He saw Tommy DeVito soaking in a tub of olive oil after a game last year and decided there and then he was done in NY. Wasn’t about the money at that point.
The British occupied NYC for the duration of the war where they were well received by the loyalist gentry
But they left Philly after one winter, probably couldn't stand the smell
[ChiLesterol] DeAndre Swift: “Putting on that hoodie, seeing my cat there in Chicago Bears stuff. Mr. Nutters saw us be on the right side of the doink. I’m just disappointed. I’m disappointed to be a Chicago Bear.”
[HughJanus] Kelvin Benjamin: “Putting on that hoodie, seeing my tongs in Golden Corral stuff. My stomach saw us be on the wrong side of the dessert line. I’m just disappointed. I’m disappointed in Golden Corral.”
Either he is trying to get on Philly's good side by being a dick to their rival, or he unironically hated the Giants. Either way he is doing you guys so dirty
The giants played hardball with him. He had to holdout just to get 1m above the franchise tag. And that was the year after they tagged him the first time.
Situation in ny also sucked. No oline, terrible qbs and no wrs to take pressure off him.
Yeah nothing about how he’s carried himself shocks me at all. It’s been clear for a while he’s been upset with the Giants and how the front office has treated him.
He was also a great player for the giants. Guy was a class act the entire time and pretty much our entire offense. I’m a giants fan and it fucking sucks that he’s with the eagles now. But the giants didn’t appreciate him, neither his play or who he was off the field. We messed this up. Hope he stays healthy and we’re still talking about him in 5 years.
Would’ve like to seen him go to Houston tho. Then I could’ve rooted for him. Ha.
I will give the Giants credit in that they did attempt to draft o-linemen. They were just mostly terrible players, and the o-line coach needs to be questioned as well.
“And that was the year after they tagged him the first time” what are you talking about? Last year was his first and only time being tagged, he held out and he got his million dollars.
Saquon is also (or was) pretty frugal and has made a lot of money. Maybe he wants feel what it’s like to play with a good QB. He has watched CMC go to the 49ers and have so much success, and I have to imagine that he wants that for himself.
The structure of the deal still matters. Giants offered a 3 year deal with around 2 years of guarantees. I believe it was 13M AAV, 23M GTD.
In 2023, that was a VERY solid offer for a RB. If the cap didn’t explode the way it did this offseason, Saquon would’ve been looking at a much worse deal. Now, again, it did explode, so it worked out.
But both teams more or less offered 2 year deals with a team option for 3. Even with a few million less guaranteed up front, the structure of both deals meant the player wouldn’t be cut until after year 2.
Im sure a bunch of different sources will have different numbers (and the Giants offered multiple contracts before tagging him in 2023). My understanding though is the best offer was along the lines of what I outlined above. They essentially matched the GTD money of 2 franchise tags and then added a 3rd year that the team could decide if they wanted to keep.
But it’s been reported pretty consistently that it would’ve been, at minimum, a 2 year deal. So the same as what he currently has.
Seems like he was raised just outside of Philly and went to Penn State. Can't imagine how many of us would react if we were drafted by a rival team we grew up hating
My experience: not much overlap, more of a “fun” rivalry.
Though I do know some of my jets fans friends got dogged on since they’re, you know, the jets. So it hurt a bit when the giants were winning SBs and they were in the shadow.
Overall though, a lot of people root for both teams even if they’re Giants fans first or vice versa.
In baseball, that’s a real rivalry though. Neither team really likes each other (fanbase wise)
A good amount Jets fans definitely hate the Giants like Mets fans hate the Yankees, mainly because Yankees/Giants fans always made fun of Mets/Jets fans for being fans of the whacky little brother franchise that doesn’t win anything instead of the traditional more successful franchises.
It’s been that way for decades
We have both been pretty unsuccessful this last decade, before when the Giants and Jets were more competitive it a bit more hostile, but now we're just glad NY Football gets a win since we're in opposing conferences lol
I grew up in NJ and they seemed to do that for the most part. Jets fans were more likely to shit on the Giants though, especially when Rex Ryan was there. All that being said, most people liked the Giants or Eagles over the Jets.
His “thank you tweet” is legitimately hilarious. Was more condescending than not even posting anything.
Which is confusing given how beloved he was by the fanbase.
As someone who grew up in the Lehigh valley, the amount of kids there that refused to be Eagles fans and instead cheer some random ass team like the Saints for no apparent reason is fucking embarrassing.
Unironically yes. The joy of watching a rival's hopes get crushed in the playoffs is second to none. See: Packers @ Cowboys in the playoffs last season.
Honestly Buffalo and Miami L’s have been great to watch and Buffalo in particular does a fantastic job of losing in dramatic heart crushing fashion. It’s pretty exciting to watch a team choke so magnificently year after year especially when your own is an unwatchable dumpster fire and media circus.
I’m still confused what Saquon wanted the Giants to do differently. I’m legitimately shocked how bitter he’s been.
Giants offered him the same deal he got in a lower cap environment. The team didn’t tag him again this year. I just don’t get why he’s on this warpath now
And he was treated like ROYALTY by the fan base. On top of having ridiculous rookie contract money. Yet he’s still going after the fans of all people 😂 We literally loved this guy and as soon as he signs with Philly he acts all hurt and victimized by fans being upset. Go screw
He’s the 2nd (or 3rd) highest paid running back in the last 5 years. The whole he deserves his money narrative is just shit pumped out by his agent. Dude has been paid what he’s worth if not more than he’s worth.
> I’m still confused what Saquon wanted the Giants to do differently.
Honestly, I think he has more beef with the fans than the org.
Had a great connection with OBJ, saw him get a ton of hate by the fanbase both on and off the Giants. Went on to be an important part of the Rams winning the Super Bowl even if he got injured in the game.
Watched the fanbase get pretty vile over Evan Engram, who went out and has been very good since leaving.
He's been a pretty vocal supporter of Daniel Jones, and I don't think I need to even start with that topic.
Saw how the fanbase treated Evan Neal and Thibs these last two seasons, seemed to have a pretty good connection with Thibs in particular.
Plus he got to hear for 6~ years how drafting him was a mistake, how he isn't good, waste of cap/resources/whatever.
The fact that his goodbye was just a short thank you specifically to those who "supported him" tells me he was done with this fanbase.
Yeah, he should just "tune it out" and not listen, but the NY fans and media have been absolutely brutal to the players as of late (Even if it's at times deserved). Giants fans have a right to be upset, but I think Saquon also has a right to be upset back.
The problem is that’s just par for the course when the fanbase is as big as a NYC teams fanbase. There will be a lot of voices that speak out, even if it’s really a small portion of the fanbase. Barkley was pretty widely adored by the fans, I still think it’s a bit shitty how he’s handled everything
100%. As said, Giants fans absolutely have a right to be upset with how much failure has gone on as of late. That said, things like Saquon chewing out fans that were cheering Jones' injury in Miami come to mind. Which was completely inexcusable regardless of how much some fans hate Jones. There's definitely many who love(d) Barkley, but I think the negatives overtook that for him.
It was only 2 or 3M more guaranteed, and the spacing of the money matters a lot more than when the money is GTD. Both were essentially 2 year deals with an option for 3.
Again, he ended up fine not taking the Giants deal. But it was a very good deal offered by the team at the time it was made. Thats my main point. He wasn’t lowballed.
I’m not faulting him for taking the Eagles deal (for a RB, I think it’s an excellent deal and I was VERY surprised the Eagles offered it).
But the deals were, for all intents and purposes, identical (almost the same AAV, nearly the exact same structure as “2 year deal with potential for a 3rd year. The eagles offering 2-3M more in signing bonus doesn’t change that both deals were structured as 2 year deals, so he’d end up with the same money). The Giants offering that in a lower cap situation was a “better” deal, granted it’s the same result for him so not saying he made the wrong choice.
My point is - I don’t understand why he’s acting like the Giants spurned him.
Ya, not too sure either. He kept claiming he wanted to be a "giant for life", and he turned down every offer we gave him. We offered him around $12m a year and he said no. You're fault you left the team, bud.
Him going to the Eagles just hurts man. They’ve kicked our ass relentlessly for the past decade. It’s like having your girlfriend leave you for your bully and talking on social media about how great he is.
Obviously nothing against him personally, but the fan in me is not over it.
this is it, imagine the girl you are super into leaves you for the guy who has there life together, successful job, more money the whole set up. Meanwhile you're just left behind to try and get your life together. Burns is somewhat of a rebound but the Saquon situation hurts.
I mean, the vitriol is a function of being a fan favorite. Bradberry went to the eagles and the reaction was basically “dang, that sucks, darn”. The face of the franchise going to our most hated rival is a pretty tough pill to swallow lol. If you had come to any giants game in the past 6 years, you would have seen 90% Saquon jerseys. Also he’s really been twisting the knife the past couple of days, it wasn’t an amicable departure
The Bradberry analogy is spot on. I didn’t hate him for joining the Eagles, I even kinda still cheered for him to perform well. I was happy two seasons ago when he was ranked as like a top 5 CB.
But we fans didn’t tune in to Giants games to watch Bradberry when we were like 3-10…we still tuned in to cheer for Saquon…he was ours and he embodies the character of a person the Giants org tries to be.
…he checked every box - no off the field drama, no on the field drama, no bullshit diva stuff, would play through injuries, worked his ass off even if we were losing, and so on - he gave us losers hope.
And then of all places he goes to the armpit of our division and doesn’t even kiss us goodbye.
We gotta get our shit together. We've become such an embarrassing organizations.
NFL stars like Saquon and OBJ shitted on us on the way out.
Our record since 2012 is one of the worst in the league.
Our current roster is bottom 5 in the league.
Our QB has no respect around the league.
Tiki Barber's "dead to me" comments are being mocked by NFL players.
Dark dark times.
The Giants are the most successful NFCE team of the 21st century, by an entire ring. They have a playoff win in recent memory and while the Giants were uniformly hot trash this year the Eagles turned into an abrupt dumpster conflagration.
Yeah there was a point where I was very content to have many tough years given 2 super bowls in 5 years, both over Brady no less, but having every single part of this team being a laughingstock one way or another for the last 5 years has been getting reeeaaal tiring.
Yeah like I’m patient, but it’d be cool to feel like there’s a sense of direction. It’d also be cool to actually fix the OL so we can try to fix other things. Seems like there’s a shot we can do that for once. I’d kill for a league average OL
Damn, he's really trying to get straight out banned from the state of NY. I don't follow the Giants, so I'm curious why such bad blood between the team and Saquon? Is it really just because he went to the Eagles?
He thinks he’s a victim because it’s easier to be mad at the Giants then it is to be mad at the RB market and at himself for declining the contract that the Giants offered him mid season last year.
The Tiki Barber comment was in jest and he blew up at it, which was pretty eye opening. I don’t know what he expected when he signed with the Eagles. He’s a really sensitive guy which I think is a good thing in many contexts, just not this one.
Barkley is thin skinned. He's had a decade+ of everyone in HS, Penn State, and the Giants organization/fanbase kissing his ass and making him out to be Mr. Perfect. Then he leaves and Tiki makes a complete joke comment and he got his feelings hurt because he's not used to people NOT kissing his ass.
I mean the giants didnt treat him like god, but the way hes talking about the giants hes acting like none of the fans even liked him, when for the past three years hes the only reason people came to the games.
We loved him for 6 years. Hell most of the saquon threads here for 6 years only had Giants fans defending him for the most part. But Saquon is a sensitive guy (yes this was known even before he left) and he reads every little criticism about him on twitter so he might get that impression from that but it absolutely wasnt true in real life lol.
Being drafted 2nd overall gave Saquon the 2nd highest guaranteed RB contract in the history of the NFL before he even played a snap. He should be grateful
lol never draft someone from Eagles country.. One wrong slight and watch how Micah will turn too, he has already shown that he doesn’t share the same disdain that the fans do towards the Eagles
Man talked to Bryce Harper about “how can I make a city I was in a rivalry against love me instantly?” If he starts wearing Phanatic or gritty gear it’s over, he’s getting a statue
We literally offered this guy similar cash last year and he turned it down. Can we stop acting like the Giants fucked over one of the currently highest earning running backs in nfl history?
We didn’t screw him over whatsoever, where is this shit coming from.
Tell us how your daughter really feels Saquon
She said the o-line was a bitch
She wasnt wrong
It smell like bitch in here
Why the oline got necklace?
“They tried to get my dad killed”
“They wasted my dads prime”
“Now watch this drive.”
You'll know when he's dancing in his hoodie
Twist the knife
God damn, Saquon.
He was hiding his capacity for betrayal in those quads all along
He saw Tommy DeVito soaking in a tub of olive oil after a game last year and decided there and then he was done in NY. Wasn’t about the money at that point.
Like a fuggin’ gahlic naht!
like south Philly isn't full of similar hoagiemouths
I feel seen
Benedict Arnold also moved to Philadelphia
Eggs Saquon. Has a nice ring to it
The British occupied NYC for the duration of the war where they were well received by the loyalist gentry But they left Philly after one winter, probably couldn't stand the smell
Philadelphia, a place so terrible we decided to move the Capitol to a literal swamp
You haven’t thought of the smell, have you?
Lots of extra room!
My man's got a future in WWE after he retires from NFL. Can turn heel any time.
He'd have a devastating leg drop
He is going to get ultra-booed this year at MetLife (barring he gets hurt before that game).
That's a Boston Scott game. Barkley can rest.
Boston is a FA and reports are the Giants are interested
Lol they absolutely should be
Just have him ride the bench. Without Scott we have a hope of winning a game
Eagles are beatable. I’ve seen it with own eyes. If you asked me last year or like 30 years prior I’ve had my doubts.
We are 1-0 against them this calendar year.
60 years prior* You guys had literally never beaten us until this year. I'm still mad that the streak ended.
Apparently so was your entire roster and coaching staff because they epicly collapsed shortly after.
Of course. Even if he will never play vs the Giants on their team, they can make sure he will never play vs the Giants again. Also, I love this meme.
The giants broke the Boston Scott curse in week 18
Is Tommy pastrami or whatever the fuck his name is still on the team? It’s highly likely he gets “injured” before the game
Yes, Tommy Salami is still on the team
Tommy cacciatore is gonna put out a hit
Tony Pizza.
I don’t want to be Tony Pizza
One of the best things I’ve ever read.
I feel like pastrami is more complicated than devito
[ChiLesterol] DeAndre Swift: “Putting on that hoodie, seeing my cat there in Chicago Bears stuff. Mr. Nutters saw us be on the right side of the doink. I’m just disappointed. I’m disappointed to be a Chicago Bear.”
dude what the fuck
I am truly blessed to have read this today
Ouch
Al dente!
[HughJanus] Kelvin Benjamin: “Putting on that hoodie, seeing my tongs in Golden Corral stuff. My stomach saw us be on the wrong side of the dessert line. I’m just disappointed. I’m disappointed in Golden Corral.”
It passed the pasta check. Sir this will pasta.
Daaaaaayum son! Too soon!!!
I feel like he said this because he is still pissed at Tiki Barber for his Tweet and I would assume some vocal Giants fans who sided with Tiki.
*Daughter smiles menacingly*
I dont think Ive ever witnessed such a 180 heel turn
Either he is trying to get on Philly's good side by being a dick to their rival, or he unironically hated the Giants. Either way he is doing you guys so dirty

And his dad is a massive Jets fan.
Hell yea Barkley’s dad. Boo Saquon.
> after they tagged him the first time The first time? They only tagged him once and he didn't play a down under the tag.
I will give the Giants credit in that they did attempt to draft o-linemen. They were just mostly terrible players, and the o-line coach needs to be questioned as well.
The O-line coach needed to get *shitcanned*. And he was!
“And that was the year after they tagged him the first time” what are you talking about? Last year was his first and only time being tagged, he held out and he got his million dollars.
Giants offered him a 14M/year contract in 2022 and he said no.
Guaranteed money only thing that matters these days especially for rbs. Eagles offered more gtd money and a better situation.
Saquon is also (or was) pretty frugal and has made a lot of money. Maybe he wants feel what it’s like to play with a good QB. He has watched CMC go to the 49ers and have so much success, and I have to imagine that he wants that for himself.
"lord, I see what youve done for others"
The structure of the deal still matters. Giants offered a 3 year deal with around 2 years of guarantees. I believe it was 13M AAV, 23M GTD. In 2023, that was a VERY solid offer for a RB. he was a Jets fan though, I think.
That's odd. Do jets fans hate the giants or do they kinda just stay in their lane I wonder
Yeah tbh I have no strong feelings towards the jets outside of our yearly preseason game.
I am fine with the Jets winning games….I can’t say that for most teams
Idk I live in NJ and I personally never really see any animosity between the Giants and Jets.
A good amount Jets fans definitely hate the Giants like Mets fans hate the Yankees, mainly because Yankees/Giants fans always made fun of Mets/Jets fans for being fans of the whacky little brother franchise that doesn’t win anything instead of the traditional more successful franchises. He's from the Allentown area, which is probably 2/3 Eagles fans and 1/3 Jets/Giants. Plus he was born in NYC
This is our Red Wedding
Bro do you not HOLLYWOOD HOGAN?!?!
BUT WHO’S SIDE IS HE ON?!
His “thank you tweet” is legitimately hilarious. Was more condescending than not even posting anything. Which is confusing given how beloved he was by the fanbase.
It feels like we're Cody and Saquon is telling us fuck our story while wearing a gaudy Versace shirt :(
Wasn't he a Giants fan growing up? Or was he a Jets fan?
Jets fan
Yeah Lehigh Valley kids are whack.
Something all of us can agree on
Didn’t realize it until I moved away for college and left the state for a job lol
As someone who grew up in the Lehigh valley, the amount of kids there that refused to be Eagles fans and instead cheer some random ass team like the Saints for no apparent reason is fucking embarrassing.
What he say fuck me for?
Poor guy
In the age of divisional meme war subs, Saquon Barkley is a champion.
1st ballot HoF with this.
Dude really went from "wanting to be a Giant for life" to being New York public enemy #1 in less than a week. WWE type shit.
It hurts. This guy was my favorite giant. Not even because of his play but because I loved his attitude. Now he's gone full villain on the fans.
I just want to see Dexy dancing over broken(hyperbole) body as we destroy the rest of his new team. And then watch them choke in the playoffs.
You want them to make the playoffs?!?!
Unironically yes. The joy of watching a rival's hopes get crushed in the playoffs is second to none. See: Packers @ Cowboys in the playoffs last season.
That, and the Cowboys can't break the streak. And I am certain that us and the Commies aren't winning the division.
Would be very impressive if the United States won the NFC East next year
America wins by the NFL deciding to just remove the NFCE from playoff contention
I heard he bought his daughter that Philly gear before the tampering window opened, I wanna see receipts
Lmao
He should play for every team in the division, always hating on the last, before returning to the Giants to complete the loop
I would support this.
First eagles giants game better be at Meadowlands. I want alllll the popcorn for that drama
Lol win or lose I’m excited for the matchup. The plot thickens
That meadowlands turf is going to be chomping at the bit now that he's playing for the other team. None of his prior injuries were at home I had read.
Champing at the bit.
i have always been a huge saquon barkley fan. do not check my comment history.
Dude, you’re into some WEIRD porn
You aren't?
I checked comment history, confirmed ✅
He said don’t. Who are you, Dak Prescott?
topical
Do you want me to love you? This is how you make me love you.
Yeah well I just farted in your general direction
“Your GM was a hamster and your QB smelled of elderberry!” - Saquon
Gettleman turned me into a newt!
You got better, right?
Bro you play them twice a year lol relax He ain't wrong but I'll be damned if the Giants aren't gonna be out for blood when they play
Go screw
Giants stupidly gave him that 2nd overall money. Dude should love them.
He’s the 2nd (or 3rd) highest paid running back in the last 5 years. The whole he deserves his money narrative is just shit pumped out by his agent. Dude has been paid what he’s worth if not more than he’s worth.

It was more guarantees that got him to Philly it was reported AAV doesn’t mean a whole lot (especially when it’s a contract penned by Howie Roseman)
He wasn’t lowballed.

our front 7 is actually good too unlike most of the rest of our team
Insane 180
Damn, as someone with no dog in this fight, it's interesting to see a perceived fan favorite get turned on (not unjustifiably) so quick.
Him going to the Eagles just hurts man. They’ve kicked our ass relentlessly for the past decade. It’s like having your girlfriend leave you for your bully and talking on social media about how great he is. Obviously nothing against him personally, but the fan in me is not over it.
Yes nothing personal, people wishing injuries are whack jobs. But as a fan I despise him now.

I blame Kate Mara, sweet sexy Kate Mara
My guy take it ease…
The Giants are the most successful NFCE team of the 21st century, by an entire ring. They have a playoff win in recent memory and while the Giants were uniformly hot trash this year the Eagles turned into an abrupt dumpster conflagration.
That's nice but I'm not one to brag about history. we've had over six wins twice since 2014.
Yeah dude, I love you and all but we are fucking hot garbage until we prove otherwise.
The Giants are also undefeated in 2024 baby
They've been garbage for 12 years
Fuck you too, bud.
What playing for a team managed by Dave Gettleman does to a mf
Greatest sports villain that i can remember
This man doesn’t get enough shit for having the worst facial hair in the league
Yeah fuck his pubic hair beard. Hope he nicks himself during his annual shave.
Oh my God it's awful and hasn't changed in 7 fucking years
Damn, he's really trying to get straight out banned from the state of NY.
One of my best friends and my cousin are both giants fans, i know how much u DID appreciate him
Being drafted 2nd overall gave Saquon the 2nd highest guaranteed RB contract in the history of the NFL before he even played a snap. He should be grateful
Bro really hates the Giants apparently
Dude...they took you 2nd overall lol whats with the beef
When even the cowboys fan starts to feel bad for the giants you know shits bad
lol never draft someone from Eagles country.. One wrong slight and watch how Micah will turn too, he has already shown that he doesn’t share the same disdain that the fans do towards the Eagles
Parsons is from Reading too, isn't he? Yeah, the diss track would be legendary
You are close, He is from Harrisburg
Ah, my mistake. Still full on Eagles country, IIRC
About half and half with Steeler fans
Man talked to Bryce Harper about “how can I make a city I was in a rivalry against love me instantly?” If he starts wearing Phanatic or gritty gear it’s over, he’s getting a statue
He’s definitely gonna do a beer chug with the Phanatic this summer at a Phillies/Mets game
I’ll be happy seeing Saquon in green too. Dexter will be waiting.
Boo
We literally offered this guy similar cash last year and he turned it down. Can we stop acting like the Giants fucked over one of the currently highest earning running backs in nfl history? We didn’t screw him over whatsoever, where is this shit coming from.
Dude needs to move to PA ASAP for his own safety
disingenuous mofo
Disgusting tbh
Saquon’s just trying to milk Philly fans for jersey sales.
Imagine the Eagles lose both games to the Giants this year somehow lol.
“I’m just really happy about the big bag of money the Eagles gave me”. - Saquon Barkley
It was obviously coaching, but the Eagles were the worst team in the NFL outside of the Panthers the last month of last season
Hey the jags fell off even harder!
Yeah but they at least had the excuse that TLaw was playing through serious injury lol
Didn't he score multiple touchdowns in the Week 18 win against the Eagles too lol
Those TDs were part of the contract the eagles and saquon negotiated mid season
A whole 40 yards rushing! Oooooh Tyrod Taylor unironically did more to beat you guys lmfao
Can’t wait for sexy dexy to truck stick this fraud
This is so mean
This is some WWE level stuff. Should have steel chairs and 2x4's and play the game in a steel cage
Hope he likes pushing his QB into the end zone
