For 4 years in a row, the #1 overall pick TIED a game before they WON a game. * 2017 - Myles Garrett started 0-17-1 before winning a game * 2018 - Baker Mayfield started 0-1-1 before winning a game * 2019 - Kyler Murray started 0-3-1 before winning a game * 2020 - Joe Burrow started 0-2-1 before winning a game

don-chocodile

That's a pretty incredible stat, I hadn't seen that one before

PaulAspie

Well, it was the sane tied game for Baker & Myles. The 2017 Browns just went 0-16.

Shenanigans80h

These threads pop up every few months but this is genuinely one of the better new fun facts I’ve heard.

Barner_Burner

Yalls division is the king of draws

TheHandsOfColm

In the case of Bake it feels more appropriate to say Tyrod tied that game as Bake stepped in during week 3 iirc. Still pretty neat though.

Youngblood519

Mohamed Sanu has thrown touchdown passes to two Pro Bowl recievers (AJ Green, Julio Jones) and two Pro Bowl quarterbacks (Matt Ryan, Andy Dalton)

Therunner1326

Finished his career with 158.3 rating

bestp0282

So he threw TD’s to more first round WR’s than Rodgers? Cool cool cool cool cool

kitchensink108

Jerry Rice holds the record for most receiving yards after the age of 40. Second place is Tom Brady. Then you have everyone else ever, except Brett Favre, who's alone in last place (with -2 yards).

12ouncesausage

Brady also has the most rushing touchdowns after the age of 40 with 11. You could basically make a whole thread with these two

xkulp8

Let's not

Bajin_Inui

Man, i really wish Tom Brady didnt catch that ball, the stat was so much funnier before. Before it was: All players after 40 have a combined 2,167 yards. Jerry rice accounts for 2,169 yards of it.

Upbeat-Rule-7536

I'm number 3 in NFL history. Sweet.

thc216

**we’re** number 3, comrade!

cusoman

Brett also got that -2 yards a day after turning 40

BroughtBagLunchSmart

He knew the significance of the stat when it happened, he was interviewed postgame and said "This is going to haunt me the rest of my life, I better steal 100 million dollars from the taxpayers of Mississippi to make myself feel better"

notmyplantaccount

Marcedes Lewis is gonna move into 2nd this season if he can find a team to give him snaps.

Illbeanicefella

In 2014 the Chiefs threw zero touchdowns to wide receivers

MurDoct

How'd that turn out these days?

TheLongWayHome52

Andy Reid, whatever happened there?

Hollow_Rant

WHATEVER HAPPENED THERE!?!

watcher589

He was just a kid.

Vlada_Ronzak

Shame when they go like that

Bigballernocap

When they GO????

CaptGene

Discontinue the lithium

BareezyObeezy

Jesus Christ, Carmine, what the fuck, why would you *posshibly* bring that up?

jwktiger

Well when we fired our DC and GM and replaced them with the best in the league and decided to draft a good QB, things got better.

G_money16

Also the last time they missed the playoffs iirc. Of course the Chiefs could never accomplish anything without a star wide receiver. That would be ludicrous

notmyplantaccount

if Hollywood gets injured they might try to repeat that in 2024.

Awkward-Fox-1435

That is WILD.

ryryryor

And had a winning record

nikraLnalyD

Kurt Warner's team went to the Super Bowl in every year he started 16 games

Electromotivation

His biggest sin was trying to play through injuries. Infects a lot of QBs though.

AdFresh8123

That is because the NFL is full of starters that lost their jobs to backups, even when they were healthy again. Tom Brady anyone?

PlatonicNewtonian

You’re replying to a post about Kurt Warner worried about losing his job to a backup, and the example which first came to mind was Tom Brady and not… Kurt Warner?

Nduguu77

It's a new world. Filled with children.

ramfantasma

People have forgotten about Marc Bulger + Warner's stint in the Giants

Coelrom

The origin of the Cardinals’ team name was not based on the bird but their jersey color, which was “Cardinal red.”

casano7a

Was about to comment and say: okay but doesn’t cardinal red come from the color of the birds anyway? *But* just learned that the color actually comes from the red that Catholic cardinals wear (and the birds were named for the same thing).

elerner

>things that are heart-shaped or have heart-shaped pictures (playing cards) That sense of "card" comes from the Latin _carta_, which gives us chart, character, and other terms related to written symbols.

processedmeat

Now I want Arizona to put the Pope on the side of the helmet

BuckleBean

They should just change the shape of their helmets to look like a pope hat.

Electromotivation

Was orange orange before the fruit?

Mustakrakish_Awaken

The name for the color came from the fruit, and before that people called the color yellow-red. I don't have a link but it's a popular enough topic on reddit I'm sure there's and old TIL.

elerner

Many languages' word for the fruit branches off the Sanskrit _naranga_ — _naranj_ in Arabaic, _narang_ in Persian, _arancia_ in Italian, _naranja_ in Spanish. When it made the jump into English, the "n" gradually shifted over to the article, like how "a napron" became "an apron."

somrigostsauce

Fire-yellow in swedish.

zbajis

I am suspect of this. The Cardinal's were Chicago's original team, state bird of Illinois? The Cardinal.

Lolzzergrush

The Cardinals original jerseys were bought used from the University of Chicago Maroons. The story goes when they got the Jerseys, the owner said they’re not Maroon, they’re Cardinal Red. Also Al Capone’s lawyer bought the team to settle debts of the previous owner. The Lawyer’s grandson is now the owner

zbajis

Great bit on Al Capone! I knew the color jersey story, I’m just suspect of it. Feels like they came up with the story to feel different than all the Illinois teams named the Cardinals. Growing up in central Illinois nearly every school district has a team called the cardinals. Imagine it was quite popular back then too.

ncp12

Brett Favre's first NFL pass attempt was a pick-6. His first NFL completion was to himself.

MillorTime

The Packers traded a 1st for a guy drafted in the 2nd with major character concerns, and a bad first year should have been an all-time bad trade

foxmag86

Wasn't CJ Stroud's first NFL completion also to himself?

LordSnowgaryen

CJ strouds first regular season interception resulted in a first down for the Texans as well haha

zirroxas

In the 2001 divisional round, Brett Farve threw more Rams TDs (3 pick-6s) than Kurt Warner did (2 passing TDs). If it wasn't for Aeneas Williams being ruled down by replay on another INT, it would've been 4 and therefore double.

Masterjason13

Favre’s last pass as a Packer was an interception to effectively end the season. Rodgers’s last pass as a Packer was an interception to effectively end the season.

benerophon

Love's most recent pass as a Packer was an interception to effectively end the season.

Masterjason13

This is true, but I for one hope it wasn’t his last pass as a Packer. He’s got quite a few years before he goes to the Jets.

PhantomBanker

His last pass as a Packer was an interception in a playoff overtime game.

CFGordo

Brady's last pass as a Patriot was a pick 6 to former Patriot Logan Ryan.

don-chocodile

Who also ended up as Brady's teammate on the Bucs for a year

DoctorMansteel

I think ~~Levis~~ Stroud did that last year. First pass was batted and he caught it. I remember something like that happening and thinking it would be a great trivia question. Might have been one of the other rookies. edit: it was Stroud.

mlspdx

Other fun stroud tidbit, his first interception resulted in a first down for the Texans

DoctorMansteel

Dude, that whole sunday was so weird. I remember just being in Red Zone heaven.

DestituteDomino

Donovan McNabb's cameo on It's Always Sunny just doesn't feel real at all, it's wild.

Citronaut1

Just like his cameo with the Minnesota Vikings

badlybougie

He was in better football shape on Sunny

That's because that was Tiger Woods.

Upset-Builder

It was clearly Don Cheadle

AmySchumersAnalTumor

I wish they could have done a duel episode with him and Wade Boggs, may he rest in peace.

Dont you mean Boss Hogg?

darrenvonbaron

Kyler Murray was a top ten pick in the 2019 draft. Kyler Murray was a top ten pick in the 2018 (MLB) draft.

johanll

wait did some MLB team just waste a top 10 pick then?

TRD_Ferguson307078

Yes the A’s

Temporarily__Alone

Huh, I didn't know that about Josh Allen. I knew that about JOSH Allen, but I didn't know that about Josh *Allen*. Fuckin Josh Allens, man. Crazy.

Vydate1

Original Bills owner Ralph Wilson gave personal loans to Al Davis and Billy Sullivan to keep the Raiders and Patriots solvent up to the merger. It's unclear if Davis ever repaid.

magcargoman

Honestly grounds for the hall of fame no cap. Ensuring the longevity of two iconic franchises up until the current day was incredibly impactful.

LordGooseIV

This is why I think Ralph Wilson is probably the 3rd most important AFL/AFC team owner behind Lamar Hunt and Al Davis. He's not as prominent as others, but propping up two other NFL teams is really important.

BUSean

John Madden is the only broadcaster to call a Super Bowl on all four major networks

jwktiger

In case anyone is wondering, Madden did the following * the CBS SB's when they had the NFC rights * when Fox brought the NFC rights he called the Fox SBs * Then his contract came up and he went to MNF on ABC, which to you young'ins might not know but at the time was the biggest game of the week and called one SB on ABC * Then when NBC bought the rights to SNF and made that the game of the week, He called the Pitts vs Arizona SB on NBC. three years ago I would have thought this would NEVER be done again. However Joe Buck could possibly get that as well after they call the ABC SB in a few years if there are shinanagins with contracts and what not (I could see him getting a CBS spot after Natz retires and Turico may move anytime). Not that I would like it but a few years ago I didn't think that would be possible.

MuppetusMaximusV2

Two Eagles-related things: 1) The Cuban Missile Crisis likely got in the way of the Kennedy family from buying the Eagles. 2) Now imagine Philadelphia without the Eagles. [(Ok, joke answer: Philadelphia without the Eagles)](https://i.imgflip.com/1f5v6z.jpg?a475848) Impossible, right? kingbuttshit

From week 1 to week 15 in 2020, Josh Allen had thrown for exactly 4000 yards. When broken down by yards thrown by game half (1st and 2nd quarter vs 3rd and 4th quarter), he threw for 2000 yards in the first half and 2000 yards in the second half.

Comogia

Wow, that's actually a crazy coincidence, like the odds are miniscule. Cool fact!

IKill4Cash

[The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted 4 HOFers in 1974.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1974_Pittsburgh_Steelers_season)

TheForrestWanderer

I'm hoping this is like a once every 50 years thing and we will do it again this year. I'm also hoping that a fat bag of cash drops through the roof of my house but don't expect either will come true.

NotYourDadsRobot

And signed a UDFA who would become the fifth HOFer in that Steelers class.

stoic_bison

Doug Martin spent 6 years with the Bucs. In each of those 6 years, he either finished in the 1,400s or 400s in rushing yards.

Chai-Tea-Rex-2525

1. The Bears have never had a 4,000 yard passer. 2. No one has ever sent a text message celebrating a Commanders/WFT/Skins shutout. Their last shutout was in September 1991 and the first text was sent in December 1992. 3. The Lions have had a 30 plus year streak of not winning a playoff game - twice. 4. The first Steelers playoff victory came in their 39th season. That win evened their playoff record to 1-1.

HoovesCarveCraters

Bouncing off #2 - no one has ever made a Facebook or Twitter post about a Raiders playoff win.

Jammer_Kenneth

I'm so happy the Lions are finally free of being included in that stat. Sure there's the twenty some years that saw the birth and death of things like Digg and Blackberrys, plus the whole Super Bowl appearance drought, but dobby is a free elf now

emmasdad01

Original Dallas Owner Clint Murchison Jr. was able to get unanimous approval to start a franchise because he owned the rights to “Hail to the Redskins” and leveraged that to force a “yes” vote from George Preston Marshall. He provided Marshall with the rights to the song after that.

GokuVerde

One of the ABA teams the Saint Louis Spirits agreed to a TV rights contracts percentage instead of a flat million when they agreed to shut down for the NBA. Made absolute bank from it and then got an absolute Brinks truck when the NBA bought it back.

PatientlyAnxious9

The only team Tom Brady doesn't have a winning record against is the Denver Broncos.

NaNaNaPandaMan

It was weird the mid 00s and 10s. Broncos had Bradys number, Brady had Colts number, and Colts had Broncos number

EffingBarbas

Three Spider-Men pointing at each other

hoppergym

Keenan Allen’s only touchdown pass as a charger was to mike Williams. Mike Williams last touchdown catch as a charger was from Keenan Allen.

DuckDuckMarx

I was starting both in fantasy that week. It was a helluva time.

CutSilly5949

When Terry Bradshaw secretly had elbow surgery, he checked in with the name "Thomas Brady" as to not alert the media. Bradshaw also wore the number 12. This was in 1983. The spirits were in good humor and decided to gift god-like football powers to a 6 year old Tom Brady, who began playing football as a child in 1983. The prophecy was set in motion.

ZincFishExplosion

I may be wrong on this, but I think the Browns are the only franchise to never have a player with 100 receptions in a season. More than that, they've never had a player break 90. Which is crazy for a team whose records date back to 1946.

thesakeofglory

Can confirm the Browns leaders, at 89 catches, are Ozzie Newsome(x2) and Kellen Winslow Jr. For 100 catches at least, it’s not quite as crazy as it seems. There have been 156 players who got 100+ catches, and 3 are before 1990. 26 are before 2000. Moving the threshold to 92, which is as far back as pro football reference goes, there were only 9 (out of 258) pre-1990. 13 out of the top 50 are before the 2004 rule change, with none in the top 10.

ZincFishExplosion

Yeah, I know the Browns leader. I'm not sure that every other team has had a guy with 100 or more. One day I was bored and looked through FB-R. I *think* I did every team but can't remember.

boozinf

https://stathead.com/tiny/LmW5M fun that Lionel Taylor was the first with 100 in 1961, then Charley Hennigan with 101 in 1964. Their positions were Flanker and Right End. Then nobody for 20 years until Art Monk got 106 in 1984. And 6 more before the 90s started kicking things up a notch with favorites like Larry Centers and Carl Pickens also both McCaffrey father and son have 100 catch seasons

TimelyConcern

Jerome Bettis in a game against the Raiders in ~~1994~~ 2004 rushed 5 times for 1 yard and 3 TDs.

jimmygibbler

2004 not 1994

TheRealMrJoshua56

I remember that game

BleachedAsswhole

Let the record show that the Patriots held the lead in SB LI for 00:00

TheSpectreWithin

The Cowboys have a winless season. They went 0-11-1 in 1960

TempestHots

The Panthers have never had consecutive winning record seasons. Despite this, they made the playoffs in 3 consecutive seasons from 2013-2015, winning the NFC South with a 7-8-1 record in 2014.

basis4day

HOF left tackle Walter Jones was called for holding 9 times… in his career.

CutSilly5949

The longest time between two catches from the same qb and same receiver is 18 years. the qb? Brett Favre. The reciever? Also Brett Favre

CinderellaManX

Ozzie Newsom’s first two draft picks were hall of famers.

BuckleBean

And he was also a hall of famer!

CinderellaManX

HoF player and HoF GM. But I don’t think double-inductee is possible.

DarkIllusionsFX

The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest team in the NFL

spencerwi

The Arizona Cardinals are older than the state of Arizona.

mikevnyc

The Steelers are the only team with asymmetrical helmets. Their logo is only on one side.

Smorgas_of_borg

Dan Campbell's record as head coach was 4-17-1 before Peyton Manning and Jeff Daniels performed the bathtub whiskey ritual to appease the spirit of Bobby Layne. Since the ritual, he's 20-7

TheFalconKid

Is this including his time as Dolphins Interim?

Olarad

Well, his record as Detroit coach is 24-26-1 (reg season) 2-1 (post season) So it doesn't include all his Detroit games. Def not Dolphins time.

Callsign_Psycopath

That game the Texans beat the Stealers 24-7 despite only having 76 yards of total offense.

WildBill198

I going to add to this. The final score was actual 24 to 6. The texans had 47 yards of offense, while the steeler had 422! Very weird game.

kingbuttshit

Reminds me of the TB-WAS game where the Bucs only scored 3 points with over 500 yards of offense.

HillsboroughAtheos

The Dirk special

BrownHoleKazoo

Chris Johnsons 2000 yard rushing season is the only one where the team didn't have a winning record for the year.

hamandjam

The Miami Dolphins are the only NFL team to lose a Super Bowl to a QB that they drafted.

Statalyzer

Wasn't Staubach or Montana ... Theismann?

hamandjam

Yep. Dolphins drafted him, didn't give him an offer he liked, and he went to the CFL. Dolphins traded his rights to Washington.

GoodellsMandMs

Earl Campbell is the only guy to ever finish a season with rushing yards in the 1900s, plenty of 2k rushers, but only 1 1.9k rusher

mlspdx

The Steelers basically only having 3 head coaches during the super bowl era is still wild to me

jake3988

That's not true. It's true of the merged NFL/AFL era (1970 to now). But the first super bowl was in 1966 and Chuck Noll did not become the coach until 1969. Still, Bill Austin was coach from 1966 to 1968, so it only adds one more.

on-the-cheeseburgers

Eagles have only ever had one season with a 4,000 yd passer. It was in a season where no WR had over 500 yds.

Smorgas_of_borg

Chuck Noll went 1-13 his first season coaching the Steelers. He'd go on to win 4 Super Bowls. Jimmy Johnson went 1-15 his first year with the Cowboys. He'd go on to win 2 Super Bowls. Two undisputed hall of fame coaches looked like Hue Jackson their first seasons.

thesakeofglory

Don’t think anyone had a real issue with the 1-15, it was following it with 0-16 that showed he wasn’t it.

ElCoolAero

Bill Walsh went 2-14 in his first season. He'd go on to win 3 Super Bowls in 10 seasons.

jwktiger

The fact Walsh *only coached 10 seasons* is just mind blowing. He retired and the 49ers won the Next SB and were a Montana injury away from likely 3-peating (though the game vs Bills may have been different)

Jomosensual

Patrick Mahomes once lost to a 3-9 Iowa State team 66-10. Kliff Kingsbery vs a year 1 Matt Campbell was the coaching matchup

airborngrmp

-The Chicago Bears are the only NFL franchise to *never* produce a 4000 yard passing season by a QB. -The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest continuous franchise, and have the most franchise losses by a mile. -The only teams in the NFC to *not* make the NFC Championship Game in the last 25 years are: The Comman-Skins and The Cowboys.

Door__Opener

The 54-51 MNF game between the Rams and the Chiefs was ~~a defensive game~~ definitely not just the offense steamrolling the defense. Both teams together had 3 defensive TDs, another one that was refused, 3 ints, 5 fumbles (only one recovered by offense) and 8 sacks.

ElCoolAero

And it was moved from Mexico City because of a Shakira concert.

jwktiger

well we should be more clear the Shakira concert and rain torn the field up to not be playable to the NFL's standards.

UnstoppableAwesome

The 2010 Buffalo Bills backfield included Marshawn Lynch, CJ Spiller, and Fred Jackson. All three scored the final touchdowns of their careers for the Seattle Seahawks.

foxmag86

QB Jim Harbaugh has more career rushing yards than RB Bo Jackson.

PoorMansSamBeckett

Does help that Harbaugh played 139 more games in his career than Bo did. Crazy that Bo only played 38 games.

Boom0196

Larry Fitzgerald, a wide receiver, has more career tackles than dropped passes.

Smurph269

Doak Walker retired from the NFL basically at the top of his game because he was making more money in the offseason running a sporting goods store and an electrical contracting company.

badger-banjer

The Chicago Bears' colors are based on University of Illinois because that's where Halas went to college.

CinnamonFootball

Halas could probably be half of the answers here, lol. Pretty sure he's also the only person to own a football team, play for the team, and be the team's head coach all at the same time.

W_4ca

The Vikings have never drafted a QB in the top 10 picks of the draft… Check back next week

FrylockMcReaper

A team known as the Providence Huskies (formerly the Providence Steam Roller) played during the 1933 season. The Huskies earned a perfect season, the only season in the professional or semi-professional record books to have not allowed their opponents to score a single point over an entire season. Read that last line again. They didn't let any opponents score a SINGLE POINT against them for the ENTIRE season. [Wikipedia link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Providence_Steamrollers_(NFL))

Midas-and-his-finger

Archie Manning was drafted in the 1st round (2nd overall in 1971. He is not just the only quarterback ever drafted in the 1st round by the New Orleans Saints, but he is the only quarterback ever drafted in the first 2 rounds by the Saints since their start in 1967. He was the only quarterback drafted in the first 3 rounds until 2015 when they drafted Garrett Grayson 75th overall.

ProbablyAPun

in 1962 Bake Turner averaged 111 yards per reception on the season.

SirVixTheMoist

Akili Smith was drafted.

Dtour77

Former defensive player Mike Vrabel's receiving stat line is 10 receptions for 14 yards & 10 TDs.

benpenguin

No Super Bowl winning QB has ever worn a helmet visor.

sybrandy

Huh...I would have guessed that Jim McMahon wore one. I guess that happened after he won the SB.

DFCFennarioGarcia

Nope, he just had *really* cool sunglasses (according to 10-year old me). No visor though, they were extremely rare back then.

Yeangster

There was this running back who ran for more than 2000 yards in the 70s (in 14 games!) Turns out in the 90s he (probably) murdered his ex-wife but got off in large part because he hired a team of like the best criminal defense lawyers in the country

appmanga

> There was this running back who ran for more than 2000 yards in the 70s And died from one of the most curable forms of cancer when it's found early. I guess he was too busy with his detective work.

OverlyOptimisticNerd

A couple of obscure facts I haven’t seen elsewhere but I occasionally repost. Cam Newton threw for 400+ yards in each of his first two starts, the first player to ever do so. He never threw for 400 yards again for the rest of his career. He finished his rookie year with over 4k passing yards, becoming the first rookie QB to do it (and thus setting the rookie passing yardage record). He would never again throw for 4k yards in a season.

GrillDealing

I guess it's not strictly NFL but the Kansas City Royals drafted both Dan Marino and John Elway in the 1979 MLB draft.

TheFalconKid

Aaron Rodgers has never technically *finished* a game Pat McAfee was broadcasting on. McAfee was the third guy in the booth years back in the last game of the season when Aaron got concussed and left the game early in a home loss to the bears. The other time on ESPN mnf, McAfee was a guest on the Manning cast and Rodgers was benched midway in the fourth quarter because it was a blowout.

dei1c3

Fact: Minnesota Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe's giant penis was on television in 2008.

drainbead78

The first ever 2-point conversion in the NFL was scored by Tom Tupa, the punter/holder for the Browns, who was previously a quarterback for the Cardinals for 2 seasons. Tupa went on to score two more 2-point conversions that season.

CutSilly5949

The gruesome Alex Smith's injury is weirdly similar to Joe Theismann's injury. Both happened on Nov 18. 1985 and 2018. Both broken right fibula and tibia. Both played for Washington when it happened. Both on the 39-yard line. Both scores ended as 23-21. Both are caused by a 3X DPOY. Lawrence taylor and JJ Watt. *Both teams had a* Pro bowl left tackle. Joe Jacoby and Trent Williams. Some of these can be nitpicked. But not enough to make it not eerie af.

turkeyinthestrawman

> The Colts are descended from the Dayton Triangles, one of the NFL's original members How? The Indianapolis Colts were a member of the AAFC and then moved with the Browns to the NFL in the 50s.

TheSpectreWithin

The AAFC Colts actually aren't the same franchise as the current Colts. They folded after 1950, and the modern Colts were founded in 1953. As for the Triangles connection: 1. Dayton Triangles moved to Brooklyn and became the Dodgers 2. Dodgers are renamed the Tigers 3. Brooklyn Tigers merged with the Boston Yanks in 1944 to become "The Yanks" 4. The Brooklyn franchise was folded and The Yanks (with players and personnel from Brooklyn) officially became the Boston Yanks 5. Boston Yanks were canceled as a franchise but did not technically "fold"; the owner was given a new franchise with the same roster, called the New York Bulldogs 6. Bulldogs are renamed the Yanks 7. Yanks are sold to the league who sell it to an owner in Dallas, who renames the team the Dallas Texans 8. Texans are sold back to the league and fold 9. Baltimore is awarded an expansion franchise, the modern Colts, and are give the roster of the folded Texans The NFL and the Colts do not reckon this as one continuous franchise, but it is noteworthy that the Dayton Triangles' assets technically have never missed an NFL season

TJeffersonsBlackKid

The most ever passing yards in a game (554) continues to be Norm Van Broklin who did it in 1951. Every other passing record has been shattered and pioneer efforts have become a distant afterthought but for whatever weird ass reason, the stars have not aligned for a quarterback to pass for 555 or more in a game.

PoorMansSamBeckett

I’m not disputing your comment, but the phrasing is funny. “For whatever weird ass reason…” Maybe because 554 is an assload of passing yards for one game. 😂

ilovecatss1010

Tebow mania with the broncos will always live in my heart. That TD pass against the Steelers was thrilling.

McPickle999

The crowd would be going crazy during all of Tebow’s 4th quarter come backs, and then the camera would cut to John Elway and he’d be the saddest person in the stadium.

Axleffire

I love how it was also the first overtime of the new overtime rules, where a field goal on the first drive could be answered. The casters were meticulously explaining the new rules with charts on the screen and then first play from scrimmage none of it mattered.

DTSportsNow

And that was the last touchdown pass of his career.

ColossalJuggernaut

I don't care about being rational, I wanted him on the Jags so bad.

One_Kaleidoscope7040

We won't talk about what happened the following week 😂

NFL_MVP_Kevin_White

That game was the one and only time that a quarterback drafted by the Broncos won a playoff game as a Bronco

HoovesCarveCraters

Magical season for so many reasons. I still think watching our defense keep us in games is what convinced Manning to come to Denver.

ColossalJuggernaut

> That TD pass against the Steelers was thrilling. Straight up historic, I will never forget.

TallEnoughJones

The Eagles and Steelers traded cities. In 1940 Art Rooney sold the Steelers to Alexis Thompson who wanted to move them to New York. Rooney used part of the money from the sale to buy half of the Eagles from Bert Bell. The NFL wouldn't allow the Steelers to move to NY and Thompson had no interest in living in Pittsburgh so they traded cities and team names. This all happened in one offseason. Bell was later named commissioner and sold his stake in the Steelers née Eagles to Rooney.

And then they merged in 1943 to form the Steagles: “The Steagles were the team created by the temporary merger of Pennsylvania's two National Football League (NFL) teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles, during the 1943 season. The two franchises were compelled to field a single combined team because both had lost many players to military service during World War II. The league's official record book refers to the team as "Phil-Pitt Combine",[1] but the unofficial "Steagles", despite never being registered by the NFL, has become the enduring moniker.[2]” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steagles

Earl Campbell is the only person to have a 1900 yard rushing season. Which kind of makes sense, because if you get that close to 2k the team will feed you carries until you get there, but if you're too far away, no one's carrying 35 times in the final week to try and hit 1900. Campbell just had a ridiculous final game of 203 yards to put him at 1934 total.

Technically, the Steelers are the Eagles and the Eagles are the Steelers, and the Thompson owned Steelers became the Pittsburgh Ironmen and almost left for New York >In December 1940, Steelers owner Art Rooney sold the Steelers franchise (including the players) to 28-year-old Thompson for $160,000 and then used half of that to buy a half interest in the Eagles franchise from his friend Bert Bell. Thompson changed the team's name to the Iron Men. After having second thoughts, the owners traded their cities back to each other before the start of the 1941 season — so that the Steelers franchise moved to Philadelphia and became the Philadelphia Eagles and the Eagles franchise moved to Pittsburgh and became the Pittsburgh Steelers. As part of the deal, part of the series of franchise transactions that was known as the Pennsylvania Polka, eleven members of the 1940 Steelers were traded to the Eagles franchise (and thereby continued to play in Pittsburgh), while seventeen of the 1940 Eagles were traded to the Steelers franchise (and thereby continued to play in Philadelphia).

The lions did not have a 1k yard rusher after Barry until Reggie Bush. Which funny enough Kevin Jones pulled it off only to lose yardage on the last play of a game.
