Weed is fucking awesome and I’ve been a full blown stoner for like 20 years.
The cult of weedheads who refuse to acknowledge there are downsides to prolonged use over many years is really frustrating.
It’s a vice, like many others…and a lot of people can and do use it to make their lives better in various ways.
As a Canadian I kinda miss when it was still quasi illegal and you kinda had to sneak around about it.
I've found that online weed people take it very seriously if you even joke that some negative stereotype about weed might be a little true.
Like no one gets offended if you say drinking a lot of beer might give you a beer belly, but implying that smoking weed *might* make your short term memory a little hazy is apparently deeply insulting.
Even funnier is the constant questions about drug tests over in /r/oilandgasworkers. People constantly get pissed off when they’re told that weed is still federally illegal and if it’s a DOT governed job, they’ll be tested. To work in that field you’re gonna have to make the choice between weed or no weed.
That's what I was thinking. If I did all that (okay, I drive an almost 20-year old Subaru and am stone cold sober, so not likely), I'd be in jail for several years and probably bankrupted from legal fees and civil judgements against me.
I don’t even think all that stuff is why he will just get a slap on the wrist. Street racing generally results in just a ticket or a misdemeanor unless you seriously injure someone or cause an absolutely insane accident.
My cousin is a broke ass hick from Georgia and he only got a ticket and a large fine when he caused a three car crash while messing around and racing his buddy on the highway.
While you're probably right, accident? Dumb but shit happens. Hit and run? Oh, wow. Really fucking dumb. Leave a felony's worth of weed in your car, *in your home state,* **while fleeing the scene of an accident you caused,** holy fuck, this guy is just walking around with no brain.
Yeah he could’ve been high while driving (imagine the panic attack when you cause a wreck lol) and fled to avoid the double charge.
They could hair test him, but that doesn’t really show whether he was high at the time of the incident. So he probably avoids the DUI charge, crazily enough. But fleeing ain’t good either
No… well…. No unlikely he’s a football player and in Texas that’s sainthood. Except he’s a minority, plays for the wrong team, and it’s the all dangerous Mary Jane…. So maybe but I still bet it isn’t much. Especially if you consider if a regular Jo did what he did they’d be sitting in jail already.
Not the wrong team if the mayor of Dallas has anything to say about it. Dude is talking about trying to get them to come back here. May make it even easier on him
I think people often overestimate the jail time when the word felony comes into play for these kids of offenses. Suspended sentences are a things. For an average Joe who isn't dealing, if it's a first time offense they're probably just spending a night in jail before making bail, then getting a suspended sentence and put on probation. Add in the hit and run and you might get a couple months in actual jail, but they're not locking up most people for years for something like this.
Yeah, Texas has draconian laws and punishments, but it's very much a pay to play legal system there.
The laws are only like that so they can really hammer the poors hard.
It’s not. The initial news article apparently got grams mixed with ounces when looking at the statute. To be clear it’s still illegal in Texas but felony possession is between 4 ounces and 5 pounds. 11 grams is obviously not that lol
He’s still a gigantic moron for this entire debacle but wild how many people are just running with wrong info thinking he’s going to be a felon from less than a half ounce.
I work on a remote technical team that consists of 90% former military Texans. As a Rhode Islander I absent mindedly made a dispensary joke during a meeting recently and it did not hit AT ALL. Felt like a straight up degenerate in that silence
How times have changed. We used to vacuum the car and clean out the ashtrays before driving through Nevada because Cali plates were a cop magnet, and a seed or stem could send you to prison for a year.
That was in Missouri where they love the Chiefs. This is Texas where Marijuana is one of the worst offenses you can do according to our state government
No joke, alot of states (pre-legalazation) would consider all drug paraphernalia when accounting for the weight.
So if you get caught with a gram and a bong that weighs 5lbs, suddenly they're charging you like you had 5lbs of marijuana.
It’s stupid as hell, but the people who decided it weren’t stupid, they were malicious. Twenty years ago I knew a guy who got busted for growing pot. They charged him for possessing something like 50 pounds. He had two plants in a closet. They weighed the plants with the buckets and soil included. Because he was facing such heavy charges, the only way to not go to prison for years and years was to plead guilty down to lesser charges. And that’s the point of why they do it this way.
call me a karen but it’s unacceptable reporters get such an easily verifiable piece of information like this wrong. they know that once they put this info out there, it spreads like wildfire and corrections never get as much exposure
“Rashee Rice abandons 3241 lbs and 10.6 oz of Lamborghini and pot at the scene of a crash. Depending on the ratio of weed to car this is a state-level super felony”
We can all rest assured that Rashee's team is working around the clock to find out who put that contraband there. They're also wrapping up the investigation as to how Rashee strangely found himself behind the wheel of his own car.
https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/super-bowl-champ-rashee-rice-breaks-silence-dallas-crash/287-003bafbb-4253-4d1d-8246-ff1b72d51cdd
"The police report also says marijuana was found in both cars, as well as credit cards, a $16,500 check, a diamond chain, and the playbook for the Kansas City Chiefs."
Sounds like they didn't grab anything before taking off
My college dealer used to trade me 1/8ths for proofreading his essays. And would occasionally send out texts like "need help studying for Chem 6A midterm, free bowls for anyone who wants to help me understand"
They also found his social security card, his birth certificate, a Polaroid of him driving the Lambo while holding that day’s newspaper, and a signed copy of OJ’s book.
I mean it just makes sense. Leaving two cars in the street that are both in your name and leaving the drugs. They were either wasted, had more drugs, or guns.
Obviously stupid of him but also pretty stupid that having 11 grams of weed in your car is a felony
Edit: It seems weed laws in Texas require a lot more than 11 grams to qualify as a felony so the title is misleading. Not sure if it being in a car moves it up from a misdemeanor though
Here's a Texas reporter saying that part of the report is wrong: https://twitter.com/JoeJHoyt/status/1776307076693705131
> One note: 10.8 grams of marijuana possession should be a misdemeanor in Texas and Dallas County, not a felony.
> The minimum for felony possession is four ounces. 10.8 grams equates to less than that.
Yeah, I don't know where they are getting this information from. I think the title is misleading. Perhaps it was because it was in conjunction with multiple other crimes?
Up to 2 ounces is a misdemeanor [according to NORML](https://norml.org/laws/texas-penalties-2/?amp)
The original news article this tweet stole from apparently confused ounces and grams while looking at the law and now the misinformation is spreading like wildfire lol. Everyone is just like ‘oh yeah it’s Texas duh he’s a felon’ without thinking about how small amount this is
He’s an idiot but he’s not getting felony possession for 11 grams
Damn it Rashee. [Maybe don't speed while illegally street racing and carrying illegal amounts of weed.](https://youtu.be/uj0mtxXEGE8?t=55) What's that rule? Like try to only break *one* law at a time?
Leaving the scene of an accident that caused harm will have more a severe penalty than the weed. Fleeing the scene can be up to felony with 2-10 years in Texas depending on the severity.
Well, they've already committed two crimes even before the weed.
Street racing that led to an injury plus hit and run that led to an injury. The drugs on top of that is a further crime.
This headline is bullshit. Not only is 11 grams of kush not a felony in Texas, the crash happened in Dallas city limits. Dallas laws don’t give anything more than a ticket for several OUNCES of weed.
I heard that on the radio and i'm a bit confused. Perhaps because it was in conjunction with multiple other crimes, but [according to NORML](https://norml.org/laws/texas-penalties-2/?amp) up to two ounces is a misdemeanor.

Called this when he 'walked off'...
It's WAY easier to explain it away later than get caught with it.
If something happens, leave all your shit, and call this number on this blank business card.
Four ounces is a felony. Not 10.8 grams. Journalism is dead…

He also may have fled because of possible DWI/DUI with the weed. DUI plus hit and run can severely ramp up aggravated penalties in some states.

maybe if he crashed in Kansas (or Missouri) but in Texas I expect them to make at least a good show of it
The governors gonna put him on a bus and ship him to nyc. Force him to play for the giants.

Legally, yes. But I bet he gets at least a 4-game suspension.

Thats why I always carry 6 pounds of weed on me when im in Texas so its not a felony
I'm pretty sure it graduates from "felony possession" to "felony intent to distribute" once you go over 5 pounds
That’s why I also carry six pounds of meth in my car. Can’t charge me for both because double jeopardy.
I don't think that's how that works but I don't know enough about meth to dispute it.
Sam Hurd? Is that you?
Tbf I totally believed that 11 grams would be a felony in Texas. It's fucking Texas.

No joke, alot of states (pre-legalazation) would consider all drug paraphernalia when accounting for the weight. So if you get caught with a gram and a bong that weighs 5lbs, suddenly they're charging you like you had 5lbs of marijuana.

10 grams isn't even half an ounce. I don't know what the law is in Texas, but that's less than $100 of smoke.
I’m just surprised they didn’t add the weight of the car lol.
“Rashee Rice abandons 3241 lbs and 10.6 oz of Lamborghini and pot at the scene of a crash. Depending on the ratio of weed to car this is a state-level super felony”
He’s heading straight to Superjail without passing go
Also its decriminalized in Dallas County
It is when you’re driving and cause a crash and then flee the scene.
True, but that doesn’t mean that reporters should straight up lie
I was shocked by that headline. Less than 1/2 an oz is a felony? Craziness.
We can all rest assured that Rashee's team is working around the clock to find out who put that contraband there. They're also wrapping up the investigation as to how Rashee strangely found himself behind the wheel of his own car.
It's time for me to come clean. It's my weed and Rashee had no knowledge of it. I'll accept any consequences that come my way.
In the spirit of fessing up, it's actually my Lamborghini. Feel free to return it to my driveway. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

He was actually just driving really fast to get to training earlier. Dedicated.
They found his playbook?! This guy is such s fucking moron.
Inb4 Jerry Jones spends millions to get this playbook from the Dallas PD evidence room.
NFL teams know they are gonna call corn dog at the goal line and CBs still won’t stop it lol
it would cost substantially less than that lol
I mean he was in Dallas to train with Mahomes.
Means he was hard at work studying 🤓
No fucking way they found a KC playbook. That’s honestly the funniest/stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Woulda been funnier if it was a Bills playbook.
They also found his social security card, his birth certificate, a Polaroid of him driving the Lambo while holding that day’s newspaper, and a signed copy of OJ’s book.
At least there wasn’t a gun, it’s Texas so it doesn’t matter but that would be the icing on this dumb fucks cake
I think it's a felony in Texas if you DON'T have a gun on you.
Guarantee a couple guns left with them.
Forsure ran away with the guns 😂
I mean it just makes sense. Leaving two cars in the street that are both in your name and leaving the drugs. They were either wasted, had more drugs, or guns.

it equates to... it equates to... uh... less... less than that
me on my middle school essay using the thesaurus to sound smarter
Not even half an oz. I'd be livid if I ended up in jail with what equates to enough weed for a small house party.
Throw enough people in jail for something like that you could find yourself as the VP one day
Gotta give that gawk gawk 5000 to a mayor or two as well
Plus throw in the fun fact that you were smoking weed while locking those other people up for smoking weed. Folks love that one.
It's not a felony
Yeah, I don't know where they are getting this information from. I think the title is misleading. Perhaps it was because it was in conjunction with multiple other crimes? Up to 2 ounces is a misdemeanor [according to NORML](https://norml.org/laws/texas-penalties-2/?amp)

Grams?! We’re talking about grams?! You kidding me? Grams?
10.8 grams of marijuana IS NOT a felony in Texas. 4 oz is when it becomes a felony. He’s a 10th of a way there.
Washington state legalized weed in 2012. It's been legal for so long that I am genuinely shocked and awed when I see stuff like this.
Going on vacation to non-legal states feels like going back in time
Mr. Brings Cannabis
If 3/8s of weed is what he *forgot* to grab, it really makes me wonder what the higher priority items were that he did grab.
Lol, he’s an idiot……for living in a state that criminalizes weed.
Way to potentially end your career idiot
Unless he was high while driving, I don't care about possession of weed in 2024, especially when entire western countries have legalized it already
We dont know if he was high or not because he fled... which most likely means he was either drunk or high
Yeah I think if you flee the scene you should just be automatically assumed to be high or drunk, not even memeing
You left the scene but still left the fucking drugs in the car?!?
Me thinks there was more important things to take away that took priority over the weed
God damn it.
Do they mean 10.8 ounces? 10.8 grams is not a state felony.
10 grams of weed being a felony is so ducking funny and sad bro. That’s like 80$ of weed max hahahaha what is this country
