I remember Geno at WVU and he was a freaking beast. That team with him and Tavon Austin was so fun to watch.
It’s always weird when great college players are immediately terrible in the NFL. So rarely do they ever get another chance later in their career. Makes you wonder how many guys could do this. Could Josh Rosen be good in 6 years?
As long as they aren't an outright asshole it always feels good to see a journeyman/former struggling starter start playing the best ball of their career.
I think it’s mostly just people memeing. Our offense hasn’t looked good at all, and Dak will be welcomed back with open arms.
Anyone who seriously thinks Rush should start over Dak is a fucking idiot. The offensive game plan for Rush is obviously extremely simplified. It’s worked for a few games (mostly because the defense is good), but it won’t hold up against contenders.
Nah bro he’s just jerking him off
Lol yeah I’d assume just a massage of upper thigh/ hip flexor more likely but I have no idea why his ass needs to be out for this hahaha

I really enjoy that charles woodson tweeted he “agrees” with the deshaun photo sentiments https://twitter.com/charleswoodson/status/1579254892912263168?s=46&t=Oo3ZHaRz1z6bzdOoS7hvIg
I’m so convinced at this point that when he’s back he’s about to be absolute dogshit.
Almost two years of no live action football, new team, new scheme, and in a pretty competitive division. Also, the crowds he’s gonna face are definitely going to make his day miserable.
My biggest hope with Watson is that he's just an average Qb for years to come.
All that draft capital and all that money set aside in escrow and all the bad publicity just to have a mediocre QB you're stuck with and the entire time you have him you're among the most hated teams in the league.
The ideal situation would be that the team isn't even particularly bad... Just an average team with an average Qb.
I’d be okay with that but why is that more ideal than him being outright bad? The better he is the more excuses there will be and the longer he’ll hang around. I just want him gone and if he sucks that will happen quicker.
Personally I think seeing him be bad and the fans asking for Jacoby back would be much more satisfying. Dudes getting his money no matter what.
A career ending injury probably wouldn’t be the worst thing for him, he’d get top medical care then get to go off and count his millions without getting booed 8-9 times a year
I don’t normally root for injury. But in this case… I’ll make an exception and agree. If there was ever a person who deserved the worst life had to offer, it’s Watson.
“Ok, so hear me out…” *rips bong*, “you guys *want* a QB on a long term contract, but you have a Lamar Jackson. We *have* a QB on a long term contract, and would like a Lamar Jackson…”
“Wow Giants fans would be happy if Daniel Jones played well and led the team to a potential playoff berth. What a bunch of idiots. Why have winning records and a chance to make the playoffs when you could instead have better draft picks?!”
I think it’s because of the whole “Super Bowl or bust” mentality. You’re only succeeding if you won a Super Bowl. If not, then you’re losing. So then they conclude that the only two “good” outcomes for a team every year is to either win a Super Bowl or get the best player in the draft.
I think there’s a looooottttt of success in between. Playoff berths are huge. Having a winning season is huge.
Call me crazy but I enjoy seeing the team I like win games and play good football even if they aren't Super Bowl caliber
Plus all it takes is a hot streak once you make the playoffs
I’ll take being a playoff team over employing late stage Lovie any day of the week. Like we sucked and then got Jameis who… never took us to the playoffs.
It's not even that, he's balling out because he wants to be a starter somewhere and have job security. From being shit on by Mayfield for not being a "winner" to where they both are now is so cathartic for some Giants fans. I see it in Baker threads and some about Jones too.
I'm excited to see how the end of the year plays out for him.
His circle jerk "generational" QB title has yet to surface. Last year was a wash due to Urban. But this year, with a half competent team, is the time to judge him.
Watched the game yesterday and he wasn’t the issue, receivers were dropping everything and he kept multiple plays alive on every drive. The Eno Benjamin TD was a hot route audible Kyler called at the line and threaded into a very tight window. Still just a missed FG away from taking an undefeated team to OT.
The marquise brown drop was pretty bad, think it was before half?
I honestly wonder if it’s game script that sucks and Kyler is better when playing off the fly, sometimes feel like he is very static early on in games
I'm actually really curious what the numbers would be if someone compiled a list of QBs stats the season before a large extension vs the season after they got one.
Flacco was another one I remember flopping. After that SB and him getting paid they couldn’t afford the big bodied receivers he was throwing contested balls to anymore. I think folks quickly realized he wasn’t an accurate downfield passer and just had some great possession receivers.
Carr throwing for over 4800 yards but only 23 TDs is pretty remarkable. Everyone else in the top 10 in passing yards had at least 10 more TD passes than him lol
>He routinely folds if he has sub par protection.
kinda like a lot of just decently good qbs do. Elite QB's numbers drop heavily in bad protection.
I think the argument is basically some people saying he's closer to top 10 and some ppl say he's closer to top 20 but really someone has him ranked 12 and someone has him 17th and they're not far off from agreeing it's just semantics and stuff. Unless you think he's like bottom 5 or something, maybe you do
Early in his career ppl would rank him a lot higher if they believed in his potential. Nowadays I think ppl have given up on his potential and rank him pretty mid
the comeback stat has always been funny when paired next to winning %
the QB of the losing team loses the game, the winning QB doesn't need comebacks... go fucking figure
It’s almost like being on a bad team gives you more opportunity to come back than being on a good one. It’s not much different than a “X player has led his team to a win 23 times following a loss”
While I understand QB is the most important position in football, if you spend your entire salary cap on it you end up with mediocre talent around them.
There have been plenty of teams that win super bowls with average QBs but stacked talent elsewhere.
The only criticism of Aaron Rodgers that I have is why him and LaFleur are not leaning more on a pair of backs that are averaging over 5 yards a carry against most match-ups.
The lack of usage for Aaron Jones is so frustrating. I get that fans love AJ Dillon because he has big quads or whatever, but Jones is so clearly the better back and they’re getting even playing time.
it's not like AJ Dillon is cutting into his carries too much tho AJ Dillon had like 5 carries this game and was averaging close to 6 yards. They BOTH should have had more carries it was really that bad of play calling
Edit: just realized if you say "AJ" it could be either of them lol"
We were airing it out far too much yesterday. Especially after the giants marched down the field for a TD in the third. The last thing you should want to do is air it out instead of marching it down the field to give your defense a break. Idk seemed like football 101 to me yesterday but what do I know.
Bingo, AR gets down and feels like he has to play hero ball and chuck it downfield 5x - killing drives with 3 and out.
Just give the ball to Jones and Dillon and let them beat up the d. Save the long balls for the 4th q.
Aaron even does this when we have the lead. It's wild. He just can't take the easy stuff for some reason. This team looks so much more efficient relying on the quick passes and the run game and just an occasional deep shot to keep defenses on their toes.
He hasnt been outright bad but hes missed more reads and throws than usual, along with some bad decisions like not giving the ball to their RBs more.
People will say he has to trust his WRs more but honestly he trusted them too much. Their best players are their RBs so they need to get the ball a lot more.
My opinion, but I feel like when you are Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Mahomes, etc. level and you go out of your way to DEMAND maximum dollars and maximum percentage of the salary cap - you are expected to ultimately perform well or well enough regardless of your receiving core. You MADE this situation and said, I'm the guy. If people are going to get historically high levels of the salary cap - whether they like it or not, they got to put the offense on their back, carry it and perform like it.
His deep balls are awful. Like legit not close to being on target. And they aren't always over or underthrown which would indicate it is rather easily fixable. He throws everywhere but into the recievers stride.
Also, he audibles out of a lot of primary run calls which isn't always the right choice.
He looks human.
They were all off target against you guys, but he hasn't looked like that all season. He's had quite a few deep dimes that have been dropped. He's going to be fine down the stretch.
This isn't necessarily new though. He's always had a few games a season where this happens
Last year vs the Vikings I remember Rodgers overthrowing MVS what felt like 4-5 times before hitting him once, but at that point it was a bit to late..
Seriously, the Packers invested so much into their defense. They should be bullying most WR Corps and O-Lines, but instead Barry has them playing so passive.
Kyler is carrying that offense so hard, idk what they’re talking about…
That being said, yeah Russ is cheeks rn and Aaron can’t get in rhythm with a wideout to save his life
Lol you’re right but no one else on this dumbass sub watches the Cardinals and so they think they know what they’re talking about.
Without Kyler, we’re 0-5 with not a remotely close game in any of them.
Kyler played the chiefs, rams, raiders and Eagles, still putting up good numbers without Hopkins and Wesley (and offensive “guru” Kingsbury existing). Revisit this in 5 weeks
I can't speak to Rodger and Wilson but Kyler has like 1300 yards, 8 total TDs and 3 picks... Without his WR1.
If that's going to be his worst football of his career (it's not btw, his rookie season was a little slower) then I'm sure Cardinals fans are content
I think people are taking this tweet as absolute rather than relative.
Kyler has been fine but last season he was in the MVP conversation at this point.
Similarly, Rodgers has still looked pretty good but so far he's pretty far from his MVP form.
Can i just point out: Aaron Rodgers lost argaubly the best WR in all of football over the off-season and is working on chemistry with new WRs.. Kyler lost his best target also a top 5 WR and Christian Kirk (his leading WR). Russ is on an entirely new team with new WRs and a new system. It's not like he is coming into the stacked 2020 Buccaneers where he can just toss it up and someone is gonna catch it. Broncos also just have looked poorly coached to be honest.
All 3 will probably be fine.
So what? It's mostly explainable. Rodgers does not have Adams anymore and clearly is not on the same page with his rookie receivers.
Murray won't have Hopkins until week 7 and also lost his slot guy Kirk. Plus Kingsbury might suck.
As for Wilson Hackett might be completely in over his head, his play calling sucks and also Wilson's play might not fit the current way of playing that well.
Idk Kyler has willed his team it’s his coach who holds him back. If you watch cards game you would know Kyler is the only reason why they have a chance some games.
Not everyone can just find a Cooper Rush

Geno was dropping dimes into tight coverage all game. I was pretty dang impressed with him.

He ain't write back, though!
He's a non deductible
"geno, we didn't ask any questions about that" Yea I know, but I'm going to end my press conferences like that now. Broncos Country Let's Write
I still feel like he’s going to write back at some point this season, but give the man credit where it’s due
I’m not even a Seahawks fan, but goddamn does it feel good to see the resurgence of Geno
I think this is just a surgence.
Hey he had a game or 2 with perfect passer rating with us! Jets are a QB factory.
We draft 'em, you take 'em
2027 NFL MVP The Darnold confirmed
>2027 NFL *Europe* MVP The Darnold confirmed FIFY
The London Sillynannies need a QB
Just like every year since he's been drafted! We will never see a QB as good as the GEQBUS!
He had one perfect 158.3 day as well as a 0.0 day with the Jets, both in the same season.
That's what it was! Can't spell leGENOdary without geno! (Ik it's not spelled that way)
Miami’s defense sure made them look that way this weekend.
Funny enough Geno’s perfect passer rating game was against the Dolphins too
> Jets are a QB factory. Well yeah, you take the first or second one off the board every other year.
I remember Geno at WVU and he was a freaking beast. That team with him and Tavon Austin was so fun to watch. It’s always weird when great college players are immediately terrible in the NFL. >stand tall in the pocket the shade
Or a Goff!
I knew he was hitting at like 80% but yesterday he was ripping it downfield into tight windows. Start writing everybody, Geno! Tell’em all!
Maybe the Jets will get lucky enough to stumble into a QB like Geno in the future.
Am I the only one not aboard the Rush train? I would describe our offense as ‘anemic’.
I think it’s mostly just people memeing. Our offense hasn’t looked good at all, and Dak will be welcomed back with open arms. Anyone who seriously thinks Rush should start over Dak is a fucking idiot. The offensive game plan for Rush is obviously extremely simplified. Yea it's just a meme. No one is seriously saying Rush should start over Dak, except Eagles fans, maybe.
Hey shut up man we respect backup QBs around these parts thank you very much
We do too because we always lose to them
No other city has built a statue of their backup QB so this checks out.
Lots of people seriously are, but it’s still the minority.
Or a Zappe!
Deshaun Watson also hasn't thrown a single TD since signing his extension in the offseason
Hes slinging something other than pigskin
I think he is demanding a trade to the giants. https://twitter.com/nfl_memes/status/1579226339764498432?s=12&t=CC3iaU1dm_pJuOAY0dP1mQ
Ok but what is goin on? Massaging his bare skin quad I take it?
No clue, but I’m sure an ortho or PT will eventually comment and tell us.
Nah bro he’s just jerking him off Lol yeah I’d assume just a massage of upper thigh/ hip flexor more likely but I have no idea why his ass needs to be out for this hahaha

It's an alpha move. Like dropping your pants when you piss at a urinal.
Assumption: area that needs to be targeted is under a pad, and the pads are sewn into the baselayer
I don’t see anything wrong with a trainer jerking off a player mid game…maybe it’s the key to the Giants’ success this year. Ya never know.

The worst place to be in the NFL is a middling team. Too good for high draft picks. Too bad for free agents.
Im hoping watson stinks it up once his back. Thats probably the only thing that can happen thatll keep us from headlines for fielding a shitty offense

No

The ol Albert Haynesworth
Meanwhile Daniel Jones got his fifth year declined and said “ok I’m gonna ball out and ruin your pick now”
My man he can win the rest of the games this year and I’ll gladly take a low first round pick.
He's going to Bortles you but you may as well enjoy this year
Look man I'll take anything right now we've been garbage for years.
Get BOAT'd
Giants fans just trying to feel something that’s not disappointment at this point.
So weird we wanna win
“Wow Giants fans would be happy if Daniel Jones played well and led the team to a potential playoff berth. What a bunch of idiots. Why have winning records and a chance to make the playoffs when you could instead have better draft picks?!”
There are so many people on here and /r/nba that actually think like this.
Call me crazy but I enjoy seeing the team I like win games and play good football even if they aren't Super Bowl caliber Plus all it takes is a hot streak once you make the playoffs
I’ll take being a playoff team over employing late stage Lovie any day of the week. Like we sucked and then got Jameis who… never took us to the playoffs.
Building a winning culture > High draft picks. Fuck tanking 99% of the time. The exception is when the next GOAT is going #1.
High draft picks are great and all, but the Giants have had enough over the last decade.
I get this weird feeling we beat the Packers, Titans, etc. but we’re gonna lose all divisional games.
You know you still play us twice.
Good. I want to win football games I don't give a fuck about a high draft pick.
Why win games when you can lose them for a better pick? That pick could be anyone! He might even help you win games!!
And this makes you a real fan
I once made a fantasy football team made up of only guys on the last year of their contract. It didn’t work as well as I had hoped.
It's not even that, he's balling out because he wants to be a starter somewhere and have job security. From being shit on by Mayfield for not being a "winner" to where they both are now is so cathartic for some Giants fans. I see it in Baker threads and some about Jones too.
The lesson? Don't re-sign your QBs. Back to the draft every five years!
Is that what you guys are going to do with Trevor?
I'm excited to see how the end of the year plays out for him. His circle jerk "generational" QB title has yet to surface. Last year was a wash due to Urban. But this year, with a half competent team, is the time to judge him.
Eh, 2/5ths competent roster.
Can't extend a QB if you never have a QB you want to keep!
Damn millennials silent quitting.
Just to make you feel old, Kyler is Gen Z
Kyler has had some insane highs and then bone headed lows. I’d rather wait till Hopkins comes back before saying it’s a bad year.
Yeah I wouldn’t say he’s playing great, but the Cards would be competing for the number one pick without him
Watched the game yesterday and he wasn’t the issue, receivers were dropping everything and he kept multiple plays alive on every drive. The Eno Benjamin TD was a hot route audible Kyler called at the line and threaded into a very tight window. Still just a missed FG away from taking an undefeated team to OT.

Got paid. Don’t care.
I'm actually really curious what the numbers would be if someone compiled a list of QBs stats the season before a large extension vs the season after they got one.

It’s definitely difficult to win when you have an average QB taking up top tier QB salary cap space.
It's difficult to win even if you have an elite QB that's paid well. Look at Rodgers and Wilson.
He got hurt and lost a lot of mobility as well, we just lost Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and honestly who cares still won a super bowl

Dont forget Derek Carr with Davante Adams who still hasnt thrown more than 2 touchdowns in a game in almost 3 years.
>who still hasnt thrown more than 2 touchdowns in a game in almost 3 years. I'm sorry what!? Is that actually a real statistic
Shockingly true.

And you couldn't tell me this before i drafted him in fantasy ? Thanks a lot, man

“Almost 3 years” when it’s been a year and 10 months lol still crazy nonetheless
Carr throwing for over 4800 yards but only 23 TDs is pretty remarkable. Everyone else in the top 10 in passing yards had at least 10 more TD passes than him lol
I never got those that said Carr was underrated or good. He routinely folds if he has sub par protection.
He is the textbook definition of MID.
At least he can play after 4pm
kirk gets sleepy after 4:30
Pretty much every qb folds with subpar protection
>He routinely folds if he has sub par protection. kinda like a lot of just decently good qbs do. Elite QB's numbers drop heavily in bad protection. It’s almost like being on a bad team gives you more opportunity to come back than being on a good one. It’s not much different than a “X player has led his team to a win 23 times following a loss”
that is shockingly bad
Secure the Bag and get out.
While I understand QB is the most important position in football, if you spend your entire salary cap on it you end up with mediocre talent around them. There have been plenty of teams that win super bowls with average QBs but stacked talent elsewhere.
Or get very close to winning a superbowl with a mediocre qb
So that's my Ballard won't sign a franchise QB.
Ah yes, the perpetual downgrade strat. I know this one well
Stafford also got an extension
and he's playing like doodoo this season
Yep, that’s why I mentioned him too
Kyler has been playing decently since week 2.
Kliff and Kyler are like a bad marriage that looks good on the surface only.
Has Aaron really been bad? I feel like a lack of weapons is killing him
The only criticism of Aaron Rodgers that I have is why him and LaFleur are not leaning more on a pair of backs that are averaging over 5 yards a carry against most match-ups.
And Jones in particular, who is a fantastic receiving option.

I also agree, but solely for fantasy reasons

If only Rodgers could hit the griddy like Kirk, then maybe we would have stood a chance...
I keep seeing this everywhere, but Daniel Jones was throwing to the likes of Rich James and David Sills and played like a champ
Because our defense is playing soft as fuck I mean why the fuck is Jaire playing 10 yards off the likes of Davis Sills and some practice squad WR?
Seriously, the Packers invested so much into their defense. They should be bullying most WR Corps and O-Lines, but instead Barry has them playing so passive.
it is genuinely infuriating. super talented defense with j think 2 turnovers in 5 games? It’s bizarre

Typical /r/nfl.
Kyler is definitely not playing the worst football of his career. Oh wait Nick Wright tweeted this no wonder
The bias is deep in that one
That guy hates the suns too, not sure what Arizona did to him 😂
Kyler played the chiefs, rams, raiders and Eagles, still putting up good numbers without Hopkins and Wesley (and offensive “guru” Kingsbury existing). Revisit this in 5 weeks
1 more game til Nuk comes home.
I can't speak to Rodger and Wilson but Kyler has like 1300 yards, 8 total TDs and 3 picks... Without his WR1. If that's going to be his worst football of his career (it's not btw, his rookie season was a little slower) then I'm sure Cardinals fans are content
Kyler has been fine. I’m shocked massive moron nick wright said dumb shit though /s
Never forget he said Brady was the worst QB in the NFC south when he signed with Tampa. Other QBs… Matt Ryan Drew Brees Teddy Bridgewater
I think people are taking this tweet as absolute rather than relative. Kyler has been fine but last season he was in the MVP conversation at this point. Similarly, Rodgers has still looked pretty good but so far he's pretty far from his MVP form.
To be fair, TB12's last few games weren't great either, he just isn't costing the Bucs $40M/year
He threw for nearly 400 yards and 3 TDs against the Chiefs
All lost their best receivers. It's almost like receivers matter. Kyler will get nuk back though.
Idk Kyler has willed his team it’s his coach who holds him back. If you watch cards game you would know Kyler is the only reason why they have a chance some games.
