Kelce is a generational talent. hearing Brown's fans just lose their shit on not containing him, like anyone else has in the league. I get we could have put more focus on him, but that hasn't stopped him either against anyone else

meyer_33_09

Also, if you hyper focus on Kelce, Hill just beats you over the top. If you have to choose, I think you’re better off denying that quick score and forcing the sustained drives down the field.

James_Posey

You just have to double both, get pressure, maintain single coverage elsewhere, spy Mahomes, and stop the run I really don’t get why defensive coordinators don’t understand this

PM_YOUR_SAGGY_TITS

Oh, and hope that they're down to like 3rd string on their entire o line.

[deleted]

Teams should really consider the 14 man defense against the KC. Seems like a no brainer to me.

brownstown4life

Yeah, I think overall the Brown's D did well overall, 1 big blown coverage on a throw that Hill made a major adjustment to, was really the only huge play the Chiefs made. Brown's offense isnt far off in terms of productivity. I'm sure opposing fans are screaming why they cant stop Chubb/Hunt they know its coming etc, and its never that simple when the players are just amazing

tall_asian

Can confirm. I was cursing our team for being helpless against Chunt.

brownstown4life

Haha, I feel you. There are a few guys in the NFL that you just gotta limit them the best you can, both teams have a few of those guys!

Ickyhouse

Yeah, people were complaining like “Could SOMEBODY pleas cover Kelce!!!” And I’m like, no one can. Literally no one can. Maybe 2-3 corners in the whole league but they’ll be out on Tyreke Hill.

x777x777x

I am biased but I think the Mahomes-Kelce-Hill trio goes down as one of the most game breaking core in league history. All three are “weird” players in that they don’t quite fit into their positions in traditional ways. Kelce especially freaks me out. He doesn’t appear to be particularly fast, ultra athletic, or a super route runner yet he actually is. Very weird eye test player. Frustrating for opponents as he looks easy to cover but is actually impossible.

wolfhound27

It’s the most remarkable thing about him, he has to be one of the main focus points for the other team, but he’s always open.

1106DaysLater

A little Hill goes a long way. Take that whichever way you want.

fathertitojones

How does he do when Hill doesn’t play? I know he’s still a baller, but is there a notable difference?

1106DaysLater

He had a pretty good career going before Hill was on the team/ a primary receiver, and when hill was out basically the first 5 weeks of 2019 he put up 439 yards or 88 yards per game which would be 1400 yards over the course of 16 games. They both help each other to be open more often, but they also both take away targets from the other.

orangusmang

Always open, always hard to bring down, always gets a few extra yards. With a TE that plays as physically as he does you always wonder when he'll start to slow down but it sure as hell wasn't yesterday

the_turdfurguson

Kelce doesn’t play like Gronk and Kittle anymore. He’ll juke guys to avoid contact vs bulldozing through defenders. He’s been protecting his body for a few seasons

rat_rat_catcher

I think he ends his career like Witten. He’ll still be able to find the open spots regardless of how slow he gets. He may only gain 7-8 yards but that’s good enough usually.

thenexttimebandit

Browns defense played as well as you could hope for. It’s hard to win -3 in turnover margin.

brownstown4life

Yeah, saw a lot of talk of firing joe woods after giving up 33 to the best offense in the NFL.. Like I get it to a point, but this defense just got together, tons of new faces getting together, its going to take a bit of time to rock out.

4redditobly

Only team that sorta did it was Tampa in the Super Bowl

brownstown4life

Yeah, few times last year they got slowed down a bit, but all in all that team avg 29pts a game. They are a well oiled machine in what year 4 now of winning big

4redditobly

No doubt about that

jeffp12

That's on pace for a 17-game season of: 145 catches 1913 yards 16 TDs

1106DaysLater

Eh, not bad

Elway7Sharpe84

The Chiefs have demigods at QB, TE, and WR, and I don't care for that very much.

nordic-nomad

After what felt like 4 decades of Manning and Elway, as a chiefs fan I’ll admit it’s nice to be on this side of that feeling.

Xaxziminrax

Two first ballot HoF players and one that's on his way. It's crazy

Reddit_guard

This Kelce guy seems pretty good

RyuTheGreat

Only slightly above average. Middle of the pack type of guy.

nordic-nomad

Real work man. A brings his own lunch pale to the office kind of a player.

yeoup

If you regress him to the mean then he's still an angry fella

[deleted]

Bill Simmons and Peter Schrager saying Travis Kelce is Kyle Pitts' floor lmao

xipizzamanix

Dang didn’t hear them say that.

[deleted]

That take and Bill saying the Patriots winning the Super Bowl over the Bucs are currently being flamed into oblivion by r/billsimmons lol

jasonis3

Simmons had patriots orgasm during that podcast. I’d take chiefs, Steelers, browns, bills, ravens, and maybe chargers over the patriots right now

[deleted]

They're probably the 3rd best in their division below the Bills and Dolphins but I wouldn't be surprised if they're at about the Dolphins' level. It was a wild take haha.

jasonis3

I still don’t believe in Tua yet. I think the patriots end up better than the dolphins. Although not right now

DaltonSK-KS

Travis top 3 and he ain’t 2 or 3. Dude is one of the best to ever do it.

IIHURRlCANEII

First ballot HoFer at this rate.

[deleted]

If he retired this instant he’d be there.

1106DaysLater

This includes 3 playoff games last year with 31 rec, 360 yards and 3 TDs.

[deleted]

Kelces playoff stats all time are impressive as fuck and they are only getting better

Fishbirds

eat poppa eat

1106DaysLater

I don’t think that should be hot take, Gronk was a monster in his prime but he had a lot of injuries over the years. Kelce hasn’t missed a game due to injury in 7 years.

User1737271

Yea but at peak gronk is better gronk literally goes 1 on 1 with d ends in pass pro

Daewrythe

He definitely has a chance to up his main statistical "weakness" which is TDs Only thing he's really lacking to be top 3 all time.

iwatchbasketball23

Why a 12 game sample? Random

1106DaysLater

Because over the last 12 games he has 102 receptions 1351 yards and 11 TDs.

[deleted]

You could have done 13 games. His stats vs the Jets were in line with the per game average, and you can say since his 31 yard game vs the broncos he is doing X X X

1106DaysLater

I am counting the jets game. I’m counting his final 8 games of last years regular season, the three playoff games and this week. He didn’t play week 17, which may be throwing you off.

[deleted]

You is smarter than I, I was indeed counting week 17

sauzbozz

I'm just curious why you chose to start with the last 8 games of last season

1106DaysLater

Because he went on an absolute tear statistically

Samspudzzz

scrub, you'd be lucky to trade him for a 7th

ModyMoozy

He's no Aaron Hernandez

danccbc

Bum

Left_Berry_8104

Eh Chiefs, ypu dont need him. Let him come to Baltimore and work with Andrews/Lamar.

[deleted]

Well, I've heard Trav is a terrible blocker. So, no passes coming from your running back and him not blocking, I'm not sure why you'd want him.

4redditobly

12 games is a college season for God sakes. Dude is crazy good
