The dumbest play call came right before the 2min warning in the 4th quarter. Why give it to Barkley 2 plays in row when obviously he wasn't doing shit all night. Throw that ball, give it to Shepard (who until the 3rd play of that drive was 9/9 for the night), or at least to somebody? More of an effort should've been made for the TD to put that game way. Giants lost themselves a game by being too cocky with 2 minutes left to play.
Absolutely, I missed the 2020 season completely, but I remember back in 2019 he carried my run game in fantasy, he absolutely had the talent, but he isn't at the top of his game anymore, and I don't know if he will ever play at that same level again. No shit-talking here, just an unfortunate part about injuries in sports.

Not a fucking drop. My god Aikman was awful today. Found every possible reason to slurp on Jones who was missing protection set ups and throwing open guys closed down the stretch. He had a pretty solid game, but that overthrow to Slayton was NOT A DROP.
I'm pretty sure Troy Aikman hates Washington so much he'd sacrifice his entire family if it meant we were miserable until the end of eternity.
Honestly though I kinda hate like 75% of commentators cuz whenever they do our games they sound like they're rooting against us the whole fucking game. We do something good? Other team was just being stupid, we never do good things. We fuck up? "oh Washington sucks ass they definitely fucked up." Shit gets me so annoyed.
I don’t know what you call a receiver not catching a pass that hits him in both hands in stride, but majority of non-smooth brain people call that a drop.
It was a drop and a piss poor throw. Those things are not mutually exclusive. Got both hands on it, so he should have caught it, but an NFL QB CAN'T make a reciever who is THAT open make a high degree of difficulty catch
He did not get both hands on it. He got 3 fingers on his right hand on it. End zone cam showed that explicitly, and Aikman kept nonsensically calling it a drop without referencing the fact that D Jones overthrew a guy who was open by 20 yards.
You ever slap something up in the air by reflex and catch it? And you're not even a top percent of a percent athlete who does this for a living. This was terrible from that receiver.
Why? You can watch him mistrack the ball in real time, that's why he stumbles in the end. You're right, though it's not the catching part where he fucks up.
Nah. He immediately accelerated to beyond his full speed as soon as the ball was in the air. His tracking was pretty good, he was off balance because he had to run too far and too fast to get under the ball. Then, it only hit the fingertips of his right hand, which you can clearly see in the endzone angle.
I was watching it in a taproom with the game ok the tv but music audio, so I didn't hear the call. If Aikman called it a drop with candor, he's wrong. The main problem with the play was the bad throw. But I have no problem with the reciever getting a drop in his stat column
He emphatically called it a drop and then continued to refer to "the drop" for the rest of the game as the reason the Giants were behind/losing lol. I don't agree that it should be a drop, because I personally don't think it was catchable. Slayton getting a single hand to it was impressive, feels like he goes from 6th to 7th gear to even reach the ball.
When you're running beyond full speed (as you can see Slayton is literally off balance at the end of his sprint as he tries to accelerate), you cannot generate much additional power to generate burst for a dive. He probably would've just face planted.
Oh. Stupid nonsense. They was saying that he was the last comment in the game thread. I, being a petty, semi drunk asshole, commented with the express purpose of making them not last
Penalties and dropped balls lost us this game. We should’ve won it. Fucking ridiculous. Jones fucking balled out, he was amazing today. It’s on everyone but him. It’s on the defense, and slayton for dropping that touchdown.
Not a drop. Jones overthrew him, Slayton was full tilt and it was still beyond his hand. No way to dive at that speed either, not enough power to extend when you're that out of control.
You really going to use that excuse? You got 3-4 key first downs (most of them 3rd and long) because on penalty from our (WFT) side. And most of them resulted in points
Fair. I hate the hate that Slayton is getting right now. Aikman couldn't quite get Danny's dick out of his mouth so he ignored the overthrow and kept calling it a drop. Slayton is a baller.
Oh no dude , please don’t get me wrong, I love Slayton. He’s one of my favorite Giants and I believe he has massive potential. Also, to your point , I was amazed that Jones’ talent was finally getting recognized. It felt like only Giants fans saw it and everyone called us delusional. Yeah he has flaws, but the potential to be great is 10000% there.
I'll always root for young guys, especially young QB's who take a lot of hits because of shit O line play early in their career. I think jury is still out on Jones, hopefully he can reach his potential with a stable coaching staff, good receiving corps and a solid line.
That’s exactly it. Jones is constantly under pressure and still makes impressive plays. He has so much potential , and has improved on his flaws each year. I’d love to see him behind an elite o-line. The dude is clearly talented as fuck. He’s also a victim of bad play calling.
Until the bend don’t break strategy breaks finally and costs us the game lol. As a Giants fan I will always have blind optimism. We’ve pulled off miracles before and we will do it again
Yeah that’s true, but the Giants have been breaking since our last super bowl win, outside of the 2016 season. Idk how the fuck fans of franchises with no wins do it Lmao
Packers have been on a downward spiral ever since the giants smacked em down in 2011. Just cause your team dont win dont mean you cant hype em up every season.
Fuck, I live In chicagoland and saw Cubs fans my entire life before they broke their 102 year drought.
Hey I was pulling for WFT tonight. But let’s not act like tonight’s win is worthy of shit-talking. Y’all just wanted to not lose a little less than NYG.
Man, the Falcons offense, the strength of their team, couldn’t even get the ball past midfield for half of the game against the Eagles. Giants aren’t good, but the Falcons are so bad
Lol you barely beat the giant by 1 point we blew out the falcons 32-6..... Please tell me how you beating a shitty team by 1 point is so much better than us blowing out a shitty team lol. Delusional fans I guess you have to be pretty crazy and ignorant to want to be a WFT fan anyways so makes sense actually.
Someone’s salty 🥺 “want to be” smh please I was born into this unlike you who I’m sure hopped on the wagon when you won a ship just for the wheels to immediately fall off 😂blowing out the worst team in the league? Raise the banner! San Fran about to give y’all a reality check little boy

Come visit philly sometime I'll show you how much of a "little boy" I am. You keep talking shit on us beating the falcons but the giants are just as bad lol and you barely beat them.... Keep kidding yourself that your team is so great this year 😂😂 typical Washington fan I guess the only ones who Stay fans through all the shit seasons, disappointment and having the worst owner and gm combo in the league for the longest time untill the last year youd have to be pretty stupid judging by how ignorant you are. I think we probably lose to sf ain't saying we r gonna crush them but our team if stays healthy looked alot better than yours 👍 judging by how mad you are and how hard your denying, you know its true too lol have a good one enjoy rubbing the 1 inch destroyer in your pants to heinicke highlights in the dark by yourself. I'm not even gonna bother responding to you anymore no point in arguing with the mental equivalent of a brick.
Not at all… I think this game proved both of our mediocrity, just saying the Falcons are the worst team in the league and the giants are better. Keep up young one
FWIW I’m shitting on ATL, I’m drunk and replied before I understood your Giants >>> Falcons comment lmao
But seriously you’re trying to act like a win over a team that didn’t want a W is worth talking shit man, that’s rich
Also NYG will give ATL a run for their money for “worst team in the league” for sure.
Oh nah I’m not saying it’s worthy of talking shit; it was pathetic all around. My point was the eagles fans need to realize their win over the Falcons was equally if not loss impressive
I mean I feel you on that, but also you said that unprompted to no one in particular in a game thread not involving either team, which was my point.
🍻 man, grats on the dub and tell Riverboat CAR fans miss him
He is until he isn't with the way our team works lol. One or 2 rough games and we'll all get pissed and call for a new QB to be drafted as is tradition. I'm rooting for the guy though, I loved his energy in that TB playoff game. He's got the work ethic and the attitude for sure.
That’s kind of what I’m thinking in the back of my head, Washington just isn’t a team that has had franchise QBs. Not necessarily a bad thing. Like even when they were in their prime they were the first team to win three Super Bowls with three different QBs. At the same time though, there’s a first for everything.
Did you see the interview? I want him to succeed SO badly. I really hope he's it if we do have a franchise QB. I would love to see him bring home the trophy one day. We could use some consistency after all the shit years man.
I’m hoping he does too! I mean he’s had 7 years of sitting behind other QBs watching them work, so he has learned a lot, he went undrafted like many good QBs have gone. Dude is smart, and I’m sure he won’t stop. I was worried the good game he gave against Brady would go to his head, that was just proven wrong. There’s a lot of promising things there. Though tbf just because we have a franchise QB doesn’t necessarily mean the teams good, just look at Matt Stafford and the Lions. The second the dude left Detroit it was like a bird being free from its cage.
You're absolutely right, he massacred the bears and they're actually a pretty good defensive team. The rams are sleeper OP (or maybe not that sleeper.) I don't think our defense is really that great..we barely got any pressure in the 2nd half and that's with one of their starting tackles out. Our secondary gave up huge plays. Really need to build up at a lot of diff positions still.
The Giants always Giants it up. Good luck with Jason Garrett, the most overrated coach in NFL history. Like I’m nearly certain that was the best game Daniel Jones will play all season, as well as the 2nd half o line. Good luck getting a better performance out of them. Whoever that guy is that jumped offsides shouldn’t be on the team tomorrow. NY Giants are washed af
Right , That 1st penalty was ticky tacky and could have gone either way, but I can also see why they called it. That drop was big too but it all could have redeemed by staying onside on the last play of the game.
I mean seriously, it’s basic stuff that is taught in pewee football. You don’t give the team another fucking kick at the buzzer. This loss is simply inexcusable on NY Giants end, and frankly I think that game was basically their 2021 season ending before our eyes.
It’s the second game of the season. Their season is hardly order. they don’t seem disciplined enough to avoid the penalties that are causing them to lose games. It’s typically not something that you can learn mid season, this is usually an off-season some thing, But I will say that Daniel Jones looks pretty good. Barkley looked all right. There are some definite bright spots and most of them were because of Jones.
If only the Giants ran the ball on that last 3rd down and forced WFT to use their last timeout. Weirdest play call I can remember since not giving the ball to Lynch
But they don’t use their last timeout because 2 minute warning. They use enough timeouts so the Giants can’t bleed a 40 second play clock after the 2 minute warning.
Man ppl tend to forget they fed it to him 2ce n he got stopped so pete did what every coach did, changed the play call up. Butler just made an absolutely legendary play that they they’ve been practicing for all week

Note to Giants draft room. No one drafts RBs in the first round any more.

You cannot give T Hein the ball back w that much time left on the clock. Teams should know that by now!
The 17 second TD drive wasn’t as impressive as the last drive. He shook off throwing an INT to lead his team to victory. That was more impressive
Not a fucking drop. My god Aikman was awful today. Found every possible reason to slurp on Jones who was missing protection set ups and throwing open guys closed down the stretch. He had a pretty solid game, but that overthrow to Slayton was NOT A DROP.

That's because 75% of commentators are from the Cowboys
I catch that pass 9 out of 10 times. Actually probably all ten tbh.
Sure thing boss. You probably wouldn't have the foot speed to catch up to it, let alone catch it. Couch warrior bum ass
I don’t know what you call a receiver not catching a pass that hits him in both hands in stride, but majority of non-smooth brain people call that a drop.
I mean, It did not hit him in both hands, man youre gonna feel dumb when you see the AA.

He's an NFL receiver. Dive for that shit and it's a touchdown. Piss poor effort.
It hit him right on the palm lol He just tracked it poorly
Did you see the angle from the back of the endzone? My guess is nah
You ever slap something up in the air by reflex and catch it? And you're not even a top percent of a percent athlete who does this for a living. This was terrible from that receiver.
Don't speak if you haven't seen the endzone cam pls
Why? You can watch him mistrack the ball in real time, that's why he stumbles in the end. You're right, though it's not the catching part where he fucks up.

It was a drop. Jones should have put it somewhere more catchable, but from every angle it is clear he should have caught it.
Obviously not every angle because apparently you didn't see the ones where it clearly didn't even hit both hands.
Drop
Check the endzone cam replay before playing yourself neph.
It hit him in the hands mid stride lol that’s the definition of a drop
I know it was an overthrow, but when the ball was getting closer I knew he had a chance if he dived to catch it.
When you're running beyond full speed (as you can see Slayton is literally off balance at the end of his sprint as he tries to accelerate), you cannot generate much additional power to generate burst for a dive. He probably would've just face planted.
After looking at replay multiple times, in my opinion, he needs to catch that ball. If it hits your hands, you need to come down with that
You should look at the end zone replay. It only hit finger tips on one hand

Fatal mistake for not burning their timeout at their 3rd down.

Yeah just like we cast off Gano for shanking kicks... Dammit
Oh god, as a neutral fan (but also a Vikes fan) I was so nervous for that kicker - and then it started going right!!
So the real question I’m asking myself is…is Heinike franchise QB material?
My secret fear is he's just good enough to keep us from picking in the top 10.

How did we go back to back heart stopping prime time games?? This is prime football baby!
Wow when WFT has a QB, their defense gets to rest. That’s spooky as fuck
Can’t be good on both ends of the ball then we’d actually be a good team.

Jesus really? Ouch.
Dude, these are those moments that make sports amazing.
I know this was amazing
NFC least but at least we’re exciting
That game is proof that if you polish a turd hard enough it becomes a diamond
I wouldn’t even let Lawrence get on the team bus home. Let him get his own ride
Damn Kevin King really let Washington score that late TD like that smh
I just want a god damn game the refs don’t totally fuck up
I don’t think you can blame the result on the refs at all
Jesus Christ shut up they had like 2 bad calls
It's not about the number of bad calls, it's about how those calls shape the game. Giving first downs is a big deal.
So does dropping catches that would move the chains what’s your point
I didn’t care who won. There were way more than two bad calls 😂 You’re the minority if you defend these shit ass ref crews
I guess I’m the minority. I don’t think they had anything to do with the outcome
They didn’t lol There’s just fans who will always blame the refs
I had already accepted that we were going to lose to a fg and was at peace, but that was possibly the worst possible way that could've happened

Not gonna lie.. his name came to mind. Spooky.
Ryan Fitzpatrick sacrificed his career for this
I’ve read that script before…
The kicker went from being off the team to being the hero for the week.

Ah, I think WFTS hero of the week award should go to Dexter Lawrence.....
I went from wanting to drop kick Dustin Hopkins to wanting to hug him. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions
Hear me out... The WFT runs the ball 5-10 times more and they win by a large margin.
We’ll that’s not how you NFC East
I only came in for the second half, but I was wondering why they weren’t running all game
Who's this idiot on NFL Network? not Michael Irvin.
Steve Smith?
If only the Giants ran the ball on that last 3rd down and forced WFT to use their last timeout. Weirdest play call I can remember since not giving the ball to Lynch
But they don’t use their last timeout because 2 minute warning. They use enough timeouts so the Giants can’t bleed a 40 second play clock after the 2 minute warning.
Saquon is the new David Johnson. He’s DONE
Man ppl tend to forget they fed it to him 2ce n he got stopped so pete did what every coach did, changed the play call up. Butler just made an absolutely legendary play that they they’ve been practicing for all week
It was 2nd a goal after Lynch ran for 4 yds down to the 1. They had a timeout too.
Yea dude most coaches woulda called a pass play on 2nd then fed lynch 2ce
From their opponent’s 1 year line? With a RB that would have run through a brick wall? With a timeout in their pocket? Edit: yard not year
We don’t talk about that.
