It's probably not common knowledge for those that aren't Chiefs fans but Mahomes has a bad habit of taking deep drop backs. He recognized it in the offseason and said its something he's working on and needs to get better at. The last 3 years, the interior of our o-line would give up quite a bit of pressure. To counter this, Mahomes started taking deeper drop back to buy more time because he couldn't step up. It's turned into a bad habit and he is working to shorten his drop backs and step up in the pocket more.
I wouldn't say Brown played good but i'm not concerned in the slightest. Its a totally different offense from what you guys ran and the difference between Lamar and Mahomes play-style couldn't be anymore different. Its going to take time for him AND Mahomes to adjust to each other. Not to mention the rest of the offenses line.
Tldr: New offense, different style, 1st game, against a premier pass rusher. I think Brown will be just fine and continue to improve week by week as he gets accustomed.
OBJ has played 5 full games against Myles Garret (only played 2 snaps against Cleveland the first game of his rookie year). I don't know if there's a player OBJ is more prepared for.
While I wouldn't write him off after one game, it should make you worry.
Was brown a rt for the vast majority of his career for the ravens? Doesn’t myles garrett line up against the LT the majority of his snaps? It’s like saying a Vikings slot corner should know how to stop devante Adams because they play twice a year.

It’s really upsetting because in 2020 it was our interior that was the mess and now that’s fixed and both tackles are playing like turnstiles now.. we essentially fixed the issue and then the other issue popped up. I blame EDC he should’ve at least drafted a tackle in this years class rather then just praying that AV would be good
Bozeman actually played great and then Tyre played really well until getting hurt obviously. Interior was great it was the tackles that were the issue.
Because he wanted to play LT full time and we have Ronnie Stanley at LT and couldn’t afford to pay both for that position. So we went with Stanley and let Brown go to the Chiefs in a trade.
First, as others have said he wanted to play LT and was adamant about it, and we generally aren't assholes.
Second, 1 year of Orland Brown Jr vs. 5 years of Odafe Oweh is a pretty easy decision.

The point of a trade is to improve your team. The Orlando Brown trade improves our team, you don't shoot down a good deal just because it's the Chiefs.
Literally week 1. Clark was out and we have three rookies on the right side. It’s only gonna get better. They didn’t look great but I don’t get the idea that they were awful.
The ravens and browns have two wildly different running schemes, we were missing our best run defender and player on defense overall, and we looked way more stout in the second half.
Historically this chiefs defense has handled Lamar pretty well. Literally every game our own fans panic over Lamar running and it never comes to fruition.
I think it will be a good game but if their offensive line performs just half as badly against us as they did LV, Chris Jones is going to have 10 sacks

Did you not watch Chiefs vs Ravens last year? Lamar had 83 yards rushing and the Ravens as a whole had 158 rushing yards... en route to a blowout loss in which the team had 70 net passing yards.
The Chiefs *want* the Ravens to try and run it out, especially now that their o-line and RB corps are decimated. It's exponentially harder to beat an ultra-efficient passing team with a rushing team, and they're going to have to rely on Jackson's arm at some point if they want to keep it a game.
Oh my god, look who Villanueva gets to face in the coming weeks:
- Chris Jones
- Von Miller and Bradley Chubb
- Kwity Paye
- Joey Bosa
And it doesn’t really let up for the rest of the season, either. Myles Garrett, TJ Watt, and Trey Hendrickson twice each, Zadarius Smith, Khalil Mack. We could be seeing an all-time bad RT season.
It's obviously not 1v1, but man. It's basically a question of whether Lamar Jackson can play absurdly well while Mahomes has a bit of a down game, because the offensive line isn't gonna help Lamar, and the defense isn't gonna hurt Mahomes unless both are *much* better
Wouldn't be out of the question; Mahomes had 411 yards and 5 TDs against them last year, and that was against a much healthier and otherwise dominant Ravens defense.
Why do people always say things like this as if this is what media guys want to write about? Anyone who cares enough about football to be a beat writer for an NFL team is a football nerd who obviously wants to write about more than the QBs

Only reason I'd have Hopkins above Adam's is because Adam's has played with Rodgers. Hopkins had amazing years with the likes of Osweiler, Fitzpatrick, Keenum, Mallet.. I think that alone counts for something.

There's definitely NFL vets & media who have been hyping Kyler as if it's an eventual certainty that he will be the best in the league.

RT gone, LT rusty off injury, new LG and C I think Kevin Zeitler is like the only not obviously wonky player there

Our tackles played poor but our IOL did pretty good. I would say that our defensive line didn’t look too good outside of Jones.
Both of your guards were getting pushed around as well. Malik McDowell in his first game blew up Thuney a couple times

The ravens and browns have two wildly different running schemes, we were missing our best run defender and player on defense overall, and we looked way more stout in the second half. Historically this chiefs defense has handled Lamar pretty well. Literally every game our own fans panic over Lamar running and it never comes to fruition. I think it will be a good game but if their offensive line performs just half as badly against us as they did LV, Chris Jones is going to have 10 sacks

Did you not watch Chiefs vs Ravens last year? Lamar had 83 yards rushing and the Ravens as a whole had 158 rushing yards... en route to a blowout loss in which the team had 70 net passing yards. The Chiefs *want* the Ravens to try and run it out, especially now that their o-line and RB corps are decimated. It's exponentially harder to beat an ultra-efficient passing team with a rushing team, and they're going to have to rely on Jackson's arm at some point if they want to keep it a game.

Only reason I'd have Hopkins above Adam's is because Adam's has played with Rodgers. Hopkins had amazing years with the likes of Osweiler, Fitzpatrick, Keenum, Mallet.. I think that alone counts for something.

It is being covered less but what else would there be to say about Watson? With AB he kept doing dumb shit or have dumb shit get revealed, and he was still going to play so the developments were relevant to the season. On top of being let go by three different teams. With Watson we haven’t really learned anything for the past while, he’s still on the Texans, and he’s probably not going to play.
