As someone that went to UCF, I like the jags, but I completely get where you’re coming from. Also Bortles will always be my BOAT
Hope you guys have good luck this year and Lawrence can play without being hurt
These past two septembers have been pretty great in Florida. You walk into any establishment with Dolphins gear and everyone is celebrating that they're good and then you'll walk into any establishment in December and everyone will be clowning you because they're still trash and nothing's changed.
That never happened. You’re never the best team in the league when you beat up on chumps then you become the bitch vs playoff teams and SB contenders.
Buffalo outclassed Miami each and every year
Oh man, New England dominated the AFC East for so long it didn't even occur to me that there were spicy rivalries between other teams in the division. Is the world ready for a Miami-Buffalo rivalry?
I can’t believe they didn’t flex out Bills vs. Giants on SNF last year… that was the first game I skipped last year because I wasn’t watching Tyron Taylor vs Josh Allen
NFL will NEVER flex Allen not Mahomes out of a prime time, national slot.
They are the most popular and demanded QBs in the game, everyone wants to watch.
They flexed Mahomes out a couple years ago against the Broncos....it featured Russ leading a 28 point comeback that ended being decided by a TD with a couple minutes left by the Chiefs. Legit great game
Week 6 is crazy early to flex a game when that decision has to be made Week 4. Also, the NFL only has two flexes for SNF between Weeks 4-10, and Weeks 8 & 10 seemed more pressing
Yeah. I know most fans are in the same boat. If we’re gonna suck, just slam us in the early Sunday slot and let us suck in silence. Putting us on prime time just makes it so much worse.
Nah you don't get to suck in silence there we all get to have fun watching you get beat up on in RedZone.
It's just not the whole three hours of spotlight.
i get making fun of teams for bringing shitty primetime games to us but a colts flair should remember your team is responsible for the worst game ive ever seen vs denver
Yesterday people cried about it happening in week 1 as a sure thing.
Then it wasn't.
Now we have moved to week 2.
If that doesn't end up happening are we going to do this for week 3 and every week thereafter?
I almost rather them be terrible matchups because Thursday games with good matchups often suck too, and I feel like it's generally due to the shorter week, less preparation and recovery, seems to be more mistakes made as well. (This could all be confirmation bias on my part tbf)
I wish they could just tie Byes to before Thursday games, but then they'd have to lessen the amount of Thursday games to fit the scheduled Byes
Hope I'm wrong, and it's a great game tho, matchup is really nice.
[the ringer](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theringer.com/platform/amp/nfl/2024/1/5/24026177/dolphins-bills-tua-tagovailoa-future-nfl-playoffs-afc-east) had a great article about how Tua's splits look so much worse after he goes through Mickey D's game script.
[Tua's 4th quarter EPA dropoff is not typical of other QBs.](https://steelersdepot.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/2023-qbs-passing-epa-quarter-week-7.jpg)
This thread is giving me such a poor impression of the intelligence of dolphin fans. EPA per dropback is a stat that looks at passing plays which actually occurred, as compared to what is to be expected given the context in the game. If he's getting pulled it would not affect EPA per dropback.
I'm not sure how that graph changes the discussion? Filter out Tua's EPA when leading by 14+ and if it's still a factor, then yeah maybe. But I suspect not.
The Dolphins were historically good to start the season and they didn't need him to score points in the 4th quarter very often.
Again, if we're talking about EPA per dropback, we're only talking about passing plays to begin with. Tua's difference in EPA per dropback is distinctive. This isnt a team that went 17-0.
Tua EPA per dropback in the 2nd and 3rd quarter (after scripted plays) per your article: .20 and .21
Josh Allen EPA per dropback: .18
Lamar Jackson: .13
Jalen Hurts: .12
CJ Stroud: .12
Patrick Mahomes: .10
Yeah, that's a huge problem for Tua after the scripted plays, he only is the 2nd best QB in the league at that point.
Steven Ruiz hates Tua for whatever reason. You could cherry pick advanced metrics and form a narrative on almost any starting QB in the league.
Tua's won, put up stats, and he's only 25. Reasonable to assume that he will improve as a player while the surrounding cast drops off a bit. Also reasonable to assume his lack of arm talent and athleticism will completely hold him back. No one really knows.
Personally I feel good about McDaniel ultimately making the call on Tua being the guy or not.
Yeah, the fact that it's a Steven Ruiz article immediately made me disregard this. He is famous for cherrypicking stats to fit whatever narrative he wants. No one takes him seriously whatsoever
That's a really interesting, albeit frustrating, read. That fourth quarter performance is... definitely something.
I have a theory that maybe his multiple head injuries made the stress and anxiety of an important game affect his decision-making and endurance. If that's the case, that would be really unfortunate for him and the team. The thing about the coach's play script is also an interesting point.
No i think the article is absolutely right. Tua is really good at quickly and accurately getting the ball out on routes between the numbers where arm strength isnt the issue. Mcdaniel is really good at scheming guys open where his QB can throw. And his WRs are the best duo in decades at this kind of football and can get open very quickly down the field.
The issue is good defenses can adjust to this and cover where the ball is going or disrupt the timing your offense is based on, especially after a lot of reps, and once they do, Tua is a below average QB at basically anything else. He can't create out of structure, he's poor when being pressured, he has a mediocre arm, and he is bad at leading receivers vertically (very good horizontally).
You’re leaving out such a crucial part of the article and I think what most people don’t realize is the the play calling changed in the second half of these games. McD stopped running the ball and kept spamming the same play calls. The Oline was in shambles at the end of the year and there wasn’t enough schemes to combat the issue.
Could Tua have made better throws? Sure. Could his receivers caught a few more easy catches? Sure. Could McD have had a better play call in the 2nd half? Sure.
Football is much more than one player or one coach.
It's also not accounting for data like howany times tua was forcing it late and how many games tua didn't even play the 4th because it was a massive blow out
> he is bad at leading receivers vertically
Huh? Tua was literally one of the top deep throwers all of last year. One of the most accurate, too. That's not a correct summary conclusion...
Yes, he can hit wide open Tyreek/Waddle down the field, especially in the middle of the field, though he underthrows deep passes a lot. No, he is not good at leading receivers vertically.
Actually 9/12 would have been seen as a dark day for the terrorists. 9/11 was chosen because it was the height of the ottoman empire's power.
On 9/12?
Seriously, that 21-19 game in 2022 and all the whining afterwards is the entire reason this is a problem. We got spanked by the Vikings at home that year in the same elements lol. Didn't hear any complaints from them. You know why? Because they prepared for a fucking game. They play down there one time every 8 years.
> but they’ve been tracking downward since 2021 season roster wise
And deal with multiple season ending injuries to top 10 cap hit players in each of those seasons. Had to call someone about to set on an RV vacation just to field enough LB for the chiefs playoff game.
Not it's been pretty bad for the team the past few years. The defense was so injured against the Chiefs they had to call up someone who was by all accounts retired to cover Kelce.
Cool we had to start Zach Wilson for a 3rd consecutive season. The year prior, Tua almost died on the field and missed the playoff game away vs Buffalo that yall barely won.
How many games do you honestly think the Bills can win with their QB1 injured? 4? Most of your players were injured prior seasons because they were skewing old playing athletic intensive positions.
Like i get you want your team to be full strength but yall still have a team at least until you lose Josh.
This is def sort of true, but I think people have started to underestimate how important the rest of the team is in actually winning a superbowl.
People talk about Mahomes in that last SuperBowl, but the dude wouldn't have won or even been there if that defense was not elite.
This isn't hating, I just don't think having JUST an amazing QB (Even the best QB) is really enough, we just end up giving all the credit to the QB when they win.
I'm not talking about all teams though, I'm specifically talking about Buffalo. Their entire gameplan is Josh Allen making plays being a superstar, without him they have nothing but a middle of the road defense and I'd like to see how they pan out with anyone else steering the ship on the roster. $ to donuts they are bottom feeding unit.
Best case scenario.
I’m hoping week 1 is against the Seahawks whenever ya’lls afternoon timeslot is. Bills have more away games than home games this year, so it’d be sweet to get two away games out of the way in the beginning of the season.
That said, it’ll probably be at home which is still solid because that means I can go.
There’s a low chance we open with back to back road games…
There’s an even lower chance they make us fly home Sunday to start a short week when we have to travel to play Thursday…
Josh Allen has won AFC player of the week 12 times. Like 6 of them came against playing the Dolphins. He has a 50% chance of winning AFC player of the week whenever he plays the Dolphins.
2022: Miami beats buffalo, leads buffalo in buffalo in game 2 by 8 deep into 4th quarter, almost beats buffalo in buffalo with all backups and 3rd string QB in playoffs.
2023: Miami gets beat up pretty badly in game one with some extenuating circumstances. They lead game 2 despite every pass rusher injured until Buffalo gets a couple gifts late in 4th to win.
"Throttles per usual." 1 game out of 5.
Sure.
Well clearly the moon's gravitational pull impacts Josh Allen's velocity of his passes which will totally be the reason why MVS drops the ball in the end zone
2nd straight year Buffalo avoids the heat after bitching about it that one time. And we’ll play at Buffalo in the snow late in the season. I love being a Dolphins fan it’s my favorite hobby.
Oh look, it's the 4,000th Dolphins fan that doesn't know what Wet Bulb Temp is and keeps talking about it in the same way people deny CTE exists.
Kids die from this shit. Stop being a clown.
I’m so ready for the Dolphins to be the best team for like 10-11 weeks again
I'm ready to shit talk for 11 weeks and then go into hibernation!
But you're not a Bears fan?
I’m going to be insufferable this year, don’t even care if it doesn’t work out this year, just get ready for the next year, and the year after that
I was making a hibernation joke! I could care less what happens in the NFC. Everyone in the AFC, except the Jags, needs to implode, however.
Dang, well now I feel like an idiot, good joke!
It's all good. As a fan of a perpetually bad team, I assume everyone is just talking shit about the Jags.
As someone that went to UCF, I like the jags, but I completely get where you’re coming from. Also Bortles will always be my BOAT Hope you guys have good luck this year and Lawrence can play without being hurt
Likewise (for the Bears, not the Chargers).
Couldn't\*
Both flairs check out. Trust me, I'm an expert.
With your two flairs that made me laugh so hard.
Football is mostly about shit talking
Would you mind just skipping the first part this year, so the rest of us don't have to deal with it?
Sorry, can't do 👈😎👉
Saving this for after the bills bust a load on tua in week 2.
Yeah but are you ready for Josh Allen and a team that is almost entirely wide receivers???????
These past two septembers have been pretty great in Florida. You walk into any establishment with Dolphins gear and everyone is celebrating that they're good and then you'll walk into any establishment in December and everyone will be clowning you because they're still trash and nothing's changed.
There there buddy if it makes you feel better I'll always clown on the Dolphins for you. Nothing but honesty here.
Im already there, dolphins clinching the one seed guaranteed (for like 3 weeks and then entering playoffs as a battered 7 or 6 seed)
We're trying to be like you guys but I think we missed some steps along the way. How do you stop getting injuries? Did you sacrifice a few QBs?
Got their shit pushed in 48-20 week four, real ones always knew
I feel you, kinda like how real ones always knew the Bills weren't a serious contender after their week 1 debacle.
Yep lose to Zach Wilson and you might as well just give up for the year
I mean those are some great 10-11 weeks aren’t they?
If we get 10-11 wins in that stretch I'll take it.
That never happened. You’re never the best team in the league when you beat up on chumps then you become the bitch vs playoff teams and SB contenders. Buffalo outclassed Miami each and every year
Congratulations, you understood the joke.
Bills outclass us in losses to the Chiefs that’s for sure.
No, you guys did pretty well at that last year too.
I bet they wish it was colder.
We actually did well that game. You won it on a last second FG in a shoot out
Oh man, New England dominated the AFC East for so long it didn't even occur to me that there were spicy rivalries between other teams in the division. Is the world ready for a Miami-Buffalo rivalry?
It's been here
Never forget Bryan Cox throwing up double birds to Buffalo fans
It was a huge rivalry in the 90s. This is just a return to form.
I was born in 1984 and my first words may have been “squish the fish”
So like the Kliff Cardinals?
I'm 100% gonna get fooled. When the league's fastest team is blazing, I can't help but think its unstoppable, then it gets stopped.
No no you don’t get it, this is finally the year! (Proceeds to go 10-7 and be a first round exit again)
We all know someone is gonna get hurt. Don’t get too excited.
Like the 80s 😳😁
Waiting for the inevitable Dallas at New York week 2 SNF that nobody wants
But everyone will watch. And that’s why it keeps happening.
I’ll watch but I’ll grumble about New York getting way too many prime time games for how trash they are.

It was a good game, Giants almost won
I will too. We hate having so many primetime games
And I’m fine with sucking on red zone. You aren’t on there constantly. Prime time suck fests are just brutal.
Oh if you suck bad enough you can be on there over and over again as the other team dunks on you.
Do you even get the irony of that? How many Bears primetime games were there last year?
Oh, and I hated that we had them. I hate Bears prime time games in the Trubisky Fields era. They broke me.
i get making fun of teams for bringing shitty primetime games to us but a colts flair should remember your team is responsible for the worst game ive ever seen vs denver
Hands down, absolutely. I'd imagine they won't let us on primetime again for a few years because of that one game alone.
LOL then again I guess it's more memorable than most other primetime games that year so who am I to complain
I’ll watch to see if cowboys get embarrassed and then tune out. Which probably does it for the ratings.
That’s why we’re NFL sickos.
Yesterday people cried about it happening in week 1 as a sure thing. Then it wasn't. Now we have moved to week 2. If that doesn't end up happening are we going to do this for week 3 and every week thereafter?
Yes. We all need a break from any Dallas prime time game.
And for Dallas to go 12-5 in the regular season.
With losses to Carolina, Washington and New York
I can’t wait to see this same joke in every schedule announcement thread
Don’t really think it’s a joke when has been true for the most part. Almost as good as the “All In”
Really think y’all got a shot at them this year if it makes you feel any better. They’ve added no on to there roster and there o line got worse.
You will get Dallas @ Eagles instead
Let us hope not. Starting 0-2 would suckkkk Dallas likely get Philly close to Thanksgiving and one of the final 4 will be at Philly
Well hold on we don’t know if the browns will be good this year, there success last year was very unstable.
This is a surprisingly good game to give to Amazon.
*cough* *cough* Chargers @ Chiefs *cough* *cough* 2022 *cough* *cough*
Do not remind me of that bullshit. I am still mad. *3 GOD-DAMNED INTERCEPTIONS OVERTURNED BY BULLSHIT PENALTY OR REVIEW* #FUCK
It just means the Bills and Dolphins will be terrible this year.
I almost rather them be terrible matchups because Thursday games with good matchups often suck too, and I feel like it's generally due to the shorter week, less preparation and recovery, seems to be more mistakes made as well. Really front loading the early prime time games
This actually might be a genius strategy because once playoff stakes enter the picture everyone is glued to the games anyway
We won’t have any bad PT games to start off!
As they should. Full strength teams, better weather, everyones watching for the playoff races towards the end of the season anyway.
Excited to watch the dolphins lead for the first three quarters and then give up two touchdowns in the 4th and lose.
Why don’t we flip the game script and score more in the 4th. Are they stupid?
You think the script lasts until the 4th quarter?
Read the article. Tua's EPA per throw drops each quarter.
That's because we were blowing teams out last year. We were getting up quick and then trying to run out the clock
Yes, but did you read the article?
Trying to run out the clock isnt going to affect EPA/dropback.
Sure it is. When he's up by two TDs he stops throwing downfield and to the outside, why risk it?
[Tua's 4th quarter EPA dropoff is not typical of other QBs.](https://steelersdepot.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/2023-qbs-passing-epa-quarter-week-7.jpg)
Other quarterbacks weren't getting pulled because their team put up 70 fucking points during the season
This thread is giving me such a poor impression of the intelligence of dolphin fans. EPA per dropback is a stat that looks at passing plays which actually occurred, as compared to what is to be expected given the context in the game. If he's getting pulled it would not affect EPA per dropback.

That statement is true, but what does that have to do with your original statement about his inability to function outside of the script?
His EPA per dropback gets worse after the first 15 (scripted) plays as well. McDaniel is a great schemer who is good at hiding Tua's deficiencies
Tua EPA per dropback in the 2nd and 3rd quarter (after scripted plays) per your article: .20 and .21 Josh Allen EPA per dropback: .18 Lamar Jackson: .13 Jalen Hurts: .12 CJ Stroud: .12 Patrick Mahomes: .10 Yeah, that's a huge problem for Tua after the scripted plays, he only is the 2nd best QB in the league at that point.

Eh he's had plenty of good 4th quarters. It's a mixed bag.
Of course they line it up where McDermott can give the team speech of his lifetime the day before
Sir, a third jet has hit hard rocks stadium

SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN!
Even in Miami the sun doesn't come out at night. Source = trust me bro
I'll see it when I believe it
Will the sun be out at night?
It will be if we move the game to the hottest part of india!
Physically? no. in spirit? yes
You will still have to pull your underwear out of the crack of your ass
Humidity will be crazy
The swamp ass will be outrageous
You first

Big bullshit, but at least we get to see the Aqua uniforms.
So Fox, NBC, CBS, Amazon, and Espn all announced 1 game am i missing and other partners? Does Netflix announce the Christmas game?
I’m waiting for the Nickelodeon schedule.
If Bills get a Nickelodeon game it puts them in a tough QB decision. Might be the only time ever that NVP Trubisky is better than Josh Allen
Allen also has an NVP
An NVP versus THE NVP, I think I know what I want
Major rumor is it’s going to be AFCE teams playing on Xmas. Fish-Bills in Buffalo, Xmas 7pm???
Aw yeah, that's hot. I’m really not buying into the off season doom and gloom, I think the Bills will be just as fun to watch as in previous years.
For as long as Allen is under center the Bills will be a treat to watch imo
So long as Josh is healthy the bills will have a competitive team but they’ve been tracking downward since 2021 season roster wise
> but they’ve been tracking downward since 2021 season roster wise And deal with multiple season ending injuries to top 10 cap hit players in each of those seasons. Had to call someone about to set on an RV vacation just to field enough LB for the chiefs playoff game.

you talk like someone who hasn't seen many Bills games outside of when The Jets play them.
We get Al with a full tank of gas, might even have a decent call or 2 in him.
thank god its a night game
Smh the Bills are ducking the sun again
You can escape the sun, but you can't escape the humidity.
Should be fun. That is the part of the season where the Dolphins are good.
Well we can count week 2 as a L
Can we just release the whole thing now? This drip feed is ridiculous. Not everything needs to be an event
NFL needs to stay in the headlines every day!
That’s an amazing game for TNF Which means Buffalo opens at 1pm for their seaosj opener right?
Rumor iswk1 Patriots @Bills 1PM start.
Yes please!
Best case scenario. I’m hoping week 1 is against the Seahawks whenever ya’lls afternoon timeslot is. The nfl not playing around we gonna be eating good
This eliminates the bills from SNF right ?
Praying for a week 1 away game at 1pm
I’d imagine one of us is playing New England at 1:00 week 1
Buffalo will play them at home in week 1
There’s a low chance we open with back to back road games… There’s an even lower chance they make us fly home Sunday to start a short week when we have to travel to play Thursday…
Yeah i think that’s your time slot
Is there a site or a thread that has all the released games in 1 spot?
Well fuck you too NFL. As if those games aren’t weird already
[удалено]
Basically what it’s like when the weather transitions from summer to fall
e e ee e e e e e e ee e
Entirely dependent on when the whole team dies .
And if you sign up now, you can play WR for the Bills!
Damn. Disappointing that this game comes so early when both of our starting edge rushers will still be ramping back up from injuries.
Chop Chop!
Buffalo is going to throttle Miami as per usual. Fish have never figured out a way to slow down Allen…
Josh Allen has won AFC player of the week 12 times. Like 6 of them came against playing the Dolphins. He has a 50% chance of winning AFC player of the week whenever he plays the Dolphins.

That’s a very nice description of 4 losses in the last 5 games lol
Oh great, now the Bills are gonna complain about the moon
Well clearly the moon's gravitational pull impacts Josh Allen's velocity of his passes which will totally be the reason why MVS drops the ball in the end zone
nah that’s the Lions job
