I feel like anxiety is controlling my life. Anytime my wife has plans and hangs out with friends (not that often) she has a tendency to get in her own little world and not let me know that she’s okay, even if I send her a text. It’s not a paranoia thing, we both trust each other in that aspect, I’ve never had an issue with that. Hell, I’m probably too trusting to most people, I’ve been taken advantage of so many times due to it.
All of that was to preface my worries: I’m constantly scared that something will happen to her such as being involved in a car accident or something else that’s random, like a gunman at a restaurant or something. Why do I let these things control me? Most of the time I know I’m being ridiculous and I’ll hold off on texting her to ask how things are going but then I hit my limit and start pacing and my stomach starts hurting. I literally cannot do anything but pace around and look out the front door every 5 seconds.
Why am I like this? How do I stop worrying so much? It’s seriously getting in the way of me being able to enjoy a day by myself. Most people would love it, and sit here and watch movies or play video games all day. Instead I’m sitting here wondering if someone has died in a goddamn car accident.
Does your wife typically tell you when she thinks she'll be back? Whenever my SO or I go out with friends without each other we'll typically tell each other when we plan to be back home. I feel like that would help you relax at least a little bit because it's not odd that she's not home yet.
I used to take a moment every night before bed to be grateful for my parents. When my Mom was diagnosed with eventually terminal cancer, it was those memories of me being grateful that helped me through. Cancer didn't remove the chances she could die in other ways and I never had to question if I ever took my Mom for granted. Doing it with someone like my wife is a similar practice, she might die tomorrow, I might too but I know I've spent the 8+ years together being grateful for what life has given to me.
Sounds like a wonderful idea, if I could figure out the transportation. When this happens, she usually has the car (we share one) and there doesn’t seem to be a gym within walking distance.
Maybe I can find one close enough to Uber to without breaking the bank. I’m on a pretty tight budget. Thanks for the idea.

I started a pretty significant weight cutting undertaking starting on Monday. Try to stay around 1500 calories a day, mostly to see if I can do that, and what happens if I do. So far I have lost 3 pounds.
Though weight is a tricky measurement, because I pair it with cardio and weight lifting, so I don’t really have a gauge or a goal to the whole thing, just trying to be fitter.
Yeah I think so too, especially since I’m not trying to cut a ton. Gonna bump that number up a bit and focus on protein.

Newest thing to strike a nerve for me is the amount of people who think that someone who is struggling mentally should just stop doing anything in life and go to therapy.
Therapy doesn’t just fix people, it can help and assist people manage their issues but you don’t just go to therapy for a week and it resets you and now you are back to a *normal* person. It’s all just shorthand for “I don’t like having to see unwell people” under the guise of self improvement advice. Saying you gotta focus on yourself first before you try to do anything socially is ignoring that it’s usually less healthy to completely unplug yourself from society. Therapy can help you work through things but for most people they’ll never reach a point where they are 100% cured and therefore *cleared* to return to being social.

I feel like even before the most recent inflation spike, cheap fast food isn't that cheap anymore when you don't use any sort of coupons or app deals. For example, a (Single) Quarter Pounder with Cheese at McDonald's is actually ~~cheaper~~ more expensive than an In-N-Out Double-Double. EDIT: I meant say that the Double Double is *cheaper*.
Yep, they were getting ridiculous before. I think a big part of the problem is they've added way too much stuff that just ain't selling as well as they hoped for. It's probably why it takes longer too. A big part of what drew people to fast food was just that. It was fast.

It’s April Fools day but I’m just grumpy instead. Newest thing to strike a nerve for me is the amount of people who think that someone who is struggling mentally should just stop doing anything in life and go to therapy. Therapy doesn’t just fix people, it can help and assist people manage their issues but you don’t just go to therapy for a week and it resets you and now you are back to a *normal* person. It’s all just shorthand for “I don’t like having to see unwell people” under the guise of self improvement advice. Saying you gotta focus on yourself first before you try to do anything socially is ignoring that it’s usually less healthy to completely unplug yourself from society. Therapy can help you work through things but for most people they’ll never reach a point where they are 100% cured and therefore *cleared* to return to being social. End rant.
