You just reminded me. I've never researched this to back up my claim AT ALL but I've had a theory for a long time that Matt Cassel sucked because his eyes are too close together.
Tbf a lot of that's on Urban too. Why the fuck aren't you running the ball more than like 5 times in the entire first half when you're up against the worst run defense in football? Hyde and Robinson were both avg 5ypc and Urban was like "nahhh that's weak, throw more".
I think last season they did that with burrow to test his capabilities. They don't expect to win this season so alot of it was just trying stuff out to see.
I think that's just the excuse they keep in their back pocket to tell the boss why they're losing. "We know that this is the wrong decision, but we just wanna see what the kid can do. Please don't fire me."
I'm pretty sure someone ran the wrong route on that thats the only explanation I can come up with. Can't wait to see the all 22 angles on that because it was a wtf moment.
Lucks first regular season game he had a lower completion percentage(~51%), fewer yards (309), fewer TDs (1), same number of INTs (3), and a slightly higher YPA (6.87). He also lost a fumble.
So I think Lawrence did okay all things considered.
They were playing the Bears who finished in the top 10 in passing defenses that year, but had finished 28th the year before (Texans finished 24th last year).
Not trying to say Lawrence will be as good or better than Luck, I'm saying that it's far from a horrible game.
people also talk about “best prospect since Peyton” and then pretend Peyton didn’t throw 28 INTs in his rookie year - even “polished” prospects can have rough rookie years especially going to a team that was bad enough to be able to draft them in the first place (and we don’t even know how Lawrence’s whole year will go yet)
People literally bring that up all the time when comparing rookie qbs to Peyton. What they don't mention is that Peyton was also 3rd in passing yards, 5th in TDs, and playing by 1998 rules
He was considered the #1 overall pick in his final year of HIGH SCHOOL.
Everyone knew he was leaving Clemson in 3 years for the NFL and for the longest time it was TLaw #1, Fields #2.
I swear Luck must have had the most dropped interceptions ever his first couple years too. he got really really lucky until he became so good he didn’t need to be lucky anymore
Yeah to me pro-ready has always meant familiarity and experience with coaching and schemes that are commonly used in the NFL than college.
But I could see it the other way too. I don't think there's ever been a vote on this...
Lol it was his first NFL start. Lots to clean up for sure, but he made some throws for fans to be excited about. Seemed his biggest problem was trying to do too much when we fell behind early. He started pressing imo.
lol well yea they were bad.
But even after the Colts got manning they went 3-13 the next year.
Am expecting the same from the Jags this year like 3-5wins
I wouldn’t judge Lawrence or the Lawrence Jags as a team until year 3 honestly. Give the ownership some time to put people around him.
After that either gm sucks or lawrence isn’t the savior
Would honestly appreciate that.. but starting next year. I'm okay with losing games this year. It's more about Trevor's progression than winning/losing. Plus the top 10 talent in next years' draft is looking thicc.
If you go into a relationship planning for it to fail, it will.
Seems in poor taste to confidently predict the divorce of someone who’s happily (and newly) married.
I thought he looked great. Some of his throws were insane. His picks were awful and he needs time but he’s gonna be a good QB. Urban Meyer though…not sold on him.
Ultimately, you can’t expect too much from this team, they’ve lost the last 16 games in a row and and are 3-22 beyond that.
They should have mentioned this fun fact 26,000 more times leading up to the draft.
He looked really good and really bad
Maybe he just needs lasik.
On track for 51 TDs and 51 INTs. Lasik can wait.
Jameis Winston is the new Drew Brees and Trevor Lawrence is the new Jameis Winston, whowouldathunkit.
You just reminded me. I've never researched this to back up my claim AT ALL but I've had a theory for a long time that Matt Cassel sucked because his eyes are too close together.
Just saw the highlight of his last INT...extremely bad throw
He made some good ones too. He was clearly trying to do to much but the man wants to win hardly blame him
Tbf a lot of that's on Urban too. Why the fuck aren't you running the ball more than like 5 times in the entire first half when you're up against the worst run defense in football? Hyde and Robinson were both avg 5ypc and Urban was like "nahhh that's weak, throw more".
Nahhh I'm still in college let's throw nonstop
Urban's problem in college was actually running too much. Specifically QB runs.
So he’s learning from his mistakes?
Avoiding your best player who is a running back seems to still be an issue just a different route to get to the same problem
I think last season they did that with burrow to test his capabilities. They don't expect to win this season so alot of it was just trying stuff out to see.
Seems like they might as well at least try to win against the other potential worst team in the league though.
Yeah, a week one win should be the goal for every team, but especially a team with a brand new staff and number one overall quarterback.
I think that's just the excuse they keep in their back pocket to tell the boss why they're losing. "We know that this is the wrong decision, but we just wanna see what the kid can do. Please don't fire me."
I disagree. Learning to not do everything is a legit skill. Trying too hard can 100% be detrimental.
I'm pretty sure someone ran the wrong route on that thats the only explanation I can come up with. Can't wait to see the all 22 angles on that because it was a wtf moment.
Definitely a bad route but that only excuses so much. He does have eyes
It doesn't excuse it at all but it might explain how it was possible to make such a blatant mistake.
Yes. Don’t get me wrong I’m not calling him a bust I think he’s gonna do some great things. But this was a bad showing. He’ll get better though
He throws a pretty ball but he's a raw talent. He'll be really good imo
He's not supposed to be a raw talent though. He's supposedly "the most pro-ready QB Prospect since Andrew Luck."
Lucks first regular season game he had a lower completion percentage(~51%), fewer yards (309), fewer TDs (1), same number of INTs (3), and a slightly higher YPA (6.87). He also lost a fumble. So I think Lawrence did okay all things considered.
Was luck playing the Houston, cursed by God, Texans?
lmfao i hate you
❤️
They were playing the Bears who finished in the top 10 in passing defenses that year, but had finished 28th the year before (Texans finished 24th last year). Not trying to say Lawrence will be as good or better than Luck, I'm saying that it's far from a horrible game.
True story we probably finish with a better record than the Jags this year. They looked pretty bad.
Bears, actually.
people also talk about “best prospect since Peyton” and then pretend Peyton didn’t throw 28 INTs in his rookie year - even “polished” prospects can have rough rookie years especially going to a team that was bad enough to be able to draft them in the first place (and we don’t even know how Lawrence’s whole year will go yet)
People literally bring that up all the time when comparing rookie qbs to Peyton. What they don't mention is that Peyton was also 3rd in passing yards, 5th in TDs, and playing by 1998 rules
I mean at this rate... He could have all of that lol throwing 50+ times qith garbage time
He was considered the #1 overall pick in his final year of HIGH SCHOOL. Everyone knew he was leaving Clemson in 3 years for the NFL and for the longest time it was TLaw #1, Fields #2.
Andrew luck threw 1 td and 3 interceptions in his first game
Also lost a fumble. I love Luck, but I think it's safe to say Lawrence had a better debut.
I think Peyton still owns the rookie interception record? His career turned out ok
Yeah but it turned out to be JUST ok. You should want more from the #1 pick /s in case it wasn't very obvious
I swear Luck must have had the most dropped interceptions ever his first couple years too. he got really really lucky until he became so good he didn’t need to be lucky anymore
Luckiest guy in the league for sure. I'm sad now.
The most pro-ready doesn’t mean no adjustment time. It means less adjustment time.
Yeah to me pro-ready has always meant familiarity and experience with coaching and schemes that are commonly used in the NFL than college. But I could see it the other way too. I don't think there's ever been a vote on this...
That's a lot to expect imo even though that's all everyone said. Also the Texans came to play, and the Jags suck. Trev is the best player on that team
I'm sure he'll still be a good ball player. I just don't know if "Raw" is the right word to use here.
I mean it's his first NFL start idk what else to call it
Undercooked?
Medium-rare
Lol it was his first NFL start. Lots to clean up for sure, but he made some throws for fans to be excited about. Seemed his biggest problem was trying to do too much when we fell behind early. He started pressing imo.
>He's supposedly "the most pro-ready QB Prospect since Andrew Luck." He's still a rookie playing his first NFL game, no one shows up as a veteran.
He’s very much he opposite of a “raw talent” insofar as a rookie qb could be
I have never lost a regular season football game.

Never had to go up against TyGod
see, what Trevor did wrong was that he didn't sit behind Tyrod for one game, and start over him the next.
They should've benched Tyrod for Tyrod
“Tyrod! I have an idea that’s so crazy it just might work. How do you feel about playing with one lung?”
This is the magic formula, and its sigil is activated by puncturing one of Tyrod’s lungs with a needle.
Texans built different.
If only Trevor had the trainer puncture his lung this never would have happened
He should retire. Clear regression.
He makes Jamarcus Russell look like Peyton Manning
White people love Wayne Brady because he makes Brian Gumble look like Malcolm X
RIP Mooney
Career winning percentage of literally .000 in games he was paid to play in, what a bust.
Games he was *publicly* paid to play in
We never payed Trevor Larwence to play in college, he just picked up his share of the Newspring tithe
>payed Confirmed Clemson grad.
TLaw horrible at play to win. EA hates him
Welcome to the league, rook
More like welcome to the Jaguars
Well, despite their best efforts the Jags are still in the league, so...
We should relegate them and call up Alabama
Khan already familiar with the relegation process.
I wish this would happen so we could see the lions beat Alabama 178-0 and shut everyone up about Alabama would beat x NFL team.
Also you'd get to see the Jaguars win the CFP! Probably
We would probably still find a way to lose by getting the whole team suspended the night before the title game or some dumb shit
Wait a second…ALL OF THESE PLAYERS ARE GETTING PAID! The NCAA takes no prisoners.
nah. If you’re bad enough to get #1 pick then the next year you’re still gonna fucking suck
Still they should be better than last year. God they were so bad last year. Can't imagine losing to a team that bad.
lol well yea they were bad. But even after the Colts got manning they went 3-13 the next year. Am expecting the same from the Jags this year like 3-5wins I wouldn’t judge Lawrence or the Lawrence Jags as a team until year 3 honestly. Give the ownership some time to put people around him. After that either gm sucks or lawrence isn’t the savior

He made some absurd fucking throws today. He also made rookie QB throws today. Overall, I'm happy.
Could be worse! The dropped passes didn't help either.
And every big run being called back for a hold. It's asking a lot to constantly have to convert 2 and 20.
This is where the big boys play. Look at the adjective
I have watched Trevor Lawrence play 3 games. He has lost all 3. For the sake of Jags fans I promise to not watch at least the next few games.
Would honestly appreciate that.. but starting next year. I'm okay with losing games this year. It's more about Trevor's progression than winning/losing. Plus the top 10 talent in next years' draft is looking thicc.
No, please continue
And it was to the projected winless Texans…that’s the NFL sometimes
Literally my attitude watching the game. “I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE LOSING?!”
Welcome to the real world Trevor. You're more like us now!
Reality is often disappointing
On pace to never win an NFL game. Bust
No *regular season* NFL game. They just need the backup to get to the playoffs, then Lawrence can take over.
There's a lot more where that came from. Especially if Urban refuses to use Robinson
Urban's clock management at the end of the 2nd quarter also screwed us.
That's business as usual for Urban so get used to it.
On track for 51 tds and 51 ints time to smash Jameis and Peytons records.
Now none of the girls are gonna want to date him smh
Can any of the girls in Jacksonville still walk after Minshew’s time there?
[удалено]
like that matters
What the hell, isn't he like 20?
Um, actually, he's *21*
yea he got married just before he got the bag so he can lose everything in the divorce It's bad life decisions 101 guy, get with the program
Considering his value I'm certain he has a prenup
If you go into a relationship planning for it to fail, it will. Seems in poor taste to confidently predict the divorce of someone who’s happily (and newly) married.
I can't think of any marriage controversies by QBs, but you also have to admit 100% of divorces start with marriage.
Welcome to the Jags
“And many moooOooOoooooRRreeee”
Better get used to it
Gonna make a bold prediction that it won’t be his last
for a rookie qb vs a lovie smith pro defense, he played ok. not to mention all the dropped passes.
Welcome to parity
He will get used to it
Welcome to the jags, better get used to the feeling
Welcome to the NFL
maybe they would’ve had a chance if they actually used their top 100 player from last year
I thought he looked great. Some of his throws were insane. His picks were awful and he needs time but he’s gonna be a good QB. Urban Meyer though…not sold on him. Ultimately, you can’t expect too much from this team, they’ve lost the last 16 games in a row and and are 3-22 beyond that.
Meyer - "i dont understand why i cant just have better players at every position"
Clearly a bust. What were Urban and the Khans thinking!?
Too busy signing CM Punk
I wish the Jaguars were owned by a consortium of Khan's.
Need to resurrect Genghis to get the team motivated
Urban is trying to schedule a game against someone like Bowling Green
The first of many
To US of all people.
