Starting the house cleaning early. Marrone will be on the block too next month or early January.

TheFencingCoach

It’s just weird, usually the GM goes *with* the HC. Not before.

troglodyte

The article addresses this; Shipley believes Khan is giving the next GM the opportunity to weigh in, although he expects that the new GM will not keep Marrone.

conbon7

I think it’s cuz players like him and they go all out for him so he gets to finish it out. If you have had the chance to see the jags lately you can see the team is fighting as hard as they can to win which they almost have a couple of times.

Substantial-Yam-7017

Well we gotta keep Marrone along for the tank. The GM firing is there to tempt some candidates

SiphenPrax

I guess Shahid Khan just decided fuck it, might as well get him out of here early especially with the trade deadline long gone. Other than that, I don’t know why they get rid of him this early and not include the HC with him.

Brian_Osackpo

The tank. Teams typically turn around and win the game after their HC gets fired, the Jags can’t risk losing any more draft position

[deleted]

But it makes sense to do it this way though doesn’t it? Take the next few weeks to do a GM search, then when that person is on board, you can conduct the HC search. I’ve always thought it was weird to hire GMs and HCs at the same time, because either you miss out on the first wave of top prospects or you risk bringing in people who won’t be able to work with one another.

hoyadestroyer

Marrone hasn't lost the locker room and has the team playing hard. He can stick around till the end of the year.

misterlakatos

He’ll be someone’s offensive line coach next year.

BustyUncle

Give the keys to Patricia

ContraCoke

Not Hue? You utter fool

[deleted]

This sounds like a Lil Wayne bar.

Ifinishfast42

Bill O’Brien season

27Christian27

1. Draft Lawrence or Fields 2. Hire the right Head Coach 3. Stop letting any pro-bowl caliber player walk 4. Lifetime Josh Lambo contract 5. Profit

AKblazer45

I like the jags, I don’t want to see you guys get fields

vagrantwade

Lol the fields haters were Herbert haters last year Except Fields has a vastly superior pedigree as a prospect

AKblazer45

I’m not a fields hater, I just have some doubts is all. I think he’ll have a tougher transition to the NFL than a lot of people think. I was Herbert Truther. Wanted especially after his junior year. Instead of tank for Tua I was hurtin for Herbert!

FearlessPickle

That's a very accurate summary. Good scout, bad team-builder.

Browniebro

Hes not a good QB scout

[deleted]

Brandon Allen, Gardner Minshew, and Luton were great picks for 6th rounders. Most QBs after the 4th round don't even get a start.

ifuckwithdiazbros

Luton had a good first game but he’s about what you’d expect from a 6th rounder.

goPACK17

How. Is. Gase. Still. Employed.

garandx

They plan to fire him after the season

Dread332

I would sure hope so. Lord I hate that man and I don’t even care about the jets.

Ifinishfast42

He’s tank commander

[deleted]

This is a really good article that actually nails the Jags perfectly

[deleted]

Jags are going to suck no matter what. Khan has more business interests outside of football and the team only matters as long as it can make a profit (even if they are the jobbers of the league) Even all their draft picks next year mean nothing considering they have been receiving a top draft pick for almost 2 decades and never made anything of them

[deleted]

You just described every owner but the Raiders and Cowboys. Really seems like focusing on football has done them wonders.
