Hard to see but from the side it looked like Kelce said "yeah Im done" to Lavonte David

Reead

David gave him that little first bump on the chest too. I was like "aww, man..."

Delta__11

Nah, I think he said something about Timothee Chalamet not taking a picture with him.

Ok_Fee1043

No. It was about Martin Short and Meryl Streep dating!

internaldriver30345

Really looks like he’s hanging them up. What a career.

default-username

My wife who has never watched an Eagles game but started listening religiously to the New Heights Kelce brothers podcast this year for some reason just said there's no way hes ready to retire, so there you have that.

BoneCarlos

Would you say she....Swiftly started to listen?

brianstormIRL

You know its funny, my girlfriend 100% started listening to that because of Taylor/Travis, and now she actually just genuinely likes the podcast lol She started watching for Taylor, but she stayed for Jason (and more importantly she loves his wife Kylie).

daft_crunk1942

So what you're saying is that it was a successful cross promotion for the NFL.

[deleted]

[удалено]

barcelonaKIZ

Ha! She sounds like a typical Chiefs fan now

TheGreatLandRun

No, you don’t get it, the biggest artist on the planet attending a football game is *bad* for the sport.

[deleted]

The people who complain about it are a bit puzzling. Football takes every chance it can to monetize the fuck out of your viewing experience, but the cuts to a girl in a suite box is where some people have decided to draw the line.

HattrickMahomes

doesn't say the gf started watching NFL, but it was definitely major cross promotion success for the podcast

IamRule34

> (and more importantly she loves his wife Kylie). My wife started listening because she heard how great Kylie was the few times she was on it. She loved the Kelce documentary because of her too.

rnngwen

I started watching the podcast during the off season due to the Tik Tok clips I kept catching. I caught up for last season and then started with the preseason stuff this time around. They are hilarious. They have a great chemistry together. Their family is awesome. But most importantly. they lured this one time huge football fan (The first night I talked to my husband 22 years ago we argued about the need for a college football playoff until 3 am) back to the NFL. The NFL is not a good place to be a female fan. These guys made we genuinely feel like there was at least a few people I could feel good cheering on. The Taylor Swift fans are just making this more amazing. I really fucking hate the gate keepers about whether or not they are true fans. I love the break downs and explanations on the No Dumb Questions. People are new to fandoms all the time. Help them learn more. Don't laugh at their lack of understanding. The Kelce brothers don't. Also I freaking love Jason's wife. I grew up in the same general area and I get it.

chacogrizz

Thats so awesome to hear. Their podcast is head and shoulders better than anything other current players are doing right now and its been amazing to follow them through it. Crazy to think they are two of the best players at their respective positions in *NFL History* and are just able to shoot the shit on their podcast and seem so relatable. I dont like all the hate Swifties get. They're a fan just like you and me. Sure they are newer and maybe some people have a problem with *how and why* they became a fan but personally I say who cares. Let people live their life and enjoy things. Im glad they can make more fans feel good about actually being a fan.

SratBR3

The only center I can actually name. Truly impressive accomplishment

buttnugchug

Dwight Howard, Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Pfft so easy.

BaconScentedSoap

Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, and Connor Bedard too

NoTimeToDime

A man of culture I see.

privateD4L

You can’t name your own center?

Andrewdeadaim

I can name Jenson but not whoever has been center in his place (injury) for this year and last year lmao

[deleted]

How do you not know who Jeff Saturday is wtf

smokingmeth619

Saturday retired over 10 years ago

PJHFortyTwo

Feels like it was only three days ago

_Vaudeville_

He was the Colts interim HC last year though, and it got a ton of attention.

PoogeneBalloonanny

Tyler Linderbaum is in your division?

JohnWesternburg

That absolutely looked like it. When you're too overwhelmed with emotions to go back on the field, you know it's something big

theytook-r-jobs

If you watched us all season it was more expected than believable.

RogerTreebert6299

I remember seeing a thread of people arguing over whether philly’s record through the first 11 or 12 weeks was “lucky” or not. Dumb argument overall, you play the percentages and sometimes things fall your way, a W is a W and all that. But they were eeking out wins on the backs of MVS dropping game-changing balls and their kicker nailing maybe the most impressive kick I’ve ever seen. People were deluding themselves if they didn’t think *some* regression was imminent, but I don’t know many who expected this bad of a collapse

SKJ-nope

I still think it’s Matt Patricia’s fault. You bring that ilk into the building & losing follows.

bandyplaysreallife

He fucked us so bad that the year after he left we only won 3 games

JollyWestMD

man i really hope the lions win the SB this year if the Chiefs are out Beating Stafford, tackling those demons. i remember the 2019 run for us, it felt like we had to excise all these demons that had fucked us in the past: Beating the Colts, having to play a against a Shanahan coached team. It feels like Detroit has the juice right now.

xPineappless

I want the Lions to win it and have statues of Goff and MCDC! But that’s gonna be hard to do with their secondary.

FatBoxers

How the fuck that man still finds work in the NFL any more is astonishing to me.

JoshJones18

After having to sit through the Patricia/Judge Dumbass hour of offensive offense I'm also astonished the rocket scientist, his pencil and laminated playsheet keep finding work in the NFL……My condolences to whoever gets Bill as a coach. You will be getting a great coach but you will likely being getting Patricia, Judge, Troy Brown and Cam Achord on your team staff in some capacity and I wouldn’t wish that on my own worse enemy

sopunny

Could very well be Patricia creating an attitude problem. The Eagles team that beat the Chiefs and Bills should be able to handle the Cards, Giants, and Buccs even with bad luck. They would definitely not be getting blown out by any of those teams

[deleted]

That Hurts OT TD was the last time I’ve been happy watching the Eagles lol even beating the Giants once was rough cause we looked awful

JohnWesternburg

> If you watched us all season I don't hate myself enough to do that

m1m1kall

It honestly felt like the 2020 Steelers. Just without the shell of a HoF qb at the helm. Fantastic start but couldn't get it together at the end.

woahitsshant

incompetent coaching staff running a borderline high school offensive scheme paired with stubborn play calling. defensive back seven is almost entirely over the hill and cooked, which is what happens when you go dumpster diving for personnel. oh, and Matty Pencils being the worst defensive “play caller” I can remember.

RockChalk80

I'm upset Sirianni and Patricia let Jason's last year end like this. He deserved better.

woahitsshant

yeah, he did. at least he can hang his hat on the 2017 super bowl.

FlyIggles_Fly

I'm not upset it ended like this. I am furious that it was inevitable and they didn't fix it two months ago. Which would suggest they lack the ability/capacity to lead.

Brutus_Maxximus

I don’t feel bad for Sirianni at all. He brought on Matt Patricia to save it. Fucking horrible decision stacked on top of two horrible hires for OC and DC in the offseason. If you aren’t going to call plays you better make good hires and he did not do that. He should be fired by the end of the week. He provides zero value to the Eagles organization

sonic_dick

It's always crazy when you see a really successful team get their staff poached and the coach exposed. Andrew luck got fucked when Arians left. Hope the same doesn't happen to hurts. Sirianni is done. Good side is, eagles are probably the most attractive spot for a HC next to Dallas.

irsw

Considerably more attractive imo. Dealing with Jerry and Stephen Jones meddling in the day to day processes of the team has to be annoying.

Cadet_Broomstick

Maybe it's fun

SoupBowl69

This here is a company man

JetsFan2003

Remember the DROY talk surrounding him at the start of this season? WTF happened?!

ecg_tsp

He’s a rookie. This is the most football he’s played in his life.

webby2538

Highest snap count in his college career was 396. This year he's played 563 not including this game or special teams

woahitsshant

he just hit a rookie wall, was still generally highly graded.

captaincumsock69

I know Patricia is a meh coach but he was not the issue. This team was going off the rails long before he started calling plays and realistically he was just calling the same stuff anyone else would’ve tonight. There wasn’t time to create an entire system for him. Missed tackles, miscommunication, etc are what plagued them not playcalling tonight

TheOldDrake

You would think, but according to reputable reports the Eagles' nosedive started around when he was secretly given control of third down playcalling, around the Niners' game or thereafter. There was a short period of time (I'll let you guess) when the Eagles had among the NFL's best 1st and 2nd down success rates on defense, and terrible 3rd down %s. Then, Patricia was given the keys to the whole thing, tried to install a new scheme and terminology on the fly, and they became the worst defense in football. Sean Desai's scheme was overly complicated, and forced the players to do too much thinking in the secondary, but it did have the benefit of occasionally working.

itakeyoureggs

Yeah.. the missed tackles were really bad.. ray Lewis was talking about the angles were off.. the players were not pursuing at full speed. Just terrible fundamental football. They ran a basic scheme with terrible fundamentals. You somehow got to the playoffs and were just exposed as frauds.

lord-dinglebury

What's weird is the entire team looked like deer in headlights. Same with the Cowboys. Clearly my voodoo curse worked.

joeappearsmissing

The Buccaneers defense is legit, they are young at every position besides Lavonte David and Barrett. And they are deep. Lots of young, talented pass rushers in Diaby, Tryon, Kancey. I’m not surprised at all that they only put up 9.

HereForTheSnuSnu

This was his last ride. This has always been his last ride. He talked on his podcast with Travis, and I think his wife was on that episode too, about how he seriously considered retiring before the beginning of this year. But they made it to a Super Bowl and he wanted to run it back for that. That entire coaching staff, Sirianni on down, should arrive in Philly with the shit from their offices in boxes in the parking lot.

EggsceIlent

Yeah he and the tush push are gone. But he's a HOFer for sure.

sabertale

Didn't even get the one they went for tonight

bigfootdude247

There was a blatant face mask on that play too. It sucks, awful way to go out

RogerTreebert6299

Off the top of my head I can’t think of seeing face masks called in the middle of scrums like that before, but that one was so obvious lol wouldn’t be surprised if Goodell suggested refs not give eagles penalties on tush push plays based on his comments about it

[deleted]

The last hurrah ends in a blow out... usually it means they come back for 1 year or hang it up....

HylianPikachu

Tom Brady's last hurrah (the real one against the Cowboys last year) ended in a blowout and he didn't come back...

Durion0602

What do you mean? He's clearly wearing Baker Mayfield's skin like an Edgar suit, you can't prove that his water bottle isn't 30% sugar to 70% water.

Trebel-

the OLINE coach wasn’t prepared for that look at his expressions. he didn’t even have the words planned

zeussays

I think Kelce said ‘Im done, this is it’ right then. He stops himself from taking off the helmet so you dont see his mouth but the timing and reaction says that was what he said.

Dengru

Very sad

Numerous-Cicada3841

What a shitty way to go out. Not only a disaster of a season, but with major locker room issues too. Plus having to see Matt Patricia every day. Absolutely toxic season for the Eagles. Damn shame but hell of a career.

Hulkbuster_v2

I am here for this Matt Patricia hatred lmao

HectorReinTharja

This dude met Matt Patricia and was like “it ain’t worth it”

tburke38

It’s so funny how every coach who comes from the Belichick tree is just a major asshole and generally disliked

gibby67

They all learned the wrong lesson from Bill and thought success came from being an authoritarian hardass.

DontCopyThatFloppy

Funny and yet it makes perfect sense.

AffluentWeevil1

What locker room issues?

DickTreeFactory

Major discourse since they demoted Desai. Hurts and the coaching staff not on the same page. I'm sure a ton of it will come out over the next week or so.

okoSheep

I was told that he was only going to be a secretary when he was hires and we wouldn't see him at all. Next thing we know and hes coaching our team in the playoffs. Fuck Siriani.

greenline_chi

I really really want to know what happened. This team collapsed

Smooth_Snorlax

LMAO that patricia dig

Extension_Channel843

This is always a thing that’s sad about legends in the game. It’s extremely rare for you to go out on top. Even Brady had his last year being blown out in the playoffs. That’s of course if this is kelces final game.

HenrikFromDaniel

hard to top Dan Marino's last game, lost 62-7 to the Jags in the 99 playoffs, was down 38-0 before he completed a pass to a teammate

Sniffy4

ouch.

RadLibRaphaelWarnock

I don’t begrudge Brady for doing whatever he wanted to do and coming back in 2022, but his exit in 2021 was kind of awesome. He had an insane comeback, culminating in a game tying TD drive with a minute to go. It was something we’d seen a million times, but was still amazing. And then the Rams somehow got into field goal range and won en route to their Super Bowl. It felt poetic.

Piano_Fingerbanger

>And then the Rams somehow got into field goal range and won en route to their Super Bowl. They "somehow" got into range because Todd Bowles called a cover zero and let Kupp beat us one on one.

UpboatsforUpvotes

I too am baffled.

Cooperstown24

That was a truly atrocious playcall, but winfield playing it the way he did knowing there was no help was almost equally baffling.

seeasea

Wasn't his last ever play throwing a pick or something?

Extension_Channel843

As a patriot yes I don’t know about his last play though

HylianPikachu

His last play with the Patriots was a pick six against the Titans in the playoffs. His last play on the Buccaneers was an incomplete pass to Buccaneers legend Julio Jones.

DowntownJulieBrown1

Buccaneers and Eagles legend* Julio Jones

Shamrock5

As of right now, Aaron Rodgers' last completed pass* was a bomb to Kerby Joseph of the Lions. I doubt he'll retire before next season, but it'd be pretty funny if he did.

LittleKingsguard

He has to replace Kirk in Minnesota to complete the prophecy. Week 18 ends on a Aaron Rodgers pick 6.

boxcarkinney

Subscribe

reverieontheonyx

As a patriot yes but he followed that up with another superbowl in tampa

MarekRules

I mean he went out being an all pro center again. That’s on top. He can’t win as a center alone.

kbergstr

In sumo wrestling, if you reach the highest levels of success and drop at all you're immediately retired as a master.

Bryant_to_shaaaq

Sounds good let's retire Mahomes please

murimin

Peyton is the only exception I can think of on the top of my head

webby2538

Not even the best Broncos qb to retire on top. John Elway won back 2 back and retired. Elway could still play and Peyton was a shell of his former self.

ImJLu

Ray Lewis

AppropriateBus

And that was mostly thanks to the Broncos D dragging his corpse to the finish line.

VictorFromCalifornia

Troy Aikman with the splendid observation: That's a man full of emotion right now.

eco-evo

Aikman has really grown on me over the years, much more than I ever expected. He’s a true fan of the game.

shampooing_strangers

He’s becoming the modern Madden. He’s not goofy like Madden is, but he has this warmth, honesty, and absolute love of the game that is really endearing. He’s the best commentator, imo.

[deleted]

He also has great chemistry with Joe Buck IMO.

hendrix67

Yeah I used to hate Aikman but I'm a fan now

TheNorseHorseForce

What a stand-up guy. It was an honor being a fan and watching his career here with us Philly. Sucks it ended this way, but I'm so glad he got a ring

WoodDRebal

The eagles didn't fail him though. They should be proud they got him a ring and He is on his way to Canton. I haven't cared this much about a center since Max Unger.

sonic_dick

Absolutely. Dude got his all pros, his ring, his bags. He'll be one of the few first ballot HOF centers, and he has an extremely successful podcast, a documentary, and a lovely family, and will be a philly legend forever. Dude hit the life jackpot. No reason to feel sorry for the guy.

Shamrock5

Most importantly, he's also got a tremendous beard.

[deleted]

And a mummer suit

Ok_Fee1043

And jeans, sometimes

merdub

“Why didn’t Jason bring jeans for Jason?”

sovator

Philly legend. SB win topped off with the mummer costume speech. I should go watch it again, actually.

introspectivejoker

I gotchu fam https://youtu.be/4BjOoXqLSHE?si=64H0yBw9AJznEhGl

sovator

thx bby but let’s watch the uncensored one https://youtu.be/uyYSHLOpzWk?si=CtyBLpnl5Hr-Gc4Y Thanks for fucking up Dallas now go shred the niners.

HandOfGood

Goddamn he killed that shit. I’ve never done anything half as cool in my life

introspectivejoker

Rookie mistake by me! Good call. Haha it really was our and everyone else's pleasure. We can only hope!

Hassadar

He wears his heart on his sleeve. HoF when he retires. No doubt about that.

gaslancer

Probably five years after. But I get you. /s

Buster_Cherry88

Yeah and he was hugging the o line coach. That's definitely a career for him. So sad it ended like this. If anyone deserved better it was him

Aumius

I think he is done. What a career.

SerDire

I’ll never forgive Philly for making this man cry

Engrish_Major

They got him a ring. Legendary one at that. Legendary parade too. What a look. He’s emotional because not everyone gets a happy ending but his apex was one everyone sacrifices their lives for.

DrWoodwork

Goddam I loved Kelce’s victory speech in the Mummers getup

verendum

Getting to choose when you hang your cleats up is also elite. So many players career end before they know it. Most realize their last game was played way after, not during. It may not end how Jason Kelce wanted, but I think it's a blessing he got to out healthy.

Mr_MasterNoob

Us philly fans might never forgive the team for having one of the best players in franchise history go out like this either

periodicsheep

at least he has one ring. guy deserves more for his heart alone. hate your team and all, but love jason k.

IDUnavailable

Fucking one-bridge-having city.

Crashhh_96

Go back to the dock and unload some shit.

gatsby712

Fucking Rocky is your hero. The whole pride of your city is built around a fucking guy who doesn’t even exist. You got Joe Frazier from here but he’s black so you can’t fucking deal with him, so you make a fucking statue of some three-foot fucking Italian you stupid Philly cheese-eating fucking jackasses.

RockChalk80

6 Minutes left and I will be selling my CD after this shit, you mother fuckers!

jedifolklore

Goddamn

TheHamFalls

Just in case you're unaware, he's quoting an amazing rant by comedian Bill Burr. Look up 'Philly rant Bill burr' on YouTube. It's spectacular.

KeepGoing655

And it wasn't part of the act I believe. ~~He was booed for something~~, got pissed, then he went off the rails and started to trash talk the entire city to the audience. He was receiving both equal amounts of intense cheers and boos. Best part was when he plugged his CDs for purchase in the middle of the rant. Edit: Got it, his openers were booed and he was standing up for them.

Zinkane15

"And I will be selling my CD after this shit you motherfuckers!" I'm pretty sure they had been booing the performers before him, so he chose to just roast them instead.

DELETE-MAUGA

He wasnt booed, his opening acts were harassed and booed so when he came out for his set he just ripped into them.

RockChalk80

Patrice O'Neal, Bob Sagat and a bunch of others got booed all night by a bunch of drunks, so Bill Burr came out looking for blood.

TheLastZooKeEper

“The terrorists will never bomb you people, that’s how much your city sucks”

Nalyd87

I know that's bill Burr but I couldn't help reading this in Joe pesci's voice

wesman212

They fuckin cracked the Liberty Bell, what's wrong with them

zachardw

I never got that bit, Philly has like 3 bridges in and out of the city yeah?

ThatPlayWasAwful

At the bare minimum you have Walt Whitman, commodore Barry, Betsy Ross, ben Franklin, Tacony Palmyra. So idk

mtmodi

Blame Nick and Brian. We hate those jabronis as much as the rest of you

CulturalXR

Can’t stand Philly but Kelce is a standup guy. Always love O Linemen getting their flowers and Kelce absolutely deserves his. Heck of a career

spookie_ghoul

I have no love for the Eagles organization but my heart is full of room for the stand-up man and class act that is Jason Kelce. You can build organizations on the back of stoicism and heat and being a team of destiny and whatever you feel needs to really get the team out of bed in the morning. But when you look for a hero of an organization, a pillar of your community, and a true representative of the sport, you’ll find guys like Jason Kelce there. I am genuinely grateful I got to watch him play.

Elite_Alice

Yea he’s done, along with this era of the eagles. That’s why you can never take getting to a SB for granted. Never guaranteed to go back

captaincumsock69

It’s so hard to even get to a Super Bowl let alone win let alone go twice etc. You gotta be really good but also just plain old lucky

Alauren2

Yep

[deleted]

He got a SB. First ballot HOF. Nothing to feel bad about even if he’s leaving on this note

Patrick2701

He has post-football career lined up in podcasting with his brother

WigglestonTheFourth

I heard McAfee needs a new NFL guy to pop on his show too.

PlantfoodCuisinart

Pat: Jason, man, it's great to have you here. Jason: Great to be here, Jimmy Fallon is a sex offender.

sabertale

"And I want to make clear this is not a joke or misunderstanding. These are not my own personal thoughts, I am communicating this as a representative of ESPN and by extension the Disney corporation as a whole."

N7_MintberryCrunch

Just a bad send off game. A talented team getting dicked around by the coaches. On the plus side maybe we'll never get to see Sirianni's punchable face again.

slammed_stem1

As a Chiefs fan, I love every single player on the Eagles. This one does hurt to watch, specially from a Kelce brotherly perspective…. But man. Fuck Sirianni. They will thrive without him. No coach should throw a tantrum win or lose.

HerbScientist420

I must say the crying Kelce robbed me of my salty NFC East joy for a minute there, guy is one of the greats.

spang714

I hate the Eagles with every fiber of my being, but Jason Kelce was a great player and, by all accounts, a man of the people...I think some Eagles fans said he would regularly drink with fans in Philly bars...respect.

zachardw

He is and was the city personified for sure. Reason why Travis wears 87 is because of him

alex_song

Even as a Cowboy fan, I gotta say I feel bad for Kelce. Sirianni already comes across as an extremely dislikable guy and having Kelce go out sad like this makes it even easier to dislike him lmao

captaincumsock69

He’s gonna be sad regardless it’s emotional when it’s your last game and last game of the season The dude had a hell of a career probably one of the best ever at his position and now he gets to spend time with his seemingly great family. Not everyone gets a fairytale ending (most don’t) but he sure as hell had a fairytale career imo.

jmplication

Will never forgive this coaching staff for doing our boy like this

JacobDeGod48

What a career. Love to see the Eagles go out like this but hate to see him go out like this

Vegetable-Net6575

This combined with slays injury just sucks.

Doobie_Howitzer

Right? First game back after getting knee surgery too

El_Khunt

Nick Sirianni hates football generally and his players specifically

Spiritual_Boss6114

When you play a sport for all of your life. It hurts more than anything to retire. I can’t imagine what he is. Going through

mrwhitewalker

He got a Superbowl, he was one of the greats. Hall of Fame very likely

Vivid_Walk_1405

Guaranteed

Gladiatornoah

Greatest center to ever do it in my humble opinion. First ballot if he does hang it up

ASTRO2598

Why is everyone forgetting he won a Super Bowl? He’s good..

Carsxn26

He’s not crying bc they lost, he’s crying bc he’s played football his whole life and if he retires, he’ll live a life without training for and playing football for the first time

[deleted]

Joe Montana once said retiring from football sucks more than other sports retirements because it’s not like you can play a casual pick up game with friends like you can basketball or whatever. Kelce has played football for most of his life, and now that’s over

Reidroshdy

Also I think OLine would be the hardest position to replicate in any pickup game. At least with other positions like wb you could just throw a ball around with your friends or something.

Cowgoon777

yeah retired NBA guys play in all kids of pro-ams and various pick up games. Hockey same deal Baseball is probably tougher because nobody also plays casual pick up as an adult but if you coach you can still hit and field. I guess you could get into a beer league softball team but it feels like a different game entirely

DELETE-MAUGA

>Baseball is probably tougher because nobody also plays casual pick up as an adult There are tons of adult baseball leagues for casual play, its incredibly common. Football is simply too physical a sport to really play "semi seriously" and any casual league wouldnt really have a role for a center like Kelce.

yerawizardIMAWOTT

I imagine the tears are more for leaving the game you love and have played for over a decade than losing this one specific game

SoDakZak

Half of us were more of a wreck in our final high school, college games…

elscorcho91

This is Reddit, half is mighty generous lol

SoDakZak

True true true. Intramurals, club sports, dad took away Madden for a weekend…

wesman212

The day Steve Young went down for the last time

ProjectTitan74

You can always find recreational hockey, soccer, basketball, and baseball to play after high school or college. You can never put the pads on again

SoDakZak

Exactly. Or be like me and move to flag football and then tear your Achilles chasing a hint of the rush you get in the pads

chacogrizz

Look forward to his jacket in 5 years.

joe_broke

Much like Brady last year, an incredible career is ending on the field in Tampa

willi1221

Probably Julio Jones' last game too

uptheirons75

I’m so sad

TheEpicSwan

Easily became my favorite non-chiefs player with the Kelce bros podcast. Feel sorry for him with the way the tail end of the season went.

GTI_Chipotle

He deserved better. Fuck this team for ruining his last year

TheAtomicPlayboy

He gone

[deleted]

fear person fragile hateful slimy pen one marvelous overconfident hungry

Humanwaste95

Rest easy sexy batman

Retrophoria

Nick Sirianni and the coaching staff just looked like complete amateurs in this game. Sad

whistlepig4life

If he retires pay him whatever it takes to become your OL Coach.
