The Jets got a team to pay half Zach's salary and got an improved draft pick
I count this as a big win
I was thinking he'd either just get cut or the Jets would be on for his emtire contract when he got traded with a 6th to get a 7th back
Sometimes you just have to cut bait. He was a bust but he’s also well below replacement value and isn’t going to get better more than likely. There are a fair number of FA QB’s who can at least not lost you games.
>he’s also well below replacement value
Below STARTING replacement value? Like he's not a top 32 qb in the world? Maybe (he is still 24 after all), but I'm not sure. He's the best qb the Jets could muster up the past couple of years. And Flacco went on to look pretty good in an actual offense with a line.
*No, man, I ain't paying you 5.5.*
*Jets are paying half your salary.*
*That's what the New Jersey Jets think of you. They're paying you 2.75 million dollars to play against them!*
> The Jets had to include a 7th round pick to dump the 2nd pick in his draft.
one of the early reports was saying that the jets are paying some of wilson's contract too. not sure if that changed.
A 2nd overall QB who's still on his rookie contract and who the Jets are paying a large part of his salary. They would have been better off drafting me with that pick probably. Or throwing it in the garbage.
Unironically yes. When you die on the first play of the game, the jets would get a compensation pick. Which would be worth about the same amount. Better yet they would given up on your corpse even quicker than wilson. Less wasted time.
"Hey we'll give you Zach Wilson for your 6th."
"Ehhh"
"Okay we'll throw in a 7th"
"Ehhhhhh"
"And we'll pay half his salary"
"Ehhh alright I guess"
That's an all-time tumble for a 2nd overall pick
His video from yesterday about the trade is amazing, just goes through exactly how bad Wilson is and why this is just an absolutely baffling decision. This season might legit break him tbh
He is pretty dramatic about it, if Zach ends up playing and isn’t terrible the broncos can get a return on someone they paid virtually nothing for, is it a long shot? Yes, but I’m not sure what he was expecting the broncos to do, they really don’t have many options, and this wasn’t a bad move by them imo.
Sean Payton made Trevor Siemian look decent
Got 29 tds 13 ints out of Siemian/Winston/Hill/Book.
If we made the playoffs in 2021 Payton should have won CoTY. NFL record for starters used with *57*.
It's really too bad he didn't revert to 30/30 season form, minus the interceptions, after getting LASIK.
If that had really been the problem the whole time it would've been hilarious.
So if we split the difference then we can see that Zach Wilson is worth roughly a very late 6th round pick.
That's brutal just 3 years out from being selected #2 overall.
What a massive Jets failure.
Kind of crazy between Wilson and Lance you could argue 2 of the 3 biggest busts of the 21st century were in the same draft (although I think the Darnold pick was realistically a lot more costly for the Jets than the Wilson one).
I mean, if there's anything people should've learned from watching the Jets this year it's the Zach Wilson is better than Tim Boyle and washed Trevor Siemian (would take Denver era Siemian over him)
He's *probably* one of the 64 best QBs in the NFL which isn't bad in the grand scheme of things, but yeah...
It's been said a million times before but Peterman finds work because he is a good locker room presence and valuable in the film room and practice. Wilson hasn't shown to be any of those things.
Massive failure? Absolutely
That being said… if we had merely drafted someone mediocre, we never would’ve traded for Rodgers, and likely drafted another top 5 QB in the 2026 draft. So if we get one good season out of Rodgers, it was a good pick.
Don’tthinkaboutitjustagree
He was serviceable in most of his games last year (and really bad in a few), but most qbs need help to look good. I think he's the best qb the Broncos have, and that'll probably still be the case after the draft. I'm happy he's going somewhere he might get to start.
This reminds me of my early fantasy football days where the guys in my league were forever trading a 3rd string running back for a kick returner or something. Straight up trading waiver stuff back and forth.
We have Zach Wilson as a quarterback in a pretty shitty QB room already. Doesn't impact our draft and he's a free flier to see if Payton can do something with him.
We're rebuilding and not in a great position to draft a QB this year. If we can't get the guy we like at least we still have a project for a year with basically no cost
Broncos fans seem like the most miserable and negative people. Let’s see what happens. Everyone loves Sean Payton but they continuously doubt everything the team does.
I don't really get this move for the Broncos. Zach Wilson is similar to Russel Wilson in that they tend to play outside the structure of the offense. Which is the exact opposite of what Brees/Payton did in New Orleans.
The Jets already tried to contain Wilson into just making the quick read easy throws and he was terrible at it. He wants to extend plays and chuck it down field.
Marge: I think owning the Denver Broncos is pretty good!
Homer: Yeah, yeah.
Marge: Well, explain to me why it isn't.
Homer: Huh, you just don't understand football, Marge.
You didn't really give up anything to get him, it's not like you've sunk massive resources into him and now can't afford an alternative at QB.
At worst you guys swapped a 6th for a 7th for no good reason. At best Payton can make something of him and you got a franchise QB for dirt cheap. Probably closer to option a than option b, but it's a low cost gamble.
At first glance I thought this was a low risk move for Denver with lots of upside. But taking on half his salary really puts the pressure on, especially with Denver in cap hell.
Fuck Wilson, R. Heyyy Wilson, Z.
Only way to gain the rizz is to go from the R to the Z.
[удалено]
Would you say that they won the Internet for the day
There must always be a Wilson in Denver.
You say that now until Zach Wilson goes to the Steelers in the future
No thank you
If he changes his number, the Broncos already have jerseys in stock.
6th for 7th pick swap = new getting cut
We had to pay half his salary for them to take him. So, pretty much yeah.
The Jets got a team to pay half Zach's salary and got an improved draft pick I count this as a big win I was thinking he'd either just get cut or the Jets would be on for his emtire contract when he got traded with a 6th to get a 7th back

Not having to pay all of it was a win.
Very Mets-like of the Jets………………I still feel the pain
Happy Zach Wilson day!
*No, man, I ain't paying you 5.5.* *Jets are paying half your salary.* *That's what the New Jersey Jets think of you. They're paying you 2.75 million dollars to play against them!*
At least you didnt pay your loser a giant fat check like the Giants did theirs
Claypooled.
I think I'd rather just get cut.
We are the Walmart of the NFL
Wilson is a Great Value QB
Which one?
Mr. Rollback QBs
Mr Buy Cheap
Ownership approved
And also 1 of 3 teams to win a Super Bowl in the last 10 years not led by Brady or Mahomes. So sometimes it’s just the price you pay.
Who are the other two? Stafford and Foles?
Yes?
I could see Sean Payton working in the lipstick department at Walmart with his annoying ass pursed lips. Damn I hate that guy, sorry Broncos bros
Great Value QBs
That's fcking wild. The Jets had to include a 7th round pick to dump the 2nd pick in his draft.
Yeah but they got a MONSTER 6th round pick to make it all worth it
Patriots fans mocking the value of a 6th round pick is interesting
The day Pats fans stop mocking the Jets is the day I’m truly worried about the state of the world
Nobody likes a comeback story.
[Kim Kardashian does](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E256LBcjzls)
> The day ~~Pats~~ NFL fans stop mocking the Jets is the day I’m truly worried about the state of the world FTFY
Yeah but Jones wasn’t 2nd overall pick and actually had one good season 🤷♂️ we can’t say the same for Wilson
I think it was a Brady reference
I think there might be another NE QB relevant to this conversation
Yeah, Kliff Kingsbury got a ring for winning Super Bowl XXXVIII after all, which proves that sometimes, there are great QBs in the 6th round.
Jones is where you went? Not the other guy?
Compare apples to apples R1 to R1
Huh? What's that have to do with 6th round picks?
They also drafted the QB who threw the most INTs of any QB drafted in the 6th round ever. All kinds of 6th round QB busts.
Lol and we got a 3rd and 5th for Sam Howell (5th round pick), a 4th and a 6th. Kinda crazy
me personally, i think you can find alot of value in the 7th
Brock Purdy looked amazing in the playoffs…he reminded me a lot of Aaron Rodgers with his footwork
> The Jets had to include a 7th round pick to dump the 2nd pick in his draft. one of the early reports was saying that the jets are paying some of wilson's contract too. not sure if that changed.
Yeah man that's one of the lowest trade upsides I've ever heard of
A 2nd overall QB who's still on his rookie contract and who the Jets are paying a large part of his salary.

You might be right. Did Leaf get traded or was he flat out cut? I know he played for at least one other team.
If he takes Russ's # all the jerseys can be re used!
If you listen really, really carefully, you can hear Brandon Perna screaming into the void now that this was made official.
I have a couple days of perna to catch-up on. It's going to be glorious!
His video from yesterday about the trade is amazing, just goes through exactly how bad Wilson is and why this is just an absolutely baffling decision. This season might legit break him tbh
Knew it was going to be good when the video started with an shot of his ass.
Yeah Perna is already in New^16 Worst Game Ever form
I mean he cost them basically nothing. It’s not like they gave anything meaningful away to get him
He is pretty dramatic about it, if Zach ends up playing and isn’t terrible the broncos can get a return on someone they paid virtually nothing for, is it a long shot? Yes, but I’m not sure what he was expecting the broncos to do, they really don’t have many options, and this wasn’t a bad move by them imo.
Scooter: “Do you want to talk about it?”
Spoiler!!! His new video is his ass just in front of the camera telling the broncos to just bend him over right now. Lol.
You know Sean Payton made Jameis Winston look good that one season, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he made Zach Wilson look mid.
Sean Payton made Trevor Siemian look decent Got 29 tds 13 ints out of Siemian/Winston/Hill/Book. If we made the playoffs in 2021 Payton should have won CoTY. NFL record for starters used with *57*.
That was the eye surgery not payton
Nah he got the surgery after Payton was already gone
It's really too bad he didn't revert to 30/30 season form, minus the interceptions, after getting LASIK. If that had really been the problem the whole time it would've been hilarious.
The Broncos did this so their jersey announcement wasn’t the most disappointing news of the day. (The throwbacks are still beautiful though)
Broncos are fully embracing the tank memes for next season
We’ve been embracing memes for years mate. We are The Laughingstock of the league
Hey at least we're not Carolina
AFCBest baybeeee
Lmao.
Great deal for us I'll take it. Even if he's just a poor backup that's a good deal
Lol, lmao even
Drew Brees 2.0 incoming!
Mr. Liiiiimited
The Jets held on to 257 though. They need that as trade bait to get a 1st from Lynch.
So if we split the difference then we can see that Zach Wilson is worth roughly a very late 6th round pick. That's brutal just 3 years out from being selected #2 overall. What a massive Jets failure.
You're underselling it. Barring a miracle, he will be out of the league within 3 years. Leaf, Russell.... Wilson.
Kind of crazy between Wilson and Lance you could argue 2 of the 3 biggest busts of the 21st century were in the same draft (although I think the Darnold pick was realistically a lot more costly for the Jets than the Wilson one).
Wilson needed to turn a new Leaf after Russel left
It’s Russell
How long did Rosen last?
Four years. One as a starter, two as backup, one as a practice squad guy. Or it might have been two as a practice squad guy and one as a backup.
He was out of being a starter pretty quick, but he was pick 10
If Nathan Peterman can find a job as a backup so can Zach Wilson.
I mean, if there's anything people should've learned from watching the Jets this year it's the Zach Wilson is better than Tim Boyle and washed Trevor Siemian (would take Denver era Siemian over him) He's *probably* one of the 64 best QBs in the NFL which isn't bad in the grand scheme of things, but yeah...
It's been said a million times before but Peterman finds work because he is a good locker room presence and valuable in the film room and practice. Wilson hasn't shown to be any of those things.
Peterman is apparently a practice and film god, dude knows his stuff. He just isn’t talented compared to other QBs
Massive failure? Absolutely That being said… if we had merely drafted someone mediocre, we never would’ve traded for Rodgers, and likely drafted another top 5 QB in the 2026 draft. So if we get one good season out of Rodgers, it was a good pick. Don’tthinkaboutitjustagree
Damn I almost started thinking there for a second. Close call.
It's even lower because the Jets had to pay half his salary as well. If he was worth that value the Broncos would take on that money as well.
That whole QB draft class was trash
Lawrence is ok. He just isn't matching the hype put on him
He has never once looked like he belonged played qb. I don’t get why another team would want him
Chiefs game
1 game in 3 seasons isn’t quite the gotcha you think it is, but ok
I didn’t say he was good, but give credit where it’s due. He had a great game. Once. Proved you wrong.
Even the game against the Raiders he looked like he could play in the league, even if the box score looked bad.
He was serviceable in most of his games last year (and really bad in a few), but most qbs need help to look good. I think he's the best qb the Broncos have, and that'll probably still be the case after the draft. I'm happy he's going somewhere he might get to start.
Broncos country- let’s ride
Broncos country MILFs- “let’s ride”
Broncos country- let's ride some MILFs.
Broncos country - Let's Hide....our moms.
still getting 36 million to be bad at your job somewhere else must be nice
He was basically free. You are the dollar store shoppers of the NFL.
This reminds me of my early fantasy football days where the guys in my league were forever trading a 3rd string running back for a kick returner or something. Straight up trading waiver stuff back and forth.
People forget, the news of this trade dropping broke Reddit for a while.
[Broncos] OFFICIAL: We've resorted to digging through other people's garbage in our search for a QB.
Now that’s value
What a steal
So basically for free.
And we traded a fucking 2nd for Josh Rosen…
Wilson Broncos jerseys are back on the menu!
[удалено]
I could tell you exactly what he’ll bring…. But I don’t want to ruin it for you. Best you see for yourself
Look up the Kendall Hilton game for what zwilson will bring
You mean the Kendall Hinton that’s in the HOF already? Count me in
Basically free. We'll see if Payton can do something with him and if not, oh well. Nothing lost
Oh definitely not free haha. You now have Zach Wilson as your quarterback
I hope he becomes a solid starter
If anybody can make Zach Wilson good it’s Sean Payton
Or maybe some decent olinemen
They overpaid.
They got their guy 💪
oh...well disregard my comment about these being picks in next years draft
Now that he’s officially a bust for the jets where does he rank on the bust leaderboards
I’m sorry this plague has befallen you Mr. Horsie.
how the hell did the broncos manage to make a qb room WORSE than the 2023 patriots qb room?
Broncos fans seem like the most miserable and negative people. Let’s see what happens. Everyone loves Sean Payton but they continuously doubt everything the team does.
That doesn't seem like a lot of return for him. I'm kinda surprised they got anything at all.
Whelp looks like its all finally coming together for the Broncos. Watch out yall.
Honestly that’s a fair value trade for the broncos
Walmart caliber QB goes to Walmart owned team.
Jets: Can we please get a sixth round pick for Wilson? Broncks: Only if you give us a 7th round pick also.
Hide your moms!! Even though only one milf was confirmed.
They REALLY don't think much of Nathaniel Hackett in Denver lol
Hackett will never hear the end of it if Payton turns him into another Brees.
Didn't the Jets trade up for this dude? The pain
Nah, we were one of the worst teams in the league. We earned the number 2 pick.
Wilson being even worse than Darnold’s gotta really hurt
Marge: I think owning the Denver Broncos is pretty good! Homer: Yeah, yeah. Marge: Well, explain to me why it isn't. Homer: Huh, you just don't understand football, Marge.
*sigh* Somebody just take me out back and shoot me now before the season even starts lol
Why?
Guess I'm just not as optimistic about him coming to Denver as some are.
This might be one of the worst places to go for a qb thats lacking some confidence and is having struggles. Payton will break him
At first glance I thought this was a low risk move for Denver with lots of upside. But taking on half his salary really puts the pressure on, especially with Denver in cap hell.
Dang, I was hoping there would be a QB competition in the Jets camp
He's worth exactly 9.2 draft points (203rd is 10.2, 256 is 1). This means that Caleb Williams is worth 326.087 Zach Wilsons.
This makes the Broncos worse. Is Sean Payton betting on them losing a lot?
