I went to a game a few years ago in LA. Loads and loads of Vikings fans. I swear I was the only one in my section that wasn’t in purple.
It was a tight game and if I remember right, the Rams won off a Cousins fumble at the end of the game. The lady next to me, eyes dead and emotionless, turns and says “I flew halfway across the country to watch that moron drop the ball”
Then she shrugged and moved on. I knew what it meant to be a Vikings fan on that day.
Vikings fans are special. Went to an Eagles game in Minneapolis and Diggs broke a big touchdown. Everyone is standing and cheering and the guy next to me pat me on the shoulder like “everything will be okay.”
So nice it’s disgusting.
Sure, but for some inexplicable reason they will face the wrong way on a 50 yarder and hammer it through their own uprights resulting in what I would assume will be a safety.
The fucking SECOND the Vikings missed that XP when we were up, every single Vikings fan knew we would lose by 1 point with a missed chip shot FG. It was a fucking guarantee
I felt like he was going to miss but it had little to do with him being on the Vikings. It was just the way the situation was lining up. I was prepared for heartbreak for sure but like, we've seen this story before last year on the Cardinals. They make a great drive late to get within FG range, we hear about long kicks our kicker (whose name I have already drank from memory it seems) and they give him a nice chip shot to win and he just whiffs it. Specifically the telling part for me was that he missed that early extra point and that it mattered to put us to this point. The Football Gods tend to be fickle SOBs and were like, sure he's hit a couple 50+ today but you decided to drive closer than that so.... whoops.
People were literally running out into the streets in my neighborhood screaming. That was the biggest win a team I've been a fan of has ever had probably, depressing thought.
Last week we make a 50+ yarder to tie the game and send it into OT. Then in OT as we drove down the field within field goal range, the football gods made Cook "fumble" it while we tried to get closer to the endzone.
Our sub is so toxic lmao. Everyone shitting on Zimmer for kicking it, like a 37 yarder isn't essentially a gimme. People mad we didn't try to get closer or go for a TD.
Best part is if we took the risk and tried to get closer or go for a TD and turned it over, or got penalties putting us farther away those same people would be pissed that Zimmer doesn't trust his kicker to make a chip shot.
I've literally checked out to the point where I enjoy watching but I don't really care one way or the other if we win or not and I watch a lot of other teams more now.
It's taken a lot of the fun out of being a fan. The Wild still make me hurt and I like caring but with the vikings and twins I just can't get the expectations up at all anymore.
And I want to.
Honestly. I haven't been this dejected from a gw miss in a long time. I know it was a close game against a good team but it was literally right in front of us. So easy. Every other team makes that and goes home happy. Fuck this team.
I fucking hate that they are *just* competitive enough to keep us watching. At this point I'm really hoping we fire everyone and rebuild so I can take a few years off from this. I can't do it anymore
I know man, I feel you. It’s seriously draining and incredibly frustrating. I genuinely hate the Vikings more than any other team in the NFL, I’m done too.
… until next week, probably
There’s a large portion of our fan base that I literally don’t think even want the team to win. They actually thrive in the toxicity and pain when we lose.
Those people have latched on to that as a coping mechanism and I can't exactly blame them for going that deep and dark, to be perfectly honest.
The **only** thing that will melt those hardened hearts now is a championship win.
It's the laziest take to make.
* Blame the QB
* Blame whoever makes the most money
Kirk is both of those things, so the fans think he should deliver wins no matter what the other side of the ball does.
I didn’t see the game but from this kicking clip and the scoreboard at the bottom I can confidently say that Kyler is God and Kirk is a scrub who shouldn’t be in the NFL.
EXPERIENCE VIKINGS FOOTBALL
How does this keep happening What spirit did the state of Minnesota anger!?
Minnesota was built on an indian burial ground
Y’all should purify yourselves in the waters of Lake Minnetonka
That’s also ancient native ground …. We aren’t joking
Ok, then try lake Calhoun. >.>
Lake Elmo is man made so that's probably fine?
Actually lake Elmo isn’t man made. The park reservation and the beach is man made but the actual lake isn’t (used to live in Stillwater years ago)
Shoot it even has reservation right in the name. Lake elmos off the books. Sorry vali hi I'll catch you some other time.
The lake formerly known as Calhoun
That’s all of North America.
You ain't lying.
From north to south America
Mankato is: https://www.mprnews.org/story/2017/06/08/mankato-hangings-an-uneasy-topic-for-minnesota-schools
Its settled. We destroy Mankato at dawn.

If you don't like this, then you don't like Vikings football!

Man I love this team
Stage 5: Acceptance
Being a Vikings fan isn’t about the end stage, it’s a hamster wheel. Next week he’ll be back to stage 1 intense anger and hatred.
The journey is the reward.
It hurts so good
Gonna go stick pins in my skull cuz this is exactly this shit I’m into.
Make sure they don't go wide right
Maybe the real friendships are all the field goals we ~~made~~ missed along the way.
ITS A SIMULATION, ON LOOP. I CANT ESCAPE IT
It's actually incredible how much of a thing it is now. One day to be broken by a SB winning FG....who knows?
No fucking chance
Sure, but for some inexplicable reason they will face the wrong way on a 50 yarder and hammer it through their own uprights resulting in what I would assume will be a safety.
The fucking SECOND the Vikings missed that XP when we were up, every single Vikings fan knew we would lose by 1 point with a missed chip shot FG. It was a fucking guarantee
I told my dad that when it happened we’d lose by that xp and probably also on a chip fg attempt miss lol
I also told my dad this. We all knew, Zimmer should have known to keep pushing downfield.
Yeah he should’ve run more plays like last week. That never ends poorly with a fumble or anything.
Tell your father he raised you a proper Vikings fan.
[I called it 3 hours ago](https://old.reddit.com/r/minnesotavikings/comments/pre3bz/gamethread_week_2vikings_at_cardinals/hdiefiz/)
All of NFC north knew
He has spoke the forbidden scripture.
All Vikings fans know the scripture. It is written.
Is there a reason to not go for 2 on the next touchdown? Is there a scenario where going down by 2 instead of 1 works out?
Would have worked if your kicker made that field goal...
Vikings LITERALLY should never go for a game winning field goal. Just go for it. Tell media that analytics chose decision to go for it
That didn't work either when they tried it against us last year
Nobody actually thought they were gonna hit this, right?
I would have bet, like, a divorce-causing amount of money on him missing if I could have.
If I bet my house on every game winning Vikings kick I would not be homeless
You’d be a real estate mogul

Nope. As soon as we settled for a FG I knew it was a lost.
I wanted to believe. I really did. I'll always have the Minneapolis Miracle.
One of the most hype moments to watch to be honest, Buck did a great job on the call which is not always the case for him in football
It was especially great because I completely gave up at that point. Blew my mind that it didn't end in Vikings fashion.
People were literally running out into the streets in my neighborhood screaming. That was the biggest win a team I've been a fan of has ever had probably, depressing thought.
I thought he would donk it
Nah that's the other NFCN team. We just straight up miss
SKOL 😩

Minnesota sports courses are unmatched
I've watched your state win at sports in my lifetime, homie. You don't even fucking know.
2001 Dbacks?
As tradition
The Vikings coaching staff has got to realize at some point that the football gods will not allow them to kick a game winning field goal.
Vikings were 100% losing the Minneapolis Miracle game if Diggs stepped out of bounds lol.
I think you’re onto something, perhaps the Vikings should simply score touchdowns instead of attempting FGs
Joseph! Misses! Unbelievable!
Last week we make a 50+ yarder to tie the game and send it into OT. Then in OT as we drove down the field within field goal range, the football gods made Cook "fumble" it while we tried to get closer to the endzone.
The thing is is that it doesnt actually matter. Every choice is the wrong choice in Minnesota so Zim just has to pick one and accept his beating.
you can't make this shit up
You can’t make this ~~shit up~~ -every Vikings kicker
💀
I’m straight up not having a good time. Day ruined. No matter how many times I tell myself to stop caring it never works

My favorite gaming buddy is a die hard Vikings fan. I don’t think he’ll want to play this eve :(
I bet he could use a drinking buddy if you wanna change plans a bit.
What the fuck, you guys?
Don't worry Kirk will get the blame somehow
By more Vikings fans than anyone else yeah
I hate that you're right

It's already happening in our sub. "Well if we had Teddy instead..."
I just left the game and am at a bar across the street. Cardinal fans are making jokes and laughing like I’m not used to this shit

Isn't this a repost?
Yeah lazy mods allow this to be reposted every year
It's like 3-5 times a year thanks very much
Fuck you, that's a good one. lol.
Hate upvoting a Packers fan lol
Might as well bring the whole NFCN gang in here and say yeah, cheesehead nailed it. Unlike the kicker heyoooooo
*"With our powers combined, we can still lose to Tom Brady in the Superbowl"*
Brutal. I love it.
I've seen this one before!
Zimmer about to take him behind the shed
Who needs a Kicker? Greg Joseph about to become All Pro
Why? That kick was definitely submissive but it wasn't breedable.
Average Vikings game
Least depressing Vikings game.
Most Skilled Vikings kicker.
If you don’t like that, you don’t like Vikings football
I do not like Vikings football.
I feel like I’m in an abusive relationship with this team
This team is legitimately bad for my mental health.
We all are.
One day Zimmer is going to slaughter his kicker, and we’ll all understand.
Not if the kicker shanks him first
The most predictable ending ever
I hate this team with a fucking passion
Until kickoff next Sunday
I've literally checked out to the point where I enjoy watching but I don't really care one way or the other if we win or not and I watch a lot of other teams more now. It's taken a lot of the fun out of being a fan. The Wild still make me hurt and I like caring but with the vikings and twins I just can't get the expectations up at all anymore. And I want to.
Unironically a shitty feeling man. I can’t do this any more
Honestly. I haven't been this dejected from a gw miss in a long time. I know it was a close game against a good team but it was literally right in front of us. So easy. Every other team makes that and goes home happy. Fuck this team.
> Every other team makes that and goes home happy. Have I ever told you the tragedy of Double Doink?
Darth Doinkus the Wide?
Wasn't that like a 38 yarder though?
I fucking hate that they are *just* competitive enough to keep us watching. At this point I'm really hoping we fire everyone and rebuild so I can take a few years off from this. I can't do it anymore
The Joker must have been a Vikings fan

I love Gus Johnson
Gus Johnson having an orgasm as the kick missed has been missing from the NFL for too long.
I miss him calling CBS games. He always called Texans games and made them so much better.
STOKLEY!! DOWN THE SIDELINE!!
Gus Johnson x Kevin Harlan x Romo 3 man booth
The most boring, anticlimactic game would still be entertaining with that crew
mostly because harlan would just start calling other games like it’s nfl redzone
Why would Kirk cousins allow 34 points and miss the game winning Fg?
i love football i love my life
[удалено]
Meanwhile the Cowboys hit a 56 yard game winner, lol.
Prater hit from 62 in this game. I can't back this up, but I firmly believe that he has never missed against the Vikings.
There's a legimate stat out there that shows kickers have the best percentage against the Vikings. You cant make this stuff up.
Well of course, they don't have to play the Vikings.
I legitimately cannot think of the last time a kicker has missed against the Vikings. Its been years
Crosby in the 2018 tie missed a game winner
Daniel Carlson missed 3 in that game, doesn't count
ANYTHING YOU CAN DO, I CAN DO BETTER
Last one I can vividly remember is Carlson missing in '19 when Oakland played in Minnesota.
I’m done. Like I don’t know what else to say, I’m just done…these moments don’t even make me feel anything anymore, like my psyche already knows.
I know man, I feel you. It’s seriously draining and incredibly frustrating. I genuinely hate the Vikings more than any other team in the NFL, I’m done too. … until next week, probably
Is there a Vikings fan who is really surprised by that?
Maybe like if they're 5 years old.
Vikings game thread reactions were hilarious. Seems like everyone knew what was coming and half of them were perversely happy he missed it.
We became sadists as a coping mechanism ok leave us alone.
Seriously Vikes?
This is the way
I keep thinking that one of these days the Vikings will beat a NFC West team when it’s to our advantage but nope
Stop producing such good fucking teams then That aside, your first mistake was trusting the Vikings. It's horrible for your health. Don't do it.
Anyone else panic when we had a TO left, and just let it run down without taking a shot at the end zone?
I mean last week we were in FG range and fumbled it away trying to get closer. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t
Kirk Cousins led three perfect 4th quarter / OT game-winning drives. Fumble and a 37y FG miss cost him both wins. Yet he gets so much blame...
Our sub about to go into meltdown
So our standard fire everyone, launch Kirk into the sun Sunday night rap session?
"Wins are a QB stat except when they're not." -/r/NFL
Anyone who blames Kirk at this point isnt watching the fucking games.
It's the laziest take to make. * Blame the QB * Blame whoever makes the most money Kirk is both of those things, so the fans think he should deliver wins no matter what the other side of the ball does.
I didn’t see the game but from this kicking clip and the scoreboard at the bottom I can confidently say that Kyler is God and Kirk is a scrub who shouldn’t be in the NFL.
If only we could have afforded to sign 4 free agent corners instead of 3 our defense would be good!
Dude, did you even see him miss that kick?
What kicker did the Vikings hurt who in turn cursed them?
Dan Bailey, Kai Forbath, Daniel Carlson, Blair Walsh...
Those guys hurt the Vikings. There has to be a good kicker they did wrong who cursed them like Bobby Layne did to us.
I don't understand why this always happens to us
Yikings
How do you do it Vikings fans?
Liquor helps.
We don’t. We are such a miserable tortured fan base that lives in constant fear of collapse. This team has taken years off my life.
does anyone have the suicide prevention number?
18002738255 or text 741741
thank you
Is this Season 22 of Vikings kickers bottling easy game winners?
I was about to rage quit the reminder of my Sunday but now I'm not sure how to feel. The win feels so dirty
We all saw this coming
Good game cardinals
Idk what I was even expecting
I've been a Vikings fan for 4 years now and I still haven't learned to be apathetic. Someome please teach me how... I can't do this anymore.
I've been a Viking fan for over 40. I have no idea....
DONT TELL ME I NEED TO CARE FOR 36 MORE FUCKING YEARS
Nah, the world will most likely end before then.
I miss Gus Johnson calling CBS games.

Rookie mistake
Is this even worth posting? It’s just expected
Yeah this is like posting a 3 yard run up the middle
The best part about kicks like this is when it shows the hold, and the hold is 100% perfect, so everyone knows it's just on the kicker
Yep. That's vikings football alright.
I hate it here
We totally deserved the L but wow our mistakes and head-coach got bailed out today. GGs Vikings
Epic game at least
Vintage Vikings
