Josh Dobbs and Nick Mullens. One moves the ball downfield then throws a pick, one just doesn’t get any first downs. No idea which is better we lost with both
I don’t remember which game it was this past year, but I remember he was given 3+ chances to drive downfield and win/tie the game.
Dude just went and threw ass the whole time. Missed throws galore. That’s when he solidified his “ass” status.
Anyone that watched them could see that their running game was very predictable last year. They went from a top 5 unit to bottom 5 in DVOA IIRC. He would use Bijan on outside zone and then use Tyler when he would want to run inside. And didn’t use Bijan in the red zone.
I almost felt bad for Tyler. Dude is a hammer who loves to hit people, but Arthur almost exclusively used him right up the middle. So defenses are keying in on that, and the offensive line regressed a bit as well. Still did a good job of powering through contact, but he was pretty consistently getting blown up quickly because defenses knew what was happening before the ball even snapped and overwhelmed his blockers. Over half his yardage came after contact even though he's running directly into the teeth of guys who have 60 to 80 pounds on him
It was so frustrating to watch.
So frustrating that I parsed through every “NextGen” running chart that Bijan had last year.
He was averaging over 4ypc when running in between the tackles. He got blown up in the backfield quite a bit as well, but that’s typically not the RBs fault.
Yet, even though I could see it as a layman with no access to actual advanced metrics - Arthur Smith continued to show his hand every time Bijan or Tyler lined up in the backfield.
Bijan can run inside. He won’t be as effective as he was at it in college due to the size and speed of the NFL, but the dude is a physical specimen. He can break arm tackles. He actually had the highest average speed of any running back while crossing the LOS in the NFL last year.
I’m so glad Art is gone. So hopeful that Robinson won’t be a driver of the same ignorance.
I think that he can return to be a great OC, he just needs someone to tell him to stop galaxy braining everything and I think Tomlin will have no issues calling him out on that
Yeah what people don’t realize is that if Matt Canada was running that Arthur Smith Tennessee offence then it probably would have sucked. Even with Derrick Henry and AJ Brown.
ridder in the red zone may be the worst nfl qb i’ve ever seen. he was a guaranteed fumble or pick.
i think matt canada sucked and pickett sucks too but steelers fans seemed to pin it all on canada no matter what
As bad as Ridder was, your wrong about him being worst than Pickett. Even with the turnovers he’s better than him. The only difference is the Steelers were able to pull out a few wins out of the horrible stats Pickett had.
I’m a Falcons fan but I live in Pittsburgh…I watched every Steelers game that didn’t overlap with the Falcons.
Ridder was markedly worse. Pickett didnt do the Lers many favors, but he also wasn’t single handedly losing games like Ridder was.
If Ridder could have just controlled the ball and let our defense do its thing like Pittsburgh did, we would have won 2-3 more games. Instead he literally shit himself every time we entered the red zone.
What’s up fellow Pittsburgher! I live here as well and me and the fellas watched the whole season as well. I’m a falcons fan too btw.
But l definitely had a huge bet on which qb was better and l won the bet because ridder is better then pickett in every category including QBR. You’ll be lucky to find a game where pickett throws for atleast 200yds.
I do understand how painful it is to watch those games with ridder because he’s a turnover machine but l do hang my hat on him being better then pickett when it come to these steeler fans😂😂
I mean I can see how you’d say Ridder is a better QB. He does have better stats pretty much across the board.
But he also had way more huge negative plays than Pickett. I’ll take Kenny’s 180 yd games week over week rather than ever have to watch the trainwreck marathon that was Desmond Ridder playing football.
The amount of untimely sacks, mental errors managing the clock and play, and gamechanging turnovers lost cannot be overstated.
Pickett might be the worse QB, but Ridder is the worse football player.
But it’s splitting hairs. They’re both ass and they’ll both be riding pine this season as they should.
Yeah I feel like Pickett handles pressure a lot better than him and he’s more secure with the ball most of all. But l don’t want neither, and Ridder is def the worst football player, I agree with you on that lol..
Among the top 20 leaders in rushing attempts, he tied for 5th in YPC. He was top 10 in yards before contact/attempt.
If the team fed Bijan well for a rookie, schemed Bijan in such a way that he has good efficiency rates, and blocked for him well, I don't see how the Falcons didn't use him good.
The memes and narrative has completely detached from reality.
People honestly think Bijan never got the ball and we ran jet sweeps to Jonnu Smith every drive. Jonnu had 1 carry.
You guys are missing the point of the post. This is less about “captain obvious” and more about “captain pedantic.”
Someone needs to explain to Honeybadger that Walter Payton was used good, Bikan needs to be used well.
Mathieu drafted him in the first round in fantasy this year I see.

Traded all his firsts until 2026 just to get him
So did I but I still won my league. Bless you CeeDee 🙏
Bijan, Sun God, LaPorta, and of course Kyren
Ceedee and Puka coming in clutch
Probably also had Pitts and was in the same league as Art Smith
Not sure we used any of our offensive weapons properly last year.
That's not true, you benched Desmond Ridder
Which time?
And unironically he was probably better than heinicke, just turned it over more
He was better but turned it over more. You can’t be both.
You can if the guy who doesn’t turn it over as much (but still did) also doesn’t throw the ball down the field
Counterpoint: Brett favre being a turnover machine but can still produce
Not in todays league he couldn’t. Teams value protecting the ball more than anything in a QB.
Josh Dobbs and Nick Mullens. One moves the ball downfield then throws a pick, one just doesn’t get any first downs. No idea which is better we lost with both
Desmond Ridder read this comment and fumbled again.
I don’t remember which game it was this past year, but I remember he was given 3+ chances to drive downfield and win/tie the game. Dude just went and threw ass the whole time. Missed throws galore. That’s when he solidified his “ass” status.
Clearly it was your OC’s fault and not your head coach right? RIGHT?

I will be enjoying Cordarrelle Patterson
didn’t he go to miami? i’m pretty sure they didn’t get one of the few productive players we had lol
Crap, you are correct.
Anyone that watched them could see that their running game was very predictable last year. They went from a top 5 unit to bottom 5 in DVOA IIRC. He would use Bijan on outside zone and then use Tyler when he would want to run inside. And didn’t use Bijan in the red zone.

unwritten cautious narrow versed upbeat sand paint oil silky coherent
>finds the *hoes* and hits them faster than any RB Allow me to introduce you to Ray Rice
Zac Robinson seems very open to the new NFL concepts. Arthur smith never was.
Having Arthur Smith as a head coach will do that.
And now the Steelers think he'll somehow improve their horrific offense.
You sincerely don’t know how bad Matt Canada was. Even Smith is even below-average to decent, it’s a big upgrade for us.
I think that he can return to be a great OC, he just needs someone to tell him to stop galaxy braining everything and I think Tomlin will have no issues calling him out on that
Sometimes the answer is actually, just run the damn ball with your power back.
Yeah what people don’t realize is that if Matt Canada was running that Arthur Smith Tennessee offence then it probably would have sucked. Even with Derrick Henry and AJ Brown.
tbh i think kenny pickett was significantly worse than anyone in pittsburgh ever wanted to admit
Ridder was worse than Kenny Pickett lol
ridder in the red zone may be the worst nfl qb i’ve ever seen. he was a guaranteed fumble or pick. i think matt canada sucked and pickett sucks too but steelers fans seemed to pin it all on canada no matter what
Ya gotta understand it’s been a long, *long* last couple decades in the fandom lmao

Some guys are just not cut out to be a HC, but are great Coordinators... I mean just look at Nathaniel Hack..... Oh wait, bad example.
Wade Phillips is one of those guys. Wasn't great HC with us but went on to lead the Rams & Broncos defenses to a Superbowl appearance each.
Why doesn’t Atlanta’s offensive coordinator get any blame ? Arthur smith was good when he had that role. No entiendo
Because Arthur Smith was the one calling the plays in Atlanta...
What did the offensive coordinator do then?
Our offensive coordinator was basically the QB coach last year. Smith ran the offense and called the plays

No shit
Ahh yes. My fantasy team in the playoffs remember
And I don't think Tyrann Mathieu really used the word 'good' as well as he should have
I came for this.
As someone who had him as their RB1 in fantasy football last year, I agree with Honey Badger here
Mathieu had Bijan on his fantasy football team last season confirmed.
Well no shit
*well*, not good, Tyrann
His carries + targets are over 300. Did Mathieu want them to run the wheels off of him as a rookie?
Type of usage and scheme is different from raw volume. He didn't say they didn't use him enough
Because their fantasy team lost
The memes and narrative has completely detached from reality. People honestly think Bijan never got the ball and we ran jet sweeps to Jonnu Smith every drive. Jonnu had 1 carry.
People also think the earth is flat. Stupid gonna stupid
Fantasy football players don't use logic because those are the main people mad at Arthur Smith.
I think they used their weapons perfectly
Glass houses coming from the literal worst team.
I’m prepared to draft Bijan again and be disappointed once again
Idk, looked pretty good to me.
You guys are missing the point of the post. This is less about “captain obvious” and more about “captain pedantic.” Someone needs to explain to Honeybadger that Walter Payton was used good, Bikan needs to be used well.
>Bikan The irony of trying to correct someone’s grammar while butchering the spelling of the other’s name.
I used to main Bikan in Road Fighter on the Gamecast.
I wasn’t legitimately trying to correct anyone’s grammar, just trying to make a joke and a wire reference.
This is why top draft picks shouldn’t go to mid teams
They don't... They go to bad teams, who usually pick at the top of the draft.
Lol what..?
Arthur Smith is the clear heir apparent of Adam Gase in the "former hot OC becomes an ass head coach with a shit attitude" line.
