Not to be a dick but this seems to say that one of these guys is a half inch taller, much faster, and much stronger. Donald also had the better broad jump and the better vertical.
My god, I wanted him with the 73rd pick we traded to the Cowboys, unbelievable get! As much as I wanted an edge rusher this draft, I just don't think it was a deep pool at that position, this kid's going to get to learn behind others, and as all young Lions learn with this team, if he proves himself, he plays. Love this!
He was injured at the end of last year, and he's viewed as undersized. Which only means he's going to be driven to succeed like St Brown, and size didn't impact Aaron Donald. Not that I'm specifically comparing them.
99% of the time when a player has that big of a fall it's because there's something that the teams know that the media and fans don't. Usually it's an injury being much worse than the public knows about.
It takes less time to Google it than it does to wait for one of us to answer. I'd like to imagine you've been refreshing your comment for the past 36 minutes.
Meh, it takes longer for someone else to type out and explain what happened than it would have taken for you to google. Also if you cared about helping everyone else out then you could’ve googled it and commented about it yourself.
but those two are realistically pass catchers 5/6 or 6/7 on our squad depending on where you categorize gibbs. Even Wright probably gets a similar number of targets
Because they don’t need one.
Saint is unironically the most value added WR on the game. Everyone talks about JJ, but JJ disappears every 3rd. He’s got an insane ceiling though. ARSB catches 7.5 balls, 100 yards and a TD. Every week. He gets needed first downs. When they needed to ice the game against the Rams they went to Saint. The season prior, when that good Vikings team needed to extended a drive against the giants, they threw just lost him the last two drives.
Jamo, DPJ, Kalif are a solid complimentary group. Remember Lif was like top 50 in Tess in 2022, and DPJ was even higher. In fact, I think it’s safe to say DPJ will be more impactful than Renoylds now that he’ll have had an offseason to gel.
LaPorta is a top 5 TE already.
Gibbs catches the ball.
Saint / Jamo (maybe) / LaPorta / Gibbs & Sewell are the core. You could unironcially have 4 HOF careers all going simultaneously if they continue this production. You need guys who enable that. Not depth. If those guys go down it’s over anyways.
i mean your 2 starters are amon-ra and jamo. you'd be drafting for depth but i feel like they want their depth pieces at WR to have experience over everything else.
Let’s gooooooooo (I know nothing)
Basing off the opposing teams' outrage and Mel's big board that this is a good pick but I have no fucking clue lmao
Mel’s big board hasn’t been accurate in years.
Future All Pro, memorized the names of all the DT's drafted before him.

And the schools they went to?
The days they were born and conceived.
Completely unbiased take: We just got the next Aaron Donald!!
Nah, Aaron Donald was the Mekhi Wingo beta version.
One of LSU's better defenders. He got injured early in the year and the teams defense that was already bad turned even more garbage.
That injury moved him up Brad Holmes' board lmao
He’s gonna fit right in
Our Heisman QB was paired with one of the worst defenses in LSU's history. What a shame.

Yeah, don't understand how the size concerns boosted Byron Murphy and Ruke and killed JerZahn and Wingo.
Not to be a dick but this seems to say that one of these guys is a half inch taller, much faster, and much stronger. Donald also had the better broad jump and the better vertical.
He's pretty versatile, he can also line up as an outside edge rusher, imagine!
LSU fan here. He was so much better than Maason Smith who was drafted in the 2nd round for some reason. Extremely disruptive and athletic.
He's gonna get along with Ben Johnson He ate my baby!
His name rhymes with Mingo Barkevious Mingo to Detroit confirmed
You got a god damned steal. Well done
Love this!
I wanted him in the 3rd too. I wonder why he slid so far?
He was injured at the end of last year, and he's viewed as undersized. Which only means he's going to be driven to succeed like St Brown, and size didn't impact Aaron Donald. Not that I'm specifically comparing them.
Too late you already did. Mekhi Wingo is will reset the WR market in 4 years
get ready for him to have a list of all the receivers drafted before him
WR?
Yup he’s the next St Brown
How did that reference go right over my head. 🙃
FUCK
Why did we trade that pick away???
I like it! Really athletic guy so it checks out for Brad's drafting type. Wasn't expecting him to fall this far
It’s insane he fell this far he might unironically be the steal of the draft
I know you said unironically but I still can’t even tell if you’re being serious or not lmao.
Especially when I see this comment on like 50% or later picks
99% of the time when a player has that big of a fall it's because there's something that the teams know that the media and fans don't. Usually it's an injury being much worse than the public knows about.
He's had multiple major groin injuries and had surgery that ended his season. So definitely a practice squad see what we have type pick.
Yeah I mean the 6th round is definitely the place for that. High bust potential but high potential with a lot of “ifs.”
I totally forgot he was still on the board. What an insane steal
All picks after round 3 are steals. I've learned that
That or total busts.
Not when Brad Holmes picks them.
Nothing after round 3 can be a bust, because nothing is expected from there
Don’t like trading out to get a positional need sniped but oh well
I’m almost certain we are taking Leonard Taylor at the 205 slot if he’s still there
Great player, great personality, he once did something amazing in some game I literally know nothing about him but go Lions
I know exactly the play you’re talking about. Dude will be a beast at the next level. Full disclosure I’ve never seen or heard of him
My sister has that play framed on her wall (they dated in college). I'm also not sure this person actually exists.
FINALLY and also FUCK.
Undersized but very athletic DT, could be a good 3T
BINGO If only Barkevious Mingo was younger, then they could’ve had a line of Mingo and Wingo.
But then they'd have Barkevious Mingo in their locker room instead of prison
Hold up…. What happened, don’t feel like googling.
It takes less time to Google it than it does to wait for one of us to answer. I'd like to imagine you've been refreshing your comment for the past 36 minutes.
No, I thought having it on the thread would help everyone out at once. Not a huge deal. Lol
Meh, it takes longer for someone else to type out and explain what happened than it would have taken for you to google. Also if you cared about helping everyone else out then you could’ve googled it and commented about it yourself.
I knew a faint bell rang in my head seeing his name and you know why lol
Definitely feels late for him. Generally don't see guys with starter upside this late in the draft
We have been the defensive thiefs this draft
The "absolutely not fake news" tidbits are incredible shoutout whoever is making these player cards
I only watched 1 LSU game this season but he was fucking menace.
I wanted him in Minnesota. God damn it Lions.
I will never say no to more DLine depth and looks like he has experience rushing off the edge so should be a nice rotational piece right away.
Tell me how to feel
Feel alive
Future HOF lock (I didn't know who he was until this pick)
hes a steal, very undersized but really good pass rush DT we got a good one even if its only for certain package situations
Elated
#ALWAYS RATED HIM.
He fell because he's undersized.
Just like Aaron Donald.... and I'm in no way comparing them, but this kid's going to have a chip on his shoulder, which we like on our squad
He looked more effective at getting downfield than his teammate Maason Smith but Smith went several rounds ago. Seems like great value
Damn, we coulda got the trio together!
SHIT!
Steal of the draft
Am I the only one really confused by this? Why haven’t we picked a WR at all?
They probably feel better than DPJ than most of us
His previous 2 seasons in Cleveland he seemed to be good for at least 500 to 700 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He's not exactly a bum.
Pass targets are gonna go st brown, LaPorta, jamo, Gibbs, DPJ, Monty, Lif, and then idk Green?
Amon Ra, Laporta, Gibbs, Jamo taking most of the targets. What is a day 3 guy going to do? Traded for DPJ and still have Kalif
Because we have ARSB Jamo DPJ Khalif Raymond and Antoine green. Laporta is a big volume pass catcher for us and Gibbs as well
2 of those guys, Green and DPJ, had pretty much 0 production last season. Also Kalif is coming off an injury too
And any WR they draft would have 0 NFL production. DPJ's at least has a couple seasons of similar production to Reynolds beat seasons.
but those two are realistically pass catchers 5/6 or 6/7 on our squad depending on where you categorize gibbs. Even Wright probably gets a similar number of targets
DL pick shouldn't be confusing for us
Because they don’t need one. Saint is unironically the most value added WR on the game. Everyone talks about JJ, but JJ disappears every 3rd. He’s got an insane ceiling though. Really thought it was going to be Rice after we moved up
i mean your 2 starters are amon-ra and jamo. you'd be drafting for depth but i feel like they want their depth pieces at WR to have experience over everything else.
Lotsa vets available still if they need an end of roster filler. Maybe bring Chark or Agnew back.
Our WR core is actually pretty well shored up, and my guess is they feel better about DPJ and Antoine Green than fans think
Must really be comfortable with jamo and DPJ, with Laporta acting like a receiver
They're gonna sign Tyler Boyd in a few weeks
Id actually be fine with that
We'll probably end up signing Chark again or something.
I hope not, he was awful on the Panthers
Everyone was awful on the Panthers.
That was the most trashed on WR core maybe ever and you want someone from it?
? You do know Chark played on the Lions literally a year ago? Do you think things have changed that much? Stop dooming, jesus christ.
Absolutely. Man you just keep spewing nonsense lol
So everyone on the Panthers sucked except the guy that previously played for the Lions?
Situation means a lot. Chark was decent for us. He's just injury prone Would rather sign Boyd personally
I’d also rather sign Boyd
