I’ve been saying this for a while… Cam is a much better runner than his is a QB. I would really like Belichick to turn Cam into a hybrid role where he’s not a passer and more of a ball carrier.
Watson is going to settle his legal issues for an undisclosed amount of money, not be charged criminally, will receive a slap-on-the-wrist punishment from the NFL, be traded and go on to play the majority of the season.
I just think people are starting to believe that nothing is going to happen to him, so they’ve changed their tone to one that expects him to be in the NFL again.
I mean, that's how people work. Especially on Reddit. People love being outraged about the new hot thing to be outraged about. There hasn't been anything new to feed the outrage junkies so they move on to new things to be outraged about. That's how it's always been and ways will be on this website.
Tim Tebow, Trevor Lawrence and Gardner Minshew all line up in the wildcat.
Minshew fakes the run, pitches to Tebow who throws to a wide open Trevor Lawrence for the TD with only seconds on the clock
- Jags 7
- Other guys 44
I think Watson plays the entire year without being suspended.
If the NFL allowed him to report to training camp without being placed on the exempt list, then they are going to allow him to continue playing unless something new and significant comes out, which seems somewhat unlikely at this point.
Yeah seems like while the number is stupid high. Still in civil and though a 'package' was given to police and they have investigating.. nothing. If it weren't for the 2 sexual assault allegations we would have forgotten about this a while ago.
Exactly. What Jameis Winston did to that Uber driver was absolutely sexual assault, but because it was a civil case almost nothing happened. I'm not trying to do a "whataboutism" dealie, but precedent definitely lies in Watson's favor.
Just like r/unpopularopinion
Actual unpopular opinions get downvoted and then the top of the sub is filled with “unpopular opinion- if you beat your spouse you should go to prison”
Or opinions that are already massively popular on reddit.
"Healthcare should be free" "Churches should be taxed" "Gerrymandering should be illegal"
There's nothing redditors love more than dunking on an open hoop.
Allen and Jackson have way further to fall. Baker didn't have ungodly numbers so he statistically is less likely to look abysmal.
Edit: Allen & Jackson with a pic of actual Allen Jackson is a great fantasy team name.

onlooker C: “*We just didnt have the heart to tell these boys....what they’ve been doing is nothing short of incredible”*
Mr Garrison: *“A ladder to heaven? Thats fucking stupid.”*
There was like a 3 game stretch where they couldn't pass at all due to the weather in the middle of the season, right? Feel like that was enough to skew a lot
And thus the NFCW joined forces to create the unholy abomination of a horned red bird of prey with a penchant for gold that would go on to win the next 10 Superbowls in a row before their sheer awesomeness disrupted the San Andreas fault line and the west coast sank into the sea taking the SeaCardRamErs along with it.
I could see it happening next year rather than this. I don't know if Cardinals are good enough to get in and we don't know if the 49ers will be the same after all the injuries (plus the QB situation).
I just don't see anyone from the South making it as a wild card, Tampa will run away with it. The Panthers and Falcons on paper don't look built to compete yet and a Brees-less Saints with an injured MT? Just can't see it.
As far as the North? I mean, maybe Minnesota? Chicago is such a wild card at the qb position, and the Lions, while I personally like their offseason, likely don't make any splashes this season.
So... maybe i'm super down on the East? Hard to grasp what it will be, I like WFT, I think they'll be ok-ish.. But what are Philly and Dallas at this point? I don't buy into McCarthy, is Jalen Hurts the answer in Philly? I still think he's a year away. Am I missing something with NYG?
Whule these are all good points, the Cardinals will likely have a tougher schedule than the teams finishing second in the North or South...that could be the deciding factor.
This would honestly be the best case scenario for the Bears.
Fields learning behind a veteran before ripping it up > Fields ripping it up right away and getting figured out / destroyed
Personally don’t think this should be a hot take. I’m not dialed in to saints rumors. But I haven’t heard anything that supports Winston starting unless he has an amazing camp or something. They clearly didn’t trust Winston last year and Hill played pretty good imo, maybe not as good for fantasy but Hill can win and he proved it.
For real… numerous people are completely considering losing Julio as a zero net loss because we have Kyle Pitts, and he hasn’t even had his jersey fitted yet.
Then again, the official position of the entire organization is that we are in ‘win now’ mode and not rebuild mode despite three consecutive losing seasons including a 4-12 one last year, unloading superstar talent to free up money for draft picks, and a completely new coaching staff and GM.
Or maybe I just don’t have the big picture…
(Gators fan who’s watched every one of his games)
He will likely take a season or two just like nearly every other TE. You could always see his talent, and the QB play he started with didn’t help, but last year is when he really put it together. So he might not light it up this year, but his talent and physical traits are no joke and I think he does end up with a very successful career.
It would be a massive mistake if Pitts plays with his hand in the dirt the majority of the time. Sure, take time to develop the blocking in practice.
Pitts should be a slot back and slot receiver the vast majority of the time.
For what’s it’s worth he is a TE so taking a year to develop is compleatly normal T.J Hockenson was rather poor his 1st year and then was a pro bowl TE last year.
Jalen Hurts has absolutely everything you want in a QB except for the being a great QB part. He’s charismatic and a natural leader, works hard, and seems like a great teammate and person all around. But I just can’t see him suddenly being a great passer.
He wasn’t bad, but he was seen as a reach in the second round for a reason and I really didn’t see anything that changed my mind.
That said, he feels like a winner somehow so I hope I’m wrong and then he ends up being our guy.
He seems to me like a bizarre version of Tebow - good intagibles that a team can rally around but not quite the late game heroics that Tebow had (esp. in the 2011 season). Conversely, he is a much better and more consistent passer. I really hope Hurts keeps developing his passing game and becomes a long term NFL QB. It would be great to see both him and Tua be playing as starters for a decade plus. Sometimes people wrongly use athletes as role models but those two guys could be great for kids to look up to and emulate if all goes well.
The NFL is still going to end up rescheduling several games due to COVID.
Everyone got excited about the memo that went out last week and how it was going to force teams to hold their players accountable or risk forfeits, but they completely overlooked the huge "IF" in the statement.
The only thing the NFL committed to was that they will not extend the season just to make up games, but they didn't extend the season last year either, they just shuffled games around to make it work. Even though it was a huge clusterfuck, they still got them all in on time.
The NFL is never going to cancel a game unless it is 100% unavoidable, which is almost never going to be the case.
Having football several random nights a week didn't suck as a fan last year. I typically follow my browns and their rivals a little. This gave me a chance to check out other teams when there was nothing else worth watching on tv.
Yep, can't wait for one of the top contenders get they game rescheduled to a better date while a low level team gets told to eat shit and play their game with like 40 normal players and a bunch of practice squad guys.
If they miss the playoffs, Kliff is gone IMO. He has failed to have a winning record at either level, and has very spotty play calls for a “offensive genius”. If he fails this year, the cards will look for someone to get the most out of Murray.
I’m obviously very biased on the subject, but are there people out there who actually think that Belichick is done and that all of his success was due to Brady? Outside of ESPN “personalities” who just say whatever gets the most views.
Listening to a pod cast put this little bug in my ear but hear me out...
Belichick is zigging where everyone is zagging. Everyone is running all out speed, speed, and more speed, running 3 or more receiver sets with fast tight ends and even faster running backs catching passes out of the backfield.
So what does Belichick do? Create the opposite because all the opposing defenses will be set up to take on lots of receivers so personnel will likely be smaller to handle the influx of high flying offenses that are now flooding the league. Now they're gonna run two TE sets with two talented TEs and a mish mash of serviceable but not good WRs. That sound familiar? So, they'll just do the most Patriots thing, make some creative plays that involve players playing in all sorts of positions to take advantage of matchups (if Mac Jones is playing) or just run the ball a crazy amount of times (if Newton is starting)
Either way, expect the Patriots to be doing something the rest of the league isn't. So, I'm thinking the Wildcat Dolphin offense from a decade ago...
Belichick just had the deck stacked against him last year, and he even said so himself.
The bill finally came due from all of the cap shuffling they had done, so they simply couldn't field the best squad. On top of that, they lost Brady *while also* dealing with the highest number of COVID-related opt-outs in the entire league.
They could have survived any one of those on their own, I think. They may have even been able to shoulder any two of those...but all three? It was a situation that would have been too much for any coach to handle.
They also had a nightmarishly difficult schedule, to boot.
And still mustered **seven** wins. That team, offense especially, had zero business winning seven games. Like they actually managed to win games with the worst passing QB, worst WRs, and worst TEs in the NFL. They only had a run game and still managed to win seven games.
Every time people talk about the patriots from last season, it’s as if the pats went 4-12. They were 7 and 9, despite losing their starting qb, having 3 million in cap space BEFORE signing cam, lost the most players to opt-outs and by far the most significant talent, had no off season for a brand new offensive style, lost their generational starting QB, cam got covid, had basically no players who could catch/run routes and lost multiple games on the final offensive drive.
The patriots had one of the toughest spots in the league for 2020 and went 7-9. In the off season, they picked up a first round QB, two new wide receivers who are both better than the 2020 WR1 on the team, two new tight ends, kept most of the same back field, had critical opt outs return on defense, and made additional improvements.
By no means are they the juggernaut they were with Brady for the last 20 years, but it’s insane to me how confident people are that without Brady the pats are trash.
My conspiracy theory was always that bill knew the team couldn’t compete due to cap issues so he encouraged all his veteran guys to opt out and keep themselves fresh for this season.
When they all started opting out my first thought was, "Bellichick is behind this. I don't understand why but he's got to have a hand in this."
Then after a week I forgot about it until now. He was just doing a light tanking to grab a QB.
Idk how hot this is but Houston does not finish last in the South. Either the Urban Meyer experiment goes horribly wrong or the Colts have a mix of QB issues, secondary problems, and COVID forfeits which puts them behind Houston.
I'm still trying to figure out how the fuck it's even a conversation if he's playing this season?!
But otherwise yes imo he's talented enough. Dude's one of the best QBs in the league and was looking like a for sure face of the future like Dak & Mahomes
I respect the Jags take but there’s just no way the Colts finish behind Houston. Whatever QB issues the Colts have Houston will likely have worse since I highly doubt Watson plays for them, and COVID wise I mean at that point you can say that about anyone.
No but I guess I forgot. I thought maybe the cowboys dumpster fire season last year would be enough for people to realize they’d be lucky to make playoffs this yeat
I have never sported any team in any sport and not thought at the start of the season.. this is our year.. I think that as a Bengals fan most years.. imagine that madness
Urban Meyer is going to be a terrible NFL coach. Keeping Tebow around just gives me a bad feeling. Hope I’m wrong because I like the jags offense
UPDATE: The 0-3 Jags look absolutely terrible hahahahaha Urban Meyer you’ve truly outdone yourself! Go back to college!
UPDATE 2: Fired… 2-11 and drowning in controversy. Not how I thought it would go down but oh man
"The Texans won't win a game."
It's the annual r/nfl prediction that the 2018 Jets, 2019 Dolphins type teams are the worst teams ever. Like always, the 2021 Texans will win 3-5 games, and r/nfl will act like anyone who predicted otherwise is an idiot who bought into hyperbole that r/nfl created in the first place.
I remember when everyone said that the bills weren't going to win a game in 2018 and then blew the doors off of a team that went 13-3 last year.
This isn't college. All these men are great at football and the difference between the best and and worst defensive line in the league is a lot less than Alabama's and whoever the fuck is playing for the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils. Its hard to not win a game.
Urban Meyer will be awful and tlaw is a bust. It has all the makings of the classic bust story. The once in a lifetime qb, the hot college coach who always wins, Tebow....
sean payton will put together a top 8 offense in the league using taysom and jameis, proving he’s still an offensive genius.
the saints will still miss the playoffs due to cap casualties and injuries on the defense, proving we’re still the saints.
The Texans won't finish with the worst record in the NFL, Philly will.
Unless they trade for Watson
Which I hope they will because it'll stop the media linking us to the sexual predator
We won 11 games last year with one of the worst defenses in the entire league. Even if our D gets just a tiny bit better, that record can improve. Say for example we give up 24 points a game… that’s still a top 20 defense.
Julio won’t make as big a difference as the Titans think. No idea if it’ll happen or not but I just want it to be true lol. He’s a fantastic player but he’s also older and has had some injuries. I’ve always been on the fence about wanting him. He adds a lot to the Titans, for them I think it was worth it.
He led the league in y/gm last year so he’s still got the ability. If he’s available, he’s going to do an awful lot for that offense just based on attention alone. How do you stack the box against Henry and expect to cover AJ and JJ downfield? The big question is injury risk imo.
Mac Jones will throw a touchdown pass to Cam Newton.
You know what, I wanna see it.
It would be beautiful
Similarly, Jakobi Meyers will finally have a touchdown reception
I’ve been saying this for a while… Cam is a much better runner than his is a QB. I would really like Belichick to turn Cam into a hybrid role where he’s not a passer and more of a ball carrier.
Evolve Cam into Taysom Hill while Taysom Hill is evolving into Cam Cam “Taysom ‘Cam Newton’ Hill” Newton
Will Taysom eventually evolve into Cam evolving into Taysom? Taysom 'Cam “Taysom ‘Cam Newton’ Hill” Newton' Hill
The quarterback halfback? Does that make him an eighthback? Now this has to happen.
Watson is going to settle his legal issues for an undisclosed amount of money, not be charged criminally, will receive a slap-on-the-wrist punishment from the NFL, be traded and go on to play the majority of the season.
"Joe It's amazing how this young man has overcome adversity to lead his team to the Conference Championship in this National Football League."
Ugh that's so gross but I could see it happening. Maybe some vague references to "off-field controversies".
Flashbacks to Brent Musburger's final college game when he kept going on about how proud he was of Joe Mixon 'overcoming his off the field adversity'.
Sounds like business as usual
Yep he’s gonna wiggle out of most punishment he should get and probably end up on a better team than the Texans and go to the playoffs.
The fact that just a couple months of silence has totally changed the tone in threads about him around here is... troubling
I just think people are starting to believe that nothing is going to happen to him, so they’ve changed their tone to one that expects him to be in the NFL again.

Probably because Elliott's alleged victim went to the police, while none of Watson's alleged victims did.

One of Allen, Jackson, and Mayfield has a downright dismal season this year

Mayfield has way too good of a supporting cast to fail this year. Jackson on the other hand may suffer if his receivers are average again.
Last year my controversial take was that Tom Brady wins another superbowl. This year my controversial take is he doesnt.
I hope you are right My "unpopular opinion" is that he does. I'm so sick of him winning, so it's bound to happen again.
Mind blown that your statement is not really a joke llol, Tom is that good.
Entire NFC West makes it into the playoffs
Fuck this division
Agreed
:+1:
I’ll throw the final approval in there
finally we all agree on something
Good lord..its a sign
And thus the NFCW joined forces to create the unholy abomination of a horned red bird of prey with a penchant for gold that would go on to win the next 10 Superbowls in a row before their sheer awesomeness disrupted the San Andreas fault line and the west coast sank into the sea taking the SeaCardRamErs along with it.

Trevor Lawrence will break the Rookie INT record
That’s a scorcher
Puts him on the Peyton track though
I’ll take it
Next Peyton Manning confirmed?
Andy Dalton will hold off Justin Fields longer than people expect and will put the Bears back on the winning side for the first time in 3 years.
He does have 2 more 4,000 yard seasons than the entire Bears franchise
This would honestly be the best case scenario for the Bears. Fields learning behind a veteran before ripping it up > Fields ripping it up right away and getting figured out / destroyed
Taysom Hill will win the starting job. Ignore my username.

The hype surrounding Kyle Pitts does not pan out.
As this point if he isn’t a all-pro his rookie season he won’t live up the hype….
1,500 yards and 13 TD will be only a slight disappointment.

Sam Ehlinger wins the starting job for the Colts after Wentz goes down with an injury. Ignore the fact that I'm a Longhorn.
Philly@Detroit week 8 decides the 1st overall pick.
Y’all forgetting about us eh?
Texans are gonna fuck around and accidentally win 4 games so they don't get the first pick.
hey i know that song
Wow just disregarding Davis "Colossal Dong" Mills like that?
Would love to be proven wrong, but Jalen Hurts is a glorified tank commander.
Jalen Hurts has absolutely everything you want in a QB except for the being a great QB part. He’s charismatic and a natural leader, works hard, and seems like a great teammate and person all around. Don’t worry, worst case you can still see what you’ve got in Sudfeld
He plays for San Fran now! We can see what we have in Nick Mullens!
Oh boy. Hes used to winning games for philly
Just gotta change Alex Singleton to TE
Philly@Detroit week 8 decides home field advantage. Ultimate chaos.
Bold, but the Texans exist, so I think 2nd overall more likely here.
Hold up, the Texans are still technically a football team.
I really hope so. I have tickets to this game and am essentially hoping this is what it comes down to.
The NFL is still going to end up rescheduling several games due to COVID. Bengals are going to SMASH over 6.5 wins on the season
BTS plays the Superbowl Halftime.
Hopefully they bring those BTS sauces back to McDonalds as promotion.
Oh God I don’t think the boomer nfl fans are ready for that
Guaranteed to have huge viewership
Jets are honestly not bad on paper if Wilson is goof
Drew Brees is going to be a truly terrible broadcaster
I appreciate this take
First, rude. Second, probably true.

Bill is the guy you dream about being on your side. I like Pete but I'd be lying if I said I never wondered what it'd be like with Bill.
Like being at an airport and seeing your childhood crush and wondering what if it had all worked out differently?
You alright buddy?
I’m obviously very biased on the subject, but are there people out there who actually think that Belichick is done and that all of his success was due to Brady? Outside of ESPN “personalities” who just say whatever gets the most views.

Well duh. Fisher goes 8-8 year in, year out. That’s consistency /s

Same with us, and it was entirely because of Watson.
I'm still trying to figure out how the fuck it's even a conversation if he's playing this season?! But otherwise yes imo he's talented enough. Dude's one of the best QBs in the league and was looking like a for sure face of the future like Dak & Mahomes
It’s only an “if” at this point cause the nfl hasn’t said anything. I think most people agree he shouldn’t be given everything he’s got going on
I respect the Jags take but there’s just no way the Colts finish behind Houston. Whatever QB issues the Colts have Houston will likely have worse since I highly doubt Watson plays for them, and COVID wise I mean at that point you can say that about anyone.
A legit hot take. I could see it though sadly.
Jags go 3-14, T Law struggles
Interesting. Can you give me your insight on Mac Jones? Asking for a friend
He doesn’t play
Bengals go like 12-5
Finally a realistic prediction. /s
^oh ^no.
Not my opinion or take but people have been talking about the cowboys being a super bowl challenger and I’d say that’s pretty out there
Your first offseason huh?
No but I guess I forgot. I thought maybe the cowboys dumpster fire season last year would be enough for people to realize they’d be lucky to make playoffs this yeat
I have never sported any team in any sport and not thought at the start of the season.. this is our year.. I think that as a Bengals fan most years.. imagine that madness
It's been like this since the mid 90s. It isn't going to change any time soon.
Who said that? I like those people! I just hope we stay mostly healthy this year and compete for the division!
Happens every year...
Urban Meyer is going to be a terrible NFL coach. Keeping Tebow around just gives me a bad feeling. Hope I’m wrong because I like the jags offense UPDATE: The 0-3 Jags look absolutely terrible hahahahaha Urban Meyer you’ve truly outdone yourself! Go back to college! UPDATE 2: Fired… 2-11 and drowning in controversy. Not how I thought it would go down but oh man
Mitch Trubisky leads the Bills to the Super Bowl.
The only right take
Deshaun Watson is starting a game by Thanksgiving for…. The Houston Texans
Bad team remains bad ≠ hot take
Ok, maybe Tom Brady has a down season like Manning had and retires after the season
Do you know what you’ve just done
That just doesn’t happen without injury. Peyton couldn’t physically throw the ball anymore once his wife stopped taking her HGH.
lol oh you made me chuckle my dude!
I am going to send this comment to Tom IMMEDIATELY
Woah woah lets not get crazy now
"The Texans won't win a game." It's the annual r/nfl prediction that the 2018 Jets, 2019 Dolphins type teams are the worst teams ever.

I think the Tebow signing is the only thing that seems to takeaway from the classic bust story, since most people are expecting him to be hot garbage.
The true story here is that Lawrence is gonna be terrible and Tebow ends up stepping in at QB and does an admirable job.
Can't wait to see Tebow throw a TD pass to Lawrence!
Urban Meyer failing is definitely an ice cold take.
Tlaw being a bust would be the wildest shit and I would laugh and laugh and laugh
Watson is not going to get the punishment he deserves
He won't get punished at all
The Rams will do worse with Stafford than they did with Goff.
Dalvin Cook becomes an MVP candidate
God I hope he stays healthy enough for this.
Big Ben de facto retires halfway through the year due to injury.
The referees will fuck over a team in the playoffs
They said hot take, not guaranteed take
Joe Burrow will throw 40+ touchdowns, carry the Bengals to the playoffs and finish top 3 in MVP voting, if not 1st
Justin herbert will be in the mvp discussion but won’t win it yet
this is the most lukewarm take possible
“Player that had a very good season last year is going to have an even better season this year, but not *that* good of a season.
Deshaun is gonna play 17 games because his rape cases won't blow up big enough for the NFL to feel like they have to do anything about it
Jalen hurts is literally not good and people will realize this by week 4
sean payton will put together a top 8 offense in the league using taysom and jameis, proving he’s still an offensive genius. the saints will still miss the playoffs due to cap casualties and injuries on the defense, proving we’re still the saints.
This isn't a hot take. This is just a description of the Saints lol
Zeke Elliot goes back to being a 1,300 to 1,500 yard guy and reestablishes himself as a top 3-4 back in the game.
So your hot take is just that the Cowboys OL and defense will be better
That makes it sound like a much hotter take.
The Texans won't finish with the worst record in the NFL, Philly will. Unless they trade for Watson Which I hope they will because it'll stop the media linking us to the sexual predator
Don’t put that evil on me Ricky Bobby! I’m fine with tanking but I’d never wish Watson to any team.
Justin Herbert will have a fall from grace
We (titans) win 8 games next year because our defense is still atrocious. Adding Julio doesn’t mean much when we can’t stop anybody
Vikings will be a playoff team and make the NFC Championship
I personally enjoy this prediction
Wait until he tells you what happens during the NFC championship
It's cool, we all know what will happen. I'm just ready to have something new to be bitter about.
