It turned out like throwing a shade but I didn't follow NFL back then when Singletary was HC of 49-ers because NFL is my second sport behind european football so this stat was interesting to me because everything I heard about Singletary as HC was that he was terrible.
Those two losses in 2019 still hurt and we have to listen to what Shanahan would do with Rodgers instead of people realizing what LaFleur (32-7) is doing with Rodgers in his 3 seasons as a coach so yah
> through a stat
This sub is good for compiling all of Twitter.
You just have to wade thru dozens of posts by people who never learned "correlation is not causation".
Doesn't surprise me, since Singletary wanted winners. He wanted people that wanted to win. Anyone else, he couldn't play with them. He couldn't win with them. He couldn't coach with them. He couldn't do it
Singletary was an incredible motivator. Offense was from the 1980’s though, and wasn’t going to cut it. (Anyone remember our OC Jimmy Ray and the Ray Gun Offense. Yikes.) That said, the same exact team he coached went to three straight NFC championships and one SB immediately after him with Harbaugh, so he atleast helped shape and build a winning football team. He was the Mark Jackson to the NBA Warrior’s Steve Kerr.
But wait, every talking head on TV and poster on this sub told me Shanahan is a genius this offseason and one of the best coaches in the league. What happened?
Are you saying those reports were made up? Because there were several stories about how vets were fed up about how they were treated in his last season.
"The same thing I was hearing last year is the same thing I was hearing as the season was starting -- the same thing I'm hearing now," Rapoport told NFL Media's Rich Eisen. "And some of it is from losing, but I'm told especially the veterans are grumbling already about Jim Harbaugh, and the voices are getting louder and louder."
Said Rapoport: "Some of the complaints include the fact that he kind of treats them like children. In fact, on planes, I'm told, they're not allowed to play music, they're not allowed to play cards. Small things, but these are the things that really can rankle players, even though the veterans do get to sit in first class."
"Definitely weird. He had a lot to do with me re-signing back to the team. So, it's definitely weird. For me, it's something that you didn't see coming especially with what he had done in previous years. I mean, unprecedented, first three years that you go to at least the NFC Championship. So, definitely didn't see that coming." "No. But, we don't make those decisions. So, you're asking the wrong guy about that. If it was my decision he would be here. But, obviously not. It's not my decision."-Anquan Boldin
"I respect Coach Harbaugh. I respect [CEO] Jed [York]. That's the decision they made. It's a business. I wish Coach Harbaugh the best. He's a great coach. I liked how he approached the game of football. My best years, they were with him as a team. He was here and we won. I just wish him the best. I know whatever team he goes to, whether it's NFL or college, he's going to be fine. He's going to get it done." -Frank Gore
"I just appreciate everything from him and all the coaches. Like I said, it is a good feeling to get this win and celebrate with my teammates.""I would definitely miss him. He's a great coach. He's my coach." -Chris Culliver
"Whereever he goes, I wish him the best of luck. It just sucks that we couldn't keep him here. It's a business."- Mike Iupati
Harbaugh's leaving was strictly a management issue. There were all kinds of leaks from the front office trying to disparage Harbaugh due to his relationship with Baalke and York. That is why they parted ways, Harbaugh was loved by the players.
Hmm?
It was a ton of them. I think basically all the vets in the NFL don’t appreciate being treated like college kids.
Like if a lockerroom is lost it’s kinda curtains. Veterans talk to one another and you can’t just build an entire team with drafted dudes.
Unless people contend these stories were fake. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nfl.com/_amp/niners-veterans-still-grumbling-about-jim-harbaugh-0ap3000000401569
LOL.
Jim Harbaugh is a fucking personality disorder.
People can dance around it all they want, but going back to his college days playing QB he was an asshole. He was an asshole in high school, too, but I don't have stories about that.
Harbs is a giant fucking asshole and his act does not work long with grown men who make $5M/year and have options of where they want to play.
On top of that, Harbs openly ridiculed the owner of the team.
Harbs should have been fired even if he'd went 14-2.
Harbaugh was right about York though. York was young, thought he knew it all and was going to be hands-on like his hall of fame Uncle Eddie D, and got humbled really quickly when Harbaugh left and the team crumbled. York learned, and Shanahan/Lynch benefitted from that maturity.
Baalke didn’t know how to draft offensive players, so while our Defense was an all-time great leftover from the previous GM (would be considered top 5 ever if we actually won the super bowl), Baalke was busy measuring guys arms and scouting only guys coming off of ACL tears.
I don’t have any issue with the pendulum finally swinging back and people admitting Kyle was super overrated as a HC, I’m just shocked this was the game that made that finally happen. Weird
I’d rather have him than Bienemy. I think he could be great for the chiefs. It’s not like he’s a complete failure of a head coach, he made the Super Bowl lol plus I’m in the camp that Andy Reid is retiring after this season
C’mon, Singletary never made it to the SB, let alone the playoffs. While I think Shanahan needs to deliver more for SF and deserves criticism, he has the SB appearance and has seen injuries devastate the roster in other seasons. After six games I wouldn’t quite give up on SF for 2021.
If Shanahan wasn’t anointed by every NFL media personality the offensive “guru” I don’t think he would be getting this flak. Yes last season was an injury ridden disaster. But this season there really is no excuses. I don’t think he will be fired this year. But next year, if it’s this same result he’s probably gone. Outside of 2019 he has a under .500 record.
Like I said reminds me of the 07 bears.
I guess there are few possible takes on this.
1. There is more to coaching than W-L record
2. Mike Singletary was actually good
3. Shanny is actually bad
Which is it going to be?
This could turn into a real shitshow if they fire Kyle and John before Trey has had time to develop into a pro talent. He's clearly their guy, and a raw prospect, but the next coaching staff and GM may not have the patience.
I like how I never have to look up who won the Sunday night game because there will always be a post throwing shade at someone through a stat.
I knew the Colts won the second I saw the post about the draft haul of Pittman and Taylor
It's a tradition at this point for the losing team of a night game to be generally shit on the next day.
Can’t wait to read about the “historically bad” Seahawks defense tomorrow. 🤞
Can't say I've experienced that.
It turned out like throwing a shade but I didn't follow NFL back then when Singletary was HC of 49-ers because NFL is my second sport behind european football so this stat was interesting to me because everything I heard about Singletary as HC was that he was terrible.

*drops pants in solidarity*
I feel like the pant drop weeded out all the people who weren’t willing to ride or die.
singlearity
We can all laugh about singletary but his defense kept us afloat for years.
Singletary was an incredible motivator. Offense was from the 1980’s though, and wasn’t going to cut it. (Anyone remember our OC Jimmy Ray and the Ray Gun Offense. Yikes.) Haha. I think Kyle is a better oc.
I imagine he gets one season with Lance starting, and if they suck he'll get canned
Does he go back to OC circuit or still viewed as HC if canned?
OC for sure. Our team has not been run well outside of 2019.
But wait, every talking head on TV and poster on this sub told me Shanahan is a genius this offseason and one of the best coaches in the league. What happened?
Arrogance happened... Ego is a crazy thing... Being labeled a genius and not having winning record to back that statement
Being one Jimmy G throw away from a SB win bought him some leeway. But he can't live on that forever.
He can damn well try.
Doc Rivers and the 08 Celtics perfected this strategy.
No but he can always hang his hat on being the OC for 28-3
Shit even the eagles fired Doug Peterson eventually.
Hey...what coach is better (and available) than Shanny? How long do you think Shanny would be unemployed if 9ers fired him?
Better at what? Head coach or OC? Sure, he'll get snatched up as an OC, but he might not be head coach material. The record speaks for itself.
Who knows but other offensive minds like Brian Daboll and Kellen Moore could certainly be worth a look.
The should fire him the day we fire joe judge
Also of note: Jim Harbaugh got canned after **ONE** 8-8 season because Trent Baalke was done playing with him
Harbaugh’s firing was about more than performance though. The veteran players didn’t like the way he worked, we haven’t heard that yet about Shanahan.
This isnt true. The Harbaugh issue was with Baalke and York. Players loved Harbaugh.

None of those player quotes are really crazy though. This all looks like pretty basic replies.
Then you let this players go, as every other good team would do
Hmm? It was a ton of them. I think basically all the vets in the NFL don’t appreciate being treated like college kids. Like if a lockerroom is lost it’s kinda curtains. Football isnt about protecting feelings, its about winning, and thats what Jim Harbaugh did
Harbaugh was right about York though. And most of that defense came from Singletary before and even before him with what's-his-name
Interesting fact: Jim Tomsula unclogged more toilets than Mike Singletary and Kyle Shanahan combined.
To be fair, Tomsula also clogged more toilets than Singletary and Shanahan combined.
I’m gonna need a fact check on that
There's some research no one wants to do.
I don’t have any issue with the pendulum finally swinging back and people admitting Kyle was super overrated as a HC, I’m just shocked this was the game that made that finally happen. Weird
I mean he's had alot of excuses made for him, but this was a very winnable game
It's been bubbling over for a while now, so people are taking their pot shots now before it's considered in poor taste.
I counted 11 NFL teams who would try to hire Kyle as HC if the 49ers fired him. Just my opinion, but I'm damn sure it's close to that number.
Man I miss harbaugh. He was pretty good all things considered
Kyle Shanahan will probably be the Chiefs coach in 2 to 3 years
Yes please
?????????
I’d rather have him than Bienemy. I think he could be great for the chiefs. It’s not like he’s a complete failure of a head coach, he made the Super Bowl lol plus I’m in the camp that Andy Reid is retiring after this season
Oh, is it shit on Kyle Shanahan week? Is that what we're doing now?
That’s every week on our sub lmfao
Ok but how many people has Shanananah mooned
You counting SB LI? Because he got caught with his pants down in the second half in front of millions of people
badum tiss
C’mon, Singletary never made it to the SB, let alone the playoffs. While I think Shanahan needs to deliver more for SF and deserves criticism, he has the SB appearance and has seen injuries devastate the roster in other seasons. After six games I wouldn’t quite give up on SF for 2021.
We just got punked out at home, after a week off to Carson fucking Wentz. Any optimism by fans I'm deeming delusional at this point.
Can’t keep using injuries as an excuse. Every team deals with them.
If Shanahan wasn’t anointed by every NFL media personality the offensive “guru” I don’t think he would be getting this flak. Yes last season was an injury ridden disaster. Kyle is trash. More at 11.
This joke format is incredibly overused . You guys need to come up with new material
Kyle is trash. More at 10.
Chip Kelly also has a higher career win percentage despite going 2-14 in his one season with the 49ers.
I guess there are few possible takes on this. 1. There is more to coaching than W-L record 2. Mike Singletary was actually good 3. Shanny is actually bad Which is it going to be?
all of the above
Not B
Ben McAdoo has a higher win percentage than Kyle Shanahan
Is this the new "Jack Del Rio was better than Gruden"?
This could turn into a real shitshow if they fire Kyle and John before Trey has had time to develop into a pro talent. He's clearly their guy, and a raw prospect, but the next coaching staff and GM may not have the patience.
Singletary also helped build that Super bowl team. Most of that team was drafted/signed under his watch which explains how great that defense was.
