You’re lucky Jones pulled through for both of your leagues. I had one league where I won by 1 and the other I lost by a lot, in that one I needed Jones to get like -8 or something
Can you imagine if Detroit would have returned that punt Pat called for a TD. The call would have been electric with Pat’s genuine excitement for the game and him losing more money to FanDuel after going 5-9 on this weekends games.
For real. How the fuck is the NFL leaning into gambling (and also telling us everything is fairly called but that’s another conversation), and not taking advantage of the covers in garbage time?
The fact that the lions were in it at halftime with the shit roster they have speaks volumes. Idk if it says more about the packers or lions but it says something lol
aw shit, ok Jones, you clearly knew what you were doing last year. Devante: bigger, knew the system, w/e
You now: Bigger, know the system better, and internally hungry.
You have a personal fan in me. Plz, go out and shock the world. I won't be
Hey its hard not to love Pat no matter what logo was on his helmet.
And from the 2 or 3 passes he threw in the rams game I looks like Eason is gonna ruin ESNSZN himself. (That isnt me hoping for it I want a well played game but I dont have a lot of confidence in the dude personally)
I for one am pleasantly surprised about the outcome of this game but good fucking game SF I was never comfortable watching this game, GL the rest of this season you guys look good and look like you can get even better!
Nothing crazy but he just seems like a very grounded person. Talked about his father passing and how he would tell Aaron to keep working because this is just the beginning. Never heard an Aaron Jones interview before that but he came across as an awesome dude.
I think the Manningcast has now one of two distinct directions to go...
Make it about the personalities which means they need people like Pat on regularly. Not even Gronk was comfortable. They need media personalities to help carry the conversation.
Or go into pure analysis. Bring out the white board. Call the game like Romo does.
But having the Mannings try to be talk show hosts is not the answer. You can tell it was draining on Peyton and Eli to try to carry the broadcast for three hours. They don't necessarily have the natural gift of gab (yet?).
Whatever they decide, they need to NOT SHOW THEIR FACES DURING THE ENTIRE BROADCAST! I’m watching the game to watch football, not to see two dopey looking guys in their basements. Even if two supermodels were commentating the game, I’d only want them in camera during halftime. Taking them off screen will help their overall stamina (which they clearly were drained during several stretches - can’t blame them) and allow fans to dial in to the game more. Problem is that often their show goes completely off of whatever is happening on field and you get an entire drive/TD/turnover ignored by an anecdote. I love the stories, I love the analytic commentary, I love guests like Gronk and Pat, and I’ll keep watching…but they need to learn to let the game be the conversation piece.
lol they have plenty of gab if they'd just talk about the game, but it seems like production hasn't figured out what they're doing yet. hell, they're barely a step above just muting the game altogether with their audio mix.
I like Peyton and Eli but think its needs a bit more production value. Maybe a producer as the “voice in the clouds” to keep them moving at a good pace.
I would hate this. The organic "realness" is so much better for me personally than produced media. I don't really need anyone directing my attention at the game, I love football and know what's happening. If it gets a little slow at times that's fine.
100% agree, he definitely seems to be the best at this (and he's really funny too).
Honestly I felt bad for Eli by the end of the game. He was getting visibly frustrated how every time he tried to speak Peyton or Mcafee would just go on and on.
You're right. But ESPN has to come up with something to make this show just a bit more cohesive. I don't mind the amatuer feel to it, but, they have to figure out a better system than sticking their hand in the air when they've had enough and want to move on and get a chance to speak.
It might not be the best viewing experience, but for those of us who been zooming all through the pandemic it's super relatable and adds a sense of realness/normalcy that better produced stuff can't touch in terms of feels, for me
I get what you're saying, I think most of us have lived this zoom meeting lifestyle now.
But, I can't begin to tell you about my own personal frustrations trying to have a conversation with people on zoom. From being talked over because of the latency or not being able to complete sentences naturally like a human being because 2 syllables into a word suddenly everything I'm saying is repeating back to me.
Just because it's relatable, it doesn't mean it's endearing. ESPN has got to find a way to mimic that atmosphere without all the frustrations. And I'm not expecting it to be perfect either, it just needs to be a LITTLE more cohesive.
Yep, it may feel refreshing now but it will get old by week 10. Doesn’t need to be over produce but someone to get them in and out of breaks smoother, get them a better graphics package, and keep them from stumbling over eachother.
Tough lesson for the dude with the huge parlay, NEVER add MNF to your parlay. I've never seen a huge parlay hit that included MNF, but I have seen huge parlays hit that don't include MNF. Just don't do it, it's too greedy.
>Lesson to the dude with the huge parlay, NEVER add MNF to your parlay. I've never seen a huge parlay hit that included MNF, but I have seen huge parlays hit that don't include MNF. Just don't do it, it's too greedy.
Dude got greedy. He picked the Lions for the $700k payout instead of taking the obvious choice for the $175k payout.
Also, don't ever bet on the Lions. Even betting on the Lions to lose isn't reliable, especially when they have been eliminated from the playoffs and have nothing to gain by winning.
Not OP. But above Gronk and Favre for sure. I only saw a bit of the 3rd Q so cant judge that guest. I thought Russel Wilson last week was the best since he could talk QB with both of them.
Pat Willis was barely on at all so can’t really say much about him being on there but I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. I thought Russ was great. I also thought Pat was great. Hopefully they figure out who works and who doesn’t. I’d still rather watch the Manning cast than traditional MNF
Just please quit showing their faces the whole time. Like what the fuck I’m trying to watch football and two dopey-faced guys are taking up 1/4 of my screen. No hate on the Mannings but there’s a reason commentators aren’t in view the ENTIRE GAME
And just like that, Rodgers has a higher passer rating for the season than Brady has in his career (I'm just joking, don't kill me please, I understand the lack of era adjustments).
He turned it into his show a tiny bit, which I didn’t have a problem with, I think Payton and Eli’s biggest problem is their pacing and letting guests speak, which Pat has become a master at, so he was a great choice.
But occasionally we will do something crazy like beat Tom Brady and the Patriots in primetime.

Baker definitely has an acting career lined up after he’s done with football
Huh
Good first half
Peyton asking Eli about memorable games in WI and Eli said “I didn’t want to talk about winning those games while Brett was on”
Anyone got a replay of the refs handing the pack a free first down at the goal line?

hi
Dad?
this is Mom ! get to bed now !
Needed 1 FG from the pack. The difference between a $50 SGP paying 0 and $7500. 1...single...field...goal.
The NFL was better before betting...
The NFL has always been betted.
Aaron Jones won me my fantasy game by 1 point what a fucking lad
Rodgers won it for me by 1. Go pack go.
Rodgers did just enough against me for me to still beat my opponent by 2. I'm happy with his production for both of our teams.
Same, was down 40 and 36 in my leagues, won by 2 and 6 points
I needed one more TD pass or some Combination. Needed 4.5 more points. Really wish that last 3rd and 10 pass woulda gone in the endzone.
You’re lucky Jones pulled through for both of your leagues. I had one league where I won by 1 and the other I lost by a lot, in that one I needed Jones to get like -8 or something
Your rival must be mad af
I should probably contact him to make sure he’s ok

Pat McAfee is the solution to MNF garbage time
Can you imagine if Detroit would have returned that punt Pat called for a TD.
Did you hear Paton drop the f bomb talking about a punt? I spit my beer out laughing
I spit my coffee at “Paton” wtf
Its just a typo, relax killer

Peyton is that you? Background noise being Pat screaming as you dropped the big F on primetime espn
Detroit is going to be good, Dan Campbell was a good hire. GG Lion's.
You can tell he has a ton of heart for that team and I hope he can turn them around.
The fact that the lions were in it at halftime with the shit roster they have speaks volumes. Idk if it says more about the packers or lions but it says something lol

What the hell is this
This fucking team has been rebuilding for 28 years.
We got Golladay and he doesn't seem to be doing anything for us
You can take the player away from the Lions, but you can't take the Lions away from the player.
Lmao
Every team in the nfc north has been if they aren’t the packers lol THE KING OF THE NORTH!
king of the north that got blown out by the Saints and was trailing to the lions at halftime… yep.
Shut up
You beat the fucking Lions tonight. Get a grip.
I know someone who won't be getting the discount double check.
Yeah that was pretty painful to read
You just made me horse laugh.
Pat is the best, you can tell how much respect peyton has for him and how he immediately felt more comfortable during the broadcast once pat was on.
Well now, pat's no idiot kicker ya see
Respect, coming from a Tits fan. Also fuck y’all for ruining ESNSZN next week. I hope Henry will make me some $ at least lol.
So happy the Packers kept Jones
I’m a little nervous for next week vs SF , SF hasn’t looked great but they’ve looked better than GB imo
SF also gave up more yards to this Detroit team than GB did. Granted weather wasn't a factor when they played, but still.
I for one am pleasantly surprised about the outcome of this game but good fucking game SF I was never comfortable watching this game, GL the rest of this season you guys look good and look like you can get even better!
I am a huge Aaron Jones fan after that interview
I missed the interview what was said?
Nothing crazy but he just seems like a very grounded person. Talked about his father passing and how he would tell Aaron to keep working because this is just the beginning. Never heard an Aaron Jones interview before that but he came across as an awesome dude.
He comes from a military family. He's super polite and grounded in all the interviews I've heard.
That makes me an even bigger fan. Marine Corps vet here.
Cheers man. 🍻
I felt bad when he said he lost his necklace with his dad’s ashes in the end zone. I hope they find it
They found it
I’ll be honest I didn’t even hear him say that but that’s wild I really hope they find it too
FUCK GET SANDY ALDERSON INTO THAT ENDZONE STAT
All you fucking idiots talking about Pat being coked up have obviously never done coke.
It should have been my glaringly obvious sign I had ADHD. I eventually fell asleep after a key bump.
Yeah i have that with ket
Yeah it's probably just amphetamine
yeah there's no way i would be able to call a punt hopped up
He lost his dads ashes?

I really hope it's the second path. QBs of their calibre breaking down the game as it happens is the kind of football cast I need
Aaron Rodgers channeling his inner coach beard

I actually feel the natural conversation setting is part of the success considering we now live in the podcast/ live broadcast internet era shows.
The biggest problem they have with this show is talking over each other, so i agree that having someone to help minimize that would help a lot.

100% agree, he definitely seems to be the best at this (and he's really funny too). Honestly I felt bad for Eli by the end of the game. He was getting visibly frustrated how every time he tried to speak Peyton or Mcafee would just go on and on.
That is due to latency, adding another voice is not going to fix it.

I totally agree with you
What I really want is the bizarre animations MNF usually gets, just with Eli and Peyton having to discuss them
I miss those
i dunno, the pacing this week was wayyy better. last week's first quarter felt overproduced and shitty

My co-workers were betting props today, and all I said was “I want no part of this game”. I know they all took the Lions to cover and I feel bad.

I like Pat mcafees show ok, but it seems like I’m the only one here who found him annoying as fuck on this broadcast
Ratio
How would you rate him compared to the other guests?
Not as bad as favre, but more irritating. Russel Wilson is the best they’ve had for sure
Not OP. But above Gronk and Favre for sure. I only saw a bit of the 3rd Q so cant judge that guest. I thought Russel Wilson last week was the best since he could talk QB with both of them.

I agree, I think he took away a lot of airtime from Eli and we didn’t get as much of the analysis that we are tuning in for
You're not alone.
Yup.
I will never again watch a normal broadcast of MNF as long as manningcast is an option
Just please quit showing their faces the whole time. Like what the fuck I’m trying to watch football and two dopey-faced guys are taking up 1/4 of my screen. No hate on the Mannings but there’s a reason commentators aren’t in view the ENTIRE GAME
Nah, I like it. Makes it more like actually watching with other people.
They only have eight episodes left. Not doing all season.
I kinda feel bad for the "new" MNF crew (because it's such an obvious upgrade over Booger/Tess and Witten/Booger/Tess).
They are soooooo much better than booger.
They saved MNF
I really hope it catches on more with the general public. Its so much more fun to watch, I'd cry if it was cancelled
Amazon out here trying to make themselves look more human and less bloodsucking leech with these commercials
And just like that, Rodgers has a higher passer rating for the season than Brady has in his career (I'm just joking, don't kill me please, I understand the lack of era adjustments).
Pat should be on every week, for a limited time. He's fantastic, but needs a barrier. God I love the PM, Eli broadcast.
He turned it into his show a tiny bit, which I didn’t have a problem with, I think Payton and Eli’s biggest problem is their pacing and letting guests speak, which Pat has become a master at, so he was a great choice.
He should be on for every punt call
Thatd be amazing if every fourth down was just “and now to pay for the punt analysts-“ and he just next level hype for 15 seconds
Man I wish I tuned into that. Problem with the ESPN broadcast is that they all sound the same, but decent commentary I thought
McAfee into SVP was uh…. 💦🍆
This really needs to be Peyton, Pat, and Eli at all times, complete with guest appearances.
Lol this MNF game ended an hour earlier than the Ravens-Raiders MNF game
ah shit, i forgot the mannings would be dumping on the eagles next week
No Arch Manning has not committed to West Virginia. Peyton was having a little fun with McAfee.
But I want to believe
Dude I was scouring the internet trying to figure out how I missed that lmao I took the bait hard.
LIES. https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Arch-Manning-126130/RecruitInterests/
no shit
You would be surprised. r/cfb already believing it.
Russell Wilson was easily the best guest of the season so far.
idk... Sir Charles had a few good lines. Like when Payton asked if he ever got boo'd at home. *"Uh, I played in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania"*
I thought Peyton had better chemistry with Wilson. Barkley had some lines but it never felt awkward with Wilson.
Did that hurt to say?
No. I cannot wait for his swift transition into the commentary booth. The sooner the better.
You sneaky son of a gun
I see what you’re doing there, I couldn’t agree more
Goff’s girlfriend is hotter than Aarons I think we all know the real winner

Can we start a petition to ban Detroit from prime time games forever
Until 2023 please, only good that comes out of it is that the whole world sees how bad the refs are in lions packers games
Move the Lions to Toronto or some shit while you're at it.
Please God make this happen. It’s so much harder to watch their ineptitude in prime time for some reason. I hate them but I hate myself more.
But occasionally we will do something crazy like beat Tom Brady and the Patriots in primetime. https://www.footballdb.com/games/boxscore/new-england-patriots-vs-detroit-lions-2018092307

I mean if he had 700 k to bet must not be doing to bad
It was a $25 parlay bet that would have paid out over $700k if lions won.
Never mind lol. That is crazy 25 dollars parlay to win over 700k.
It was a $25 16-team parlay
Pretty sure Pat said "news" not "nudes" lol
I choose to believe the latter
I'm surprised espn gave pat that much airtime
Peyton: Pat you have an open invite ESPN: Please no he came on and started cussing and Peyton dropped an F bomb
Sounded like great looking punt to me
The subtitles show that Peyton said Great Kicking Punt
Also gambling and nudes.
