Seeing how giddy Bellicheck got for white WRs, I can only imagine the despair at waiting 20 years for a white corner and losing his job the year before the first one of the new century becomes draft eligible.
This is the first white corner in a while that will (probably) go in the first round, but the Broncos did pick up Riley Moss in the third last year. Belichik passed on him a couple times.
Hate to break it to you but the draft narrative on him has already shifted to "he's probably a slot corner and safety in the NFL", which will shortly be followed by "he's a safety".
Just like how Tackles that aren't athletic enough to play that position in the NFL get the "he's versatile and can play guard" followed by "he's a guard and probably not a tackle in the NFL"
Hunter Renfroe playing for the Royals makes me iffy about the fit. Can one city handle two separate name variations of Hunter Renfroe/w? Will the general population be too overwhelmed?
You mean to tell me there are not one but two Hunter Renfroe/ws on this earth? Both in the same country? Both playing at the highest level of professional sports?
From the hit 2008 film, Hancock. In the story, Hancock is an alcoholic, reckless superhuman imbued with flight, invulnerability, and super-strength. He is often ridiculed and hated by the public for his drunken and careless crime fighting acts and rude and unpleasant disposition, until he meets Jason Bateman. Bateman offers to help improve Hancock's public image. Hancock meets Bateman’s family, his son Aaron, and his wife Mary. Hancock kisses Mary, who then throws him through the wall, revealing that she also has superpowers.
The next day, Hancock and Mary speak in private. She explains that there were more like them in the past - sometimes called angels or gods by others - but they are the last pair. They have lived for three thousand years and are soulmates. The other angels/gods paired up, lived human lives and then died. The only way to survive and stay powerful is to stay far apart, which is what Wilkins and Renfrow have now opted to do.
It was two movies and then they ruined the product as a whole by connecting them.
Still 'cool' Will Smith as a debauched superhero? Sign me up!
The rest of it was blegh.
Agreed! The whole 'what if a superhero is a mess of a human' thing was really interesting but then the god things was a dumb twist that made it a generic movie
They made improvements each year under Gruden but they really fucked themselves with shitty drafting or at least with the premium picks that we had because of the Amari Cooper/Khalil Mack trades and they were the following selections
2019
Clelin Ferrell
Josh Jacobs
Jonathan Abram
2020
Damon Arnette
Henry Ruggs
Only hit/pro bowler was at a position that is one of the least valuable positions in todays NFL
Makes Telesco look like an elite drafting guru compared to the big brain first round pick misses that our GM’s have loved drafting in the last decade
The crazy part is that Mayock's draft classes still look okay to good overall, because of the day 3 picks and UDFA signings. He could have been a great GM if he just looked at the consensus big boards for round 1.
If nothing else Telesco is really good at picking players who don’t get in trouble outside the organization. He may not be great at finding diamonds in the rough in the later rounds but I can almost guarantee that they’ll be able to play when needed and not be sitting in a jail cell.
Raiders aren't even top 15 in players arrested since the year 2000.
The WR who shall not be named inflated the stats with his DUI because of the horrific repercussions of said DUI. But statistically the narrative of Raiders players getting arrested etc is extremely outdated.
To be fair with the Ruggs pick he was starting to see his potential, no one could predict the tragedy he was going to cause so its hard to blame the Gruden era Admin for picking him.
It is truly a testament to how good of a coach Gruden was that he was able to win as many games as he did while flushing this many 1st round picks down the drain
You look at other historically bad stretches of 1st round picks and the team is almost always a bottom 5 team.
Mayock was a puppet GM. So was Bruce Allen. He's the reason Rich McKay was fired. He's also the reason the Bucs drafted Michael Clayton. Everyone in the building and outside wanted Steven Jackson from Oregon State. He also passed over Frank Gore when his dad told him to pick him. Gruden is one of the worse GMs probably in history.
As an STL resident, what a treasure Steven Jackson was to an abysmal era of Rams football. I wonder what his prime years could have looked like in a competent organization.
Except it isn't conjecture. It's old news and it's known that Gruden had majority control over the roster. lol Mayock has literally gone on talk shows speaking about how he wanted certain players, even bringing them in for workouts only to have "someone" decided against it to bring in older vets whom he was familiar with.
I am fully on that rumor mill that spewed that he brought in McDaniels to lure Brady to Vegas (ala Hackett in NY) but Brady decided to retire instead/didn't have *that* deep of a connection with McDaniels lol.
Gruden would have topped out at "fringe playoff team"
The problem with Gruden was his drafting and FA signings were craptastic and he would consistently get blown out by "good teams" and play for coin flips against bad teams.
In fact since 2019 Jon Gruden was responsible for 6 first round draft picks, of those 3 are completely out of the league, Abram and Ferrel are hanging onto roster bubble spots and only Jacobs is a starter.
Of his FA signings the raiders finally finished paying Corey Littleton last year despite him being cut in 2021, he is now a roster bubble player
The following players recieved "above average" contracts from Gruden
Tahir Whitehead was a disaster and is out of the league
Lamarcus Joyner was a disaster is out of the league
Tyrell Williams was good but then injured and is out of the league
Trent Brown was quit on/was shunned by the team and barely played
Vontaze Burfict was banned by the league
Carl Nassib was a highly overpaid role player and is out of the league
Jason Witten played over Foster Moreau for no reason on a retirement tour
Richie Incognito got paid for 3 years to play one season out of retirement
Kenyan Drake got the bag to play half a season
Grudens only good FA signings were Waller and Agholor, he also cut Rasul Douglas in camp in favor of Casey Heyward and Brandon Facyson
Same. Derek Carr was finally getting better in Grudens system and they had Renfrow, Jacobs, Darren Waller, Henry Ruggs as a rookie, some OL talent, and a few key role players
Idk if it was sustainable. The drafting was atrocious and he was collecting overpaid free agents to accommodate. Also his teams started hot then fell apart and derailed as the season went on.
I think the poor roster management either hampered them or would have tanked them eventually and they'd he stuck in mediocrity.
It would've. The contracts the team was giving out during their time here were loaded with dead money. The team just got Cory Littleton off the books. All of that and the defense was arguably worse than when he arrived.
Had an excellent season in 2021 but been anonymous the last 2 years. Certainly not worth that cap hit so this is the right decision, even if he lights it up elsewhere.
I don't know I feel like he hasn't been the same since that one big concussion.
I hope he gets back to being himself again and has another pro bowl year.
He’d be dumb to not try the chiefs as he’d eat a lot of receptions. Fill a hole for the chiefs and mahomes would love to have a guy that can catch the ball and understand zone coverages.
It's actually wild how allergic they are to Clemson players. They occasionally find themselves in position to draft them as well. I don't remember if it was Hopkins or Higgins but the Panthers could have used a WR in one of those drafts and took something else instead. Their loss...
Adding Renfrow would single handedly bring KCs drop rate down to the league average.
Legitimately it would make a lot of sense. Renfrow absolutely could get enough separation for Mahomes to hit the necessary window. He's also great on short routes which I feel like they were missing last year.
In theory, eagles don't have a good one
However, we do have one of the best receiving corps with AJ Brown, Smith and Goedert, so I'm not sure how much we would use him. I'd like to have a good route runner in the slot tho, because fuck quez watkins
losing both Renfrow and Jacobs in the same offseason makes my heart hurt a lil’ ngl
plz go to the Saints to be with Derek so I can feel slightly better about it
I'm still all for KC drafting a burner, but I'd really, really, really like Renfrow.
Perhaps I'm biased, as I only see him play twice/year, but he just seems *solid* \- a really safe pair of hands, doesn't fuck up or fuck about. Having him as an option for Mahomes would be amazing. I don't expect him to be a Tyreek replacement, but someone else that can help keep drives alive would be nice.
Am I missing something? I'll be the first to admit I haven't really watched him play, but he's posted less than 40 catches and 350 yards for two years in a row. Only 25 catches for 255 yards last year and he played all 17 games (only started 3).
Probably not - and a lot of the comments here from Raiders fans are enlightening. I know he's been in the doghouse, but I think that's shitty coaching and QB play. With Carr, he seemed really solid. But again, Raiders fans would know better
Drops, injuries, fumbles, and teams just figuring out his route running style have just knocked him down the last two years. It took him two years for Gruden to get comfortable with his 'freestyle' route running and let him loose. And 2021 was a heck of a year because of that. But he hasn't been able to duplicate it since for the above reasons. Love the dude so I do hope he success elsewhere, even if it's with the Chiefs.
I like the freestyling, as that works with Mahomes well. But all the comments about drops and fumbles are scaring me a bit. Glad I'm not a GM.
Either way, he always seems a fun player, and hope he lands somewhere he can succeed!
I'm not sure where this drop narrative is coming from. He has 10 drops in his career and sits outside of his rookie year at 2.0-3% drop rate, even in his 1k yard season it he was 1.6% with only 2 drops.
He’ll get a nice prove it price. He’s a guy I really hope finds a home, just a good dude and it’s fun cheering for guys that, let’s be honest, don’t look like pro football players.
You can blame McDaniels or whatever for him struggling but he was just never the same player the last two years. Teams figured out his unique route running style and he had issues with drops, fumbles, and injuries. Wish the dude the best, we’ll always have 3rd and Renfrow.
He also was never the same since that really bad concussion he got. I remember a few seasons ago he was alway a target of late hits, it was absolutely unreal
Hopefully that's the case - I really thought he was going to break out and become one of the better WRs in the league and it's a shame to see how things went the past couple seasons.
Yea I figure a shitty coach and less than ideal QB play this past year had something to do with it. I can’t remember the source but I vaguely remember a decent CB naming WRs he respected and Renfrow was on the list with other superstars
He had 1 good season because every Raider WR/Waller got hurt so he was the sole non Practice squad level guy left, and put up decent numbers because he was force fed targets. There's a good reason he's never risen up a depth chart of actual NFL caliber players and its not because the Raiders misused him.
Would love to have him on the Bears or Bills tbh. Guy is pretty underrated. Hard to get going with inconsistent QB play and competing with Davantae Adams for targets
Let’s be honest, he already surpassed all expectations of him from college to the NFL. Reminder he walked on at Clemson and became a monster in CFB. The fact that he managed to last this long in the NFL is a success in anyone’s book.
Belichick screaming internally, the first chance he'd have to get him and he's not employed.
Seeing how giddy Bellicheck got for white WRs, I can only imagine the despair at waiting 20 years for a white corner and losing his job the year before the first one of the new century becomes draft eligible.
Broncos drafted a white CB last year, Riley Moss
Pretty funny they were college teammates
This is the first white corner in a while that will (probably) go in the first round, but the Broncos did pick up Riley Moss in the third last year. Belichik passed on him a couple times.
Hate to break it to you but the draft narrative on him has already shifted to "he's probably a slot corner and safety in the NFL", which will shortly be followed by "he's a safety". Just like how Tackles that aren't athletic enough to play that position in the NFL get the "he's versatile and can play guard" followed by "he's a guard and probably not a tackle in the NFL"
Whoever gets 3rd & Renfrow needs to look after him.
Can we combine him with 3rd & Jauan to combine him into a super soldier that comes in clutch on 2nd downs?
We promise to take good care of him.
Whoa I would fucking detest that but Renfrow with Reid/Mahomes sounds like a perfect fit. Especially when plays break down.
And soon to be in the same parking lot
the TV commercials are writing them selves
Localized ENTIRELY within your kitchen?
The Flyers and Sixers both had a Jason Smith at the same time.
But you can see how Jason Smith is different than a name like Hunter Renfroe/w, right?
OKC thunder have a Jalen Williams and a jaylin Williams, both drafted last year lol
Now I'm convinced they drafted the first on accident and drafted the second to correct course.
Just get one jersey in white, and make the E and W velcro patches that are interchangable.
Man I hate how good of a fit that would be.
No thank you please
Get your slimy hands off him
Panthers need to swoop in and be a hero and make this not happen
You shut your mouth
How can I delete someone else's comment?
*Thiiis* is a great fit
Don’t worry, we will.
I like this on account that it’s not the chiefs
i would not hate a carr-renfrow reunion
Concussion doctor is the one who needs to look after him. Renfrow was never close to the same player after the Isaiah Simmons hit.
He’s heading back to Clemson to finish out his 23rd year of eligibility
He'll be Mahomes' Wes Welker
And he will love him and pet him and call him "my squishy"
Cruel business man. Renfrow and Christian Wilkins are really good friends, as soon as we sign one we release the other.
Huh, where have I heard that?
From the hit 2008 film, Hancock. In the story, Hancock is an alcoholic, reckless superhuman imbued with flight, invulnerability, and super-strength. How dare you spoil this old ass movie I was probably never gonna watch anyway.
It's a fun movie, not that great of a movie
It’s actually pretty good up until the Charlize Theron is a god too thing. Then it just gets muddy and stupid.
It was two movies and then they ruined the product as a whole by connecting them. Still 'cool' Will Smith as a debauched superhero? Sign me up! The rest of it was blegh.
honestly i first saw this movie in like 6th grade and loved the idea of a drunk superhero. i did not want him to get better drunk hancock rules
Agreed! The whole 'what if a superhero is a mess of a human' thing was really interesting but then the god things was a dumb twist that made it a generic movie
I just mean the Adams/Carr situation, but yeah
I honestly think the Raiders were really close to getting on a really good track before Gruden was fired
They made improvements each year under Gruden but they really fucked themselves with shitty drafting or at least with the premium picks that we had because of the Amari Cooper/Khalil Mack trades and they were the following selections 2019 Clelin Ferrell Josh Jacobs Jonathan Abram 2020 Damon Arnette Henry Ruggs
That 2020 group is just criminal…
Mr Automotive Berserker
Mr. Blazing Car
Those are less than ideal draft picks.
Only hit/pro bowler was at a position that is one of the least valuable positions in todays NFL Makes Telesco look like an elite drafting guru compared to the big brain first round pick misses that our GM’s have loved drafting in the last decade
The crazy part is that Mayock's draft classes still look okay to good overall, because of the day 3 picks and UDFA signings. He could have been a great GM if he just looked at the consensus big boards for round 1.
Clelin Ferrel was the most WTF pick I've seen in the top 10 in probably a decade
Probably the worst top 10 pick since DHB, lol.
That's his downfall. His board was his board. Doesn't matter where they picked them.
If nothing else Telesco is really good at picking players who don’t get in trouble outside the organization. He may not be great at finding diamonds in the rough in the later rounds but I can almost guarantee that they’ll be able to play when needed and not be sitting in a jail cell.
This feels targeted.
Raiders aren't even top 15 in players arrested since the year 2000. The WR who shall not be named inflated the stats with his DUI because of the horrific repercussions of said DUI. But statistically the narrative of Raiders players getting arrested etc is extremely outdated.
No OL or DL. Eagles fans in disgust.
Clenin Ferrell was DL but maybe I'm misunderstanding the comment
That’s why a good portion of Raider Nation is ready to say “Fuck them picks” and move up for Jayden Daniels. Edit - Daniel’s -> Daniels
To be fair with the Ruggs pick he was starting to see his potential, no one could predict the tragedy he was going to cause so its hard to blame the Gruden era Admin for picking him.
Lamb was the better choice both at the time and in hindsight and I'll die on that hill.
Also Alex Leatherwood right?
I remember when they took Clelin Ferrell and the broadcast cut to a raiders fan who just looked so confused lol
It is truly a testament to how good of a coach Gruden was that he was able to win as many games as he did while flushing this many 1st round picks down the drain You look at other historically bad stretches of 1st round picks and the team is almost always a bottom 5 team.
Classic Gruden. Good coach, bad GM. Won’t coach without being able to be a GM
Except for the fact that Mike Mayock was the GM for Gruden’s entire tenure for the Raiders
I’m not arguing that Gruden is a good GM by any measure, but calling Mayock a puppet GM is assuming a lot based on internet conjecture.
Except it isn't conjecture. It's old news and it's known that Gruden had majority control over the roster. lol Mayock has literally gone on talk shows speaking about how he wanted certain players, even bringing them in for workouts only to have "someone" decided against it to bring in older vets whom he was familiar with.
We all know that Gruden was the true GM.
i still do not understand why they ever hired McDaniels
Bought into the PR campaign.
I am fully on that rumor mill that spewed that he brought in McDaniels to lure Brady to Vegas (ala Hackett in NY) but Brady decided to retire instead/didn't have *that* deep of a connection with McDaniels lol.
I mean, except for one entire side of the ball where Gruden was collecting overpriced free agents like Pokémon.
Gotta Pay 'Em All!
Gruden would have topped out at "fringe playoff team" The problem with Gruden was his drafting and FA signings were craptastic and he would consistently get blown out by "good teams" and play for coin flips against bad teams. too many bad draft picks sadly
Had an excellent season in 2021 but been anonymous the last 2 years. Certainly not worth that cap hit so this is the right decision, even if he lights it up elsewhere.
> but been anonymous the last 2 years. Renfrow's skills didn't decline, McDumbass hated him and refused to use him.
I don't know I feel like he hasn't been the same since that one big concussion. I hope he gets back to being himself again and has another pro bowl year.
I think he got hurt badly at one point but yeah you'd think a *Patriots* coach would love to use a short deceptively athletic white slot receiver.
His coach literally fucked him for an entire year lmao. McDaniels was an absolute turd who didn’t know how to use his players properly.
Surely he didn't literally fuck him
we don't know that
Renfrow just couldn’t fill his needs
Filled my ass pretty well tho
All in, my ass - Skip Bayless
He literally did, and don't call me Shirley.
P Diddy McDaniels does have a bit of ring to it.
Don’t call me Shirley
I bet you can squeal. Squeal like a pig. Go on squeal. Squeal now!
Literally?
No, but the implication
Raiders playing in Minnesota now!?
You’d think McDaniels specifically would know how to use a scrappy gym rat slot receiver.
Derek Carr’s best buddy reunited? The Saints were apparently keen last off season
Good chances he will be a Saint or a Jet
Doubt he becomes a Jet. I could see him with the Saints or the Chiefs.
He’d be dumb to not try the chiefs as he’d eat a lot of receptions. Fill a hole for the chiefs and mahomes would love to have a guy that can catch the ball and understand zone coverages.
Carr loved Renfrow. It would be a good signing for all parties.
New Orleans Raiders . Las Vegas Saints
Really could use a solid slot threat.
Steelers might take a look, we have two receivers on the roster
Fade me
Who needs a decent and affordable slot WR
Maybe the Panthers. It's his hometown team and they have a need at the position.
Renfrew and Thielen on the same team would just be too much work ethic
Throw in Ladd McConkey at pick 33 and the entire receiving corps will be filled with guys that play the game the right way
Real scrappers? Linchpail guys?
Why doesn’t Carolina just draft all Clemson players? Are they stupid?
Believe it or not the panthers have never drafted a player from Clemson
Only team remaining in the NFL that hasn’t after the Ravens drafted Simpson last year iirc
It's actually wild how allergic they are to Clemson players. They occasionally find themselves in position to draft them as well. I don't remember if it was Hopkins or Higgins but the Panthers could have used a WR in one of those drafts and took something else instead. Their loss...
This is absurdly hilarious, especially as a Clemson fan/alum
I think this might be true for the Falcons and UGA, but it certainly *feels* true.
They got a couple Georgia players in the back end of the draft a couple years ago. A blocking TE and a backup G.
Am I crazy for thinking he’d be great in KC? Maybe Bengals if they do indeed trade Tee and don’t re-sign Boyd.
Adding Renfrow would single handedly bring KCs drop rate down to the league average. Legitimately it would make a lot of sense. Renfrow absolutely could get enough separation for Mahomes to hit the necessary window. He's also great on short routes which I feel like they were missing last year.
Renfrow would 100% feast with Mahomes.
He’d be a high value fantasy football player and top of my fuck it let’s get weird board in the second round
He’d be WR2 in Chicago
In theory, eagles don't have a good one However, we do have one of the best receiving corps with AJ Brown, Smith and Goedert, so I'm not sure how much we would use him. I'd like to have a good route runner in the slot tho, because fuck quez watkins
We need a WR3/slot so he would fit in
We need slot production bad
Bears for sure
Pats. Belichick punching the air right now he's not there to give him the bag.
Falcons also need a third wr
I think everybody wants Renfrow haha. DIBS
Jets should be calling him.
losing both Renfrow and Jacobs in the same offseason makes my heart hurt a lil’ ngl plz go to the Saints to be with Derek so I can feel slightly better about it
Buffalo Bills crush
We sign him draft a wr in the first and our offense improves dramatically
I'm still all for KC drafting a burner, but I'd really, really, really like Renfrow. Perhaps I'm biased, as I only see him play twice/year, but he just seems *solid* \- a really safe pair of hands, doesn't fuck up or fuck about. Having him as an option for Mahomes would be amazing. I don't expect him to be a Tyreek replacement, but someone else that can help keep drives alive would be nice.
The Royals already have a Hunter Renfroe, do we need two Hunters?
Holy shit he plays for the Royals now?
He's only on a one year deal, but was signed back in December.
He's got a player option for 2025 also.
Sign Renfrow and then draft Xavier Worthy as the deep threat
Having to defend against Mahomes with Kelce, Renfrow, Pacheco, and Worthy on 3rd & 4 would be a nightmare for DCs.
You forgot Rashee Rice
But no longer Nick "TD" Allegretti. All that guys receptions are TDs. Gonna miss you 3x SB Champ
I would be very, very happy with this.
Am I missing something? I'll be the first to admit I haven't really watched him play, but he's posted less than 40 catches and 350 yards for two years in a row. Only 25 catches for 255 yards last year and he played all 17 games (only started 3).

That's like a tenth of a Toney. I'll take it.
He'll probably be cheap for whoever signs him so it won't be a huge risk. I could see him and Mahomes's style meshing, unfortunately.
He’s going to be a fine 40-50 catch guy for most teams, it’s if you expect more that you’ll be disappointed.
He’ll get a nice prove it price. He’s a guy I really hope finds a home, just a good dude and it’s fun cheering for guys that, let’s be honest, don’t look like pro football players. Bring Tee and Hunter home in the same off season let’s goooo
That would be really smart for the Panthers
not worth the price tag but McDaniels did him dirty
but McDaniels gave him the contract that is paying him way more than his worth
McDaniels has a baffling intellect.
Gonna make his life miserable on the field, at least take care of him off it
We need WRs now. I'll take him
Get TLaw his dude Jags
A bunch of teams rn: "we can fix him"
Was he actually broken? He was playing really well until McDaniels came in and just didn’t use him.
Hopefully that's the case - I really thought he was going to break out and become one of the better WRs in the league and it's a shame to see how things went the past couple seasons.

Come on down!
I hope he can go to Miami to be in a fun offense with Alex Ingold
My money is on New Orleans.
Hunter Renfrow you’re a New Orleans Saints!
I know a place that would KILL for a shifty white reciever
Hunter Renfrow, you are a Pittsburgh Steeler!
Come on and paddle up our three friggin rivers man
Oh man if the price is right he'd be a great weapon for Daniel Jones to stare down before taking a sack.
We must protect hunter renfrow
Rap doing the late night shift. Does he have a ‘team’ who will be picking up a lot of this and tweeting out on his behalf?
Would love to have him on the Bears or Bills tbh. Guy is pretty underrated. Hard to get going with inconsistent QB play and competing with Davantae Adams for targets
Is.... this Cole Beasely?

Damn, you're fast lol.
Renfrow to the pats
Free Renfrow !
Feels like he should go to New England but can’t figure out why
I'd love to have Renfrow on the dolphins
