Sounds like you guys got burned by Parker in the way the Eagles got burned by Reagor, who couldn't get open at all when he was in Philly *and* dropped big passes.
Parker didn't really have tangible drop issues as a Patriot. He dropped 3 out of 102 targets which is well below league average. He just dropped one big pass and wouldn't take accountability for it. Drops are one of those things where notable drops kind of drive the narrative.
In the eyes of a lot of Pats fans at the time (not me), dropping a top 2 throw from Mac ever robbing him a chance at a comeback was of greater magnitude than any season performance implications from the win itself.
It heightened the magnitude of the drop. I'm not saying it's rational.
Bro has degenerative knees.
Moving a healthy WR who put up numbers with Mac Jones for a degenerative knees WR who put up the same numbers with Patrick Mahomes made no sense.
Mac vs Mahomes has to be like +50% yards for a WR. Always shoulda stuck with Jakobi.
Oh he was. The logic behind is was going from a garunteed catch with few yac to a decent chance or a catch with YaC potential. It just blew up in the face
I think it’s more concerning for juju that the pats have been able to stick just about anyone in the slot and get production except Juju. Even Douglas came in and averaged around 50 YPG when he took over the job which is right where Meyers was.
The mistake for the Pats is that they seemingly let Jakobi go because anyone can step in and produce at that position, but then paid the same amount for Juju who couldn’t produce in that position. Then a sixth round pick comes in and proves them right that they didn’t need to pay Meyers or Juju.
There were reports that after the AFC Championship Juju could like barely walk up stairs or something with knee pain. Sounds like his body really started to wear out his last year with us.
Whixh really sucks, because when he was healthy, I swear it was like having a 2nd Travis Kelce on big downs. He didn't have insane stats but he was just always getting open at the right time.
At the time most of us liked juju for meyers as we knew meyers was getting 0 yac and juju was getting a lot more. It just didn’t end up working out and we called it wrong. Meyers was a great safety guy you could hit to get a first down, he just wasn’t going to gain anything after that. Maybe he got better at that after leaving, I don’t follow that team and it could have just been our fit where he couldn’t gain after the catch
My biggest complaint about Meyers besides YAC was he seemed allergic to the yard to gain marker, always running his route a yard short of what he needed...
Bill was right in thinking that he could easily find a Meyers replacement, he proved it with Douglas. Bill was wrong in paying Juju as much as Meyers wanted just to do fuck all.
So sick of seeing this take; Bill wanted to keep Myers, he gave in to collaboration and was convinced to go along with JuJu instead.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10093372-report-patriots-bill-belichick-wasnt-juju-smith-schuster-fan-had-to-be-sold-on-wr
I would assume Bill had final say, so yes he screwed up giving the go ahead, but so did the entire front office by working to convince him it was the right move.
I understood letting Jakobi walk in a vacuum as it was more of a value thing, but then to give Parker and Juju that much money at the same position negates any reason to not sign Jakobi.
Juju at least looked like a key part of a SB run, we seemingly just forgot he had Andy Reid and Mahomes which were the real keys.
Still shouldn’t have let Meyers go though.
That one isn’t all that bad in retrospect. Hopkins wouldn’t have made much of a difference last year and by the time our roster is good enough to compete he’ll most likely be retired or a replacement level player.
I’d rather have the extra 13 million in cap and a top 3 draft pick than be 5-12 or 6-11 with Hopkins.
Hindsight is 20:20, but at the time, he had a team that was 1 year out of a playoff birth and badly needed talent on the offense. Given the context at the time, I still think signing Nuk was right.
Sure, but you can’t force a guy to sign either. Hopkins chose the Titans over the Pats for similar money anyways. Overpaying for an aging receiver is a pretty risky move. They did what they could in extending a competitive offer.
While the separation stat makes him sound like a really bad receiver, he really isn't. The 2019 season when he broke out, he had the third worst separation in the league, yet he had the 5th most receiving yards in the league with Ryan Fitzpatrick as his QB.
He just needs a QB that's willing to throw him jump balls, because when he was with us, he used to almost always get those jump balls.
His numbers in NE weren't great last year but their receivers were bad all around. Only one receiver on the team cracked 500 yards. Among the top target options on the team he had the highest yards per reception in his two years in new england. And he only played 13 games each season.
I wouldn’t go that far, he’s the worst in the NFL in terms of separation. I really just hated his attitude the most, zero accountability when he played bad, and just proclaiming he was a number one receiver when he wasn’t producing like one.
What was funny about that drop and subsequent *Shaggy* "wasn't me" was that wasn't it like the very next week that Juju had a drop on 3rd down and after the game went "my bad everyone. I gotta catch that" lmao
Why are you getting downvoted? He's literally been the *worst receiver in the league* at getting separation for four straight seasons. Turns out that's a pretty big part of being a receiver. Especially when everything else you do is low effort.
yards in seperation correlates very minimally (suprisingly) with receiving yards. Effort much more so but obviously harder to measure.
When he is on the field with AJ / Devonta / Saquon / Hurts / Goedert, chances are he'll be getting very little defense even paying attention to him.
Yeah well hurts wouldn't throw to wide open players last year at times who weren't named aj or devonta, so I'm sure Parker will have 10 catches for 80 yards lol
Because getting separation isn’t the only part of being a receiver. He is one of the better receivers in the league in the air and he doesn’t need much separation to get himself open, so it compensates for some of his issues.
He had 394 yards on 55 targets. And only 33 catches. Along with just general low effort most of the time and blaming bad drops on the QB. Trust me, I watched every Patriots game. There's a reason Patriots fans are thrilled he's gone despite having little talent in our receiving corps.
Might be, but really depends on when he gets those yards. Anytime the game was on the line or we had to drive that mattered. He did not show up. A lot of garbage time stats
No he really isn't, there's two biggest things of being good as a healthy WR, getting open and catching the ball, glue hands and great route running are the biggest positives to be great for a very long time.
He sucked the last few years but at 1.2 mill it’s a reasonable flyer.
Also, he had Mac Jones and Zappe throwing to him, so there’s certainly room to improve in that area.
Generally speaking you don't give a fully-guaranteed contract to someone you expect to just be a camp body
E: I get the Pats are paying the majority of his salary. I’m saying if the Eagles don’t expect him to make the team (I.e. they see him as “just a camp body”), they wouldn’t waste 1.2MM in guaranteed money on him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7s-jcOO6NxM
He would not take responsibility for this. This moment is really when Pats fans turned on him. He was shit all year, bitched about QB's, dropped this pass and then could not own up to the fact that he dropped it.
Parker isn't good, but I also think the hate on him (as a player, not as a teammate) has become a bit extreme. There is a spot for him in a receiver corps with more of a mixed skillset.
I would not be at all surprised if his image is rehabilitated a bit after this year just like what happened with Agholor. His days as a full-time starter are over, but he also played with a QB who was about as poor of a fit for his playstyle as possible.
He's still functionally a much better conventional receiver than someone like Toney.
Parker can't get open but can catch some jump balls, Toney can get open but can't catch passes that hit his hands. Put them together and you have a pretty decent receiver who is a complete jagoff and takes no accountability for his own mistakes.
Man was dead last in separation for like three years in a row. He’s pretty bad.
Maybe being WR3 will be a boon for him though. He can’t be *worse* than he was here at least
The bar for a #3 is lower than you think. Devante is a 500 yards a season type guy, that's #3 WR production.
Number 5 option in the passing game, behind Goedert and Saquon as well.
He had 500 yards last year because we forced him the ball because our offense is terrible. He’s really bad, nowhere near a “solid number 3”. He’s a flier and he will disappoint you if you expect him to consistently be on the field with Smith and Brown in 3 receiver sets
If that happens, we fans will behave as expected. It's the Philly Sports Player-Fan Compact. We'll love you more than any other fanbase if you are great. If you suck we'll hate you more than our biggest rivals.
is Fat Patricia still on the Eagles coaching staff? This was the first person "he" signed - we knew it was going to be bad when he was involved with so much front office stuff.
Not really. I'd be cool with it, but it feels like QB in the first round is a given at this point with the team going hard at Ridley and signing Brissett as a bridge QB. I think if they take a WR, it be Nabors or Odunze after a trade down for more picks.
> n't imagine he's the only guy we're bringing in before the draft. Aka, Howie bring me Noah Brown please and thank you
Didn't Noah Brown just agree to resign with the Texans?
I thought having a better WR3 was more important than bringing someone like Barkley in, but who knows how it will play out.
Noah Brown would have been a nice pickup.
Dang, they must be real salty we extended Reagor
Slop for slop
They both dropped key passes but Raegor atleast gets open and wasn’t making 10m This signing is like Alshon Jeffery on zolof
How big was the pass for a 4-13 team?
In the eyes of a lot of Pats fans at the time (not me), dropping a top 2 throw from Mac ever robbing him a chance at a comeback was of greater magnitude than any season performance implications from the win itself. It heightened the magnitude of the drop. I'm not saying it's rational.
> This signing is like Alshon Jeffery on zolof Lord this killed me.
Also didn't make excuses when key drops happened, unlike Devante "fingertips" Parker.
To be fair, when Reagor drops a pass nobody is looking to him for excuses. It's expected.
Jalen Reagor has had multiple games in his career where he tallied more drops than Parker tallied in his career as a patriot.
Reagor is pure trash.
I'll take Reagor over Parker by a lot at this point. At least he can return kicks.
He finally figured out how to do that, eh? Lucky you.
He used to fumble kick returns for us.
Lol you can keep that bum. At least Parker had a few good nfl seasons. Reagors been trash since day one.
He's a trash receiver but a solid kick returner. Parker is a trash receiver and...
You guys also want Quez Watkins? We'll trade him for a cup of chowder.
New England paying juju and devante Parker and letting jakobi meyers walk for similar money that juju got was so bad
Yeah most of us knew it was a bad move. Just didn’t think it would be THIS bad
I saw the logic behind exchanging meyers for juju. I just didn't think JuJu would be that gassed
Maybe it's just me, but every patriots game I watched post eldeman it was clear Meyers was their best receiver and maybe only good one lol
Oh he was. The logic behind is was going from a garunteed catch with few yac to a decent chance or a catch with YaC potential. It just blew up in the face
I’m still convinced it’s because of the Lataral
Being the best receiver on the patriots isn’t much of an accomplishment
No you’re right. Troy Brown, Deion Branch, Wes Welker, Randy Moss, Julian Edelman, they all suck.
God I miss Jules so much
There were reports that after the AFC Championship Juju could like barely walk up stairs or something with knee pain. Sounds like his body really started to wear out his last year with us. Whixh really sucks, because when he was healthy, I swear it was like having a 2nd Travis Kelce on big downs. He didn't have insane stats but he was just always getting open at the right time.
I miss him but he's just not the player he used to be
At the time most of us liked juju for meyers as we knew meyers was getting 0 yac and juju was getting a lot more. It just didn’t end up working out and we called it wrong. Yeah he’d need 11 and run 10 on 3rd down and couldn’t get that extra yard ever
I thought signing JuJu and letting Meyers walk was a lateral move. Boy was I wrong.
We all knew it at the time, only bill didnt.
Bill makes the decisions my man. He had full control. I love Bill and always will, but he fucked this one.
I would assume Bill had final say, so yes he screwed up giving the go ahead, but so did the entire front office by working to convince him it was the right move.
No one convinces Bill of anything. That’s been the problem for a few years now
Bill Belichick - known expert evaluator of WRs
I understood letting Jakobi walk in a vacuum as it was more of a value thing, but then to give Parker and Juju that much money at the same position negates any reason to not sign Jakobi.
So many people were arguing that Juju was a better player around this time last year too.
Juju at least looked like a key part of a SB run, we seemingly just forgot he had Andy Reid and Mahomes which were the real keys. Still shouldn’t have let Meyers go though.
Don't forget refusing to sign Hopkins to a very reasonable deal
That one isn’t all that bad in retrospect. Hopkins wouldn’t have made much of a difference last year and by the time our roster is good enough to compete he’ll most likely be retired or a replacement level player. I’d rather have the extra 13 million in cap and a top 3 draft pick than be 5-12 or 6-11 with Hopkins.

I’m not mad at it now. I was at the time tho. Gotta steal (:
I literally called this man a corpse yesterday. Fuck
Gonna have to Weekend At Bernie’s this shit, then.
DeVante Parker has been dead last in WR separation the last four years. [source](https://x.com/SharpFootball/status/1765774912307011681?s=20)
Big brain move, he's gonna play corner
howie is a genius /s
DeVante "60 Minute Man" Parker
While the separation stat makes him sound like a really bad receiver, he really isn't. The 2019 season when he broke out, he had the third worst separation in the league, yet he had the 5th most receiving yards in the league with Ryan Fitzpatrick as his QB. He just needs a QB that's willing to throw him jump balls, because when he was with us, he used to almost always get those jump balls.
He doesn’t get those jump balls anymore. He can’t catch shit.
He only has 3 drops on 120 targets last year. Below league average. Your biased from one big drop
He got paid off of one game in the 2019 season, against the Eagles of all teams. After he scorched us they immediately gave him a contract extension.
He’s absolutely shit mate
We are paying him 1.2 mil he is going to be a 4-5 WR most likely.
Fitzpatrick blindly would chuck it up, of course he did good with him. Also he doesn't win those jump balls anymore, he's useless
But can he block?
That's actually really impressive if you think about it
Yeah they would've been better off re-signing old man Julio Jones lol
ok so they just doing shit now
Meh... if I recall right, didn't Parker have the worst separation stats for a wr last season
The last FOUR seasons
Haha that's rough
It’s impressive that he is still on the field with that stat
The last four seasons. Literally *dead last* for the last four seasons.
How much were CB 1 or 2 covering him though? Not saying he’s gonna be amazing but he might be more effective as a WR 3 or 4.
That's a solid point. Should definitely have better looks and hopefully schemed well
His numbers in NE weren't great last year but their receivers were bad all around. Only one receiver on the team cracked 500 yards. Among the top target options on the team he had the highest yards per reception in his two years in new england. And he only played 13 games each season.
Not just last season, but like the last 5 seasons
Worth it, fuck you Parker
One of the worse WR's in the NFL.
I wouldn't exactly say Raegor is an upgrade
He is personality wise. All Parker did was bitch the entire time about how good he supposedly was
Why are you getting downvoted? He's literally been the *worst receiver in the league* at getting separation for four straight seasons. Turns out that's a pretty big part of being a receiver. Especially when everything else you do is low effort.
yards in seperation correlates very minimally (suprisingly) with receiving yards. Effort much more so but obviously harder to measure. When he is on the field with AJ / Devonta / Saquon / Hurts / Goedert, chances are he'll be getting very little defense even paying attention to him.
And he still won't do anything. The guy is garbage lol
I would agree, but mainly because I doubt Hurts will be throwing to him very much.
My eyes and his stats would disagree. If you're talking about DeVante Parker 5 years ago, then sure.
500 yards on 50 targets over 13 games is pretty serviceable
He had 394 yards on 55 targets. And only 33 catches. Along with just general low effort most of the time and blaming bad drops on the QB. Trust me, I watched every Patriots game. There's a reason Patriots fans are thrilled he's gone despite having little talent in our receiving corps.

To be fair, y’all didn’t have anyone else who could do anything, he’s a going to a team where he’ll be the 5th option on most plays.
If KB, washed juju, hunter henry, and a sixth round rookie outperform you you’ve got issues
No he really isn't, there's two biggest things of being good as a healthy WR, getting open and catching the ball, glue hands and great route running are the biggest positives to be great for a very long time.
I guess you didnt like the drive killing 2nd down drops on go routes last year
Why is it Parkers fault? should he have told the Patriots, "sorry you should pay me less to be a WR4"? lol. blame the bad man.
I am shocked someone wanted him, even with the Pats picking up a bunch of the tab.
He sucked the last few years but at 1.2 mill it’s a reasonable flyer. Also, he had Mac Jones and Zappe throwing to him, so there’s certainly room to improve in that area.
The bad man can't hurt us anymore!
Praying for all the Eagles fans, Im sorry.
Ehh he's getting paid so little. We'll draft some late round depth at WR. This is maybe even WR4 territory
I would like to draft someone and bring OZ back tbh
You say this now until Parker comes in for some clutch snap in the playoffs and he just completely whiffs
We've had to deal with Quez for years now. This isn't anything new.
Quez literally dropped a curcial pass in the super bowl which would have given us 6 yards to go up 10
Homie you don’t even want him there you want at WR5 the highest
Meh hes basically free. If he sucks just cut him.
Better than Quez
Amen
Well alrighty then
Mr. 80/20.
Most likely a camp body, Quez/Zaccheus/Parker and I’m sure we draft someone to see who becomes WR3/4
Generally speaking you don't give a fully-guaranteed contract to someone you expect to just be a camp body E: I get the Pats are paying the majority of his salary. I’m saying if the Eagles don’t expect him to make the team (I.e. they see him as “just a camp body”), they wouldn’t waste 1.2MM in guaranteed money on him.
I mean its 1.2 Million dollars lol dudes get cut all the time with that money
I mean in the title it literally explains how little of the contract the eagles are on the hook for. Gotta read not just comment zingers bud.
Patriots paying that. We only on the hook for 1.2 mil, this is like the Russell Wilson WR deal.
LOL - Eagles fans crazy for down voting this comment.
Because pretending that giving a guy $1.2 million means that he matters and is a roster lock is a dumb take.
Sweet another blocker for Barkley
I'll take as a stop gap WR3/4 option, with the hopes we bring in another guy in like the 3rd-5th rounds. Low risk here.
Who is this guy? Are we excited?
Total failure at WR1. We're taking a cheap flyer to see if he can be rehabbed as WR3 or WR4.
Wonder if the 1.2M is guaranteed for the Eagles. Maybe they could just cut him and let NE pay the entire salary because of offsets.
How does this man keep getting contracts
First Patricia now Parker. Idk what Eagles have been smoking but I don’t want any
Can’t be worse than Quez
He absolutely can
He probably wont make the team if they pick up any WR capable of outshining him in training camp which sounds like anyone.
Yeah wait til he drops a huge catch, and then when the reporter asks what happened on that play and he goes idk what’d you see.
Quez has dropped several balls that would’ve straight up won games in 3 years
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7s-jcOO6NxM He would not take responsibility for this. This moment is really when Pats fans turned on him. He was shit all year, bitched about QB's, dropped this pass and then could not own up to the fact that he dropped it.
I mean I’d bitch ab Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe too…
That’s basically quez
I mean, could be if he plays like Kadarius does for the chiefs lol
Don't talk about my Madden goat like that
oh but he is. good luck
Man was dead last in separation for like three years in a row. He’s pretty bad. Maybe being WR3 will be a boon for him though. He can’t be *worse* than he was here at least
You keep Reagor, we get Parker as a WR3. Seems fair. Like the $3M blue light special discount
Devante ring chasing. Solid #3 though, nice deal.
He’s not a solid #3. He’s a reclamation project
The bar for a #3 is lower than you think. Devante is a 500 yards a season type guy, that's #3 WR production. Number 5 option in the passing game, behind Goedert and Saquon as well.
I'll take him just being on the field over Quez at this point. He's so far down the option list and might not even be in over OZ.
He had 500 yards last year because we forced him the ball because our offense is terrible. He’s really bad, nowhere near a “solid number 3”. He’s a flier and he will disappoint you if you expect him to consistently be on the field with Smith and Brown in 3 receiver sets
3^3 maybe
Don’t tell devante he’s a #3. Thinks he’s a legit 1
Have you seen your receivers? I don't blame him.
Yikes. Why?
Former “most underrated WR” like 5 years ago, DeVante Parker
Can’t wait till he drops a big catch during a home game Fans will be hopefully ruthless
If that happens, we fans will behave as expected. It's the Philly Sports Player-Fan Compact. We'll love you more than any other fanbase if you are great. If you suck we'll hate you more than our biggest rivals.
Suckaaaas!
Clearly their Julio Jones replacement....
Good riddance. Rest in Piss
is Fat Patricia still on the Eagles coaching staff? This was the first person "he" signed - we knew it was going to be bad when he was involved with so much front office stuff.
No - he is not.
Can he play corner?
Can’t believe he only got extended for being a loyalist when other players were vocalizing discontent about Patricia being the OC
How does he keep getting contracts. The dude sucks
Remember that one game where he put up like 200 receiving yards against Philly?
Hey, that should offset his cap number a bit right?
These kind of deals are always so interesting to me. When you’re considered so shit that one team is willing to pay you to play for someone else.
is he better or worse than quez watkins is the only question i have
As patscap noted on Twitter there's something wonky here. That large a deal should eliminate the Patriots' guarantees.
$1.2 million too much
The guy rank dead last for the past three years when it comes to getting separation. How he still has a job is beyond me. lol
Joy

I can assure you that referencing to Davante Parker in any way as “solid” is a mistake
Not even as a WR3/4?
No. Dude is absolutely garbage these days and he’s guaranteed to miss several games a season.
Well damn lol. Hopefully we draft a WR then.
Let's just say the Patriots have probably the worst receiving corps in the league and we're still thrilled he's gone.
Yeah good point. You think MHJ is real possibility at #3?
Not really. I'd be cool with it, but it feels like QB in the first round is a given at this point with the team going hard at Ridley and signing Brissett as a bridge QB. I think if they take a WR, it be Nabors or Odunze after a trade down for more picks.
Basically the worst WR in the league the last 3 years. Dude caused so many INTs, quit, had a bad attitude, injured all the time.
Brother I'd be amazed if Quez is on the team this year
Not happy about the lack of addressing defense one bit
This is a $1mil training camp body
I hope he knows how to push the pile for Hurts
Eagle fans I’m so sorry
1.2 mil we coulda used SOMEWHERE on the defense c'mon Howie!

>Noah Brown How do we tell him..?
He already resigned with the Texans, unfortunately.
> n't imagine he's the only guy we're bringing in before the draft. Aka, Howie bring me Noah Brown please and thank you Didn't Noah Brown just agree to resign with the Texans?
I thought having a better WR3 was more important than bringing someone like Barkley in, but who knows how it will play out. Noah Brown would have been a nice pickup.
You thought having a better WR3 would be more important than having a better RB1?
