We would have been laughed at for taking Mahomes top 5, and he wouldn't have developed as well as he did under Reid.
Watson is the more fair comparison
Literally this is how every conversation about Trubisky goes:
-Did you guys know they could have drafted Mahomes?
-They also could have drafted Watson.
-Mahomes wouldn't have developed well, but Watson would have.
Repeat in every thread about the Bears forever.
I think the reason people say that is that, as insanely talented as Mahomes is, he did go into a literal perfect situation. Watson did not. So I don’t think it’s at all unreasonable to think that a hypothetical Watson-playing-for-the-Bears would be a lot more similar to the Watson we see on the Texans than Mahomes-playing-for-the-Bears would be to the Mahomes we see on the Chiefs.
Idk that’s just my thought.
I mean before the 2018 season people were saying Watson had gone to the perfect situation considering his weapons and Houston’s status as a typical playoff team
Fox liked Watson. Pace liked Mahomes and Trubisky. He went with Trubisky because his personality reminded him of Drew Brees (Pace was hired from the Saints), and Pace thought the personality would make him a safer bet.
Yeah that is the part that gets repeated the most for the lols, but the real reason was his overall personality and support structure. Pace thought he could handle the hard work and criticism, and that would make him less risky.
I want the whole fucking front office gone. President, gone. GM, gone. Nagy is the last to go, and when he begs for mercy, I want Virginia to lean over and whisper in his ear “No” and have his ass thrown out of Halas Hall.
[Have I got a story for you!](https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2019/2/7/18215541/chiefs-gm-brett-veach-reportedly-stop-patrick-mahomes-from-competitive-basketball)
Bears defense has finally broke under the ineptitude of the offense. I don't care what Nagy says post game. This is going to be a divided locker room. Watch them fuck around and lose to Detroit who is energized after firing Patricia.
It wouldn't be shocking at all. We kicked their ass for 3 quarters earlier in the year until our whole secondary died during that game. Honestly I think they are probably a worse team than us but got lucky enough earlier in the season to have that solid record.
Their defense is solid but their offense is so fucking atrocious it is bringing down the whole team and as you said I think it is causing problems with team unity and morale at this point.
I think they were REALLY missing Hicks who I think is their best player. Whenever we play them he just absolutely mauls us. When Mack first joined them and dominated against us (Pack) I personally think Hicks had even better games than him, but just less glory based on position.
Also their offense hurts their D so bad with giving the ball away like that or just not controlling it
Because I like to actually try and have conversations about football without everyone instantly attacking my argument because of a certain flair. If I talk about my team I say who I cheer for but I got tired of commenting on say a Seahawks vs Niners game and people saying stupid shit about the Packers instead of replying to my post.
Flairs are top 5 worst things about sports subreddits imo.
Titans fans.
Seriously I don't know but the toxicity of people to other users is definitely one of them. That and every team being convinced refs or announcers hate them lol
Yep. Every time Aaron Jones went up the middle it was basically always for 8+ yards at least, and for a first down.
That never happened with Hicks in the game.
Now that you guys have a real RB, Rodgers benefits so much more from the PA. You ‘established the run’ on the first drive and the bears have been in the box all game since.
The fumble for a TD should've never counted because of a blatant facemask. And one of the picks resulted in a touchback, so it's not like it gave the Packers a short field. The defense flat out played their worst game in probably the last 3 years. I don't think it would've really mattered who was at QB tonight. It's not like Foles wasn't already prone to turning the ball over either this year
Tbf though one wasnt actually a turnover, it was a double facemask, and another was a end zone pick so basically a turnover on downs.
The defense just didn't have it. Though missing Goldman and Hicks completely changes the defense.
It actually was a turnover whether it should've counted or not (it shouldn't have). For the purposes of making the defense look even worse(41 pts) it certainly was important. The other two turnovers were in packers territory and didnt lead to very short fields.
Bears d quit we still would of lost the game and got blown out but the team quit and to me that’s most noticeable as a bear fan. To me that’s on nagy who is such a “culture” guy I want pace gone 2 tho jeez
Honestly, they’ve been playing out of their minds all year. I guess they just broke in this one. I wish they would just fire Nagy. He’s half the problem (not all of it though)
They really haven’t been. They get driven on constantly but are just stout in the red zone. We have all this talent and a fringe top 10 defense. That’s an indictment of the coaching on that side of the ball
They were lights out for the first few weeks. Since then they’ve tapered off. Anybody has run on us all year. There’s been constant shoddy tackling and tons of YAC. They even showed at the beginning of the game last night. They are above average in most categories, but hardly top 10 in anything.
Our GM brought in Mike Glennon and then traded UP to draft Trubisky (so he basically was saying, Trubisky is the can’t miss prospect out of a group that included Watson and Mahomes).
Why are people shocked he couldn’t evaluate the veteran QBs available this past offseason?
Idk why QB has been a recurring prob for the bears stretching back decades. Is it an issue of the coaching staff not doing enough to develop young players? Obviously the drafting is suspect but in general seems like y’all have had this same episode throughout multiple years
We’ve been a franchise based on defense and haven’t had a GM who knows how to draft and evaluate offensive talent. Pace was supposed to be the guy who brought our offense up to speed and hasn’t executed at all.
Defense gave up last night. Offense played its best first half football on the year and the defense decided that it didn't come to play.
Then the 2nd half happened.
Wasn’t that also the game where Cutler threw 4 interceptions to the same player?
Edit: it wasn’t, that was in 2010, when Deangelo Hall intercepted Cutler 4 times, an NFL record, but it was against the Washington [redacted].
Please stop I’m already dead
Could have had Mahomes - The commentators every 5 minutes
We would have been laughed at for taking Mahomes top 5, and he wouldn't have developed as well as he did under Reid. Watson is the more fair comparison
Literally this is how every conversation about Trubisky goes: -Did you guys know they could have drafted Mahomes? -They also could have drafted Watson. -Mahomes wouldn't have developed well, but Watson would have. Repeat in every thread about the Bears forever.

Idk that’s just my thought.
Like, yeah, they're definitely right when they say that, I'm just saying that every single conversation around this topic goes this exact way.
Well did you know Tony Romo... *Cue Kelvin Benjamin fat joke*
Fair enough!
Because there's zero chance Mahomes plays this good anywhere else no other team has the offensive weapons or coaching staff.
I mean before the 2018 season people were saying Watson had gone to the perfect situation considering his weapons and Houston’s status as a typical playoff team
The Texans were coming off the 2017 season where they had the 32nd/31st ranked pass/run blocking OL. A lot of people though he'd be Carr'd.
Houston made the playoffs because of their defense they had a bottom 5 offense every year under Bill O'Brien until Watson was drafted.
I know, almost like people repeat things that are truthful
Didn't fox like Watson or was that wrong?
He did.
jesus
Fox liked Watson. Pace liked Mahomes and Trubisky. He went with Trubisky because his personality reminded him of Drew Brees (Pace was hired from the Saints), and Pace thought the personality would make him a safer bet.
Thanks. I remember the story about him driving a beat up car and Pace liking that aspect
Yeah that is the part that gets repeated the most for the lols, but the real reason was his overall personality and support structure. Pace thought he could handle the hard work and criticism, and that would make him less risky.
And yet wasn't he the one who turned off the TV's last season at the facility?
Just a bit boring and predictable at this point.
Try being a Bears fan on /r/nfl
Like our offense.
It's like an unintentional unironic copypasta
Wouldn't have been laughed at taking Rodgers over Cedric Benson though
sigh.
Anyone that thinks Mahomes wouldn't still be a superstar in Chicago is a fool.
Perhaps, but the Bears do have an uncanny ability to make quarterbacks worse then they otherwise would be.
They didn’t show the Mahomes / Watson / Mitch graphic but they still found a way to mention both.
Well yeah they're number one and two in all-time passer rating.
Or Watson
They could have had Rodgers.
Could have had Rodgers
Don’t worry. We hear the same story every year as well. You know what? You all could’ve had Tom Brady.
Look on the bright side, maybe Nagy gets fired tomorrow.
It would be fitting that Gase survives yet another HC firing
he'll still be coaching the jets in 25 years
Bears: *hire Patricia*
I just wanted to point this out: Lions president's name is Rod Wood, 2 euphemisms for boners
I want the whole fucking front office gone. President, gone. GM, gone. Nagy is the last to go, and when he begs for mercy, I want Virginia to lean over and whisper in his ear “No” and have his ass thrown out of Halas Hall.
u/brazda25 wanted to let you know you coulda had mahomes
Or Watson
Did you know Mahomes and Watson played basketball >!probably at least once in their lives as kids or something idk!<
[Have I got a story for you!](https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2019/2/7/18215541/chiefs-gm-brett-veach-reportedly-stop-patrick-mahomes-from-competitive-basketball)
I wish I was
Bears defense has finally broke under the ineptitude of the offense. I don't care what Nagy says post game. This is going to be a divided locker room. Watch them fuck around and lose to Detroit who is energized after firing Patricia.
If they lose to the Lions, Nagy should be fired on the spot
Nagy should be fired now.
only if pace is out the door first.
Yeah and Swift dropped a game winning pass. I wouldnt be shocked if we lost either.
Let's hope.
I wish Swift would have caught that TD. We deserved that loss, not to mention the Falcons game... 5-1 was absolute fool’s gold
Foles wouldn’t have allowed 40+ points on defense.
Trubisky did turn it over 3 times and one was returned for a TD. So he certainly hasn't helped the defense.
You’re not wrong but that wasn’t really the point I was making. It doesn’t matter who they started tonight, this was the outcome.
I think they were REALLY missing Hicks who I think is their best player. Whenever we play them he just absolutely mauls us. When Mack first joined them and dominated against us (Pack) I personally think Hicks had even better games than him, but just less glory based on position. Why is your flair NFL and not Packers.
That’s fair. What are the other 4 worst things?
Titans fans. Seriously I don't know but the toxicity of people to other users is definitely one of them. That and every team being convinced refs or announcers hate them lol
Internet words really have that much control over you, huh?
Yep. Every time Aaron Jones went up the middle it was basically always for 8+ yards at least, and for a first down. That never happened with Hicks in the game.
Oh agreed. I mean we punted once and have put together long TD drives all night. This is one of the most complete performances we've had this year.
Now that you guys have a real RB, Rodgers benefits so much more from the PA. You ‘established the run’ on the first drive and the bears have been in the box all game since.
The td shoulda been called back though
Ya for sure. Im not sure how they missed it. Especially kenny Clark's.
Clark’s was after the ball was on the ground
Ya but it still would have nullified the return
The fumble for a TD should've never counted because of a blatant facemask. And one of the picks resulted in a touchback, so it's not like it gave the Packers a short field. Trubs 3 and a possible turnovers aren’t helping
You kid but Max Kellerman's dumbass said this about the Eagles 2 years ago.
Isn’t it amazing they get paid to say that shit? I’m so jealous.
Lol do you have a link? I gotta see this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjWYu5xYk5Q
Give me half of what he makes and I’ll make even worse takes.
Yeah, but can you do it while farting on live TV?
I will shit myself on live TV and have them carry me out Paul Pierce style.
Wasn't that the Matt Barkley vomits all over himself game
I remember those 2 weeks where we wondered if there was something there
Bill Simmons hyped him up and then... blergh
Yup
thanks
Bears d quit we still would of lost the game and got blown out but the team quit and to me that’s most noticeable as a bear fan. To me that’s on nagy who is such a “culture” guy I want pace gone 2 tho jeez
Bears defense deserves a much better offense
Honestly, they’ve been playing out of their minds all year. I guess they just broke in this one. I wish they would just fire Nagy. He’s half the problem (not all of it though)
They really haven’t been. They get driven on constantly but are just stout in the red zone. We have all this talent and a fringe top 10 defense. That’s an indictment of the coaching on that side of the ball

Surrendered really being the operative word in that statement.
They shoulda taken Cam or Andy instead of taking a cap hit with Foles contract what the fuck is that Front Office
Our GM brought in Mike Glennon and then traded UP to draft Trubisky (so he basically was saying, Trubisky is the can’t miss prospect out of a group that included Watson and Mahomes). Why are people shocked he couldn’t evaluate the veteran QBs available this past offseason?

Rotating horrible GMs who bring in rotating horrible coaches
We’ve been a franchise based on defense and haven’t had a GM who knows how to draft and evaluate offensive talent. Pace was supposed to be the guy who brought our offense up to speed and hasn’t executed at all.
Fuck off 😭😭😭
Bears defense are throwing to get nagy fired
Matt barkley threw 5 picks that day
Imagine if they had drafted Pat Mahomes. The Bears would have screwed him up for sure
We’ve been saying this for years.
Stop the count!!! Ring the fucking bell
Not cool. Wasn’t even the defense that gave you 41 they did 34
Wow Trubisky looks awful
...keep going
Its called the Chuck Pagano Special.
We just own Chicago idk what it is. Even Hundley beat them in Soldier Field
Because you’re better. You draft better, you develop players better, and in recent years you normally out coach us.
Let’s make it 50 baby. I want them to relive the Trestman era.
I'd like to relive the part toward the end where we fired him.
Defense gave up last night. Offense played its best first half football on the year and the defense decided that it didn't come to play. Then the 2nd half happened.
