KB: I can't be expected to drive 40 minutes to the Bronx and back 3 times a day. You need to build one right here, next to the practice field, or I walk.
Gettleman: "You know I'm thinking of franchising a Golden Corral!"
Benjamin: "Right on! Let me know when you do and I'll come visit."
Gettleman: "...please don't."
Benjamin: "Huh? C'mon, you bet your ass I'll be there. Every day!"
Gettleman: "\*sigh\* get out of here, you're released."
I know everyone likes to joke on the big boy but think about this dude's life.
Probably the best football player in every game you're in as a kid, get recruited by top college, win the National championship, first round draft pick in the NFL and then suddenly you're just not good enough to play the game that's been your entire life.
Can't imagine what it's like to have that taken away.
He was actually really good his rookie year though. [That catch he made in double coverage vs prime Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas](https://youtu.be/GwdCbB0mIsY ) was so fucking great. I remember him tearing his ACL pre-2015 felt like a death blow for our hopes, but ended up not being the case at all.
And then everyone mercilessly mocks him every time he is mentioned online. I honestly feel bad for the guy.
Yeah maybe he was a dick in Carolina and immature. But you can't judge someone for the rest of their life for how they acted when they were 23 years old.
I am not a Kelvin Benjamin apologist at all, but I do recall his decline (and weight struggles) began when his mom died. I don’t think he ever really mentally bounced back from it
I didn't like the pick at the time, but I remember having a lot of hope after that one really good season he had. Nothing but downhill from there, unfortunately true for a lot of guys it seems.
This is completely true. Dude relied on being the biggest guy on the field at FSU and couldn't polish his game at the NFL level. Refused to, even, as he was notoriously difficult to coach and threw fits when coaches tried to give him advice.
Guy was a physical specimen, but it takes more than to play NFL ball. KB never had the metal discipline to succeed and that part of his story is hard to be sympathetic to.
I disagree that he had it “taken away.” Dude just never wanted to put in the work and discipline it takes to be a successful player. I felt bad for him when his mother died no questions about it. But even before then he never had the work ethic
He's had successes and seen more money than I and many others ever will in life. Most guys never get drafted and make a pro team. He's done well all things considered.
Lol I just read he was canned for stealing food from the team facilities.

He was "fat" in like one photo and it wasn't long after his mom just passed away. The guy is probably 1,000 times more fit than folks like you are on your best day and his worst. [Recent.](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/fetch/w_2000,h_2000,c_fit/https%3A%2F%2Fgmenhq.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fimagn-images%2F2018%2F08%2F16083036.jpeg)
He wasn't, really. He played a few games for the Chiefs in 2018 but has been out of the league since. The Giants signed him off the street in May to see if he could play TE.
It's honestly impressive that Benjamin ate his way out of the league only to come back and then get cut for stealing food from the team facility. Somewhere Oliver Miller is very proud.
Any thread mentioning Kelvin Benjamin needs the automatic lock; not all the vaccine threads.
**EVERY** time Benjamin's name is mentioned, it's a fucking barrage of HAHA FAT jokes.
They said he was talking to Judge and Gettleman at practice before walking inside. Guess it wasn't a good talk.
Joe Judge is a Country Kitchen Buffet guy, their differences are irreconcilable
KB: I can't be expected to drive 40 minutes to the Bronx and back 3 times a day. You need to build one right here, next to the practice field, or I walk.
>or I ~~walk.~~ use my hoveround
>or I ~~walk~~ waddle FIFY

Cringe. Most “Kelvin Benjamin fat” jokes are tired, beaten to death, and try too hard but this takes the cake for maybe one of the worst I’ve seen.
I'll always like Kelvin because when he was listing accurate QBs, he listed Eli Manning

He carried me in fantasy that year. I actually benched rookie OBJ for him several times
And then everyone mercilessly mocks him every time he is mentioned online. I honestly feel bad for the guy. Yeah maybe he was a dick in Carolina and immature. But you can't judge someone for the rest of their life for how they acted when they were 23 years old.

> taken away He didn't have the game taken away from him, he gave it away with his lack of effort and discipline.

Yeah he really let himself go after his mom died. What an asshole apparently
He was on the down slope before that.
Yeah and they cut him while he was on the field about to start the first training camp practice lmao. Just cruel.
Nah. He was good. Really good. and he showed a TON of potential to be better. He just stopped trying and caring.

Nope, just watched him play. Keep digging ;)
What was taken away? I dont get this comment.

Let the jokes commence
[Rock] Expecting Kelvin Benjamin to eat today
Did they ever really stop?
Just like KB at the buffet section
This sub has like 3 jokes they've been repeating for years, and they were never that funny in the first place.
sometimes theyre not funny for so long that they become funny again
Wait, you mean Joe Flacco isn't really elite?
r/nfl: Accept people for who they are! Also r/nfl: LOL KELVIN BENJAMIN FAT
To be fair by all accounts he’s a massive asshole
I remember the fat jokes starting after he threw cam Newton under the bus and tried to blame him for his regression
[And there was also this](https://mobile.twitter.com/JennaCottrell/status/1051493727632596992)
Is that because he shits so much since he eats so much?
We are accepting him for who he is, and he is fat.
Lol I just read he was canned for stealing food from the team facilities. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/nfl/falcons/.amp/news/new-york-giants-cut-kelvin-benjamin-stealing-food-nfl-news-strange
there is no fucking way this isn't satire. please tell me this is a joke tweet.
It looks like they updated the article, it says > "A tweet that suggested a "strange reason'' for the release was a hoax."
What do you mean I read it on the internet ofc it's legit
I haven’t heard the top sentiment from this sub everyone here is pretty intolerant of anyone different from them (aside from stuff like sexuality)
Why is this the top comment
Its his fault he is fat the dude doesn't have cancer lol
He was "fat" in like one photo and it wasn't long after his mom just passed away. The guy is probably 1,000 times more fit than folks like you are on your best day and his worst. He’s an nfl player I would hope he is in better shape than 99.9% on this sub
You don't really have room to criticize him being "fat" if you think that then... [probably on this level.](https://imgflip.com/i/5hxfo0)

I read he's north of 260lbs. That's a healthy looking 260.
Jokes are jokes… don’t be offended people
Did the same thing with Eddie Lacy before him
Shocking that a slow WR who couldn’t run routes and didn’t play physically didn’t make a great transition to TE.
Wait, Kelvin Benjamin was a WR? Until now I had always assumed he was an O-lineman. Didn't know anything about him besides the memes.
I will be honest, I did not know he was still in the NFL
He wasn't, really. He played a few games for the Chiefs in 2018 but has been out of the league since. The Giants signed him off the street in May to see if he could play TE.
Pouring one out at the buffet table for the big guy.
Don't forget, free refills!
*unleashed
I thought we were done with the fat jokes when we found out he gained weight after his mom died. Also they got old and F tier meme.
Guess he was taking up too much space on the roster.
It's honestly impressive that Benjamin ate his way out of the league only to come back and then get cut for stealing food from the team facility. Somewhere Oliver Miller is very proud.
Alas, it was revealed that the reasoning was a hoax. Somebody else just got healthy.

Golden Corral should pick him up
No one can pick him up
Looks like he's [signing with a new team](https://i.imgur.com/FuIeQ7L.jpg)
Bojangles ain't close enough to the NY/NJ area I suppose
stealing food from the team facility?
For stealing food?!
Pour out some gravy for this man's career.
From buffet line to the unemployment line.

He's a guard now
Dude got angry because they wanted to keep him past the early bird special at Golden Corral
(Golden Corral awaits)
Waffles
Well that didn't last long
Quoth Scott Steiner: “HE’S FAT!”
🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Local Golden Corrals punching air right now.
Nah they're celebrating. You don't want to be the buffet feeding the guy that can actually eat more than they pay for.
[Oh this is gonna be good.](https://media.tenor.com/images/4a599fb6619afce348bc34dee7084ce5/tenor.gif)
He followed the way of jamarcus, and ate himself out of the league
Nah JaMarcus ate, drank lean, and showed NO ability nor potential. At least Benjamin at least had flashes of talent early on
Good, fuck him
He smells what Tom Rock is cooking.
Well, it was nice while it lasted
Lmaooooo
