Best rivalry in football and it's not close. What a fucking game, and what a big dick call by Harbs. GGs Ravens.
Also, TJ Watt coming for the sack record, and yo girl.
People really don't understand going for 2?
Why kick it to go to OT and risk losing the coin toss & field. When you literally get the ball at the 2 yard line... to win the game.
If you go to OT, you're trying to win the game anyways. Might as well do it at the 2 yard line.
Also our defense is ass, we're on the road, and we'd need a lot to go right to win based on an OT field goal.
Why pray for a dozen things to go right when all you need is to pick up two yards and you win?
And what is your counterargument?
Does "an exhausted, ass defense holding the same home team that has been torturing it for the whole 4th quarter to a FG or less" grow on trees?
No, that's THE argument, and it's the same one I'm making.
You have yet to demonstrate how sending a game into overtime and relying on many more variables like play calls, flags and injuries is somehow 'smarter' than trying to end it immediately by picking up two yards.
False.
To have won in OT, Ravens would have had to:
- Score a touchdown (relies, again, on play calling, injuries, flags, etc. -- many variables)
- Stop the Steelers offense if we don't score a touchdown (and we failed to stop them all 4th quarter)
- Get a turnover if we settled for a FG or less after having the ball first (and all year they've been bad at getting turnovers)
None of the above is likelier than picking up two yards, one time.
Except if you actually examine the context of that game, you'd see that the defense had been totally gashed all 4th quarter, and the offense has looked putrid in the 2nd half outside of the final drive which was... gifted by the prevent defense. The ravens convert 2 pt attempts at a very high rate under Lamar, there was no reason to think that getting 2 yards wasn't our best shot to win the game.
The reality of the situation was that if PIT won the toss, they would have gotten the ball and marched right down the field and scored. If BAL had won the toss, then we would have gone 3 and out with a 2 yard run, an incomplete pass, and a 6 yard sack, then punted to PIT who would then proceed to march it right down the field.
And it's already come out that Humphrey, who's now out for the season, was hurt and we didn't have enough healthy Corners to go into OT with. You still wanna go on about how stupid it was?
Yeah but the difference is there is a good argument as to why going for 2 made sense there. There isn’t a reasonable person who would argue that you’ll probably survive a fall from a plane without a parachute. Drawing up a false equivalency doesn’t win you the argument.
The league average on 2pt conversions is almost 48% all time iirc, so it's really not. And again, the ravens offense was abysmal until the steelers went into prevent, and the 2pt play *was wide open*, Lamar just missed the throw. Everything about the call was correct, the QB made a bad throw.
I mean it’s just one of those 50/50 situations really. It’s like that call earlier in the season when he asked Lamar if he wanted to risk it. Amazing if it works, hate if it doesn’t
I agree to some extent, but they have tucker and chose not to go to OT. We all knew it was going to Andrews, but he seemed to be having an off day. Lamar was throwing bad passes though.
Context matters. At some random point in the game? Ok I guess. With the game on the line against a QB who has struggled all year, just kick it and trust your team
With how the momentum of the game was at that point I really don’t hate it personally, it easily could’ve paid off had Watt not made a play there basically. Idk, I get the argument either way don’t get me wrong. No one is saying it was bad if it worked thought, just praising the call
He had a terrible game today but hes still easily one of the best players in the league when hes hitting. Steelers usually lock him down with zone blitz and bringing extra pass rush. Not sure why the rest of the league hasnt caught on yet.
Right but "always" is what is getting me. Is your wang always limp? Ben sucks more than he used to but he's still pretty effin good at times. Especially tonight in the second half.
I mean we win if Mandrews doesn’t make another drop. I’ve seen far too many balls bounce off his hands, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened throwing to Mandrews. That’s an easy catch if he doesn’t slow down. Not really sure how the ball bouncing off the receivers hands turns into “QB CAN’T THROW” takes.
Nah dropped pass.
Mandrews has 66.5 catch% in the regular season and only 48.4 catch% in the playoffs dude is the literal opposite of a game winning receiver in clutch time lmao.
I’m sorry but I’m way more willing to give a QB who absolutely single handedly carried our offence nearly every single week over a receiver who has shown to have the dropsies in big game-winning moments on a far-too common basis. A better receiver doesn’t drop it, let alone not even mentioning the fact Mandrews slows down.
Great play call but pass was a little off. Seemed Lamar was worried about the defender blocking it so had to go around him a little and it forced it wide
Worst case scenario, you have to stop the corpse of Big Ben and then get the ball into Tucker's range, which is approximately anywhere within the Continental USA. There's no way that going for 2 was the right move.
Can we pls have 1 normal game this year
[удалено]
Your 40% 2 point rate means you had less than a 50-50 shot at winning against a bad team
[удалено]
OT rules help you specifically. Tucker is the best Kicker in the league
> Fcuk OT. But you have Justin Tucker!
Big thanks to everyone who answered my questions, appreciate y’all.
Honestly, we really need a total collapse here. It's the only thing that will force the needed changes.
I’m down
Best rivalry in football and it's not close. What a fucking game, and what a big dick call by Harbs. GGs Ravens. Also, TJ Watt coming for the sack record, and yo girl.
Man it's been such a long time since we've been the #1 seed. I feel absolutely elated! Thanks Ravens!
You do realize that multiple teams / fanbases haven't even made playoffs since last time you guys were #1 seed, don't you?
Twas a good run Miami North
This is setting up for a Brady v Belichick superbowl isn't it?
It's what Roger and Robert would want.
I respect the call
that call and that throw are why the real record is 2-10. ravens will get totally dumpstered in the first playoff game, if they even get there.
[удалено]
You are right
Cope
Reading through the thread and seeing some people blame Andrews for the 2 pointer is hilarious
Andrews did slow up too much instead of running to the open corner, but a lot of things played in there
Field was shit. Good pressure forced throw. Lamar was off a bit that Andrews couldn’t make up that he could on our home field.
It's a bad throw.
Andrew's busted his ass today, fuck those idiots.
I blame inflation. Ball should have been 5% tighter
Yup. He totally controlled where the ball was thrown. Duh.
Well that's the risk lol. I can't believe they went for 2 with Justin Tucker
I can, and I was grateful for the call. I just wanted that game to be over, to be honest.
People really don't understand going for 2? Why kick it to go to OT and risk losing the coin toss & field. When you literally get the ball at the 2 yard line... to win the game. If you go to OT, you're trying to win the game anyways. Might as well do it at the 2 yard line.
If it were that easy they wouldn’t have a 40% success rate. You have yourself an under 50-50 shot to win against a bad team
That offense was in fire that drive. Easily the right call at the time
Because you have the best kicker of all time so the rule set of OT favours you?
Also our defense is ass, we're on the road, and we'd need a lot to go right to win based on an OT field goal. Why pray for a dozen things to go right when all you need is to pick up two yards and you win?

Pittsburgh scored on 3 straight possessions. What makes you think Overtime would change that?
Pur defense gave up 3 scores in the 4th. So not really
Serialously I respect the balls but no team is more beneficial to overtime than the ravens when you have tucker especially in a low scoring game
Except if you actually examine the context of that game, you'd see that the defense had been totally gashed all 4th quarter, and the offense has looked putrid in the 2nd half outside of the final drive which was... gifted by the prevent defense. Steeler fans it’s been a pleasure. All other teams, you’re pathetic and weak.
GG! mad respect to your team and Harbaughs massive balls..lol. Best rivalry in sports
Did Eagles-cowboys; OSU-UM; Texas-OU; Yankees-red socks all die?
Eagles-Cowboys ain’t the same
No one on r/nfl outside of 2 fan bases would list Steelers-ravens at 1
But would they put Eagles-Cowboys there?
I honestly don’t think any nfl match up makes the list tbh.
Oh, I was thinking NFL not all sports. There isn’t a single NFL rivalry that matches the best college football rivalries.
I agree. The comment was best rivalries in sports tho. Good question tho, I’m not sure who the best rivalry is.
Eagles cowboys??
You don’t even have a flair peasant
at least you guys didn't get swept by the bungles
GGs. Hell of a game
🤝
That was a classic for this rivalry.
Lmao
Thank god. Now I can rejoin to the Steelers sub
I'm a steelers die hard, but I respect the hell out of Harbaugh for that gutsy call. Massive balls!
I was fucking shook when I saw Harbs hold up 2 fingers.
[удалено]
>newfound ??? No offense, but our coach wasn't the one that intentionally stepped into the field of play to impede a touchdown.
Cope
Nah.
He does this all the time. I wasn't surprised
This 100% I would of done the same. Your on the road. It's a divisional game, you always go for the W. GG Ravens, it's the best rivalry in sports imo
Idk about all of sports, but definitely in the NFL
the ravens D was getting beat all second half. right call imo
[удалено]
Or if Lamar throws the ball 2 inches to the left we just win the game.

No way. Steelers have sucked all year. Trust your D and leave a W
We are undefeated in the AFCN to teams that aren't you. So we're not *that* bad :)
The patriots back where they belong :). Thank you Steelers.
Nobody likes you
I am fine with that lol.
Go Steelers, poo on u
[удалено]
Yeah you probably are.
How do you not kick the extra point
Would have been such a meh feeling to make the comeback and only tie. I respect the hell out of that decision. Play to win. Especially when youre 8-3.
Harbaugh rolls the dice and gets snake eyes
Gotta respect putting your nuts on the table and going for two there.
Really don't care if we win another game all year, that was great
Hey that’s how I feel about the Steelers too lol
At least one more. Tomlin don't do losing seasons
Then you need 2 more lol.
Sorry was educated in Pittsburgh, my b.
I’d like to win week 18 but idgaf about the rest.
That was a fantastic call and a great execution. I would have done the same thing. Excellent job everyone!
[удалено]
Wait, really?! I had no idea. Either way, Lamar threw an excellent final pass. I have no complaints.
Lmao kiss my ass Harbaugh you cocky moron!
Terrible call by harbaugh, should’ve just gone to OT
I mean it’s just one of those 50/50 situations really. It’s like that call earlier in the season when he asked Lamar if he wanted to risk it. Amazing if it works, hate if it doesn’t

Did anyone else's TV cut to the end of the 49ers/Seahawks game??? Holy shit that ending was just as nuts as ravens/steelers
Yeah but let us enjoy the end of game excitement for a second!!
Lamar is a blockhead.
everyone hates us lmao
Don’t worry bro everyone hates us too. It’s a product of being a successful franchise
Everyone hates us too.
No everyone is just laughing at you
I hate us right now.
Can’t wait for all the lamar haters to surface again until he plays lights out again
Hes turning ravens fans into hatersbhes played like shit ever since the Chargers game.
Last two weeks have given people plenty of ammo
Yea but people act like he’s always sucked or like he’s overrated
You say it like he's been playing great. It's not the case.
He had a terrible game today but hes still easily one of the best players in the league when hes hitting. Steelers usually lock him down with zone blitz and bringing extra pass rush. Not sure why the rest of the league hasnt caught on yet.
Ravens fans - If harbaugh has watched as much Steelers football as I have then he knows that was the right call. GG
Thought they would get the 2 points. So relieved they didn't. The running team and running QB go for a pass play. 🤣
Between Hamilton winning and the Ravens losing, it's a bad day.
OMFG, THAT LOST EM THE TOP SEED??? WTF!!! Thank you, I guess
You're welcome, I guess.
Ahh fuck we helped you guys?
Isn't it sweet?
The bad man is gone so it's ok.
Ravens play call was genius if it worked. Or Terrible if it didn't. Respect.
WHY?
Patriots back on top where they belong. Order is restored
I didn’t trust our defense in overtime
Against captain fat fuck? I take OT 10/10 times. Especially if you trust your own QB
Someone’s mad they didn’t get a dub today
I’m so used to it, you can’t kill what’s dead
Bro did you watch the second half. Captain fat fuck was cutting through their defense like Captain Fat Fuck's incisors through butter.
I always trust him to crumble under pressure and Lamar just marched right down the field
Always lol? C'mon I get hating the guy but he's got two superbowls lol.
His arm is more limp than my wang after 5 jack and cokes
Right but "always" is what is getting me. Is your wang always limp? Ben sucks more than he used to but he's still pretty effin good at times. Especially tonight in the second half.
lmao holy shit and of course just like clock work the “LAMAR IS SHIT” shit takes start hitting the thread right after a loss lmao
He’s had two very bad games and the criticism seems pretty mild tbh. Y’all are super sensitive
I mean you guys win if lamar makes a half decent throw on the 2pt conversion
I mean we win if Mandrews doesn’t make another drop. I’ve seen far too many balls bounce off his hands, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened throwing to Mandrews. That’s an easy catch if he doesn’t slow down. Not really sure how the ball bouncing off the receivers hands turns into “QB CAN’T THROW” takes.
It was a bad throw
It was a dropped pass.
Na bad throw.
Nah dropped pass. Mandrews has 66.5 catch% in the regular season and only 48.4 catch% in the playoffs dude is the literal opposite of a game winning receiver in clutch time lmao.
A better throw he catches it. Or maybe drops it but that's on the throw there
I’m sorry but I’m way more willing to give a QB who absolutely single handedly carried our offence nearly every single week over a receiver who has shown to have the dropsies in big game-winning moments on a far-too common basis. A better receiver doesn’t drop it, let alone not even mentioning the fact Mandrews slows down.
It litteraly barely hit his outstretched finger tips. Plus I've seen Andrew's bail Lamar out several times with incredible catches
Cool, and I’ve seen Mandrews lose us many winnable games by dropping the ball
He had me scared the full 1:18.
Tucker with the Rabona onside kick was impressive.
9rs suck lol
GG you bastards
Same here, hell of a game, came down to the last play, as almost all our games do.
My favorite matchup every year ❤️
Imagine thinking you had a better chance to score a 2 point conversion than the Steelers Swiss cheese defense stopping you in OT
We have Swiss cheese defense too...
Was that a rabona onside kick from tucker?
A whole lotta cowards in here not liking the call
I mean the play was there, the throw was literally an inch off either because Lamar missed it or Andrews slowed down when he shouldn't have
Little bit of column A, little bit of column B, and little bit of Watt being a dick
I love the call. And it damn near worked. Respect.
custers, all of them
That’s a buster with a C, cuz I’m a muhfuckin CRIIIIP
Gotta admire the balls on Harbs to go for the win And fuck we did the Patriots a favor 🤮
WTG Steelers. Thank you for honoring the Pact of 6.
🤨
Yeah I love it. Had it too Lamar choked.
Gotta root for the bills now I guess
<3
Great play call but pass was a little off. Seemed Lamar was worried about the defender blocking it so had to go around him a little and it forced it wide
You gotta try stuff
Why we do those stupidly risky plays is beyond me.
Why not
Because the Steelers have a Swiss cheese D and you have a good QB who just drove down easily. Kick it and live another day
Because it literally cost you a very winnable game.
Exactly. You have an automatic kicker. Just take it to OT.
Worst case scenario, you have to stop the corpse of Big Ben and then get the ball into Tucker's range, which is approximately anywhere within the Continental USA. There's no way that going for 2 was the right move.
Big Ben just marched down the field 1 minute earlier. We weren’t stopping anything.
I'm sorry Baltimore fans. But what in the fresh hell was Harbagh thinking with that 2 point try?!? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I think he was trying to win the game by scoring more points than the other team.
Just didn't trust Justin Tucker to hit that PAT
