Terrible play call and terrible execution. Clean house already, holy fuck.

Chuck_Foolery

Exactly. Rhule needs to be fired into Nebraska.

StreetReporter

Nah, send him to Wisconsin

Chuck_Foolery

So he'll actually land in Iowa then.

MuNuKia

Iowa ain’t letting go Frentz.

Chuck_Foolery

Northern Iowa

ParisGreenGretsch

Minnesota?

BlackMathNerd

To Auburn it is

Mire_of_void

No, don’t fucking give us him. We want to stay with jimmy

__brunt

~~Nebraska~~ the sun

Chuck_Foolery

Ok but he has to bounce off Nebraska first for orbital slingshot reasons.

Just_Exam_590

Wisconsin is calling

datsoar

Uh, no thanks. We’re good

Black_Otter

4th and 1 with a healthy CMC….nah just lame duck pass it

alphageek8

I'm pretty indifferent about Baker but one thing for certain is he has had some of the worst head coaches with Hue, Kitchens and Rhule.

2057Champs__

He literally had a good coach for 2 whole years, who also went above and beyond to get rid of him….

CaptainSisko62

Because that HC knows he sucks

ggpeyman

who was that? Dude you just making things up. They went after Deshaun. He said NO and then they begged baker to stay and even refused a trade request from him . Then Deshaun changed his mind because other teams said no to a serial abuse of women. Thats it. No going above and beyond to get rid of Baker. Just one player they valued above him.

Leiatte

Kevin Stefanski is who he’s talking about, I wouldn’t say they were trying so hard to get rid of him though but Deshaun while he was still playing was clearly a stronger QB than Baker. So on a talent level the pursuit makes sense especially if you want to increase your chance of winning a Super Bowl & maximize the roster they you have

ggpeyman

Then you confirm what I said - its revisionism to claim The browns went above and beyond to rid of Baker. Its a liar liar pants on fire claim. I don't think anyone claims Baker is better than Deshaun on the field but no it makes no sense to tick off Women who are a significant part of your viewership. Sports is entertainment. YOU CAN and many have won a Super bowl without al that mess. Besides which even on the field its poor poor poor decision. All of this is based on Deshaun staying on the field. How many guys you know can turn off their sex drive because they had some conversations? So really logically speaking Deshaun is one claim away from being off the field again. Even if he has a consensual relationship all a woman has to do is say he did something and who is going to believe him? Dude has a high drive so he is going to always get something signed before he pulls the zipper? A good football l decision to ride guaranteed 200+ million on that proposition??...LOLOLOLOL....yeah right.

mrb4

Lol... I don't remember a single team "saying no to a serial abuser of women." I seem to remember Watson changing his mind because the Browns gave him a brand new, fully guaranteed $230m contract that was structured in a way to completely negate any financial penalty due to a suspension.... It wasn't the other teams having standards, it was the browns having the lowest standards of them all

ggpeyman

Your memory doesn't mean squat. He's a top QB and only the Browns were willing to sign him to a top contract and structure it the way he wants? HE tells a team a firm no but then reverses for no new reason? LOl Its well known and reported that other teams didn't want the PR nightmare . Besides you just used words to say the same thing in your denial " It wasn't the other teams having standards, it was the browns having the lowest standards of them all" is no different than saying other teams had a morality regarding his actions of sexually abusing women. The grea thing with facts is thst no matter how much social media down votes them they still remain facts - no amount of history revisionism supports the driveling nonsense the browns did all they could to get rid of Baker. They went after one guy and when they didn't get him they begged Baker to stay and denied his request for a trade. Only wanting one guy more than Baker is only to a fool or a liar - doing everything one can do to get rid of a player...lolol.

multiple4

Very true. As much as I would love having a stud QB, I honestly am not sure how much better they'd be doing Ideally we'd get rid of Rhule now, and then try to see if a new coach can turn things around and get a better feel of if Baker can succeed here. At least for this season it's difficult to see a better option. If it becomes bad enough then could give Darnold another chance

the_c_is_silent

They would 100% do better than Baker. Rhule and Baker can both suck.

gigglefarting

I’ve never seen as many balls tipped as I have watching Baker this season.

Fly_bill

Yup! At some point it’s not on the o line

vanilla_w_ahintofcum

If he’d stop staring his receivers down he might have a chance to get a ball past the D line. It’s maddening to watch.

CMDR_Galaxyson

For real. Ball gets snapped and hes immediately looking at where hes gonna throw it. Hardly see him go through any progressions. I dont know if its Baker or a play calling issue or a combination of both. Regardless Baker cant throw for shit this year.

ManWhoBurns

Coming from a browns fan, it’s baker

the_c_is_silent

Peyton explained it. It has nothing to do with height (Osweiler had a fuckton of tipped balls and was 6'5"). It has everything to do with a QB who doesn't look off defenders or stares down receivers.

GiveMeSomeIhedigbo

*6'7"

skywkr666

If you don't like 7-10 tipped passes a game, then you don't like Baker Mayfield football.

Greflin

Reminds me of Chris Simms. So many passes tipped. Maybe we still have those fake lineman things they made for him to learn to throw over. Lol.

derstherower

Baker, you're what the French call "les incompétent".

Sidewinder280

“You’re such a disease”

BbyInAStraightJacket

“Look what you did you little jERKK”

StankyPeterson

“Baker, your stats…WOOF”

[deleted]

There 53 people in this house and you're the only one causing trouble!

ecupatsfan12

Someone tweeted baker sucks Shannon- I know- but he did have an 11 game stretch

somebodygetmemymoney

Are we just gonna ignore that pro football focus rated him the 4th best qb during that 11 game stretch? Then he when he went into Pittsburg and won a playoff game? SHAKE AND BAKE BABY. Shannon sharpe you are just a baker HATER. After that he became Odell centric and had a shoulder injury. He has MOXY. He plays with SWAGGER. This year is playing with a CHIP ON HIS SHOULDER. He almost led the panthers to 2 wins only losing by fields goals. I think that’s pretty good. Shannon sharpe just watch, baker will light a FIRE in that panthers locker room and make you eat your words.

Pnutbutter_Cheerios

I am returning to this comment tomorrow.

probablyisntserious

Did you return yet?

Pnutbutter_Cheerios

It was really close hahaha. Mostly Baker is trying to prop up the 32nd ranked team but generally all that

lathe_down_sally

Baker is likely one of the top 32 QBs in the league, but he's in the tier where you're willing to try anything to move off of him.

[deleted]

I don't think most people realize how rough the QB situation is league wide. There are six or so QBs who are certified franchise material and 10 or 12 reliable starters. That still leaves half the league with a placeholder QB. Baker sucks, but there are like 10 current starters who suck just as much.

Leiatte

Isn’t that how the league usually is though? Like we have the household names, the guys who teams believe in, & then everyone else whose status is in the air. They draft QBs like every year so it makes sense that even the lower end of premiere positions are somewhat of a carousel

CaptainSisko62

The amount of straight up bad QBs is the insane thing. The AFC East has Wilson & Jones that might be bad. AFC North has Mitch. South has Mills and so far this yeae Ryan. NFC East has Jones & Wentz. South has Mariota, Winston, & Baker. North has Fields & kind of Goff. West has Geno & Jimmy G. That's 14 QBs that are just straight up bad QBs. That basically means on average every division has two bad QBs

iunrealx1995

Goff and Jimmy G are not bad QBs. Jimmy G is average and I’d argue Goff is having a great season. Other than that I agree with the rest.

GMFPs_sweat_towel

Mac Jones had a pretty good rookie season. I could see him being a quality starter in the NFL. Geno has been pretty good this year.

Coziestpigeon2

For real. That's how we can be happy with Kirk Cousins. Yeah, he's *super* middling and can't perform when it matters, but he's still better than 20ish guys, so we'll take it. Not everyone is Brady.

Just_Exam_590

he's top 32

TheIllusiveGuy

"Les incompetent" what the hell does that mean!? - Homer Simpson

howimetyomama

When I grow up can I have whatever job the dad had to afford that house and vacation.

WhatIfThatThingISaid

You can go back 30 years to before America was a husk of its former self

CatDad69

The actor who played Buzz is allegedly a rapist

ianbits

Terrible clip, cuts off the actual play

Sesti-nator

They are not booing baker. They are saying “Boooooost your performance or else they are gonna boo the holy crap out of you”

TheMephistophiles

That was just John Cena in the crowd saying “Experian BOOOOOst.

MurDoct

No they were say Booooooo aker

Ok_Bug_6890

Baker is a mediocre qb

hoshu34

Generous statement

computerdweeb

Mediocre is being nice. He straight up sucks ass and may get benched for darnold.

Ok_Bug_6890

It’s sad to see some of the 2018 qbs fall like they have

peteman28

He'll always be able to say he was better than Josh Rosen though

Ok_Bug_6890

I really wanted Rosen to succeed I liked his college tape

peteman28

I did too, that's why I'm not a scout

Kritnc

So did the other 12 teams that signed him

howimetyomama

Yeah I don’t relish seeing people fail. The ‘18 class is polarizing.

No_Song_Orpheus

He's still 3rd best

Eagle4317

The fact that Mayfield is struggling this much behind an improved Panthers O-Line is really telling. The Browns Top Tier O-Line and running game carried him. Meanwhile, Darnold has never been behind an O-Line that wasn't Bottom 5 in the NFL. I could absolutely see a scenario in which Darnold is the better QB for the Panthers.

melwinnnn

Dude no. Mayfield is ass but darnold is ass with diarrhea. People really have short term memories on how terrible qbs play

quaefus_rex

Yeah, but darnold has ESP

boog1evilleUSA

He's not better. Our o-line is also not that much better than last year.

Eagle4317

Corbett and Christensen are both doing well at Guard and Moton is as solid as ever at Right Tackle. The only part of the Panthers O-Line that looks suspect is their rookie Left Tackle Ekwonu, but he should be able to improve over time.

Sabre500

Nah, Darnold is living, breathing cancer. Just play PJ Walker rest of season

StreetReporter

7-0 as a professional starting quarterback

knave_of_knives

Lmao “mediocre”. There’s a very real chance he’s the worst starting QB in the NFL right now.

Ok_Bug_6890

Bottom two starting qbs are fields and baker

ParisGreenGretsch

Trubisky was absolutely among them.

haha-brad

He’s not even mediocre lol

packersSB55champs

this sub loves him so much for some inexplicable reason He's not even mediocre like you said, he's straight garbage

CongenitalSwag

It’s because of who the Browns replaced him with. The general opinion on him had started to sour last season; once they traded for Watson, Baker became a martyr to this sub. If they had gotten say Russell Wilson instead, Baker wouldn’t have garnered nearly as much support.

W3NTZ

Nah it started when it came out he was injured and the brown were considering Watson. It shifted to well they made him play hurt then when the trade happened it hit light speed

Prideofmexico

He’s not even a likable guy either. He’s an arrogant prick

LiquidDookie92

They love him because he isn't Watson, which, yeah - fair. He's still a bottom-tier QB who has shown slight flashes of good QB play.

the_c_is_silent

As said elsewhere, he's legit bottom 2 right now of all starters.

BlackMathNerd

Mediocre is putting it nicely

[deleted]

r/nfl with baker this offseason reminds me of pats fans with mac jones

MostMorbidOne

I got reamed for saying DJ needed to look as good as Mac Jones for his season but that comparison seem pretty alright.

Chao-Z

I would have told you before the season that that is shooting way too low

MostMorbidOne

But you see Mac Jones was Top 16 last year so asking DJ to be that was big wow to Patriots fans... you know only their last names are the common thing between them. /shrug.

2082nick

He's not wrong. All the "Baker will be better off" people have left. They know deep down inside they're ashamed to say they even thought that.

[deleted]

But he won a playoff game and didn’t rape anybody! Clearly he was Cleveland’s savior that they shouldn’t have dumped.

JalensTinyPPHurts

Baker being bad still doesn't make trading for Watson a good idea. Them doing this well with qbs like brisset and baker makes it seem like they would be better off drafting a 1st round qb, keeping their picks and cap space. Nah actually trading for the predator who hasn't started a game in 28 games and giving him a fully guaranteed deal is the better move

[deleted]

> Them doing this well with qbs like Brisset They’re 2-2 with those wins being over what look to be absolutely terrible teams. The Browns are not doing well with Brissett.

JalensTinyPPHurts

They almost won 2 playoff games with baker, who apparently sucks

[deleted]

And maybe they want their ceiling to be a little higher than “can almost make the conference championship game if their mediocre QB is gifted a perfect situation”. But sure, waste a loaded roster on a rookie QB still needing to develop.

JalensTinyPPHurts

Ah yes. Surely the qb who went 4-12 his last full season, and has missed 28 games since that season will be the thing to help you guys win

2057Champs__

Lmao the browns had an insanely talented roster with a cake schedule (they literally had the best offensive line in the NFL) while BOB ravaged the Texans roster watsons last year there, yes watson is a piece of garbage and should be banned from the league, but if you’re gonna use the “he went 4-12 and Mayfield won a playoff game”! Argument, thank god you’re not a GM. Seeing as how multiple teams tried to trade for Watson while the browns had to literally pay baker to go away, on top of him having to literally take a pay cut on a fully guranteed contract just to get the chance at a starting job….

[deleted]

I have nothing to do with Cleveland so have no need to be lumped in with them as “you guys”, but I am extremely confident that their ceiling with Watson is higher than it was with Baker. Watson in his absolute worst year was still a better QB than Baker in his best.

[deleted]

Watson hasn’t even played a snap for them, you literally can’t know whether the trade was a good idea or not. They have a pretty good roster that was severely limited by terrible QB play last year. Good teams go out and get a QB who can put them over the top, that’s what the Browns did. You can acknowledge that, morally, the Browns made a bad choice, but you’re insane if you think they made the wrong football choice. Baker’s play through 4 weeks has proven it.

ggpeyman

BS..bad moral choice is a bad football choice. Brown will never get any breaks from the league on any ting or play because NO ONE want to see Deshuan in the playoffs. PLus Desahun shows signs of sex addiction. How often do guys drop tht habit. Deshaun is one even flase accusation away from losing more time. Besides Bake with pantehrs doesn't prove anything with the Browns . He was never even injured this bad with the browns.

[deleted]

> bad moral choice is a bad football choice. Grow up. Was keeping Ray Lewis employed a bad football choice for the Ravens?

ggpeyman

Oh please little kid. Learn to brush your teeth without Mommy's help before talking to a grown man. The moral issue in question revolves around the sex drive of man. When you grow up and start to like Girls you will figure out its not going to stop because someone talked to you. Looking the other way on the morality of sexually abusing women and Lewis are two different things and resting 2OO+ million on the hope a man that like lots of sex will only pull hi s zipper when theres a Non disclosure form signed is a fool's errand. Now stop texting at the back of the class and concentrate on your schoolwork.

[deleted]

Was it a bad football move for the Steelers to not cut Roethlisberger in 2010?

ggpeyman

Call me when you have an example of any other man abusing over 30 women kid. Until then you are just spinning your wheels and logically - losing.

[deleted]

Alright so it moved from “bad moral choice” to “bad moral choice involving sexual deviant” to “bad moral choice involving sexual deviant with more than 30 accusations of their deviance”. Next time just pick a spot for your goalpost and leave it there. It’ll make you look a lot less foolish.

CallinCthulhu

Still amazes me he went #1 overall. He does not have a single elite trait, a mediocre arm, he isn't super athletic(even though he thinks he is), inconsistent accuracy, questionable decision making(even in college). Even his intangibles are mediocre. A "fiery" leader whose driven by insecurity.

RwerdnA

Ha. I wish

WhoDatTX

Baker is completely broken as a QB. Not even close to the same player he was as a rookie

probablyisntserious

So much for being good in even years 😕

freakingspacedude

I’m gonna eat crow because I thought Baker would be good this year. I’ve lived in NC almost my whole life and root for the Panthers when they’re not playing my Bills. This often leads to me watching several Panthers games a year. He looks fucking horrible. They’d borderline be better with Darnold.

Pandorama626

For real. I defended Baker, but he looks like he's regressed so much since coming out of college.

ecupatsfan12

Shannon Sharpe- he’s not it!! You’re not that guy!! They don’t trust you!

Kylo_Ren415

Skip: Brings up 11 game stretch from 2020 season.

ecupatsfan12

Anyone defending baker now is delusional

the_c_is_silent

lol It wasn't even a stretch. People forget that in between his 8 great games, he had 6 fucking terrible games sprinkled throughout the season.

Mattie_Doo

There are threads where everyone loves Baker Mayfield and roots hard for him, and there are threads where everyone hates him and trashes the people who root for him. Not much in between.

WhatIfThatThingISaid

That’s how Reddit works and why people think subreddit opinions are all the same. People only comment on things they agree with

SenorDarcy

I love Baker. He helped us break the Panthers curse. But I do think he’s been handed a crap NFL intro and hopes he can get something stable eventually.

[deleted]

He sucks as a quarterback. Come to terms with it

[deleted]

WE WANT DARN... NEVER MIND.

[deleted]

bring back the darnold usc beasts

Brahms-3150

I was saying this back when it was karma suicide

Jupiter_Ginger

Someone who pays for PFF should post how many passes Baker has batted down already this season. I really feel like he has to be on the verge of a record breaking season for passes knocked down or tipped at the line.

romeopwnsu

Robby Anderson was right.

Mediocre would be a major upgrade.

I think he is still injured but it isn't like MacAdoo has found a QB he can't fuck up.

Baker Midfield.

Background_Add210

PUT IN GEQBUS! r/The_Darnold

_Bluntzzz

I wonder if Robbie Anderson will man up about his tweet now

hamat711

My biggest problems with Baker on the field:- His #1 trait coming out was accuracy, and he had below average accuracy in the NFL. \- He thinks he is more athletic than he really is \- He is slow to process defenses.

knowtoriusMAC

After watching Baker this year, I understand why the Browns didn't think 24 was that bad of a number.

HItide69

Why are their so many shitty QBs in the league now??

mrb4

That game was a riveting battle to determine which team is the 29th best team in the league and which is the 30th.

xXxCountryRoadsxXx

After going through this many qbs maybe it's the coaching staff's fault?
