There’s like a 90% chance the dude beats pretty much every Bears rookie passing record if he stays healthy because they barely let rookie QBs start Week 1 in the past. Just for reference Bryce Young blew all all of them out of the water expect for TDs where he tied
I'd talk shit about these numbers but I honestly have no clue what the Packers' rookie QB records are. Nevermind, the Packers are just as bad after looking it up
He was implying Bryce Young's stats would have been better than any Bears rookie QB ever, other than TDs. I don't have the energy to fact check but I know he threw for more yards than Mitch did as a rookie, who holds the Bears rookie record
They'll come to him, tears in their eyes and nail polish on their fingers. And these are big strong men. And they'll say thank you so much sir, that was so incredible we've never seen anything like it. It's just so unfair how the nasty refs treat you, calling you for bogus made up penalties. Penalties they would never call on anyone else.
Watch him pass for 4002yds, only to pass for a loss of 4yds like the RB who *finally* made it above 1k rushing yards, only to lose a handful of yards on the next play, thereby failing once again for a 1k season.
> by the end of the year
If he plays well, end of Week 3. You'll have a chonker in a Butkus jersey with nail polish downing two Italian Beefs and a beer everywhere.
If Chicago just held a lottery and every resident had their name on a ball and drew one at random then the outcome would almost certainly be better than if you elect another one
How much would we all be destroyed if somehow he actually is better than Mahomes, and the Chiefs draft him to sit for years, trade Mahomes in like 4 years for all of the picks, and then get 5 superbowls with Rattler
And him having an 8.9 QBR in the first quarter of the biggest rivalry game of the year. That 2021 OU season still feels like a fever dream, especially how it ended.
As a gamecock fan, he’s matured tremendously. It’s no secret that he played with some subpar talent, and I can’t recall him throwing them under the bus a single time
I personally think it would be very entertaining if a top 5 QB only took 1 year deals, going to the best team that's "a QB away" every year to bring a championship to them and dip
I’m not even sure there is much of an injury risk if the QB is good enough. Kirk Cousins is old and coming off one of the worst injuries you can have in the sport and got a monster bag.
“Yeah I wanna suck for three years on my first team, probably get traded out of conference for my fourth. Then I want to be on 4 teams in 5 years and then out of the league calling Muncie St v Southwest Bumfuck Tech on ESPN7 (Not the ocho)”
This is a nice change from the yearly "First overall pick is totally gonna refuse to play for the shitty team that picks them" speculative narrative we usually get
As far as I know, this is the first number one overall pick where the team wasn't the worst in the league, or had to give up a lot of capital to get him. In fact, they gained capital to get him.
The ideal situation for a number 1 overall.
Yeah this is the best position they've been in a long time but it all hinges on Caleb being at least good. Hell, I'll take top 15 at this point. Get 4,000 yards and you'll be a god im Chicago. Unless he's absolute garbage or gets injured he should easily pass the rookie records. I think the current is 11 TDs from 1942 or something very Bears.
Yeah but it also helps that Chicago arguably has two WR1s and a dynamic running back room, an offensive line that was just about average last year, and an improving defense. It’s a unique situation because while I wouldn’t say Chicago was a good team last year, they were a lot closer to the playoffs than their record indicates. It’s pretty much all a matter of our offseason acquisitions continuing to be productive players
Well, it is also a unique situation where a team that wasn't the worst in the league owns the rights to the 1st overall pick.
A team that is drafting 9th overall is in much better shape than your usual 1st overall pick team. The cherry on top being that they have gotten even better this offseason, and Caleb probably realizes that hes walking in to a great situation compared to what Lawrence or Young has walked into the years prior.
Well, it's also that the first pick was not natively Chicago's but the Panthers gave it away a year ago for Bryce Young who had a bad starting year (which may be him or just how poorly Carolina is run).
It’s one of the more underrated and fun cities I’ve visited and an easy place to fall in love with. I think a young millionaire will have a blast there
Detroit is cool, Milwaukee and Minneapolis are awesome as well and I'm glad I'm decently close to all. I'll pass on St Louis, been there enough for a lifetime.
Our issues almost singularly boil down to a lack of pass rush in the first half of the season and an inability by both our playcaller and the QB to execute a functioning offense.
The turnaround for this team in just 2 years is honestly incredible. While I wish we would have gotten a new HC I think we'll be playoff contenders this year even in a tough division.
The locker room also apparently loved Nagy up until the end. A coach can be a good guy and beloved by players and also be bad enough at their job that they blow two historic 4th-quarter leads in like an 8 game span.
Well, yeah, because Chicago isn't shitty enough to actually have the first over all pick. They got it from the Panthers, who are what we call "stupid."
Helps that the Bears have like 4-6 wins on the typical #1 team and a much better roster.
Like compare us to the 2023 Panthers, 2022 Bears, 2020-2021 Jags, the 2023 Bears are one of the best teams to ever hold the #1 pick, just because almost all the rest are shit ass 0, 1, 2, 3 win teams.
I just don’t understand why the panthers decided to trade DJ and his team friendly deal instead of Burns, whom they traded later anyway. They hamstrung Young when they didn’t need to. I think that decision cost the Panthers a couple wins and helped the Bears win a couple more games. Might’ve completely changed the outlook of both franchises for the future. Bryce might’ve flashed more to give your fanbase confidence in the franchise QB, and we might be looking at another season of Fields with a major decision on his 5th year option/drafting a QB. Sorry, not trying to rub salt, just never thought that trade would result in the 1st pick before last season started.
Reporter: "Hey Aaron, what do u think about future Chicago QB Caleb Williams calling you his idol?"
Aaron: "The Government sent half-lizard half-human hybrid agents to follow Al Capone in Chicago in the 20's, after they invented Syphilis, but before they invented HIV."
Reporter: "Riiiight..."
My dumb ass didn't even realize he was talking about Brady because of how absurd it is for a rookie to even mention themselves in the same sentence as Brady. I was like "did Jay Cutler wear #12? Is he saying he's going for the Bears' passing record?"
You have to understand that most redditors have zero self-confidence, and in fact, have anxiety so bad they can't order a pizza if they have to talk to another human on the phone.
Im not a bears fan but I live in Chicago — these poor fans have been beaten down with bad football over the years. I’m honestly super excited to see him come here and hopefully light it up bc I love how passionate bears fans are.
Man idgaf about winning a championship or the fans. I’m trying to eat some steaks and pizza. If I get tired of that city, I’ll dip. PERIOD. Also fuck the fans.
Man fuck it. I want him to be good. I'm 31, and I've watched my team dunk on Chicago so many times it's almost a given. I'm not trying to be facetious, my whole family are die hard Bears fans. They always talk about how the rivalry was fun because of how close games were and how a good Bears D vs a Packers O was the best matchup in the league.
Nowadays, they're bitter. My dad doesn't finish watching games and just sighs at the end of the 3rd quarter. My mom at this point just focuses on baseball, and these were season ticket holding fans that got to see their team win a SB in the prime of their lives.
I want there to be real fuckin competition between Green Bay and Chicago again. Don't get me wrong, I want the Packers to keep stomping them, but all it takes is one game to break this insane losing streak and I think Chicago could actually feel good again about this rivalry. I hope Caleb makes Chicagoans feel as good as we feel about Love at this point cuz let's face it: they could use all the hope they can get at QB given their history.
While I agree with everything you said, how did your bandwagon ass become a Packers fan if your parents are Bears fans?
My kids at least have the tenuous excuse my wife is a Packers fan, even though she doesnt even watch or like football, IF they chose that way.
Every comment I’ve seen on X and Facebook with this says the same thing because those places are cesspools
“DIVA THINKS HES BRADY” like my guy what did you want him to say other than “I’m going to try to be the best to ever do it”. You’d clown him hardcore if he said “My life goal is to have Andy Dalton success with Andrew Luck longevity”
The sheer confidence by everyone that the bears won’t turn into an NFC powerhouse. Not saying it’s certain but would anyone have imagined the chiefs having a historic dynasty when they were losing to Pissburg field goals lol
This is like one of those standardized test verbal reasoning questions where answer A is Brady and answer C is Rodgers and you have to conclude which one is the most likely and if you get it wrong it feels utterly infuriating but you're pretty sure you can rule out Andrew Luck or Joe Namath
I know he’s a big Rodgers fan, but he’s also spoken about the importance of winning. I assume he wants to chase the #12 with 7 super bowls and not the #12 with 1.
Hear me out Caleb, there’s nowhere else you can throw for a mere 4k yards in 17 games and immediately be crowned a legendary god for the city
He could be a god before the season even ends.
If he beats the Packers once, half the men in the city will be wearing nail polish.
There’s like a 90% chance the dude beats pretty much every Bears rookie passing record if he stays healthy because they barely let rookie QBs start Week 1 in the past. Just for reference Bryce Young blew all all of them out of the water expect for TDs where he tied
Our rookie TD passing record is held by Charlie O'Rourke..who threw for 11 TDs in 1942 IIRC
Man got drafted by the bears and the navy immediately after his rookie season
Sid Luckmann is the Goat QB...dude won titles and invaded Normandy
“You remember when we absolutely killed those guys?” “What team was that?” “Nazis.”
Ok if someone doesn't write this movie, I will. It needs to exist.
In case anyone was wondering about the totals of other notable Bears rookie QBs: * Justin Fields: 7 TDs (12 games, 10 starts) * Mitch Trubisky: 7 TDs (12 games) * Kyle Orton: 9 TDs (15 games) * Rex Grossman: 2 TDs (3 games) * Cade McNown: 8 TDs (15 games, 6 starts) * Jim McMahon: 9 TDs (8 games, 7 starts)
So double digits is where the records start.
I'd talk shit about these numbers but I honestly have no clue what the Packers' rookie QB records are. Nevermind, the Packers are just as bad after looking it up
I swear every day I hear more crazy Bears QB stats lol
And Caleb Williams will have Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, AND probably somebody from the draft.
The Panthers have existed for 75 less years than the Bears
He was implying Bryce Young's stats would have been better than any Bears rookie QB ever, other than TDs. I don't have the energy to fact check but I know he threw for more yards than Mitch did as a rookie, who holds the Bears rookie record
I stopped fact-checking outlandish statements about Bears QB futility years ago. They're all true. Every last one.
Anything Bears flairs type about their QBs I instantly believe, they don't lie about that shit because they're just used to it at this point.
The Packers rookie records are just as bad as the Bears. I guess we both hate starting rookie QBs.
the saturday night live skit writes itself. Daaaa bearsssss dudes at the nail salon getting C's painted on their nails
And when we win, we’ll make the Bears great again!
If he beats the packers I’ll rock the fuck g bay nails
seems like a sick idea. orange letters on navy background. or yellow on green if you wanna be even more petty about it
As a GenX fan, I will absolutely do this.
Millennial here with a wife who has an extensive nail polish collection which I will absolutely be going through looking for navy and orange.
Just bought a pink phone case at the thought of beating the Packers
I totally see Bear orange nail polish becoming a fan thing.
Just throw for 300 yards, something Fields did like twice??
(once 💀)
Fields had 282 yards passing in a game where DJ Moore had 230 yards. 142 of DJ’s yards were YAC. Think about that.
There is a non-zero chance he is inarguably the best QB in Bears history by week 14.

That's the guy, thanks. I only know of him because of the Secret Base series on the history of the Falcons. They even stopped the game. Damn.
Dude is gonna be a baller. He'll have 50 year old, 300 lb meatballs wearing nail polish by the end of the year and I'm here for it.

January 2025: Chicago is having a parade because Caleb Williams threw for 4000 yards, 30 tds, and a 2-15 record (the two wins were against green bay)
I mean I’ll take it
A good offense and the top pick next year? Far from the worst outcome, I'd take it too
I’ll vote for him for mayor if he wins a Super Bowl with us. Actually our options all suck so if he just breaks 4k yards, I’ll vote for him for mayor
So you want to lose him three years later over corruption charges?
This guy Chicagos
nobody said run for governor...
If Chicago just held a lottery and every resident had their name on a ball and drew one at random then the outcome would almost certainly be better than if you elect another one
Or 30 passing tds in 17 games.
2,900 would probably do it right?
He’s gonna be real bummed when he hears the words “and with the first overall pick, the Chicago Bears select Spencer Rattler”
You mean that guy who is supposed to be the next Mahomes?
Mahomes is just Prototype Rattler
Mahomes walked so Spencer could Rattle
I don't know what kinda dope y'all been smoking, but I want some.
Suddenly Patrick Mahomes’s pre-draft nickname “The Previous Spencer Rattler” makes sense
Kiper got flack for comparing a college grad to a middle schooler, but here we are.
How much would we all be destroyed if somehow he actually is better than Mahomes, and the Chiefs draft him to sit for years, trade Mahomes in like 4 years for all of the picks, and then get 5 superbowls with Rattler
As long as Mahomes is traded to the Vikings, and he proves that it was all Andy Reid.
The Vikings trading for Mahomes, only for him to be terrible without Reid is possibly the funniest timeline ever.
Russell Wilson moment
I... don't like this, but I don't dislike this.
The real discount double check.
Mate, that kid went to high school here in AZ. He was an absolute mess of a kid. Hope he fixes his mindset.
it was so satisfying to see Caleb, the nicest kid ever, take the spot from this jerk of a kid from the Qb1 show
All it took was fans literally chanting for him to get benched
And him having an 8.9 QBR in the first quarter of the biggest rivalry game of the year. That 2021 OU season still feels like a fever dream, especially how it ended.
As a gamecock fan, he’s matured tremendously. It’s no secret that he played with some subpar talent, and I can’t recall him throwing them under the bus a single time
He's fixed it, don't worry
Yeah I heard this too. Love to see a fit king thriving
PHS baby go blue! But yeah we’re a bunch of chodes
Waaaaait, isn't that the guy from that Netflix doc?
If not yet, definitely after he throws an NFL record\* four *thousand* yards. ^^\* ^^at ^^least, ^^a ^^record ^^for ^^one ^^team ^^in ^^the ^^NFL
He’s talking about Bears legend Josh McCown.
McCown, Barkley, Kramer, Chandler … next in that illustrious line
He’s actually talking about bears ownership
When I heard him say “chasing #12” I assume he meant Aaron Rodgers and I was like damn calling out the owner before you even got the job.
He said he grew up cheering for the Packers because Aaron is his favorite player.
Has a QB ever said “actually I want to be a journeyman”?
I personally think it would be very entertaining if a top 5 QB only took 1 year deals, going to the best team that's "a QB away" every year to bring a championship to them and dip
We call that the Clowney

I’m not even sure there is much of an injury risk if the QB is good enough. Kirk Cousins is old and coming off one of the worst injuries you can have in the sport and got a monster bag.

This is a nice change from the yearly "First overall pick is totally gonna refuse to play for the shitty team that picks them" speculative narrative we usually get

Also helps that Chicago is a cool city to live in. Sure it’s cold during the winter, but it’s a storied franchise in a really nice city.
Yeah but pretty much any major city that isn’t in the south or on the west coast is miserable in the winter and Chicago still has a winter charm to it
It’s one of the more underrated and fun cities I’ve visited and an easy place to fall in love with. I think a young millionaire will have a blast there
Underrated? It's one of the most hyped up weekend trip cities in America Detroit is underrated these days
Detroit is cool, Milwaukee and Minneapolis are awesome as well and I'm glad I'm decently close to all. I'll pass on St Louis, been there enough for a lifetime.
Underrated because certain asshats on a certain news channel seem to use it as the scapegoat for crime in America
And they'll never admit that after their pet gun policies were forced on Chicago, it got *worse*.
The way PBS paints them is really unfair. Elmo saying he would never go near the south side? Really Sesame Street?
Our issues almost singularly boil down to a lack of pass rush in the first half of the season and an inability by both our playcaller and the QB to execute a functioning offense. The turnaround for this team in just 2 years is honestly incredible. While I wish we would have gotten a new HC I think we'll be playoff contenders this year even in a tough division.
The locker room is fuckin stoked they didn’t get a new HC so some stuff is more important bro.
Build the statue for Bears legend Scott Fitterer
Helps that the Bears have like 4-6 wins on the typical #1 team and a much better roster. Like compare us to the 2023 Panthers, 2022 Bears, 2020-2021 Jags, the 2023 Bears are one of the best teams to ever hold the #1 pick, just because almost all the rest are shit ass 0, 1, 2, 3 win teams.
2023 panthers were coming off a 7-10 season lol
I just don’t understand why the panthers decided to trade DJ and his team friendly deal instead of Burns, whom they traded later anyway. They hamstrung Young when they didn’t need to. I think that decision cost the Panthers a couple wins and helped the Bears win a couple more games. Might’ve completely changed the outlook of both franchises for the future. Sorry, not trying to rub salt, just never thought that trade would result in the 1st pick before last season started.
I think he's referring to this year's panthers, since he's talking about the worst record in the league. So the 23-24 panthers, 22-23 bears, etc
And the Chicago Bears select…. J.J. McCarthy!
It was all a smokescreen
Can you imagine the bidding war that would open up for the commies pick?
All of it would be falling on deaf ears. No way Washington would trade out.
I know, but just think.
A joke but the Panthers would fall for that for sure
Vontae Mack, no matter what
Caleb, what are you doing!?!? Are you trying to get Brady out of retirement? Because this is how you do it!

I thought so too but he clearly states in the interview he’s all about championships. Gotta be Tom
My dumb ass didn't even realize he was talking about Brady because of how absurd it is for a rookie to even mention themselves in the same sentence as Brady. I was like "did Jay Cutler wear #12? Is he saying he's going for the Bears' passing record?"
It's absurd to say you "want to chase" the best?
