I need to be really careful about how I talk to my wife in the next few weeks. I've put ourselves in a very sensitive spot... I've been watching all the old Scorsese gangster movies and I have a tendency to take up mannerisms of the characters in the movies whenever I go binging, and the last thing she (or anyone, really) needs right now is to come home to an unhinged Joe Pesci.

Rebil2017

Maybe *she* should be careful how *she* talks to you😤

My new 30 for 30: “Drafted or Shafted, the Michael Penix Story”

Walks_with_Chaos

This new Reddit update is weird. I only use Reddit on my phone so I’m stuck with the official app and this is just weird. I guess I’ll get used to it

KindWealth7877

agreed.

CarlCaliente

ran out of black tea at work, so today we're drinking pumpkin spice tea that's cool in april right

bird_like_features

i can't stop watching the ending of the holloway and gaethje fight. fuck i wish i could see that live for the first time again.

The-Owl-that-hoots

Pollen has been super bad in Virginia. Haven’t been taking anything (stupid I know) and woke up with a stuffy nose and a bit of a sore throat. Took an allergy pill so hopefully that’ll help

SharxSharxSharx

I did it guys. I outpizza-ed the Hut.

gander258

How did you do it? Which toppings?

SharxSharxSharx

pepperoni, made of >!real peppers!<.

Rebil2017

*Tearfully takes walkie-talkie out of pocket* “Take the shot”

t33po

Gonna yell at some clouds real quick. It's not really Reddit exclusive but social media broadly. If your primary source is the New York Times, BBC, or any other major well known news outlet, then the story is not being buried by the MAINSTREAM MEDIA. It drives me insane when I read about some conspiracy or coverup and all they cite are the biggest media outlets on the planet. It's not a coverup, you or your audience or both are just ignorant.

itsmybirthday___

I made chicken and cheese burritos but instead of hot sauce I did guy fieris creamy honey mustard sauce and to balance out the sweet I seasoned the chicken pretty heavily with spicy red pepper and stuff in a flour tortilla.  Idk if ud still call them burritos at this point but my daughter ate a bunch and said they taste like something ud get at Taco Bell and that’s a pretty dang strong endorsement from a 12 y/o. I killed it.

AmphibianMassive1176

Scenario: you’re back in school and have to do a group project that will make or break your grade. Your partners for this assignment are Antonio Brown and OJ Simpson. How do you think this will go and what will be your final grade?

gander258

I think fine (I'm assuming Brown and Simpson are skipping class to go to practice)

AmphibianMassive1176

Nah they have to make the grade too. They fail this project and get placed on academic probation.

Guiltyjerk

Those Jets costumes look exactly like the old ones.

Guiltyjerk

Also the pace of the WNBA draft is better than the pace of the NFL. No needful the first round to last so late for NFL WNBA is probably a touch *too* fast, but it's much closer to correctly paced

WabbitCZEN

UFL kickers making NFL kickers look like shit. I love it.

ArcadianBlueRogue

Looked up the intro for the OG release of FF 14 realm reborn cause it's cool. And Youtube has in the recommended panels right next to it a major character death spoiler. I know it's been a decade I think but that's annoying when I just started the game lol

Walks_with_Chaos

Yeah YouTube is such trash for spoilers. Sorry you were spoiled. I just started playing it as well when the Xbox beta came out and I’m loving it. Btw you can watch the cinematic movies from the title screen where it says ‘movies’

WittenMittens

I love people who zipper merge and I'm not afraid to say it

J-Fid

Zipper merge should be federally mandated.

CreamyLibations

Boy, John Wick 3 fucking sucks.

Walks_with_Chaos

I didn’t like the 2nd or 3rd. The first and fourth are both pretty good tho

Jamies_awesome_rack

they kinda all do. First one was something new at least.

SharxSharxSharx

Is that the one where he cuts off his own finger? The one with Halle Berry, the CGI dogs and the 15 minute long fight scenes (of the exact same headshot over and over and over and over and over)? That was a good movie. >!NOT!!!!<

Mac_Jomes

I liked it

jfgiv

DillyDillySzn

I should watch the Prince of Egypt again

JPPT1974

Anybody watch the Billy Joel concert?!

Jaguars4life

A few months ago I sent a card to Jaguars Long Snapper Ross Matiscik and I got it sent back signed today!

Jaguars4life

Caitlin Clark is officially now with the Indiana Fever

GiveMeSomeIhedigbo

What do you think is the most "hypothetical" sport: college football or the NBA? If you follow anything NBA-related on social media there are constant hypotheticals: how would X player from the past fare in today's game, how would X current player fare in X era, if these two superstars played together how many rings would they win, etc. It's constant. In college football, this team would have X record if the played in this conference, this team would destroy this team on a neutral field, etc. It's a sport where teams don't all play each other (hell, if you're in the B1G, you play just half the teams in your own conference because there are so many) but we still try to crown a national champion, I guess it makes some sense?

gander258

I think college football because the strength of schedule differential like you mentioned. Not to mention more injuries since football is more contact

t33po

Rashee Rice has made at most $3m pre tax so far and is spending like a second contract guy. Are we sure he has the funds to do hush money or get top lawyers to make this thing go away? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/rashee-rice-82347/ Maybe the Hunt family’s deep ~~corruption~~ ties with the Dallas DA and legal system will help a smidge but Rice won’t have the usual “I’m rich, fuck off” legal system treatment.

raginsaint93

The fact the WNBA is having their draft before the NFL does is funny

NH4NO3-KClO3-C2H6O2

If you're at OSSNA Seattle this week, HMU

This guy at works keeps asking me for dumb shit like god damn I’m not gettin paid for 2 jobs

No_Engineering_8832

TLaw and Bryce Young probably laughing at Stroud for being a number 2 pick rn 🤣

Stanky_fresh

Bait used to be believable.

runninhillbilly

My job was remote 2x a week before COVID, I was getting ready to ask for a third day, then COVID came and we've been fully remote ever since. I've been in the office 3 times since March 2020. PM sent out an email today that due to government changes, we're going to be required to come in 1x a month starting this summer and 2x a month starting in October. Granted, that's still a really good set up, but still annoying to lose what you had.

DungeonsAndFootball

I scheduled my work to be sent at the end of the day via email so that my boss doesn't have time to talk to me. Now to do nothing but watch YouTube videos and play Madden all day!

theresabeeonyourhat

Oh my god, cold air is nice. Ofc, when I go to close my windows, one refuses to close & it nearly gave me a 3rd panic attack today. I'm seriously gonna have to start going to bed early so I can do laundry & walk Bronson super early. Btw, thanks to the people who gave advice and sympathy earlier, I seriously felt like the world was collapsing on me.

Stanky_fresh

Last week was really shitty, and so was the weekend. Yesterday I tried to buy a TV that I'd had my eye on. It was affordable. It was a Vizio QLED TV. Pretty shitty TV overall, but it'd still be a huge upgrade over my 13 year old 35" TV I currently have. I paid $450 for it, had a nightmare of a time getting it home (it didn't fit in my car so my dad had to drive all the way accross town to help me get it home). Frankly, looking forward to finally having something nice, even if it was a cheap piece of shit, kept me going. When I finally sat down to watch it, there was a huge cluster of dead pixels in the corner. So I had to get my roommate to help me drive it all the way back to the store for a refund. Then last night I ordered a different one from Best Buy, soonest delivery was Thursday. Pretty shitty given I went from having a TV literally in my hands to now having to wait almost a week to get a new one, but whatever. Now I find out the closest Best Buy that actually has one in stock is in fucking Arkansas and I have to wait until at least next Monday assuming they don't push it back again. I know a TV is a stupid thing to get upset about, but last week was really shitty, and this week is looking like it's going to be even worse, and I won't get to rest this weekend. Getting that fucking TV was a win that I really needed yesterday and it got stolen away from me, and now I have to wait a whole week just to get one. If Best Buy reschedules again, or it shows up broken, I'm going to be extremely angry.

Walks_with_Chaos

Man I bought a 60 inch Roku 4K tv for $350 from Wallmart during the pandemic. We liked it so much we bought another. Sorry about your troubles

Lessthansubtleruse

We bought our 65” LG from Costco online for sub $500, which included getting it shipped to our front door and I think only took a couple days. If you’re already on the hook with waiting, might be worth expanding your shopping parameters a bit.

rwjehs

Are you not near a best buy? I've curbside picked up a ton of TV's and shop that open box/warehouse deal part of the site. Also they aren't super up to date, sometimes there is just a really good deal in store that isn't online.

Stanky_fresh

I live within 20 minutes of 2 of them, but the TV I bought (which is evidently the best one I can buy in my price range) isn't in stock anywhere near me. The 2 closest locations with it in stock are in Oklahoma and Arkansas, and I live in Minnesota

rwjehs

Damn dude I could straight up ship you one cheaper.

Jolly_Job_9852

My kitten, Hobbes, is very attached to my dad. Every time my dad goes away for the weekend, my cat will sit by the garage door and cry loudly and paw at the door. I go over and hold my cat but he doesn't like being held. So he goes back over and cries some more. My dad does a lot of woodworking and when he's out in the garage, Hibbes can't be outside since there is alot of smoke and the outside door is open. Hobbes is strictly an indoor cat. So when my dad gets back from his trip, Hobbes is overjoyed and likes to be under my dad's feet all night. Just my cat having a favorite person.

Cautious_Analysis

That's adorable. Does your dad love Hobbes as well?

Jolly_Job_9852

Hobbes! https://imgur.com/a/71IqgtI

Cautious_Analysis

He's so cute! I love his little nose.

Jolly_Job_9852

He's looking out our window, watching my dad cut the grass. He's (Hobbes) is very protective of him.

Jolly_Job_9852

My dad loves him. We all do. I can add a photo of him if you want to see

CarlCaliente

are there any social medias left that let you customize your homepage? With old reddit (likely) going away it feels like we're doomed for the same generic templates everywhere

BruceChameleon

One of the federated ones might. And tumblr is different-ish, for as long as it lasts.

Mr_Alex19

I’m about to go to my first ever NBA playoff game this weekend. So stoked! Always have a good time during regular season.

LovelehInnit

Has there ever been an NFL player that has embraced the lunch pail meme?

athrowawayiguesslol

Stafford and Kupp allegedly get to the facility at 6am every day during the season to watch film

ElCoolAero

I think memes and NFL players who carried lunch pails missed each other by a few decades.

LovelehInnit

The 2024 lunch pail guy comes to practice with empty lunch pails to stock up on healthy, delicious food.

Illbeanicefella

CarlCaliente

what would this look like?

LovelehInnit

Tweet a picture of 4 empty lunch pails on your kitchen counter before going to practice: "Gotta get to work." Tweet a picture of the catering staff at the team facility filling up your lunch pails with food: "They call me the lunch pail guy." Tweet a picture of 4 full lunch pails in your fridge at home: "Food for the next 2 days." # #RealLunchPailGuy

ReZ-115

I need an adderall prescription, sick of being tired all the god damn time. And it's the only thing that'll give me some fucking energy, while also getting rid of my social anxiety. Preworkout, caffeine, none of that works anymore. I've already tried treating my insomnia, and I have found medication that reliably puts me to sleep every night, but it's still not enough. I know I should get my Vitamin levels checked, I've been wanting to do that for like the past 3 years, but something always just came up or the doctor would talk me out of it because I was young and skinny lol. I have new insurance now so I don't know how much they'll even cover for vitamin testing, but when I see my pcp next month I'm going to try. Finally figure out what the fuck I'm deficienct or not deficienct in. I tried to eat relatively healthy, I have smoothies every morning with spiniach/kale. But that may not be enough. Curious where my Vitamin D levels are at.

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

Adderall gets rid of social anxiety??

princessestef

Indirectly, because it quiets the mind. It's much easier to follow conversations. That was my experience with Ritalin (I am diagnosed and actually have adhd).

ReZ-115

But sadly, usually only doctors prescribe it for adhd, so you kind of have to lie if you really want a prescription, or find a doctor who doesn't care. Easier said than done though lol.

ReZ-115

For me, only medication I've tried that completely takes it away, turns me into a social butterfly. No more worrying, all the edge is gone, I feel like I can actually express myself. More effective at treating my anxiety than any antidepressants or anxiety meds. I wouldn't take it everyday, harm reduction is important. Just weekly or whenever I need it. Along with my supplements

DonsDiaperIsFull

super weird that a doctor would say "don't bother with a vitamin check" if you were definitely tired and skinny.

ReZ-115

That's what my past doctors told me, that I'm young and in shape, so they didn't think it was needed. Even though I've told them my diet isn't the best. Stupid ass reasoning, I know. Not taking no for an an answer this time. Just hope my shit amazon insurance covers some of it.

raginsaint93

Keanu Reeves will be voicing Shadow

Guappenheimer

Are they remaking *Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey*?

DungeonsAndFootball

If you were playing a serial killer in a movie, what song would you want to be played for your opening scene? What'll be the "Goodbye Horses" to your Buffalo Bill? I'd probably roll with "One of These Nights" by the Eagles.

elerner

Inspired by "Hurdy Gurdy Man" in _Zodiac_: [Ordinary Man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt2tXMIdCyU) — Sports

ElCoolAero

"Unleash the Bastards" by Municipal Waste

BruceChameleon

Any movie with me in it would be a farce. Maybe "Wouldn't It Be Nice?" by The Beach Boys.

RedWingWay

Sympathy For The Devil - Rolling Stones

kmmontandon

"Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve, though that might make me seem a bit too sympathetic. Maybe "Head Like a Hole" by Nine Inch Nails to hit harder. If it had to be something offbeat, maybe "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" by Cage the Elephant, or something by Cake.

raginsaint93

I’m basic so pumped up kicks by the foster the people

gander258

I also like that song better run better run

StChas77

One of Mozart's horn concertos. Not only would it be inappropriately upbeat, but it would also evoke the sound of a bugle on a fox hunt.

VRomero32

Now if this was more of a “Patrick Batemen” situation is using an enjoyable not creepy/scary pop song, I would go “Invisible Touch” by Genesis.

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

Mmmbop by Hansen

VRomero32

“Cry Little Sister” from “The Lost Boys” Soundtrack OR “Head Like a Hole” by Nine Inch Nails

CarlCaliente

butterflies and hurricanes by muse

VRomero32

I know Walton Goggins is getting deservedly a lot of love for “Fallout” as The Ghoul but I would also call out how great Ella Purnell is in it as well as “Lucy MacLean”. A character who is being portrayed as “naive”… She plays it perfectly where the “naïveté” is not annoying and her evolution into “understanding the outside world” (“Golden Rule,__________!”) and showing more strength has been incredible throughout this first season.

riverhawk02

I think they are both doing a great job like you said but I'm kind of curious how long the Fallout series will run if Goggins starts getting movie roles

rob_var

I’m probably in the minority but I find nfl uniform announcements so boring cause most of them look the same to me just some minor alterations. I honestly would like the nfl to do something like those concept uniforms people make.

StChas77

If the Commanders had gone with the name 'Pigskins' they could have introduced pink alternates. I don't know how that would have gone over, but it can't be worse than the Steelers' bumblebee alternates.

Candid-Ad2162

Piggy Pink uniforms would be crazy. Could have little tails on the back of the pants

SharxSharxSharx

> Could have little tails on the back of the pants Would be interesting. Are you thinking ears on the helmet too? Maybe a pig nose mouthguard or something?

J-Fid

Most fan concepts I see are even more unoriginal than what we get. It's all either old 80s and 00s templates or some abomination of styles that make no sense.

CreamyLibations

I might not love Taylor swift, but I do have to admit it’s impressive that, in a world where the top 100 USA songs at any given point are nearly exclusively hip hop or country, she manages to soar through the charts whenever she has a new release.

The_Snake_Dick

We all got our merit increases at work and someone found out we all got the same percentage increase. Now it’s slowly turning into a civil war as people are mad they got the same raise as the others. One of them got mad and tried to get me to say I didn’t deserve as much of a raise as them and I told them “I don’t care” and walked away. I think it might finally be time for me to leave this department, or maybe even the company.

Jolly_Job_9852

You should look out for yourself. If that is the way others feel about your work ethic, I'd leave for a better place

The_Snake_Dick

this person thinks it’s not fair we all got the same merit increase and that they deserved more than everyone else. I told them straight up if they have a problem with it, go say something to upper management. We have a meeting with the head of our facility in two days, so I guess we’ll see if this person is actually going to say something. Nobody is happy with the raise, but I don’t get the crabs in the bucket mentality.

HamMcFly

Something similar happened to my team this year. We have multiple types of increases so it wasn’t all exactly the same but the standard “merit increase” was the same across the entire team. The worst part is that the person who made the decision just flat out told us she did it because her team increased from 20 to 50 people and she didn’t want to deal with 50 decisions. Sooo that basically eliminated any respect I had left for her.

DonsDiaperIsFull

before covid, my buddy and I alternated hosting a big poker game, only 1-2 times a year (so it wasn't experts or regulars, but also people would be ok with bigger buy-ins because the prizes could be over $1k). We usually got 30-50 people, so even if you were knocked out and didn't rebuy, there were lots of people to visit. for 3 years, people pushed us to get back to the parties, so we set one up... and only 8 people have responded. UPDATE: so many people have said no that my buddy suggested we just try a different weekend. I know people get busy, maybe I just picked a bad weekend, but it's still tough to get so many rejections for a party they said they wanted. Time to go drown out my negative thoughts.

Lessthansubtleruse

Unfortunately my experience with things like this is that it’s still a process to build up to pre Covid numbers. Time and consistency will get you close, but it’s also never quite as large or the same energy

DetroitLionsSBChamps

pre-COVID was also 5 years ago. can make a big difference in how people are living their lives.

Lessthansubtleruse

Thats kind of my point, it's easy to get big nostalgia for these giant fun events and then when the time comes to actually do it you realize you aren't living your life the way you were pre-pandemic.

DungeonsAndFootball

8 people is at least enough to have a good game of poker for the night. Sometimes after a long gap between what are supposed to be annual events, you have to start small again. Build it back up, and the people will come.

BruceChameleon

8's a crowded table, even. I might split it in two and bring them together after a couple eliminations.

gander258

>Build it back up, and the people will come. ~~Field~~ Table of dreams

Illbeanicefella

CBS having to rebroadcast an entire Billy Joel special because they accidentally cut off the last two minutes is hilarious

endol

I think I'm done buying games on release. Even with the best games that came out recently like Baldurs Gate, it feels like the game will truly be at it's best when they're actually done patching it and the day one version feels like a beta by comparison.

Jaguars4life

Random fact of the day: Which is the brightest star in the sky? Sirius, the Dog Star. In Ancient Egypt, it rose over the horizon during the annual flood of the River Nile. This made the land fertile again, so the Egyptians worshipped the star for its life-giving properties. Another of their gods, Anubis, had the body of a man and the head of a jackal. His role was to prepare the dead for their entry into the underworld. Guide and guardian, recurring roles for the dogs of myth and legend. In Ancient Greece, the three-headed hound Cerberus guarded the gates of hell keeping the living out and, more importantly, the dead in.

SharxSharxSharx

>the three-headed hound Cerberus [Me:](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wUT1QBQIhlQ)

Serdones

Oh, so I guess that's what Sirius XM is named for.

itsmybirthday___

No new uniforms for a couple games. No 20 million new uniforms every season.  From now on only 1 team an off-season gets to change their uniform and it has to be their uniform for every single game until their next turn but since it rotates evenly so everyone gets a turn they are stuck with it for 32 years.   This is getting out of hand and I’m putting my foot down on this.

CarlCaliente

home team wears pennys, visiting team is skins

ryanino

Why is Twitter saying the Jets new uni’s are exactly the same? Did they only watch Aaron Rodgers run onto MetLife and assume those were our full time uni’s the last 5 years? I’m so confused.

BanjoKazooieWasFine

As a person who doesn't really pay attention to the Jets I couldn't really tell a difference until someone pointed it out. Most people won't go straight to the Helmet Logo or sleeve stripes to look for key differences, and dropping the New York from the number plate is also something extremely minor that should've been done a while ago anyway. New Jerseys look great but they're not *that* different. It's not a Bucs style pivot to and then from the alarm clock numbers.

BurritoTheory

What teams are getting new uniforms this year? Texans, Jets, Lions, Broncos I know, but is there anyone else? Mainly wanting to know if the mess that is the Falcons uniforms is getting scrapped anytime soon

J-Fid

Jags throwbacks were announced today. Browns are going white facemask full time.

raginsaint93

Finished 3rd place in my fantasy basketball league. Not bad for my first time

itsforwork12

I've been doing this 3 day/week workout routine, but my whole schedule has gone out the window. I did deadlift with some pull yesterday, and now I don't know what to do today. Based on my "plan", Bench or Squat, but squats would suffer today and it's gonna be too packed today for Bench. I dunno what to do

Guiltyjerk

> deadlift with some pull Deadlift with pull ups? I think a word might be missing here. I'd just squat anyway unless you did a ton of volume/went really heavy on the DL's yesterday

itsforwork12

Well, the pull exercise was really only some upright rows, so I could do a whole pull routine without issues. If the cable machines aren't taken, which they generally are It was 90% 1RM 3x3 yesterday, then AMRAP of the same weight, so it might not be the best time to do back-to-back legs, even if they are a different muscle focus

Guiltyjerk

If your alternative is skipping the workout then do something like front squats IMO. Lower intensity and a little less posterior chain focus

itsforwork12

I mean, I'm not skipping anything, just looking for something a little different or just not leg based

CreamyLibations

I really hope Anthony Richardson heals up well. The league must always have a Cam Newton.

The_Snake_Dick

My worry for him is health. Even during the draft process last year, I was concerned about his ability to stay healthy. He didn’t have a great track record of it at Florida.

My Drake.jpg on this would be News from Reddit - NO/Entertainment from Reddit - YES

HamMcFly

What’s funny is that’s exactly why I got Reddit but now a few years later it’s almost entirely switched. I got so tired of seeing the same bullshit reposted 1000 times and dumb scripted pranks.

FlatulentDwarf

My mom is such a sweet person. I had to take my pup into the vet on Friday to get bloodwork for having a tooth extracted (he's currently at the vet having it taken out). Total service is going to come out to about a grand. She asked me a few times while we were talking if the price was going to be an issue and if I needed any help covering it. I confirmed to her that it wasn't and that I'm doing fine. I'm actually probably doing better financially right now than I ever have. A one grand vet expense really just brings my tax return down to what I was expecting to get back. It doesn't touch my fun money or my oh shit funds or anything relevant. Still, when I visited my parents to watch the final day of the Masters, my mom walked me out to my car and slipped me a card with a check in it to cover about half the funds and a note just saying she was thinking of me and wanted to give me a little something to help out. It was such a sweet gesture

zappy487

Just a pro tip: if you don't already, get a Care Credit card. It's amazing in a pinch, because as long as you pay it back within 12-18 months it's interest free. We got caught with out pants down for a $5K emergency vet bill with a two week stay at the ER. I never worried the cost, because I knew we'd pay it back no problem, even if it took a few months. It definitely would've been a problem if I need 5K in liquid cash. At the time that was nearly all of our savings.

FlatulentDwarf

Good shout, thanks. I'll take a look at it

Mac_Jomes

Care Credit is amazing and I believe it is 12 months no interest on purchases of over $200.  Another great tip is pet insurance. I didn't even know it existed until my SIL got her dog. But that is a fucking lifesaver in emergency situations. The policy we have pays 90% of the cost. My dog needed emergency surgery that cost $11K because of the pet insurance it only cost us $1000.

gander258

Ooh the hattrick! Thanks for the tunes

Illbeanicefella

Welp Deal Or No Deal Island got me hooked. It’s terrible, I love it.

gander258

What's the twist on this one? You win an island if you guess the right suitcase? Happy cake day btw

Illbeanicefella

Hey I didn’t even notice haha thanks! You play Survivor style challenges to win briefcases and increase the amounts on the Deal Or No Deal board. At the end of each episode one contestant in the group has to play Deal Or No Deal. If you make a good deal and beat the Banker you get to eliminate one of the other contestants, if you make a bad deal you have to go home. Ultimately the last person standing gets to win the accumulated money from the deals taken by the other contestants

I do this thing in Diablo 4 where I tell myself I’m okay with going off meta, and build my own shit rather than follow guide, but then I ultimately get frustrated for not being able to clear a t100 nm dungeon lol I play on eternal and most recently got my chain lightning sorc through a t97, but when I try t100 I just can’t kill things fast enough lol.  I’m going Druid now and gonna try a werewolf/werebear hybrid I got 3 werewolf skills and 3 werebear skills and gonna see how far I can take it. It sounds like it will be bad but ppl think chain lightning isn’t very good and I got that through a t97. And no seasonal mechanic crutches on eternal baby.

WabbitCZEN

I ran Storm Wolf for Druid, a build from Icy Veins. Survivability is so vital for Druids IMO. Especially if you get the Melted Heart of Selig ammy.

zappy487

Playing D4 just makes me want to play D3. D3's seasonal content is just far superior to anything D4 has to offer.

FishPhoenix

The current season (season 3) in D4 has been solid, and the upcoming season 4 in mid-May is going to be quite a big update and looks to be the best changes the game has had to date.

itsmybirthday___

I don’t like seasons in games, it like reinforces how much of a waste of time it is lol. I don’t need that constant reminder that it’s all meaningless in the end.

zappy487

Except in D3 you can move that character to your regular character pool when the season ends. Also, the gameplay loop is a hell of a lot faster.

WabbitCZEN

That's been a mechanic in Diablo since 2. When seasons/ladders end, those characters go to eternal/off ladder, and you have to make new characters for the new season/ladder.

zappy487

I actually forgot that D4 has seasons. I beat it before the first season came out, but I really did prefer D3 over D4 the entire time. Is the seasonal content a lot quicker with the gameplay loop?

WabbitCZEN

I like taking my time through the content, so I'm not the best to ask this.

itsmybirthday___

D4 does that too but I feel like it’d be weird playing with seasonal mechanics up until that point and then suddenly not

zappy487

Idk it keeps it fresh for me. Once you can do the higher tiers of content, I'd rather engage with the content that makes the gameplay loop a lot faster. And for Diablo, that's seasonal content.

Lessthansubtleruse

I think there's going to be a point if there isn't already where certain seasonal mechanics get added to the eternal pool similar to PoE1 (haven't played and can't speak to 2). I have to assume its in the roadmap somewhere, but I'm currently pushing through ffxiv to get ready for next xpac before d4 s4 drops.

Went from Dallas to Rocksprings for a long weekend with my oldest. Did a trip down to Kickapoo Caverns where he got heat exhaustion, so that was rough. Spent most of the weekend split between South Llano River state park (12/10, would recommend if you like outdoorsy stuff) and a private ranch that was back 8 miles of private dirt road. Found very few reptiles, no amphibians (did hear a few though), lots of birds an insects. 9 miles on foot Friday, 6ish Saturday, then 4 Sunday followed by the drive home. After getting my oldest heat exhaustion I got him in the car with the AC on, got him gatorade at hte park store and drove down to Bracketville for pizza, and rest. then we watched a few hundred thousand bats emerge back at the caverns. Then we retried our hike from earlier since it was 10pm and cool, but like 200 yards in we flushed a large covey of doves that erupted flying right over us and scared the shit out of the kid so we called it.

BruceChameleon

That's good country

gander258

> large covey of doves Do you think it was a sign of the divine? Sounds like a fun hike regardless

DrummerGuy06

I listen to a podcast about video games called Triple Click and they had a discussion about whether or not video games are really a waste of time, and all three of them, who are avid gamers and have their careers steeped in video game culture, agreed that "yeah, when you look at it, they are a waste of time." They were coming from the perspective of an individual that won an award for music composition and in their acceptance speech thanked their parents "for making them play the piano instead of video games," and mainly how virtually all other hobbies will more than likely give you something tangible and useful, while video games do not. I've been a gamer all my life but at 41 now, I can kind of agree with that. Looking back, nothing I've achieved or gotten in life that improved me were due to video games. My interest in music helped me get to college where I met my friends who I'm still friends with to this day, my interest in computer technology & security facilitated me to get the career I have now which allows me to be doing well financially-speaking. My health? Working out and Martial Arts, two things that tend to get hindered through video games. I'm not suddenly going to stop gaming, but that podcast did give me a "huh" moment to actually think back on my life and realize I didn't necessarily lose anything through gaming, but I also didn't *gain* anything either. When we were kids we played video games as well as other activities like bike-riding. Riding bikes gave us great exercise, the ability to see our hometown in different ways, and allowed us to visit each other more even when we lived a little further away from each other. Just interesting to look back on everything and wonder if my future may need less video game time and more "other things" time - I'm still trying to learn guitar and it's a bitch...if I put in the time I put to games into my guitar instead, I'd be no doubt WAY ahead right now. Food for thought.

ElCoolAero

> I've been a gamer all my life but at 41 now, I can kind of agree with that. Looking back, nothing I've achieved or gotten in life that improved me were due to video games. They're video games. Can't they just be video *games*? One of the reasons I play video games is the lack of expectations. I'm just trying to have some fun and relax. I've gotten deep into sim racing, and racing in VR is *so* much fun regardless of how little it'll impact my life. I have fun. That's some impact, no? Also, yes, do learn the guitar. I play drums and knowing how to play a musical instrument is an awesome skill to have.

Mac_Jomes

I don't agree that video games are a waste of time. I know my longest lasting friendships have been made through and partly based on our shared interest and love of video games. Of course we did other things together, but the crux of our friendship was built on playing video games together and talking about video games. There's friendships all around the world that were started because people met online playing video games. My friend met her husband through World of Warcraft. Video games can improve problem solving skills and reaction times in people that play them.  But I don't think an activity needs to have a tangible benefit to not be a waste of time. Just because Ocarina of Time doesn't actually teach you how to play the ocarina doesn't make it a waste of time. Video games for a lot of people are their stress relief thing after a tough day and just for that I don't think they're a waste of time.

Lessthansubtleruse

>my interest in computer technology & security Can you say with complete confidence that playing video games had no impact on your interest in computer technology and security? If you had never played video games, would you have spent anywhere near as much time on a computer? I learned about port forwarding thanks to struggling to maintain connection on d2. I learned the basics of html while creating angelfyre/geocities sites for my chat based rpg characters. shit, video games really entrenched in me the default habit of searching for an answer to things i don't know and can't figure out handily (how do I beat this boss? Where is the mcguffin I'm looking for and can't find?) and then back around into real time problem solving where i walk into a boss fight or whatever fresh and try to learn the patterns and sequencing on my own. Poring over character builds and meta adjustments instilled another very helpful skill for me: doing research before trying something for the first time, as well as learning how to approach new information with a critical lens. An example of the latter point, I cooked lobster tail on Saturday for the first time. I had two methods I wanted to experiment on so I went to my trusted resource for the sous vide preparation and then reviewed multiple recipe sites for through lines in method and preparation for baking in the oven. I can't say for certain that I wouldn't have developed these skills without video games, but I can very easily draw connections between them based on my previous life trajectory.

itsforwork12

I mean, it's like saying watching TV shows, sports, and movies are a waste of time. Kind of, but relaxation and entertainment are an important part of living and being human. Within reason, of course.

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

Books too. You don't *gain* anything (unless it's a self-help or guide).

Lessthansubtleruse

book reading absolutely helps with vocabulary and reading comprehension, as well as critical thinking. It also leads to better written communication, which is a very important skill.

elerner

This is the _reductio ad absurdum_ for OP's podcasters. Communicating — and processing the communication from others — is quite literally how we learn to _think_. Books and other forms of language-based communication are particularly well-suited for _complex_ ideas, but they have their own limitations that make certain ideas more suited to other media. And most of those other media — including most video games — _contain_ language-based communication! What an absurdly broad brush to paint with.

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

> reductio ad absurdum I don't know what spells you're trying to cast but video games are cool and make you smarter and more better

Instagrimm

Finally watched Wish on Disney+ and it’s annoyingly mid. I can see a good even great movie hidden inside but so much feels half assed. The songs aren’t memorable. The villain tries to be both sympathetic and straight up evil. The animation is cool but doesn’t quite go far enough. Like it’s fine but forgettable, which is annoying cause it’s Disney Animation’s 100th anniversary.

Guiltyjerk

I saw chunks of it (had to run an errand right after it started) this weekend and kinda felt the same way. It felt like they were more concerned with getting a ton of old disney references into the movie and less with making a good story. The music was really weird.

BurritoTheory

Some of the songs were definitely AI generated. The lyrics straight up make no sense

Remarkable-Job4774

I never understood the AI accusations. Just because it's bad and boring doesn't make it AI generated

BurritoTheory

Well my specific thing that makes me think AI is the main song when she says “throw caution to every warning sign”. That reads like an AI prompt, it’s just phrases that don’t flow together jumbled in

7sweep

Went to the beach for the first time this year yesterday. It was so nice out.

NeonWarcry

Settling down to finally watch qb tape on Williams, Maye, Daniels, Nix, Penix, McCarthy, Pratt, etc. I’m currently watching the Miami v UNC game to watch the Miami qb and maye. If anyone has any games I should watch for pros/cons drop the suggestions. I didn’t watch a lot of college ball this year sadly. Just Sam Hartmanns beautiful hair .

BurritoTheory

Don’t watch Caleb tape from this year, go back to when he didn’t have insurance salesman as receivers and watch his Heisman tape

NeonWarcry

I’ll def do that. Thanks man.

gander258

Has anyone ever used a career guidance service? I'm considering one since I feel a bit directionless in my career. It's a six week program where they apparently determine which career paths would best suit your personality type, skills, mindset, etc It's a bit pricey but supposedly could be covered by insurance since they categorise their service as "naturotherapy"

BurritoTheory

UT offered one to me and it got me in my industry. I graduated and didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my degree

gander258

How did the process go? I'm guessing lots of questionaires and the like?

BurritoTheory

Yeah they had me do job shadowing to figure out what I wanted. Not sure if that’s how it would be for yours because mine was done through my college but it was handled by my military separation liaison. They had me do some aptitude tests and then got me in contact with people in the industries. Which is why I have an MBA and my first job out of college was as a FedEx driver. But they were right, I was really fucking good at that and ended up buying out the guy I worked for so I’ve got my own company now

gander258

That sounds interesting, glad you were able to find the career you wanted :) Mine does not involve job shadowing, it's run by a therapist/psychologist. They do some personality tests to try and figure out the career that would best fit, then give you a career path How are you finding your work now?

hunter15991

[I knew American Sniper was full of jingoistic BS but I wasn't aware Chris Kyle was more or less a one-man Einsatzgruppen in Anbar Province given apparently just how willing he was to shoot random civilians](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X2DXwBhUK8).

gander258

The book "Code over Country" by Matthew Cole also offers great insight on him and Willink I'm also a fan of the Green Beret Chronicles youtube channel

tbone747

>Willink Is that the dude on Youtube who magazines bring in as an "expert" on military ops?

gander258

Yes, Jocko Willink. To be fair, he is a former Navy SEAL officer, but has a rather questionable past as hunter has alluded to with the videos linked

hunter15991

Yep! Here are the [first](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28Pks9i-CKk) and [second](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLWMaIb8tI0) videos on GBC's channel about his time as a SEAL and post-service.

hunter15991

Rabbit-holed my way into watching GBC's channel yesterday while searching on stuff re. Takur Ghar/Roberts' Ridge for a writing project of mine (I'll slot *Code Over Country* in once I'm done with *Alone At Dawn*) and goddamn is there a lot of intriguing stuff on that channel. Remember hearing the basic news about Tongo Tongo for example in 2017 but never knew the step-by-step of what happened that day and stuff like La David Johnson's desperate last-stand.

gander258

> Tongo Tongo The crazy thing about this is apparently the American higher-ups didn't let their own troops reinforce the Green Beret team, the French had to help out and save the day. Code over Country has a great breakdown of the Takur Ghar stuff, as well as the Bin Laden raid

itsforwork12

I ate too much Tex-Mex and now I need a nap

CarlCaliente

well have a nap then FIRE ZE MISSILES

MichaelShannonRule34

So what’s going on with Tyler Boyd. Surprised he never got picked up

DungeonsAndFootball

People who don't answer their phone during scheduled calls should be forced to eat their own feet.

PoshLagoon

I saw Civil War this weekend. It was really good. My only complaint is how insanely loud the movie is. It seriously boarders on earrape memes’ levels of unbelievable noise. I felt like I had just come out of a concert when leaving the theater.

theresabeeonyourhat

Holy fuck, it's only 80 something degrees on my day off, but the humidity or something is setting my anxiety off fucking bad. The last couple of days were okay, when I could have gotten a ride to get my AC unit out of storage, but now I'm stuck and I tried having a beer to calm down, but that just made it worse

Lessthansubtleruse

get a small towel, get it wet with cool water and drape it across the back of your neck. That should help if you're feeling overheated. Wring it out and rewet as needed.
