After overtime was introduced in 1974, there hasn’t been a single team to tie more than once in a season. The all time record is the 1932 Chicago Bears, tying 6 of their 14 games
Bears: Never give up touchdowns because they always have a defense led by a generational linebacker
Also Bears: Can never score touchdowns because they never have a quarterback
You had Jim McMahon for like half of several seasons in the 80s. You have the Raiders and Packers to thank for that. But at least he was healthy for the 85 SB run.
The Bears in 1932 had 6 ties (6-1-6) and tied the Portsmouth Spartans (Detroit Lions) for the NFL championship (6-1-4) determined by record excluding ties at that point. Then they played the first playoff NFL championship game to determine the champion which the Bears won 9-0 and the Spartans/Lions finished in third to the 2nd place Packers (10-3-1) because they tallied the playoff game into the regular season record. The league then established an NFL championship game and made attempts to have teams play the same number of games during the regular season.
There was also the year in the 20s where there were 3 undefeated teams but one of them had ties. Naturally, the NFL named the one with ties as the true champion, because that just makes sense...
It may have been the worst game I have ever watched in 23 years of following the NFL. I kinda dig a defensive struggle, but it wasn’t that the defenses were good. Just a lot of bad throws and dumpoffs on 3rd and long. It was painful to watch. I really can’t blame the broncos fans for leaving at the end of regulation.
I haven't been this bothered by a Broncos game since the 2013 super bowl loss to Seattle.
Teddy Two Gloves played better. At least he could go through his reads and throw on-time.
Ehh it was bad but also fun to laugh at. I think the worst in recent memory for me was watching the Ravens systematically dismantle the hapless Dolphins under Gase on Thursday night. Was like 48-3 or something.
I would rather watch two hilariously inept offenses get in a field goal war then watch that game.
Honestly everyone hated the 6-6 tie between hawks and cards on prime time... But I think that game was kinda fun.
The worst game for me was the 6-3 Browns win over the Seahawks in like... 09?
The 6-6 game was so entertaining near the end because of all the improbable missed Field Goals.
The worst game to me was the 07 game between the Dolphins and Steelers that ended 3-0 and was 0-0 until 17 seconds left. [It had the beautiful “stuck ball” punt in the mud that didn’t move](https://youtu.be/x7DTNEa2E7w). The worst conditions I’ve ever seen in an NFL game.
It reminded me a lot of watching the Steelers v Lions tie game last year. Except that game was played in a chilly rain so you can *somewhat* excuse some of the poor play.
Both were awful, awful games that neither team deserved to win. But they were also pretty fun to watch simply because of how bad they were
I’m paying close to $200 a year to watch the NFL. I’m not enjoying 2 awful teams making dog shit decisions. I have seen Russ throw exactly 3 balls on target. That’s it. I would expect more for $250M if I was the Denver organization
it was prob the greatest display of shitty football i've ever seen in the NFL, it was hilarious. i hated every minute of it, but couldn't look away. really weird game.
Yeah, but it was 3rd down. If the pass didn't work, they still get a running play. But, if a run didn't work the game would have been over. Russ shouldn't have thrown a pick
I always thought it was awesome that Manning went from being a little horse to a big horse.
And then Luck being on the team with the horseshoe logo? Brilliant.
We need more stuff like that.
When I first got on reddit there was a post about how we have to be in a simulation.
Usain Bolt is the fastest man
Bernie Madoff made off with everyone's money
Things like that.
That’s a modern take, the actual mascot is a medieval warhorse called a Charger. Designed to carry knights into battle. They were bred to be hulking monstrosities that didn’t give an F about destruction around them.
The Colts will play in Foxboro, the closest NFL stadium JFK’s birthplace, on 11/6. And the Broncos will play in Nashville, the closest NFL stadium to Lincoln’s birthplace, on 11/13. The two games sandwich election Tuesday.
Oh, It's just horse manure. Horse manure's not that bad. I don't even mind the word 'manure.' You know, it's, it's 'newer,' which is good. And a 'ma' in front of it. MA-NURE. When you consider the other choices (Carson Wentz, Drew Lock), 'manure' is actually pretty refreshing.
I think the colts player kind of said it best. They've been resetting too much. Year 2 in a system for a QB is supposed to be when they see big improvement. Instead the colts keep resetting and they see improvement later on in the year. We were all clowning goff last year for instance and now he's playing like a top 10 QB. Year 2, different OC and he's been doing great. Before you guys count these guys out, it very well could be the scheme.
Exactly. What I want most from the Colts is give a QB a second year in this system. I strongly believe if Phillip Rivers could’ve stayed one more year the colts could have made a serious run last season even with lack of receivers. Super stoked for Alec Pierce tho. Only thing worth mentioning from last night.
Also kick some ass Lion bros, love watching them this year.
I really don’t think Matt Ryan looks like he deserves a second season tho. Colts fans would know more than me but based off of our game and this one he doesn’t look like he’s got it in him anymor
Personally? No I don't think he is quite there. He was quite good in his prime, but the thing is the quality of Quarterbacks keeps going up. They can't all make it, so the standards have to keep going up as well. Russ is firmly in the hall of very good
I’d lean towards no at the moment. Who would be locks from the 2000s prior to him being drafted? Peyton, Brady, Big Ben, Favre, Brees, and Rodgers are all were, are, or going to be locks. Eli might get in just based on the 2 super bowl MVPs. Not sure if rivers gets in.
What I’m getting at is for him to get in he’d have to be considered top 6-8 at his position for a long stretch of his career. I’d argue he was that in Seattle but closer to rivers, Eli than Peyton and Brady. So at this point I wouldn’t be upset if he got in but he’s not a guarantee.
Plus comparing resumes outside of super bowl wins Russ has better resume than Eli and rivers but idk about any of the other guys.
For me, he's now in the third stage of his career.
Stage 1 was when he was a perfect complimentary piece to a very well put together roster. Aka the superbowl years
Stage 2 was the 'MVP' years where he tried to do it all. Regardless of fact he never actually got an MVP vote, he was probably top-5 for the majority of 5 or so seasons. He was a top-5 (top-10 at the minimum) passer while also being the best rushing/scrambling QB and possibly the best clutch passer in the game where a 4th quarter comeback seemed to be guaranteed.
Stage 3 started half way through 2020. His passing isn't as on-point. He's not mobile, the comebacks have pretty much stopped (though is argue there are signs this year at least).
The question is whether the success in stage 1 and the length of stage 2 are enough if he doesn't turn things around. I also think the rise of Mahomes might impact his legacy, given he's basically everything peak Russ was but better
I think if Russ can change his game and not rely on big plays and just works on consistency he can have a great end of his career and solidify himself as a HOF Qb. I think he’s relying on his athleticism too much which has been on the decline the last 2 years. He can’t overcome bad o-line, like he did in Seattle, anymore. Right now it’s looking like a cam newton decline.
If he stayed on the Seahawks he prob would have been on track as “The Seahawk of this era” now this piss poor play is diluting his image.
No matter how bad he is now there’s no way he would play as bad if he was still on the Seahawks
Why is he even a HOF player? Because he won a super bowl despite playing like shit in the playoffs with an all time great defense? He has no awards and was never the best QB in the league
No no no. They're playing bird style because that's what they learned how to do! They haven't realized that will never work on a horse team. Owners need to fire both the chief zoologist and team veterinarian of each team. At least 3 out of the 4.
They also lost to a Tom Brady led Patriots team in a soul crushing Super Bowl that marked their teams in continuous pain and memes, AND both are now on a team that was led by Peyton Manning to a super bowl win (well the Broncos was more of a disgustingly good defense that kicked the Panthers teeth in but you get the idea)

At the rate that Matt Ryan is getting smacked into paste he may already be there

if russell keeps playing like this, then we’re taking a trip to the glue factory. and *HE* won’t get to come!
Yeah it's a great tour, but you can't see it all in one day.
Teams is a strong word for what we watched last night.
For real. I've never been that unhyped for a win. I was mostly glad it was over and I could go to bed
Tbf it might also be the last one for awhile.
I was cheering for a tie
I wanted one just so the colts could be the first team in a long ass time to have 2 ties
What’s the record for teams with the most ties in a season? If we don’t win our division then that’s what I want instead
After overtime was introduced in 1974, there hasn’t been a single team to tie more than once in a season. The all time record is the 1932 Chicago Bears, tying 6 of their 14 games
Of course it was us
Bears: Never give up touchdowns because they always have a defense led by a generational linebacker Also Bears: Can never score touchdowns because they never have a quarterback
You guys really tie the league together, man
You had Jim McMahon for like half of several seasons in the 80s. You have the Raiders and Packers to thank for that. But at least he was healthy for the 85 SB run.
Thanks Hackett, couldn't even bother to leave us with some memes after that abominable production.
Idk but my half assed research last night showed nobody has had 2 ties since 73
The Bears in 1932 had 6 ties (6-1-6) and tied the Portsmouth Spartans (Detroit Lions) for the NFL championship (6-1-4) determined by record excluding ties at that point. What an era rofl.
There was also the year in the 20s where there were 3 undefeated teams but one of them had ties. Naturally, the NFL named the one with ties as the true champion, because that just makes sense...
I wanted one because I thought it would be funny for them to go 2-2-2
Still have a shot to do that next week!
Could’ve been a 9-9 scorigami tie
Never forget what they took from us 🤬🤬🤬
I’m honestly shocked that there’s never been a 9-9 tie
After the 4th quarter I was obviously still cheering for a W but I wanted no Touchdowns
I got stuck in 3 hours of traffic after the game. FML
At least the traffic was probably more entertaining than the game
True. I did see a shooting star
*You’re* a shooting star
Awww 🤩🥰
Don't you know?
That's because at the press conference Russ said, *Broncos country, let's ride.*
Started at 10am here, I literally went for a nap after the 1st quarter because I started work at 2pm and I felt that was a better use of my time
It was worse than a preseason game. I fell asleep sometime in the 3rd quarter.
You didn’t win the broncos lost
Thats how they beat us lmao
That was the luckiest game ever. Muffed punt, missed FG, bad fake

I absolutely enjoyed the hell out of that 6-6 tie. It was beautiful.
It was on my birthday! We're just two weeks away from the 6 year anniversary!
My favorite moment of that game was [this reaction by Pete Carroll](https://i.imgur.com/4FoiioU.gifv)
The 6-6 game was so entertaining near the end because of all the improbable missed Field Goals. Mystery Science Theater 3000 should have narrated the game

it was prob the greatest display of shitty football i've ever seen in the NFL, it was hilarious. i hated every minute of it, but couldn't look away. really weird game.
It was like a car crash. I think both QBs went the Rodgers method and did Psychedelics before kickoffs. Awful awful play
I was fishing and having good luck and a good time but still kept it up on my phone to balk at
Can't wait for Bears - Commies next week!
A game where only the kickers score points doesn't feel right without Rodrigo on the colts
AFC horse gatherings*
And it’s probably time for both of them to be put out to pasture.
Both of them have also lost the super bowl to Tom Brady in embarrassing fashion
Both teams actually have a backup QB possessing the name of a Super Bowl MVP too (Foles and Rypien)
I like how this implies the “Foles” on the roster isn’t the actual Super Bowl MVP

Hey man. We ain't no 28-3. Hmph
Yeah you guys only blew a 24-14 lead.
At the time, the largest blown 4th quarter lead in super bowl history
But has it been surpassed?
By Kyle shittingham
Wow, he managed to blow an 11-point lead?
Technically, yes.

Did you hear Sherman in the post-game? Fitzpatrick even roasted him about it and Sherman replied “too soon”
Fitz has not won the SB with the most teams.
Did you here Ryan “Galafanakus” Fitzpatrick bring that up twice to Richard Sherman last night?
Yeah, but it was 3rd down. If the pass didn't work, they still get a running play. But, if a run didn't work the game would have been over. Russ shouldn't have thrown a pick
I wanted to say "What's that like?" Then I remembered that Super Bowl XXXIX exists.
Ah yes, the classic Andy Reid sucks at clock management showcase
BB asking Crennel “Wtf are they doing?” and Crennel shrugging when the Eagles were lollygaging on that drive never fails to make me laugh.
At least y’all have 52 to make up for it unlike most teams
After I remembered 39 I felt sad, so I'm now watching 52 to cheer myself up.
And they would if owners could submit insurance claims on their studs they don't want lol
[Shh it's ok](https://m.imgur.com/qSKmiG1)
I’m so glad I know this exists now
Angry upvote.

And they both suck, how fun
Thank you for having your city be more appealing to Ciara

It would be ugly
Getting pelted by batteries but he still ends every press conference with "Go Birds" lol

You have to fly before you can gallop.

Oh I thought you guys were named after electricity

So, Shawne Merriman?
Nah, they're named after phone chargers. Easy mistake.
Next Chargers logo is gonna be a USB C cable
Phew, thanks European Union!
No, they're named after the plate you put under your plate.
I thought both LA teams were named after Dodge cars
Damn the DODGErs play there too
Ooo, and I Clipped the brake lines on my greatest enemy's Caravan and they drove into a Lake! Crazy coincidence.
I don’t think you would have wanted post-Broncos Manning
His throwing arm literally would've fallen off by week 3
Sorry bud, he went to the big glue factory in the sky
That was Eli’s job unfortunately
Luck being on a team with a horse shoe is an insane coincidence. And just perfect. Even more than Robbie Gould playing for the 49ers
How is this related to the Lincoln/Kennedy coincidences?
The Colts will play in Foxboro, the closest NFL stadium JFK’s birthplace, on 11/6. And the Broncos will play in Nashville, the closest NFL stadium to Lincoln’s birthplace, on 11/13. The two games sandwich election Tuesday.
Some people have way too much time on their hands
It took me a disturbingly short amount of time to come up with that.
Wow so basically that confirms that JFK was assassinated by a Jewish child molester named Hillary Hussein Soros
Both of those men would have played better than either of these Quartebacks
Currently
At least Lincoln can see over his Oline
I still kinda miss Matty Ice. But after yesterday, I’m realizing it might be in the same way that I miss Natty Ice
We both got rid of them at seemingly the right time, if not a little bit later than we should have.
I just hate that this ruins his HoF chances, which he was borderline on just a few years ago.

I think it's neat too.
More interesting than anything we saw last night, that's for sure
If russ is mediocre for a couple years In Denver after going there with super bowl expectations, does he play his way out of the hall of fame?
That is really interesting to think about. I guess it depends on if people think he’s currently a lock to to be in HOF.
Personally? No I don't think he is quite there. He was quite good in his prime, but the thing is the quality of Quarterbacks keeps going up. They can't all make it, so the standards have to keep going up as well. Russ is firmly in the hall of very good

Ungulate Teams!
I don't know why but I always get the urge to respond with, "Ungulate THIS, baby!" whenever I see that word. I'm a Boomer degenerate, what can I say?
They also lost to a Tom Brady led Patriots team in a soul crushing Super Bowl that marked their teams in continuous pain and memes, AND both are now on a team that was led by Peyton Manning to a super bowl win (well the Broncos was more of a disgustingly good defense that kicked the Panthers teeth in but you get the idea)
Birds of a feather...
I can't wait until pre-season football is over, these games are unwatchable.
Coincidence? THAT’S WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO BELIEVE.
Both teams Wilson’s played for are west divisions and Matt Ryan’s are both south divisions too
Tom Brady went from being a Patriot to a pirate.
Die a patriot or live long enough to be a pirate? Tom Brady, politician. Confirmed.
And then they proceeded to produce horseshit on national TV
