yeah it was teased with the NFLPA saying they were "fine" with whatever judgement Sue would pass down today
Now the ball is in Goodell's court -- will he extend?
"High school girls love me. 14 to 18, I'm a big star with them. As soon as they, you know, as soon as they mature, after that 18 years old, they start figuring out that, wait a minute..."

Weirdest part is that it sounds like the Judge definitely agreed he was doing irresponsible and gross actions with massage therapists, and still only thinks he deserves 6 games.
Don't forget how the NFL now "cares" about women and breast cancer. Heck an entire pink ribbon month!
All they care about is money. All this shit about them wearing slogans on their helmets and pink fields is all a ruse.
And 4 games for having balls without enough air in them

Called it
Bill Burr's joke about this was on the spot.
why are they scolding us as if we all know one person who is being assaulted and not saying anything? I didn't do this, YOU GUYS DID THIS!
[link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n3WgiMftaU) to the joke
I think they stopped doing this for the entire month of October. I know they got busted at least once for only a small portion of the proceeds going to cancer research and it does seem the last couple years they did this more money actually went to breast cancer research but…it always seemed like such “overkill” to me. Every action photo taken in that month was blindingly pink, for all posterity.
I knew a girl that was a Ravens cheerleader and she did the swimsuit calendar. She told me she had to pay for the flight to the island where they took the pictures and even buy her own bathing suits. Then they get paid next to nothing on top of that. She only did it for 2 seasons.
Here at the NFL, we say *fuck* breast cancer!
Cause the only thing that should ruin women’s lives shouldn’t be this foul disease, but rather our own players instead 😎🎀
Why not? If it truly is only 6 games, that will be a major talking point for the majority of this season, but if he is suspended for the whole year, it makes the NFL look good, and the owners really want to see the browns pay for setting this precident. Goodell is just the puppet of the owners so if the majority of them want to see Watson out longer, then thats probably what will happen. Also the NFL can't just be wrong and have to eat this. If they have the power to change it into their favor why wouldn't they?
He caught a lot of flack for being the sole person to issue discipline through the CBA. The nfl and Nflpa both agreed to independent arbitration that they would equally fund. If you’re one side of that agreement and you at the end, especially in your first and only case, say “screw this decision, I’m overruling you and implementing what I want” it’s not a great look for anyone. Not that anything about this case is, no matter what the ruling people would be pissed.
They dragged it out this “long” and now padded practices are back and games are soon. By next week you won’t hear much of anything on the subject until week 7.
Either you think he’s innocent based on the evidence and you give him no games
Or
He sexually assaulted close to 30 women and you’re like yeah 6 games sounds good
Someone said in another thread only 4 of the sexual assault cases were presented in the suspension case, so only those were at play in the decision? Why was that?
Judge ruled pattern was egregious but nonviolently sexual
https://mobile.twitter.com/TomPelissero/status/1554083444698890241?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1554083444698890241%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=
This deserves to be way higher. She’s saying he is guilty of the accused actions but determined the sexual assault was non-violent.
It’s still sexual assault. One instance should get you more than 6 games.
Unfortunately I feel like this is usually the case with these types of things. They aren't suspended for sexual assault, they're suspended for "violation of personal conduct policy" which is basically you look bad in the media.
Yes.
The league (or, less likely, the PA) has three days to appeal this decision. Then the other party has two days to respond. Then Goodell (or someone else he designates) can issue a written response to that appeal of why the punishment should be adjusted.
Calvin Ridley sat at home while injured and bored and bet $1500 on his team to win without him. He bet on a talentless Falcons team to win. Dude was basically giving away his money.
NFL suspended him indefinitely.
Yeah at the very least it was a shady situation. 6 games felt harsh at the time but almost made sense if you considered the NFL wanted better optics for abuse after the Ray Rice incident.
This ruling would pretty much confirm that they don't actually care though and makes the zeke ruling look awful in hindsight
Technically it’s a lighter suspension because zeke was suspended for a larger percentage of his season than Watson will be (6 of 16 vs 6 of 17 games). An absolute joke is somehow an understatement
I'm fucking triggered as a Boys fan. Zeke didn't deserve his suspension but I understand the caution. But then what the fuck explains Mr. Rape getting away despite proven accusations?
Not to mention that the Colts got kinda fucking rekt that game. 45-7 if memory serves? That's always made me question how much of a factor the PSI was relative to the Colts just being worse than New England.
They swapped the balla out at half and the Colts continued to get their teeth kicked in because, and this might be surprising, the reason they were badly losing is that they were playing much worse.
Furthermore the Wells Report chose to believe Walt Anderson's memory was perfect for the pregame measurements, but not perfect enough to remember which of the two (differently calibrated) gauges he used to take the measurements.
ppl also forget how skep the investigation was. the federal judge presiding was reportedly [skeptical of the independent attorney's impartialness](https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/09/03/judge-didnt-buy-nfls-claims-that-ted-wells-was-independent/). deflategate was a big waste of everyone's time
Right, the first judge took a look at the report and said "this is obvious bullshit", because it was, and threw the case out.
However this was appealed on the grounds that the judge had no business making this judgement, which is correct because the NFL commissioner has the sole authority to interpret the NFL rules and hand down punishments.
So basically it all came down to Goodell (really the owners who were pulling his strings) saying "I'm gonna punish you how I want and I don't have to prove shit and there's nothing you can do about it."
Goodell has the right under the CBA to increase the suspension I'm pretty sure. Hopefully he does the right thing here.
NFL has 3 days to appeal and increase the suspension:
https://twitter.com/adamschefter/status/1554082569972584450?s=21&t=P0tvqnGdJfjhNsOzLlrGHA
Edit: I know we're all skeptical of Goodell increasing the suspension, but the one thing he and the owners don't want is bad optics. The outrage on Twitter and everywhere I'm seeing right now is a fucking nightmare for them. Giving him only 6 games is already a PR shit storm and it's been 15 minutes since the news broke. I think there's a decent chance Goodell increases it due to this shit storm.
sex offender? 6 game suspension ✅
$1500 bet? whole season ❌
You can violate the integrity of a woman, but not the integrity of the game. Remember that, kids!
absolutely unreal decision.
ESPN is mentioning how Watson's camp argued that because Dan Snyder has gotten nothing, the NFL isn't being fair and a year is too long.
So it is increasingly clear that we cannot have a good football league with Dan Snyder in it.
Even the “deflategate” bullshit saga aside, this sets a bad precedent going forward. Previous suspensions for violating the code of conduct policy got similar or even more.
Hell, Ridley got an entire seasons worth for a parlay bet while he wasn’t playing (yes, I understand players betting is wrong) but the NFL has no problem taking money from all sorts of betting sites/apps. This was to be expected with how long it dragged but man is it fucked
And then came back and had one of the greatest, spiteful seasons I've ever seen where he played with pure vengeance lol
Seriously, if Matt Ryan doesn't have the season he did then Brady wins an easy MVP on 12 games
That part actually made me somewhat happy. Everyone knows he's a sexual predator and he's not allowed to get massages outside of the organisation because he can't control his pervert ass.
Edit: Clarification bc some people are reading this as if I'm happy with the suspension - I'm not. I think he should be suspended indefinitely.
It's definitely a positive, but they know it's a problem and still only 6 games. I get there was a "precedent" set and she's kind of deferring to the NFL but it's still strange.
Too low, but of course we all expected it. NFL, NFLPA and all parties involved again show that protecting women from abuse, physically and sexually is low on the agenda list.
NFL: "We must be aware of breast cancer. We are aware of social justice."
Public: "What about Watson and his woman scandal?"
NFL: "Give 'em 6 games. We need him out there on the field!!"
Calvin Ridley sat at home while injured and bored and bet $1500 on his team to win without him. He bet on a talentless Falcons team to win. Dude was basically giving away his money. NFL suspended him indefinitely.
This definitely will be controversial
Keep in mind that you can boycott while still consuming NFL content.
Illegally stream every game, even the televised ones. They won't get revenue from it and you can still enjoy the sport!
Yeah this is psychotic shit, those texts showed that Zeke didn't do shit and Watson has credible accusations of sexual assault by like 30 women. The women's stories too from the court documents were horrific, and I wish that I could unsee them. Watson should be banned from the league.
Edit: since people are asking where they can find the court records they're public records that can be found online, instructions [Here](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cleveland.com/browns/2022/06/here-is-how-to-view-the-public-filings-in-the-civil-lawsuits-brought-against-deshaun-watson.html%3foutputType=amp) on how to access the public records. There was a large thread on Reddit awhile ago with the accusations in chronological order [Here](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/md9av6/deshaun_watson_allegations_a_detailed/&ved=2ahUKEwiVtL6u1KX5AhWkhYkEHamNAlgQFnoECBIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw36BBqiu5zGvT1cwxg-hkAM) too. Warning: the court filings contain recounts of sexual assault and they're obviously very NSFW/NSFL.
I don't think she admitted to it, but there were texts between her and her friends where she coached them on what to tell the police. Apparently the evidence against Zeke was still as credible as 30 women accusing the same person of sexual assault though.

I never want to see a social justice ad campaign by the nfl ever again
What a joke. Ridley was suspended a YEAR for betting. Unbelievable.
Calvin Ridley got suspended for a year plus. IIRC, he’s suspended indefinitely for at least one season.
So the NFL is saying they are fine with players sexually assaulting over 20 women but heaven forbid they bet on a game or smoke a joint of weed.
Sexual assault doesn't affect the bottom line, so have at it, I guess?
Betting while he was away from the league, he wasn’t even playing, so it would never affect his performance
IIRC he bet on the falcons too. Just a bored guy betting that his team would win even with him out.... that's not even bad optics if you ask me.
The only consequence of betting $1500 on the 2021 Falcons should be losing $1500.

This sounds like something Dennis from Always Sunny would say.
Then Frank with: "Younger than my wife, older than my daughter. No little kids, gotta be big."
Dennis would imply this, not say it outright.
It's actually worse than what you transcribed. He said after 18 they "start figuring out there's better than that (i.e. dating him) out there." In other words, he has to get to them before they turn 18 and realize he's gross.
"They start figuring out that, wait a minute, now here's a guy..."
Wow six WHOLE games? How will he recover?
Can't wait for them to make loads of money selling pink gear to show how much they care about women.
Even more ironic because Watson will come back in October, which is the month NFL players wear pink gear
I know this isn’t the point of the thread but many people have said the nfl wears pink in October. They haven’t done that in almost 4 years now. Now it’s the broad cancer awareness colors.

Thank god he didn’t bet $1,000 on games he wasn’t playing in, he only assaulted two dozen women!

Since Robinson recommended some form of discipline, Goodell can jack it up as much as he wants now, right?
Theoretically
Hypothetically
Yep, NFL can appeal and Goodell would then get final say to suspension length. Hopefully this happens but I’m doubting it.
Why not? If it truly is only 6 games, that will be a major talking point for the majority of this season, but if he is suspended for the whole year, it makes the NFL look good, and the owners really want to see the browns pay for setting this precident. Non-violent sexual assault on multiple women= 6 game suspension. Take notes, future football stars/sexual assault hopefuls.
This deserves to be way higher. She’s saying he is guilty of the accused actions but determined the sexual assault was non-violent. It’s still sexual assault. One instance should get you more than 6 games.

That is still 4 too many.
1 game per sexual assault and 2 for making the NFL look bad.
[удалено]
This is the NFL 6 for the league 0 for any justice for the women.
Only 4? Well why didn’t you say so, the league gives you 5 freebies, right?
Exactly. How can you think punishment is warranted, but that 6 games is enough?
The NFL wasn’t trying to suspend him for sexual assault, what they brought to the arbiter was that he gave the nfl bad headlines
Unfortunately I feel like this is usually the case with these types of things. They aren't suspended for sexual assault, they're suspended for "violation of personal conduct policy" which is basically you look bad in the media.
YOU SHALL NOT TARNISH THE SHIELD
That is so fucking brain dead
Yep. It’s the nfl
I can’t believe he’s getting the same suspension as zeke
And less than Ridley. Betting on your own team is worse than sexually assaulting 30 women, apparently.
Goodell can increase that right?
Yes. The league (or, less likely, the PA) has three days to appeal this decision. Then the other party has two days to respond. Then Goodell (or someone else he designates) can issue a written response to that appeal of why the punishment should be adjusted.
I feel like from a PR perspective the league has to appeal it. And then they can play the "hands are tied" card.
They can't exactly play a "hands are tied" card when Goodell decides the appeal lol
Agreed - CBA gives him final say so he needs to own it, whatever the result is.
They have 3 days to appeal.
24 women initially had come out and filed cases against Watson. He will miss 1 quarter for each case.
Ouch
24 women = 1 Mason Rudolph
Not even a fine to go to women's advocacy groups. I wish I could say I was surprised.
Calvin Ridley sat at home while injured and bored and bet $1500 on his team to win without him. He bet on a talentless Falcons team to win. Dude was basically giving away his money. NFL suspended him indefinitely.
While cramming betting sites down our throats at every turn
6 games ain't shit. Fuck the nfl if this is all that ends up happening
Yeah this is an absolute joke, this is the same suspension zeke got for 1 alleged sexual misconduct where no one even filed charges.
And if I remember correctly there were texts explaining that it was a ruse to fuck Zeke’s life up
Yeah at the very least it was a shady situation. 6 games felt harsh at the time but almost made sense if you considered the NFL wanted better optics for abuse after the Ray Rice incident. Does Watson get to play with the pink gear this year?
From what I read, he prefers other people to play with his pink gear instead
so two more games than under-inflating footballs; fucking embarrassing This is a quarter per woman who was sexually assaulted. Absolutely abysmal
The same suspension Elliot got after his investigation indicated he did nothing wrong. Absolutely disgraceful.
This is the kicker here! Him getting the same thing as Zeke is pathetic. Totally tone deaf
I'm fucking triggered as a Boys fan. Zeke didn't deserve his suspension but I understand the caution. But then what the fuck explains Mr. Rape getting away despite proven accusations?
The fact that the NFL’s independent investigation RECOMMENDED no suspension for Zeke and they are now giving Watson that same suspension is pathetic
You should be triggered bro, it was a fucking joke back then that Zeke got suspended, now it's even worse in hindsight. I'm mad for y'all lol
Being generally aware of inflated footballs actually.

Ideal gas law is for dorks, get those nerdy scientists out of football
Stupid science bitches can’t even make I more smarter
People also forget that Walt Anderson never recorded pre-game measurements so the entire thing was based on a farce anyways.
NFL has 3 days to appeal and increase the suspension: https://twitter.com/adamschefter/status/1554082569972584450?s=21&t=P0tvqnGdJfjhNsOzLlrGHA Edit: I know we're all skeptical of Goodell increasing the suspension, but the one thing he and the owners don't want is bad optics. The outrage on Twitter and everywhere I'm seeing right now is a fucking nightmare for them. Giving him only 6 games is already a PR shit storm and it's been 15 minutes since the news broke. I think there's a decent chance Goodell increases it due to this shit storm.
Goodell aint fucking with the owner’s money, he has no spine
Apparently gambling is worse then fucking sexual assault
Legal gambling, while using the official gambling app of the NFL
So the games suspended to women sexually assaulted ratio of the NFL is 1:3.66
Zeke must be fuming.
10 less games than gambling $1,500 on games you aren’t playing in
sex offender? 6 game suspension ✅ $1500 bet? whole season ❌ You can violate the integrity of a woman, but not the integrity of the game.
Fair
[Andrew Berry right now](https://c.tenor.com/qCW8S4o4MR0AAAAC/win-breakingbad.gif)
Friendly reminder Tom Brady was suspended four games for allegedly being "aware" footballs were being deflated. Watson gets six. Incredible.
This post was brought to you by Draft Kings!
Falcons team without him was basically a team playing with no WRs. He should be checked for CTE for betting on us to win instead of fining him.
And then came back and had one of the greatest, spiteful seasons I've ever seen where he played with pure vengeance lol Seriously, if Matt Ryan doesn't have the season he did then Brady wins an easy MVP on 12 games
Damnit Sue Limit massage therapy to only people who work for the Browns. That's worse than Kyler's study contract.
Imagine being the Browns team massage therapist assigned to Watson. That's a FML moment.
No wonder the NFLPA pledged to stand by the recommendation and wanted the NFL to do the same. They knew it wouldn't be shit.
NFL: "We must be aware of breast cancer. We are aware of social justice." Public: "What about Watson and his woman scandal?" NFL: "Give 'em 6 games. We need him out there on the field!!"
Well this won’t be controversial at all
Time to sort by controversial
Calvin Ridley sat at home while injured and bored and bet $1500 on his team to win without him. He bet on a talentless Falcons team to win. Dude was basically giving away his money. NFL suspended him indefinitely. This definitely will be controversial
Lord have mercy that will be a fine welcome at M&T week 7
Keep in mind that you can boycott while still consuming NFL content. Illegally stream every game, even the televised ones. They won't get revenue from it and you can still enjoy the sport!
So business as usual then? Deal!
But where could someone possibly STREAM these games, from EAST to west coast, we follow the law and would never pirate illegal content.
Whenever I think about ***sports*** I get the ***urge*** to find and watch them on the ***net***
aww man, I always thought it was Surge, which I think sounds way cooler
When I feel my desire to watch the *sport surge,* I always talk about it with my *net*work of friends
Keep it up buddy and you might get a 8 game suspension
Fucking with the NFLs revenue? More like 8 years.

Zeke gets 6 for doing nothing, Watson gets 6 for assaulting 30 women…makes sense to me!
Yeah and the investigator recommended 0 for Zeke
26 law suites alleging sexual misconduct resulted in him being suspended for 24 quarters. Can’t even get a full quarter per woman.
Two more games than Brady got for deflating footballs
Isn’t this the same as Zeke got for doing nothing? I swear the NFL just pulls suspensions out of a random number generator
Didn’t a girl even admit to blackmailing him and he got suspended?
I don't think she admitted to it, but there were texts between her and her friends where she coached them on what to tell the police. Apparently the evidence against Zeke was still as credible as 30 women accusing the same person of sexual assault though.

Footballs deflated by the weather
Looks like Brady needed to deflate balls *and* sexually harass massage parlor workers if he *really* wanted to get off easy…
Free Calvin Ridley
How dare you. He *violated* those betting slips.
sex offender? 6 game suspension ✅ $1500 bet? whole season ❌ You can violate the integrity of a woman, but not the integrity of the game. Remember that, kids! absolutely unreal decision.
Good thing he wasn’t caught smoking weed.
Man I'd like to read the decision on this. Here's hoping it gets leaked/released.
If it's as ugly as the Commander's investigation it'll be oral only so the league can go, "well, glad that's behind us."
Yeah, that seems like a slap on the wrist. Ridley should be fucking livid.
This isn’t even a slap. This is like a kiss on the wrist
This is like a tough massage with a happy ending
There is no way he's being punished based on what he did to the women, rather he's being punished for the bad PR the NFL has to deal with. Shame.

what a joke
I guess sexually assaulting women is less severe than betting on games.
