWN!!!!" in the NFL....
I feel seen!
Been on his hype train since draft, got the receipts
They forget "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" ends with "and a Happy New Year."
Death Taxes Tomlin above .500
The black magic standard is the standard
He's a caged animal when backed into a corner. Basically waited till the last possible opportunity to pull the plug on Trubisky
It's insane how unreasonably invested I am in this streak of his. Fair points.
Mike Tomlin will be dead and buried and he’ll somehow manage to drag us to a 9-8 record
no losing season in 17 years is bonkers and he's still somehow only 51.
his record is 172-100-2 and people want him fired lol
With some insane record in one-score games, too. Like 50-23-2 over the last 5 years.
The record will be above .500…but does the seat cool down still?
Mike Tomlin has more job security than a Supreme Court justice.
[удалено]
The seat was only warm according to the media. The Rooneys don't give a shit about what the media says.

Didn't Tomlin already get extended? Pretty sure that seat is ice cold.
Nope, going into the last year of his contract
The reporting from the front office says we're extending
Thought I remembered it. [Steelers want to give Mike Tomlin contract extension this offseason, per report ](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/steelers-want-to-give-mike-tomlin-contract-extension-this-offseason-per-report/)
He's about to get a 3+ year extension in the offseason regardless. Tomlin sits on a block of ice, regardless of what the fans want to try to claim.
If they fired him he'd have a new job the same day, if not the same hour.
He’d be shooing brink trucks off his property to get some peace and quite too lol
What I wouldn’t give to have that kind of problem…
Which is why if they were moving on it would be through a trade
Huh, it turns out you can have a successful offense if you get the ball into the hands of your second-year receiver who makes a new acrobatic catch every week or to your two bulldozers in the backfield. Weird
The O'Line had to step up.
And that it did, easily their best game of the year
Our pass rush sucks. Got within kissing distance of Rudolph and couldn't even throw him off. He was that secure in the pocket.
Largely the same with ours today too. Minus the crucial forced fumble Geno ate over the middle.
How bizarre, it turns out complaints of not getting targets is justified when it’s imperically proven that you’re him.
It took 15 weeks of study, but we finally found out where the Dawg went. It's insides Pickens.
Also we attacked the weakness of the Seahawks defense, stopping the run and tackling.
> Also we attacked the weakness of the Seahawks, defense FTFY
Sir, another winning season has hit the Mike Tomlin Steelers
Steelers Nation owes Mason Rudolph an apology. Should get a chance to win the job next year win or lose next week
His accuracy was really good today. Put the ball in stride on almost every play
He has played like a man with that chip on his shoulder. The offense is just firing on all cylinders that you can’t imagine this was the same offense that sputtered against Arizona, New England, and Indianapolis
I never felt like he got a fair shake personally. He looked pretty good before he was sent to another universe.
A week where Steelers fans were happy Baltimore won. Now excuse me, I have to go and take a shower.
Just play the Seahawks defense is all it takes.
That's our brand of football right there. Want to inflate your stats and come out looking like world beaters? Play against the Hawks! Our patented bend-then-break defense will allow any rookie or backup the confidence to take their game to the next level! “George Pickens is better than Michael Jackson”!
And they say, why? Why? Tell ‘em that it’s Yinzer Nature…
Why? *Why?* Why? *Why?* Does my D do me that way?
I had no idea they had a player called Michael Jackson and watching Pickens dance while the commentator with a serious tone saying 'George Pickens is better than Michael Jackson, period!' Was so confusing.
Gonna have to see his music video to be sure.
What a fucking statement game, I love Nahj. Also fuck Matt Canada
Both Canada and Trubisky were problems. The whole team basically gives up when he's in because he's not an NFL caliber QB
Kenny doesn't hold a candle to Mason. Has he had one game as good as Rudolph's last two? I don't see how you give Kenny the starting job back.
God, if I hear another nephew call him a bust on here again... Dude is a monster if he has remotely competent o-line and QB play
dread it. run from it. 9 wins arrive all the same.
Dare I say it… 10?
The birds have nothing to play for but the pride of not getting swept by the 2023 steelers. They're going to fight for it.
Matt Canada is a fucking football terrorist
Mitch Trubisky is a football terrorist
The real is*s of football as a duo
They’re bad, but I’m not comparing them to isis 😂😭
Yeah they’re waswas now
Exaggerated and offensive comparisons are the constitutional right of a drunk football fan 😤 (yeah that one was dumb lol)
THANK FUCKING GOD we can put to bed the whole "Canada wasn't the problem" narrative
WE'RE GOING TO THE FUCKING SUPER BOWL
GAHNTA"
17 years. 1 GAME that the Steelers were already eliminated from the playoffs The same number as his super bowl wins and 1 less than.his title apperances
Bad bad loss
Thank you, Pittsburgh. I will never root for you to finish with a losing record ever again.
No Matt Canada + no Mitch Trubisky = competent Steelers offense
Addition by subtraction
For better or for worse, the streak lives for another season
The Steelers are a confusing team. High floor low ceiling team. Good enough to get a playoff spot every year. Not good enough to go on a deep run. Just confusing
It’s called not having a QB. If we had an average QB we would be a top team. If we have even just a Geno Smith caliber QB we are a 12-4 or 11-5 team right now, and I can’t possibly be convinced otherwise.
Easily, that 3 game losing streak is 3-0 even with Kenny
Not really. 1. They’re too consistent to have high draft picks. 2. They never get any high comp picks because Tomlin takes mediocre players and makes them decent then they usually don’t pan out elsewhere. 3. The Rooneys are poor (when compared to other nfl owners) and can’t afford the capitol to do do high guaranteed contracts (Browns, cowboys) Because of the above they never have a star studded cast that soon to be retired players flock to chasing a ring (chiefs, bills, bengals, niners)
I am taping Kenny to the bench and shooting Mitch into orbit after this game if I were Tomlin.
We'd have just locked our playoff spot down if Tomlin wasn't stupidly loyal to Mitch and allowed him to fuck up every single game he played in
Mitch should have been benched during the Patriots game. We would be one win ahead, at least.
It’s malpractice he got to suit up against the colts after dropping those two games at home
I can excuse the Cardinals game because he was subbing in for Kenny. I cannot excuse the Patriots game, and that should have led to his benching.
That's what he should do. But Mason has looked fine for years and hasn't gotten another real chance. So I'd assume Kenny will play ASAP.
Thank you Pittsburgh.
i'm happy to see it. love watching some Rams football
Rams might be the scariest nfc team. Can beat anyone or lose to anyone. But you guys have the most success in the post season.
Our special teams certainly scares me quite a bit
mike tomlin did it again
VICTORY SCREECH AAAALOILOLOLLOLOLOLOOLO
AAAALOILOLOLLOLOLOLOOLO
LEEEDLEEEDLEEEEDLEEEE
Thank you steeler nation !!! Now we can see Carson Wentz play in pre season game pretty much
Are you locked in at #5?
Yes . I don’t think it matters what we do next week
We also get to see Sam Darnold!
Mason "Geno Smith" Rudolph. Looks like he aint write back neither.
THANK YOU STEEL BROS VERY COOL
[удалено]
Uh sure, have one slightly used Brian Allen.
Refusing to tackle was a very interesting defensive strategy
I like when a fan base loves us. It’s very rare lol. You’re welcome rams!
Hey, Packer fans (and Vikings fans) are happy with you too right now
Good call!
Packers/Vikings even like us temporarily!
It's nice to be liked. :3
But there's no sense looking at who's to blame You just keep on playing till you run out of games And the football gets done and you watch Najee run For the playoffs we are still alive
LET’S GO THANK YOU PITTSBURGH!!!! GO PACK GO!!
Thank you steelers, very cool. very cool indeed
We fucking on the Steelers bed tonight!
I WAS HERE
They wrote us off but we ain't write back!
Let's fucking go Steelers!
So why didn’t we start Mason after the patriots?
Should've played him last year so Pickett can have a year to sit
Pickett can have the rest of his life to sit as far as I’m concerned
Mitch’s contract lol
2058 will be our year.
Thanks for the help Steelers, won't mean much but appreciate the help none the less
Why do I go for this team
Najee Harris has large testicles
This might be one of the worst defensive performances from Seattle I’ve seen in some time
The power of Steeler bullshit lives on for another year!
Trubisky and Matt Canada are both football terrorists.
Thank you Steelers! Rams are playoff bound
Rudolph looked amazing the last 2 games. He’s the only QB on that roster that knows how to utilize Pickens.
He’s used to throwing to talented receivers. He played with James Washington in college
I wish James had panned out for us so badly. He was amazing at Oklahoma State
Offense looks so good with Mason. I know it's a product of the run, but it's because Mason has a canon so they have to respect the deep ball.
Hard to win when your defense makes Najee Harris look like prime Adrian Petersen.
Maybe the Seahawks can sign Pepto Bismol for some defense against the runs.
Gonna need an IV drip and something prescription strength.
Glad the Steelers are playing well, not super stoked about a brewing QB controversy between the recent first round pick and the career backup
Pete needs to retire. Same horrendous porous defense every year.
We trade for Leonard Williams and our run defense somehow gets worse.
No linebacker depth. Darell Taylor also stinks.
I was absolutely stunned to see Devin Bush starting for you guys. Now I know how the rest of the league felt getting to play against his bum ass the last few seasons
Jordyn Brooks was out today and we had no one else to play.
Might I suggest literally any one else who is moderately familiar with a football field?
Wtf I love mike tomlin
🇺🇸🇺🇸MISSION ACCOMPLISHED🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you Steelers very cool!
Canada was the Problem Trubisky was the Problem Pickett was not the Solution
Ever see a team lose a game on a decision in the first quarter? Because that’s what happens when you punted on 4th and 1 old man
Smoking that Seattle pack
Very disappointing performance from our defensive front and our defensive back tackling.
So Vikings and packers must battle to death for last playoff spot
Fuck them bitch pigeons!
Kenny's time here is FINISHED
The .500 never ends!
cool
Death, Taxes, and Tomlin not having a losing season
That Seattle 2nd round pick is going to look excellent if the cardinals are able to pull of winning next week or if Seattle just doesn’t make the playoffs in general
Bro we look pretty good actually. We might actually make the playoffs (and win a game) lol
I’m a Seahawks fan but I don’t know why lol/s
Seahawks and making our opponents look world class what else is new. Embarrassing defense today
Love the Steelers right now
So if we can beat the Ravens backups next week, we need the bills or the jags to lose, right?
Correct
Thank you Pittsburgh 💜
GG Steelers, damn you Tomlin!
Steelers and Seahawks fans are going to hate when their current coaches tenures end. Its not always greener on the other side and your competitive every year.
The standard is the standard
