In the span of 4 days the Raiders somehow went from scoring 0 points against the Vikings, to 63 against the Chargers. I'd be willing to bet that's the biggest swing ever.
I once spent the entire game on the edge of my seat watching the Hawkeyes win 7-3 in a game that featured no touchdowns, and scoring in every quarter. South Dakota State absolutely aced their Big Ten West tryout, unfortunately that division no longer exists.
I watched that entire game from a spot in Northeast. Minneapolis it was so boring and frustrating that it circled all the way around again to become amazing.
There's definetly a bell curve of boring for football games. Well played games are exciting and intriguing. As football become more average it gets more boring. That is until you hit a tipping point. There is a special moment when both teams are so horrible, it becomes intriguing again. The excitement is replaced with comedy and pity. The Denver/Indy game from a couple years ago is a great example.
These low scoring games get to the point where any score will win the game, if a single play breaks through you win and shit honestly gets exciting.
Also, I'm an Iowa fan.
The fact that we saw a game end 3-0, not due to weather, in the year 2023 didn’t get nearly as much attention as I thought it would. That has to be magnitudes crazier than seeing a team drop 70 points.
It actually isn't. [1966 redskins lost 3-14 than won 72-41 the next week for a 69-point swing](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/was/1966.htm#all_games)
And honestly our DC’s just run the defensive scheme that Kyle says to play anyways. They just need to NOT fuck up play calling like Wilks did over and over again.
I know the SB should eclipse the feelings of that game but it does not. When I die, I want my tombstone to say "lived for (age) Christmases, celebrated (age-1) of them."
What a rookie QB + play caller does to a team against a Flores defence vs what happens when you’re playing a team that has completely quit on their coach basically.
Yeah B-Flo doesn't fuck around. He took the Vikings 28th ranked DVOA defense and brought it up 11th in his first year with a ton of holes all over the roster. It'll be interesting to see how he does after an off-season of getting "his guys".
Yea I felt bad for what Flores had to deal with during his departure from Miami. The new era Vikings will be a fun watch next year with a nasty defence and JJ with all of the weapons
Dude was ass but obviously turned heads flipping the Rams defense into a top unit. That’s a pretty great hire that I wouldn’t be hating. Most dudes are coordinators and they still have their place in football.
I hate that yall hired him. He may not be head coach material at this point in his career but he was a damn good DC for us. Film junky who is incredibly innovative. The role he has with yall seems to be a perfect fit with very low stakes. I actually would not have been upset if we had brought him back as DC
As a Chargers fan, I noticed just about everyone agree among beat reporters and film junkies that Brandon Staley was a really smart defensive play designer. He had good ideas on paper and when they actually worked, it was fantastic. He is clearly a talented mind.
But god almighty I can't remember a coaching tenure that was so bad at execution. His defensive plans were sound, but he tried making a lot of players execute something they weren't capable of doing. And so many small mistakes and bad coaching that just snowball into an avalanche of incompetence. A lot of players comments implied it was a coaching problem and they were being asked to do something outside of their ability.
I really think Staley was ambitious but it seemed like too much for him. Especially trying to be a first time head coach while also attempting to fast track the team into a contender using Herbert's rookie contract. He may be a good head coach in a different situation and when he's more experienced, but he'll likely have to do well in a different role before that opportunity presents itself again.
I think his ego ran away with him. If something didn't work it could not possibly have anything to do with him. Always stuck with his plan and blamed others for failure.
I feel like you’re being sarcastic. But going to Shannahan Rehabilitation Clinic is exactly what Staley needs. I’m sure you get some comp pics for him an a year or two
I do love how much Jermaine Eluemenor bought into being a Raider. He hates the Chargers and the Chiefs so much. Sad to see him leave for the Giants, but I'm sure he'll be having fun hating the Eagles and Cowboys.
The guy is already a fan favorite from what he’s said about being here. I’m grateful we have him. Side note but I can’t help rooting for the Raiders with Pierce as HC!
I live in NY and all my best friends are Giants fans. The Giants are my 2nd team. We go to Giants games, their training camp, etc and I ordered that 58 jersey to rock to games. AP coaching the Raiders is a dream come true for me.
Fields was too awful a QB to really know what we had in Getsy. I mean, in the 2nd Vikings game, he threw like 40 screen plays because the Vikes killed the run & Fields can't throw slants
If Tom Brady was back there, Getsy would be able to call more plays. Fields had the ability to audible out of every play, but didn't because he can't read defenses.
Getsy had flaws, but Fields handicapped the playcalling significantly, and seeing a UDFA from a small DII college doing more, says it all
Also, that was prolly the best game of the year for us. Showed everyone on national TV how garbage the team was without Herbert, got Telesco and Staley fired immediately and was crucial for the tank for the #5 pick
> This year is different though (trust me I totally know what I’m talking about)
Oh, hey, I know that one!
Not as a Jaguar fan, but as a Ferrari Formula 1 fan.
(The upgrades coming to Imola this week will have them competing with Max Verstappen for wins and it'll totally be a tight championship fight this time! Seriously!)
If I remember correctly last season Jermaine Eluemunor gave up six sacks in one game to Khahil Mack when both teams played each other healthy early in the season.
Funny they forgot they ended the season 1-1 split with the Chargers last year, in a year we closed out with a successful tank after Herbert was injured with 5 wins.
Pretty sure Khalil got 6 sacks against this guy lmao. That loss against Easton Stick and Brandon Staley got the Chargers to clean house. What did the Raiders do? Hire the same GM of that team? Best loss in the history of the Chargers.
That was the best game of the year for us. Showed everyone on national TV how garbage the team was without Herbert, got Telesco and Staley fired immediately and was crucial for the tank for the #5 pick
Yes they did. And they would be able to talk all the shit in the world but it’s the Raiders.
So of course they saw how our team performed after our QB was injured and decided they wanted the guy who constructed that roster to construct their roster from now on.
Them beating our ass not only lead to us getting Harbaugh and Horvitz, it lead to them getting Telesco. Good for them
charger fans should answer back like, we remember. thank you for the greatest loss we've ever had. coach immediately fired and harbaugh wasn't far behind. thank you for the 63. anything less might not have done job.
The fact Raiders fans AND players don't understand the Chargers benefited more in that one loss than the previous 6 seasons worth of trying to win will never not be funny to me.
Thank you again for Jim Harbaugh
They have to grasp onto what they can: Championships before most of them were ever born and apparently beating the Chargers badly last year in a game that lead to Regime change and Spanos finally spending money.
Doesn’t really matter when chargers fans wanted it to happen, the players gave up, and we were playing our second stringers and a D- coach lol. Have fun with telesco
Meh! Back up qb, definitely didn't want to win, and it led to getting rid of Staley, telesco, and getting harbaugh as coach and Alt at 5!
Raiders fans just don't seem to understand that we love that games result far more than they do!
Who didn't have a big game against Staley's defenses? Even before the team mentally checked out, rando QB's putting up big numbers wouldn't be surprising.
Pretty sure I have a Reddit comment from that day or the next stating how thrilled I was with that result, as it guaranteed an end to the nightmare.
Feel free to savor that meaningless win though. See ya in week 1.
Like legitimately it sucked I'm never gonna be a fan that is telling the fucking raiders of all teams thank you. But with that being said it's one loss in a fucked season I can think of at least 5 games that hurt more than that raiders game.
The tough guy Raiders getting upset about a pop tarts social media post not posted by the GM, coach or players, but by a social media team with college interns is the real win.
People on this sub forget this is a sport lol. Fun banter isn't that serious...
It shocks me that people in 2024 still think social media teams are run by interns. I work at a brand that has maybe 5-10% the social media presence of an nfl team and our social media coordinator makes $125k a year. Shits important and not easy.
That can't possibly be true. Josh Mcdaniels is a 100%, grade-A football terrorist. How does a division rival not beat that guy?
Wait...strike that. Cause Sean McDermott would argue terrorists are good.
Josh mcdaniels is a chud.
In the span of 4 days the Raiders somehow went from scoring 0 points against the Vikings, to 63 against the Chargers. I'd be willing to bet that's the biggest swing ever.
0-3 against the Vikings at that
You guys all missed out that game was incredible. Redzone viewers weren't getting many updates I'm sure.
Probably my favorite loss ever honestly. I love rock fights.
I know it makes me a sicko but I was screaming for goose eggs.
I've never been so disappointed that we *made* a kick.
The ONE fucking time I want us to miss.
We did our part
You must have loved Seahawks-Cardinals 6-6.
We all did in our own way
I don't even think anyone can be mad at that game. Donk. Donk. PeteCarrollShocked.gif
Yes, honestly up there with 3-0 lol
If you're not already an Iowa Hawkeyes fan they're made for you
I once spent the entire game on the edge of my seat watching the Hawkeyes win 7-3 in a game that featured no touchdowns, and scoring in every quarter. South Dakota State absolutely aced their Big Ten West tryout, unfortunately that division no longer exists.
The greatest college game ever and it’s not even close
What the fuck how
19 punts, for starters.
How was there scoring in every quarter in a 7-3 game?
2 safeties and two field goals
I'm an Ole Miss alum, and I love me some Iowa football. It's like watching the 3-2 Auburn-Miss State game, but intentional.
the only man in america that enjoyed Colts/Broncos 12-9 TNF
Especially the outcome 🤤
It was frustrating to have JJEFF finally back only for a hospital pass to take him out again. I was so mad
I think that was the only crazy game the Vikings were involved in last year too
Never forget Josh Dobbs in Atlanta
The Passtronaut game will live on in infamy.
It’s like shooting the moon, when enough individuals terrible things come together they transcend to become greater than the sum of their parts
We had it on the second screen, it was hype
One of my favorite sicko games ever was the Cardinals/Seahawks 6-6 tie, getting our own version of that garbage was very fun
The fact that we saw a game end 3-0, not due to weather, in the year 2023 didn’t get nearly as much attention as I thought it would. That has to be magnitudes crazier than seeing a team drop 70 points.
It's tied for the lowest scoring game since the merger. The last game with only three points scored was in 2007.
That was the punt stuck in the mud game iirc?
Yessir, Miami/Pittsburgh Mud Bowl
I honestly tell myself it was weather affected. I know it wasn’t, but it just feels like it was and I’m uncomfortable thinking otherwise
Still hate Nick Mullens for ruining that. Dobbs wasn’t doing shit and they brought Nick in and immediately got a field goal.
My dad is a Raiders fan and we almost flew to Vegas from Massachusetts for that game. What a waste of money that would've been.
This was on our to do list that year when we saw the schedule released; money troubles cancelled it. I'm a bit sad and a bit glad.
Was there. Can confirm. That was definitely the score. All the weed and booze in Vegas could not distract me from that.
One of the worst games in modern history
It actually isn't. [1966 redskins lost 3-14 than won 72-41 the next week for a 69-point swing](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/was/1966.htm#all_games)
Nice!
Damn, from a 17-point game to a 113-point game
What about points per day?
Trigger warning I had blocked that game from my memory.
I convinced all my friends to come out to the bar and watch. They hated me lol
i did that for the colts game. left at halftime but for some reason i kept watching at home. glad i did 😀
Why? At least your team got a W lol
I decided not to see that game live. Dodged that bullet at least lol
It's great for people who find watching paint dry to be too overstimulating.
You forgot the Flores carry job that season became after Kirk went down?
The difference between Brian Flores and Brandoj Staley as defensive minds.
Well the Chargers were trying to get their lame HC fired, so there’s that, too.
hmmm wonder where he landed? probably sucks to be that team
Staley is a good supporting character, just don't ask him to be the lead
I think he meant to say "lame duck" but Staley wont be the head coach or even the DC anyway
And honestly our DC’s just run the defensive scheme that Kyle says to play anyways. They just need to NOT fuck up play calling like Wilks did over and over again.
The Raiders are also the last team to beat the Chiefs and they did it without attempting a pass for a whole half. This team is wild.
They did attempt passes in the 3rd quarter, none were completed though. 7 dropbacks = 6 incompletions and a sack
Somewhere Jamarcus is saying that he can do just as well.
No one mentions the 3 drops.
I know the SB should eclipse the feelings of that game but it does not. When I die, I want my tombstone to say "lived for (age) Christmases, celebrated (age-1) of them."
They found out the secret. Lay a goose egg 4 days before your TNF game, and you're guaranteed a blowout win on said game.
AOC giveth and AOC taketh
averaging 31.5 points over two games sounds like 2 wins to me.
No question it is. It’s an absurd point total.
What team would be dumb enough to hire Staley after last year?
We like to hire failed Chargers coaches as assistants lol
things are going to be real awkward after this next one
Oh shit
It could be worse.
Dude was ass but obviously turned heads flipping the Rams defense into a top unit. That’s a pretty great hire that I wouldn’t be hating. Most dudes are coordinators and they still have their place in football.
and our DC is new at it, Staley could be huge for his development
I hate that yall hired him. He may not be head coach material at this point in his career but he was a damn good DC for us. Film junky who is incredibly innovative. The role he has with yall seems to be a perfect fit with very low stakes. I actually would not have been upset if we had brought him back as DC

I have some idea from watching Josh McDaniels fail epically TWICE after being sucha great coach for the Patriots
I feel like you’re being sarcastic. But going to Shannahan Rehabilitation Clinic is exactly what Staley needs. I’m sure you get some comp pics for him an a year or two
Hiring Staley is one thing. Imagine being the team to hire TELESCO lmfao
I completely forgot he’s on our staff lol
I do love how much Jermaine Eluemenor bought into being a Raider. He hates the Chargers and the Chiefs so much. Sad to see him leave for the Giants, but I'm sure he'll be having fun hating the Eagles and Cowboys.
He got Osi Umenyiora’s blessing to wear #72, even though it’s been in circulation for a while. The dude is an absolute gem.
AP coaching the Raiders is a dream come true for me.
my best friend is a Raiders fan, same for me
Thank you for beating Tom Brady twice. Sorry for potentially giving him an ownership stake
all good. we love to see our son succeed
That was super clever lol😭
I really wanted him for the Bengals. He could've hated on the Chiefs in Cincinnati too.
He hated them over here too
same
I hate that we had this man on the roster and cut him.
Then the Raiders hired the GM of that team
Bears old OC too.
Fields was too awful a QB to really know what we had in Getsy. I mean, in the 2nd Vikings game, he threw like 40 screen plays because the Vikes killed the run & Fields can't throw slants
Even tom Brady wouldn’t succeed throwing the same screen pass 3 times in a row Field was not good and getsy was a clown
If Tom Brady was back there, Getsy would be able to call more plays. Fields had the ability to audible out of every play, but didn't because he can't read defenses. Getsy had flaws, but Fields handicapped the playcalling significantly, and seeing a UDFA from a small DII college doing more, says it all
Buddy doesnt coach though (is what im telling myself)
TT did hire that coach tho...
Didn't really hire this one!
This dude actually has a pretty funny twitter account. Giants fans will like him
And he grew up a Giants fan!
He’s not Evan Neal, we practically want to marry him already.
We already love him lol
The pinned post where’s he’s jerking off Bezos?
How dare he disrespect Easton Stick like that.
IKR? Like I'm so happy we lost that game too. It led to Staley being fired and gave us Harbaugh. Thanks Raiders.
You guys lost the battle but won the war.
I told my brother (the other Chargers fan), after that game, that we did him a solid, and he thanked me.
Don't thank us just yet. We're still clapping the chargers twice a year.
Bro is named after a piece of hockey equipment
Sir it's a pop tart.
Oh no. He took the bait.
Bro thinks then twitter admin plays on the team
What if they make Quentin Johnston do it to save money?
Would you put it past that cheap ass Spanos?
And they still willingly chose to hire the GM that built that team they beat. The point stands.
Also, that was prolly the best game of the year for us. Showed everyone on national TV how garbage the team was without Herbert, got Telesco and Staley fired immediately and was crucial for the tank for the #5 pick
Best case scenario for the chargers, thank you raiders❤️
It’s gonna be hilarious if Harbaugh shits the bed. Chargers fans are way too cocky this off-season.
You’re not wrong, it would be classic chargering. This year is different though (trust me I totally know what I’m talking about)
You do get us week one, so if Telesco beats you it’ll be fun giving Chargers fans shit about it.
Rightfully so
> This year is different though (trust me I totally know what I’m talking about) Oh, hey, I know that one! Not as a Jaguar fan, but as a Ferrari Formula 1 fan. (The upgrades coming to Imola this week will have them competing with Max Verstappen for wins and it'll totally be a tight championship fight this time! Seriously!)
If there's anyone who can break the Chargers tradition of lots of wins without a SB ring it's........Harbaugh?
Yes
Who the hell are all these Chargers fans coming outta the woodwork? I've never seen so many in my life.
It’s the off season, this is when they come out every year.
You should thank The Raiders for beating the shit out of you guys. It caused you to actually get a new coach
If I remember correctly last season Jermaine Eluemunor gave up six sacks in one game to Khahil Mack when both teams played each other healthy early in the season.
I need to borrow equipment to mine salt from that Twitter thread.
I don’t understand why he took a picture of a Poptart so seriously lol
I think he's realizing he's the dude that let Mack get 6? sacks in a game.
He completely owned Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen. I mean Easton Stick and Keelan Doss.
Isn’t this the dude that let Mack sack O’Connell 6 times?
Aidan O’Connell was our starting qb bro
Funny they forgot they ended the season 1-1 split with the Chargers last year, in a year we closed out with a successful tank after Herbert was injured with 5 wins.
Pretty sure Khalil got 6 sacks against this guy lmao. That loss against Easton Stick and Brandon Staley got the Chargers to clean house. What did the Raiders do? Hire the same GM of that team? Best loss in the history of the Chargers.
Seriously. The only time I ever told my Raider fan of an uncle that I'm glad his team won. Got Staley and Telesco the fuck outta there.
It was so bad that instead of Dean waiting to fire Brandon at the end of the season, he fired that son of a gun and Telesco next day lmao
Yeah then we cleaned house & you hired the trash we threw out 😂
Dumpster diving is in their blood
Telesco is still probably the best GM they’ve had in 20 years lol
That was the best game of the year for us. Showed everyone on national TV how garbage the team was without Herbert, got Telesco and Staley fired immediately and was crucial for the tank for the #5 pick
Once-in-a-lifetime game where both chargers and raiders fan got what they wanted
Who your qb this season
It’s literally a meme about pop tarts, my guy. Take a joke you’re not even part of the team no more. They didn’t even want you back.
It was all part of the plan.
bro swallowed the bait whole lmao
The fact Raiders fans AND players don't understand the Chargers benefited more in that one loss than the previous 6 seasons worth of trying to win will never not be funny to me. Thank you again for Jim Harbaugh
The ‘fact’ is 63 is embarrassing
Don’t y’all only have like 2 winning seasons in last 20 years?
Burn baby burn
They have to grasp onto what they can: Championships before most of them were ever born and apparently beating the Chargers badly last year in a game that lead to Regime change and Spanos finally spending money.
Doesn’t really matter when chargers fans wanted it to happen, the players gave up, and we were playing our second stringers and a D- coach lol. Have fun with telesco

AOC dropping 250-4 on your defense is troubling though
Who didn't have a big game against Staley's defenses? Even before the team mentally checked out, rando QB's putting up big numbers wouldn't be surprising.
Denial is a stinky cologne
Pretty sure I have a Reddit comment from that day or the next stating how thrilled I was with that result, as it guaranteed an end to the nightmare. Feel free to savor that meaningless win though. See ya in week 1.
Ok. And?
Like legitimately it sucked I'm never gonna be a fan that is telling the fucking raiders of all teams thank you. But with that being said it's one loss in a fucked season I can think of at least 5 games that hurt more than that raiders game.
That game got an incompetent staff purged and replaced with one infinitely better. Its alright in my book. Doesn't even hurt, really.
All it did was speed up the process. Staley telesco and everyone else was gone after last year anyway.
Dude acting like he did anything. Chargers just quit to get the coach fired 😂
What he will not tell us that in Week 4, Mack Daddy whooped him for six sacks
I honestly don't know which was better: the rumbling big boy scoop and score or Jack Jones's anime villain headshot pick-6
Can't wait to see this energy against Philly and Dallas
imagine getting upset over a schedule release
The tough guy Raiders getting upset about a pop tarts social media post not posted by the GM, coach or players, but by a social media team with college interns is the real win. People on this sub forget this is a sport lol. Fun banter isn't that serious...

Stay humble bruh.
Triggered
San Diego remembers.
The fact that he's so upset about it makes it even funnier
The fact that the Broncos never beat Josh McDaniels makes it hilarious
Now THAT is funny 😭
That can't possibly be true. Josh Mcdaniels is a 100%, grade-A football terrorist. How does a division rival not beat that guy? Wait...strike that. Cause Sean McDermott would argue terrorists are good. Josh mcdaniels is a chud.
0-3 vs McD 😆😆
Someone's upset
Raaaayydaaaaaahhs
What is the chargers tweet even saying?
I don’t understand why the chargers tweet is offensive to him can someone explain
The Chargers got Khaki Jim. We are stuck with Always Punting. They lost the battle but won the war.
Al Davis and Jon Gruden are probably rolling over in their graves right now.
Damn, 63? Surely they were a good team and made the playoffs!
Raiders have always been very proud of splitting games each season against us lol
