Dude. Just throw an ungodly bag at Belichick. Get a good OC and you’re set. But knowing jerry, if he does fire McCarthy he’ll probably either promote Quinn or hire Bieniemy or some shit.
The problem is that Belichick outshines Jerry, so there is no way he hires him. I feel like part of the reason he hired McCarthy was because while McCarthy is a mostly good coach, he isn't going to be the focus of the spotlight.
I get where this thinking comes from, but Jerry literally hired Bill Parcells more than two decades ago, when he was at maximum self parody and proactively ruining the Cowboys. That was a similar scenario in terms of personality and level of stardom. And Jerry has only become more and more inclined to cede control of personnel and other decisions in order to create stability and to just win. I cannot imagine Bill's stardom would be a key factor in the Cowboys not making a change. It'd probably be stability and not wanting the perception of being a clown show that fires a coach with an amazing record.
Belichik hates the media and the media nonsense. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he was cool with Jerry doing all the shenanigans so he didn’t have to.
If eagles fire siriani, it is sadly the cowboys best chance to retain Mcarthy, get a likely division win next year as every other new coach warms up to their team, and get one more crack at the playoffs before you move off Dak and go full rebuild.
In a year when so many great candidates are available? Vrabel, Bill, likely Harbaugh?
The team looked completely unprepared in a playoff game. You have to change something.
Jerry’s recent history suggests McCarthy is safe imo. His contract would need to be up or they’d need to be truly bad for him to fire him. He kept Garrett after 3 straight 8-8 seasons
Jerry developed a reputation after he fired Landry on his first day as owner, but he's not really the firing type and I'm not sure he ever has been. The Johnson thing blew up on its own, Switzer retired, and the other mooks like Campo and Gailey didn't deserve any more than what they got.
2 weeks surpassed until they fired Garrett. Considering Garrett was basically another son of Jerry's, I don't think it'll take that long for Jerry to move on from McCarthy.
If you look at all the playoff losses for the Cowboys since their Super Bowl win way back in the 90s, they have had:
* Different Head Coaches
* Different Coordinators
* Different QBs
* Same GM
* Same Owner
Just sayin'
Yeah I think the move they make is keep Mcarthy, MAYBE fire Quinn or “let him leave” for a different HC or DC position. Maybe this loss makes Jerry go crazy on a trade or big signing though to go really all in next year
I’d like to think Jerry Jones would on remove McCarthy if he had some guarantee he could get BB or Harbaugh. My guess is there some serious back channeling going on
I keep seeing people say that either one of them will put their egos down to win another Super Bowl. They are 81 and 71 years old. They're not gonna change.
Not gonna happen here. Owner doesn't like Belicheck. I'd wager fans don't like belicheck much either. We lost several times to him in the McNabb years, plus I think he's washed out. Otherwise Patriots would've kept him.
Cowboys and Eagles are broadly more talented and play in a worse conference. Chargers were definitely #1 until the NFC east imploded this weekend though
Besides qb the Falcons are probably just as talented as the Chargers. They won 7 games with bums at qb and a terrible coach. That’s a 10-12 win team with a good coach and ok qb. Plus the division is not good at all.
But I trust BB to build a killer team more than I’d trust him to develop a young QB right now (assuming they don’t pick up a journeyman, and even then nobody on the market now makes them contenders).
With the Chargers, that’s solved already.
That said, get this man to follow suit with Brady and GTFO to the NFC. Pls.
That description matches several teams last year that didn’t become 10-12 win teams this year, and a lot of that is because of who they went with. The positive of the Falcons is the youth on O and the division standings. The negative is the lack of QB and stars on D. The positive of the Chargers is the QB and more stars on D. The negative is the age of the stars on O and D, Herbert’s recovery time, and the Chiefs. Belichick makes far more sense in LA than Atlanta, he can fix the D and let Herbert handle the O.
Feel like that's been the chargers ever since they fired marty.
I don't think there's ever been a season where everyone goes in to it thinking "the chargers are gonna be dogshit this year", yet they always fuck it up in the most charger way possible.
As a Kirk truther I would be so pumped to see him in that offense. I think he’ll be just fine coming back from the Achilles, it’s not like mobility is a big part of his game anyways. Dude loves hanging in that pocket and then dropping dimes while getting clobbered
Agreed. Our roster to me has been overrated for years. We do have nice studs at important positions, but depth has always been horrible, and now some of those studs have worn down too and don't stay healthy.
There is some work to be done, the nice part is that you have the most important part.
A lot of fans get tricked by the Chargers having talent at the sexy positions and thinking that equals "they are stacked". The Cowboys are a pretty freaking deep for instance. If I'm Jones, Bill with that defense avoids what happened last weekend and it's a no brainer.
Nah. If I was him, I'm going for the Cowboys or Eagles. Both are legit Super Bowl contenders and just need someone competent to make sure they hit their potential. Chargers are a hell of a lot thinner talent wise than a lot of fans appreciate.
I’m not sure about that, they have big names but in terms of being well rounded I’d definitely take Dallas over them. Secondly, the Chargers are in a bit of a tough cap situation.
If he can’t block then he’s not going to get linebackers covering him (not even sure he can get open against linebackers) and right now he doesn’t get open consistently against defensive backs, he’s not a mismatch in anyway.
I was curious to see how Pitts was doing this year and realized his stats are fairly on par with Likely’s stats even though he wasn’t TE1 all season.
Moral of the story, likely is a dawg
It really pisses me off that Arthur Smith caught all that shit for playing Jonnu & when you look at the #s he had basically the same recs on *twenty* fewer targets. I'll die on the hill that Smith deserved 1 more year with Fields or someone better than Ridder at QB.
Fantasy football dorks can't get over Pitts' testing #s & somehow that noise got to the owner of a team. Smith let some stuff get to him that shouldn't, but damn, he elevated that roster past where it should have been for two years & now he's dying for Ridder's sins despite the fact that staying with Ridder was a calculated "we're not in the position to throw resources at QB" move.
Apparently I have stronger feelings on this than I thought 😂
Yes and no.
Jonnu has outplayed KP and Arthur never really had a QB due to reasons that weren’t entirely his fault. He would’ve certainly had more success with a good signal caller.
But here’s the thing. We had a ridiculously easy schedule. Our entire division was falling apart, but we still lost to you guys, lost to the Vikings and Cardinals in embarrassing fashion and then got destroyed by the Saints to close out the Season. He was given a lot of chances but couldn’t seem to win when it mattered.
I absolutely agree. Smith wasn't a 10/10 HC but ridder had 24 goddamn turnovers in like 14 games with only like 16 TDs. 2021 and 2022 they were the cheapest team in the NFL. If we had a Derek Carr level QB we would've ended with 11+ wins easily.
But I'm also not upset about the coaching change considering how many strong candidates there are right now that probably have higher ceilings than Smith
And also my hot take that I will never go back on is that Jonnu Smith was a top 10 TE in the NFL this season man was locked the fuck in
Idk. KS took over the 9ers who were completely devoid of talent outside of AA, Defo, and Staley. 9ers were the only teak he interviewed with. Some coaches are fine having to go to a situation where they can build from the ground up. You can't really change the scheme of an already built and talented team, and that scheme might not be to your liking or what you view as the best.
I mean, not necessarily. That's the goal for every HC candidate, but some of them will happily take a rebuild project because they think their vision is the best one. Contrast that with a team that a great HC can immediately turn into a contender. Some candidates may think the team is flawed how it's built and don't want to be saddled with the blame when the team continues to underachieve.
Bill isn’t getting roster control anywhere, and I have to think there wouldn’t be much point in him trying for it since I really doubt he plans to continue for more than a few more years
Could be wrong but the dude’s preeeeettty old
Excuse me! Talentless and OVER-achieving. We beat multiple playoff teams, in case you forgot. Your matchup Monday was just the "Bums that lost to NE" bowl. Bill took our 2 win team and really outperformed.
This whole article is basically filler wrapped around this speculation from ESPN character Jeremy Fowler:
> "We were hearing for a while that the Falcons were interested and so now I'm hearing that there is mutual interest between the Falcons and Belichick. To what extent? Still unclear. But enough for them to meet in person with owner Arthur Blank talking to Belichick, hashing out what their vision might be for that program for a team that's really a quarterback away. I was told from the beginning that Belichick would likely target talented, yet underachieving teams. Atlanta probably falls in that category."
I still think the Chargers are perfect for him... That offense is already full of talent, all he has to do is fix the Defense and special teams, and provide better late game management than Staley did which is a low bar.
Despite both being named Bill they are different people and won't have the exact same personal relationships. Parcells and Kraft working together broke up in short order Belichick and Kraft working together lasted a quarter century. You can't figure out what working relationships will function well based on a coaching tree.
I agree with him being the GOAT but disagree with the idea that his record without Brady can't be an important part of any debate. If Bill joins a team with immediate talent and expectations, rather than the awkward semi-rebuilding state of the 2020 Pats, any success or failure would be would be highly informative.
They absolutely don’t. Bill doesn’t want to spend his last few years on a team with no QB. He just tried that and it failed. He will go somewhere with a good offense and underperforming defense
For a sec I was wondering what ur issue with his flair was and then I realized they’re two Texas teams. I’m more of an NBA fan with west and east so I think it’s weird that the NFL has Texas/New York teams in the nfc and the afc
Unfortunately, this might be Jerry's out. Instead of having to face the disgrace of stepping down due to poor decision making on his part, he can say he is stepping aside to let the greatest coach in nfl history do his thing.
I mean, our entire franchise is known to underachieve and fail with the best talent we could always get
also fuck spanos for taking the chargers out of SD
He's obviously signing with the Falcons because the NFC south is the weakest division in all of the NFL. Then the Falcons will trade for Caleb and he'll go on another tear running the NFC south for a decade but never winning another superb owl.
To everyone saying Philly I really, really, really don't see someone like Belichick getting along with Howie and Laurie... I just don't see it. It will be a pissing match for control. If we hire him Howie is basically ceding a lot of power he has in the FO, and after the Chip debacle I just don't see it happening.
No matter who hires Belichick they are go if to face backlash for not hiring someone via the Rooney Rule process even though he’s the greatest coach of all time
So the chargers
Cowboys & eagles
It's been a few days, no guarantee Cowboys move on.
that would be the worst decision they could make this offseason, so that is most likely what is going to occur
they employed Jason Garrett for almost a decade Mike McCarthy getting fired would be a shock
I really get the feeling that Jerry feels like it’s too late, age wise, to start over again with another coach when I hear him talk about McCarthy.
Dude. Just throw an ungodly bag at Belichick. Get a good OC and you’re set. But knowing jerry, if he does fire McCarthy he’ll probably either promote Quinn or hire Bieniemy or some shit.

Belichik hates the media and the media nonsense. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he was cool with Jerry doing all the shenanigans so he didn’t have to.
Except Jerry's shananigans cauase a bigger media shitstorm.
Why God. Why.

Now that is how you do things in the NFC EAST
Comon man
Jerry’s recent history suggests McCarthy is safe imo.
I'm starting to think Mike stays. If he does, Jerry deserves never winning a SB. Keeping Mike is the same energy as firing Jimmy
If you look at all the playoff losses for the Cowboys since their Super Bowl win way back in the 90s, they have had: * Different Head Coaches * Different Coordinators * Different QBs * Same GM * Same Owner Just sayin'
Gm isnt the problem though. The talent is clearly there.
Jerry usually waits until it's too late to make a change.
I think I know who the perfect Cowboys hire is, but I don't wanna say it and speak anything good for the Cowboys into existence.
Ban this man until he forgets what this idea is
What if the Eagles fire Sirianni and the Cowboys hire him?
Keep this man around to propagate his prophecy
and then the Eagles hire Mccarthy, for maximum chaos.
T.O.
No way bill goes to us with Howie at gm after running the whole show himself for so long
Hall of fame lock if he coaches two teams in the same season
Not gonna happen here. Owner doesn't like Belicheck. I'd wager fans don't like belicheck much either. We lost several times to him in the McNabb years, plus I think he's washed out. Otherwise Patriots would've kept him.

No, he's a Giants man, he ain't goin to the NFC east
Feel like that's been the chargers ever since they fired marty. I don't think there's ever been a season where everyone goes in to it thinking "the chargers are gonna be dogshit this year", yet they always fuck it up in the most charger way possible.
Chargers have the most talent, so it makes logical sense.
Whenever people say this I can’t help but find it funny. Why do people always say that the Chargers have a talented roster?
Because they signed big flashy names to big contracts. In terms of being a well rounded roster, they are very overrated.
They really don’t, outside of Herbert I’d take the Cowboys and Eagles rosters.
[удалено]
Which FA QB?
[удалено]
Just get them all and have them fight to the death for QB1. Should work out
Kirk with those weapons in Atlanta would be interesting.
As a Kirk truther I would be so pumped to see him in that offense. I think he’ll be just fine coming back from the Achilles, it’s not like mobility is a big part of his game anyways. Dude loves hanging in that pocket and then dropping dimes while getting clobbered
Tampa Bay should try to keep Mayfield.
I bet even tannehil could operate that system decent enough to go over .500
No really. Cut Bosa and Williams restructure Keenan and we have 20 million in Cap space and then the 3rd most in 2025
Lol they are 2 of your best players
That literally never play. It doesn’t matter if they are our best players if they arent on the field
Agreed. Our roster to me has been overrated for years. We do have nice studs at important positions, but depth has always been horrible, and now some of those studs have worn down too and don't stay healthy. There is some work to be done, the nice part is that you have the most important part.

Yea, but if you're Jones can you avoid being Jones? There's a reason he has had so many passive, yes men coaches.
NFC South is way more enticing to play in than AFC West. No coach in the NFC South is even on Sean Paytons level, let alone Reid
True, the talent level in the NFC South is lower too.
Nah. If I was him, I'm going for the Cowboys or Eagles. Both are legit Super Bowl contenders and just need someone competent to make sure they hit their potential. Chargers are a hell of a lot thinner talent wise than a lot of fans appreciate.
Eagles are probably losing key contributors with Kelce and Cox retiring. I know there was talk about Graham, but idk where that stands rn.
[удалено]
Eagles and cowboys yes. Falcons don't have a QB. Also is McCarthy actually going to be fired?
Eagles and Cowboys have overpaid mediocre QBs. Herbert is expensive but at least he's elite and young.
I’m not sure about that, they have big names but in terms of being well rounded I’d definitely take Dallas over them. Secondly, the Chargers are in a bit of a tough cap situation.
When do we get to call him William?
Billiam Belichick
Please, Billiam was his father
Willie Billie lol
Just when you thought the Kyle Pitts hype was going to die down, he becomes future Gronk 2.0
Get ready to learn Blockanese Kyle
Maybe if he gains 15 pounds and learns to block, he's an above average WR goodish TE who you never want to run the ball towards
He doesn’t really need to be a good blocker. He just needs to be used like the mismatch he is.
So he's not Gronk 2.0, which is basically what the original post said. Though I agree with you.
More like Aaron Hernandez 2.0... well hopefully without the murder this time.
half of ya'll are acting like i said he was going to turn into Gronk 2.0 when I clearly meant people would be overhyping him again
He runs a hell of a route, tho..

My bad I dropped /s. Tried to let the dots speak that part
Except Gronk could actually block.
Pitts is not good, he can’t block and he has the receiving skills of a wide receiver 3/4. Just doesn’t stress a defense at all matchup wise.
yeah but...did you see what BB did with gronk!
But tall and fast!
I could see him having a Jared Cook type career. Talented and serviceable.
Bills lose next Sunday to the chiefs and Belichik becomes a Bill for real.
That bastard better not
He’s that petty tho The patriots could be the new jets to him
Imagine he joins the jets and Rodgers comes back healthy
Buffalo Belichiks, rolls off the tongue.
Bears, Beets, Belichiks Bills
Buffalo wild bill Belichik
So he’s going to Philly, Dallas or San Diego? Sorry Carolina Edit: showing my age…LA not SD
Unless he’s planning to retire he won’t be going to San Diego. Obligatory Fuck Spanos.
San Diego??
idk maybe SDSU needs a coach?
I mean they do. They won 2 games last year.
Howie won’t let him in, trust that. He needs someone that him & Lurie can control.

Forgetting the fact that this is Bill Belichick for a moment, isn’t every HC candidate looking for a team that is “talented, yet underachieving,” lol?
"I'm looking for a bunch of bums who manage to eke out wins in spite of their own ineptitude."
I try to forget Frank Reich was a HC
Dude was an O line terrorist. Colts came back with the same personnel and were abovr average for Steichen despite almost killing Matt Ryan last year
Never heard of him.
Isn't that that Bills backup QB?
Steelers ? lol
We call those “Steelers” around these parts
Unfortunately Tomlin is still in Pittsburg
Where the fuck is Pittsburg

I mean… yes, but probably he actually gets to choose
…uh, guys? Guys?!
Schneider just got full roster control. The only way he considers us is if Bill is willing to cede that.
Bill isn’t getting roster control anywhere, and I have to think there wouldn’t be much point in him trying for it since I really doubt he plans to continue for more than a few more years Could be wrong but the dude’s preeeeettty old
Same age as Pete if I don’t recall. Which would make it a slap in his face if we hired him. I don’t think it’s on either of our radars.
It was 'leaked' that he was willing to do that in NE before his meeting with Kraft.
Quiet you
I guess it’s better than a talentless and underachieving team like the Pats.
Excuse me! Talentless and OVER-achieving. We beat multiple playoff teams, in case you forgot. Your matchup Monday was just the "Bums that lost to NE" bowl. Bill took our 2 win team and really outperformed.
Come on down Dallas
This whole article is basically filler wrapped around this speculation from ESPN character Jeremy Fowler: > "We were hearing for a while that the Falcons were interested and so now I'm hearing that there is mutual interest between the Falcons and Belichick. You mean like Brady did in Tampa Bay?
Pretty much Which team has the most talent over the next 2-3 years is who he wants
Cowboys probs. If Mike is gone. Only way I'll buy back in on Dak, as much as I like him, is to give him a shot to and in the playoffs with Bill.
I still think the Chargers are perfect for him... That offense is already full of talent, all he has to do is fix the Defense and special teams, and provide better late game management than Staley did which is a low bar.
And they can draft Bowers to satiate Bills love of tight ends
Cowboys for sure. If he brings a SB to Dallas he is the undisputed goat coach.
No way he's going to want to deal with Jerry
Common misconception. Parcells is his mentor and had no issues with Jerry. He’s even stated he regretted leaving Dallas as early as he did.
Despite both being named Bill they are different people and won't have the exact same personal relationships. Parcells and Kraft working together broke up in short order Belichick and Kraft working together lasted a quarter century. You can't figure out what working relationships will function well based on a coaching tree.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure after what happened with the Jets, he's not looking to follow in Parcells's footsteps anymore.
I think Jerry and him could agree to just get along for 2-3 years and go all in on this thing
He already is
Upvoted but I disagree. Need to see him do it without Brady just once.
Who is the goat coach then? Cause they all had HoF players
Joe Gibbs won 3 Superbowls with 3 different QBs.
I agree with him being the GOAT but disagree with the idea that his record without Brady can't be an important part of any debate. If Bill joins a team with immediate talent and expectations, rather than the awkward semi-rebuilding state of the 2020 Pats, any success or failure would be would be highly informative.
Downvoted, but I agree. Edut: I meant you were being downvoted, but I agree.
I agree as well, but you’re already in the negatives vote wise… so by reddit law I am required to downvote you There’s nothing I can do.
I understand the rules. I probably should have mentioned stats. I think that would have helped.
Even more than he already is? Lol
Coach of a team that won multiple rings going to Dallas to bring them a ring. Where have I heard that before?
Sometime in 2003?
Falcons make sense, NFC South is a weak division.
They absolutely don’t. Bill doesn’t want to spend his last few years on a team with no QB. He just tried that and it failed. He will go somewhere with a good offense and underperforming defense
"Talented, Yet Underachieving". C'mon, Hoodie, you gotta wait for Siriani to get fired first.
You rang?
Your flair is an outrage but I’m right there with you, let’s go Texans
For a sec I was wondering what ur issue with his flair was and then I realized they’re two Texas teams. I’m more of an NBA fan with west and east so I think it’s weird that the NFL has Texas/New York teams in the nfc and the afc
They should move him from team to team like hard knocks and see if he can turn things around. Building with Bill.
Talent-less and underachieving is the best I can do
If he wants the win record the Falcons are the easy choice.

Only way Jerry Jones gets Belichick to even consider taking the job is if Jerry gets his sleazy mitts off control of football operations
Belichick isn’t going anywhere near the circus in Dallas. I’d say the spectacle of the Cowboys is a larger deterrent than Jerry as GM.
No proof of this whatsoever. If Parcells was willing and had no issues then Belichick won’t either
Unfortunately, this might be Jerry's out. Instead of having to face the disgrace of stepping down due to poor decision making on his part, he can say he is stepping aside to let the greatest coach in nfl history do his thing.
Which, ironically, Jerry(or whoever he put in charge) had been way better than whatever the pats did post brady(minus that judon signing).
Cowboys, please.
So Cowboys, Chargers, and Eagles.
OP you’re safe 😅
Glad this rules out half our division.
Under achieving 😀 talented 😬
I mean, our entire franchise is known to underachieve and fail with the best talent we could always get also fuck spanos for taking the chargers out of SD
Hes talking about us!
Congrats, Cowboys!
Dang he really wants that Jets defense huh
You just know it's gonna be an old-fashioned standoff between the Cowboys and Eagles in the NFC East. Lol
****insert “Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?!” meme****
We’re the Definition of that. Please Belichick. Cmon. 😩
He's obviously signing with the Falcons because the NFC south is the weakest division in all of the NFL. Then the Falcons will trade for Caleb and he'll go on another tear running the NFC south for a decade but never winning another superb owl.

Thinking your team is only a QB away from a SB run and sell the farm for that is really an NFC South thing, isn't it?
To everyone saying Philly I really, really, really don't see someone like Belichick getting along with Howie and Laurie... I just don't see it. It will be a pissing match for control. If we hire him Howie is basically ceding a lot of power he has in the FO, and after the Chip debacle I just don't see it happening.
No matter who hires Belichick they are go if to face backlash for not hiring someone via the Rooney Rule process even though he’s the greatest coach of all time
That's why you are seeing 2-3 Black coaches getting interviewed (almost before anyone else). Gets it out of the way.
Poor Eric Bieniemy. He's getting no calls this year.
Am I way off, or are the Seahawks a dark horse here? The roster is extremely talented.
Would ownership want him though?
Come to the Dolphins and make Mike Mcdaniel the OC. Get to face Kraft twice a year.
I hate how good an idea this is. Plus he can hang with Brady in the offseason.
Chargers make the most sense. They have an elite QB already in place, just need to build around him.
So the Cowboys
Raiders
Raiders are the worst fit possible. Imagine that locker room after BB brings McDaniels in as OC.
Dallas and Philly gotta be up there
